- mishabear, on 10/10/2007, -3/+124I love it! Freakin' idiots live everywhere.
- 80hd, on 10/10/2007, -3/+17It's sad that a pile of signs isn't enough to keep people from thinking they are smarter than this thing. A better Idea would be have one simple, visible sign and two sets of barriers. The bus pulls up to the back set, the rear set rises to let people know their not special enough to be above the posted rules, the front set drops and the bus moves along.
What I I'd like to see is how hey handle things when some person pulls up and is to dense to leave before a bus shows up- Gir53457, on 10/10/2007, -1/+17They should install a ticker that tells you "You are Idiot # XXX"
- 80hd, on 10/10/2007, -15/+2***** you comment box.
Anyhow I wanted to clean up my comment and say that the bus would pull up to barrier #1 and then #2 rises behind the bus so that people don't get surprised. #1 drops, and once the bus has been clear for a minute or two, #1 rises, then #2 drops again.- DavidBGie, on 10/10/2007, -5/+1I say stupid engineer! At least use something people are familiar with like a gate with lights! Engineers have to make things dummy proof that's part of their job. Stupid engineer!
- Nerfdude, on 10/10/2007, -3/+95man, Americans sure are stupid.
oh, wait.- kd1s, on 10/10/2007, -3/+11I'd love to see a similar system implemented here in the United States. Instead we get Revenue Enhancement Devices aka Red Light Cameras.
- Gir53457, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5We call them Cops.
- ericisshort, on 10/10/2007, -5/+6I dont see how this is even applicable. This stops people from driving in restricted driving areas, while red light cameras stop red light runners. And they have red light cameras in europe also... as well as speed cameras on freeways. So yeah, you're an idiot.
- EntangledPhysx, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1I've heard red light cameras increase fender-benders, because people are so paranoid of running a red light, that once the light is yellow they slam on the breaks, hence being rear-ended. That's interesting I think.

- kent1146, on 10/10/2007, -7/+27Even Europe is plagued by clueless women drivers
- BlackAle, on 10/10/2007, -13/+11not at clueless as you though.
- Tenetri, on 10/10/2007, -11/+1not AS clueless as you are apparently
Spell checkers are great, aren't they?- alexforcefive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+18because at isn't a word?
- Tenetri, on 10/10/2007, -11/+1not AS clueless as you are apparently
- Gir53457, on 10/10/2007, -3/+10Nuh-uh! You guys drive on the wrong side of the road!
- BlackAle, on 10/10/2007, -13/+11not at clueless as you though.
- mikesbaker, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3the guy in the last van to get it broke the wind sheild with his face.

- kaelyiesta, on 10/10/2007, -48/+16What country is this?
I can't imagine these being used by any halfway intelligent nation. Granted, I'm sure there are plenty of warning signs but this thing looks like it was designed to cause accidents. Small solid unyielding metal rods popping up out of the ground would not be my first thought if I were the engineer thinking of how to halt traffic safely.- cawpin, on 10/10/2007, -20/+2It seems to be France.
- actorboy, on 10/10/2007, -15/+38Really? My first thought was that they would only be implemented in countries that trusted their population to be smart enough to avoid solid unyielding metal rods. Which is why they would never work here in America.
- dball48, on 10/10/2007, -2/+15yea, the drivers in this country are obviously smart enough to handle this
- nreynolds, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8they have these in America, fyi, just not very often.
- robzthird, on 10/10/2007, -6/+4Things is though, when some idiot gets injured trying to cheat it...SUE SUE SUE!!!
- Racerx52, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3How could they sue? There were clearly signs posted.
It would be the same as suing the police for pulling you over for speeding, Or running a red light.- quisph, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Except that when the police pull you over, they don't do thousands of dollars of damage to your car.
- Gir53457, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Suing for trespassing on private property and causing illicit damaged?
- KSUdesigner, on 10/10/2007, -5/+89Of course it was designed to cause accidents. Cars aren't supposed to be in that lane at all. If the idiot drivers just pay attention to the signs, or quit trying to beat the system, they wouldn't have gotten themselves into that situation. I think the system is actually a pretty good one, allowing for the public transportation to get around much quicker. If you're dumb enough to drive down one of these lanes then you deserve to crash into a pole.
- DiggMasterJ, on 10/10/2007, -13/+4Or you are a Pole. :)
- koven, on 10/10/2007, -6/+23It's England, sadly.
- Hermitwise, on 10/10/2007, -9/+3Because everyone expects more from England than we do from other countries? I didn't know that.
- noahhoward, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9There is nothing sad about it.
- koven, on 10/10/2007, -1/+15It's sad because I'm from England and ashamed to admit that there are people thick enough to drive their cars into metal poles (with kids in the car too).
- YoctoYotta, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7There are stupid people in every country, and smart people in every country. Then there are people like you who are probably smart, but still think other countries would have a per capita ratio of stupid people higher than their own country. Grow a perspective man.
Cheers. - Gir53457, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5It looks more like the metal pole was driven into the vehicle.
- Myonosken, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1It's Manchester
Typical.
- YoctoYotta, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7There are stupid people in every country, and smart people in every country. Then there are people like you who are probably smart, but still think other countries would have a per capita ratio of stupid people higher than their own country. Grow a perspective man.
- noahhoward, on 10/10/2007, -3/+3Ah, okay that clears it up a bit. The OP seems to suggest only a stupid nation would have these things. I completely agree it is sad to realise people this stupid exist in your country though. If you want to cheer yourself up a bit come spend some time in America.
- koven, on 10/10/2007, -1/+15It's sad because I'm from England and ashamed to admit that there are people thick enough to drive their cars into metal poles (with kids in the car too).
- neiltc13, on 10/10/2007, -4/+8Actually there is nothing in this video to indicate it is England. It's impossible to tell what part of the UK this is - all road markings in all four nations in the UK are the same so it could be England but it could also be Northern Ireland, Wales or Scotland.
- koven, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7There maybe nothing in the video to indicate it's England but I know for a fact it is. There has been plenty of news articles on the video, eye-witness reports on other forums, etc. Basically, it's England.
- neiltc13, on 10/10/2007, -14/+1Yes but saying "It's England" makes it seem like you've realised this from the video alone when there is nothing in the video (apart from local landmarks) to indicate that it is England. In this context there isn't actually a country called England - there is only the United Kingdom. Roads, drivers and vehicles all undergo the same things in every part of the UK. All drivers pass the same driving test regardless of whether they sit it in England or another part of the UK.
- neiltc13, on 10/10/2007, -15/+1Yes but saying "It's England" makes it seem like you've realised this from the video alone when there is nothing in the video (apart from local landmarks) to indicate that it is England. - jeremynicolas, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7neiltc, I totally don't see how that's relevant. It's definitely Manchester. Look at the first bus that goes through: http://www.manchestertoolkit.com/Images/metroshuttle_bus.jpg
- neiltc13, on 10/10/2007, -9/+1I'm just saying, the country is called the United Kingdom, not England.
The first comment of this thread is "What country is this?" - Onyxblaze, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10Can you just shutup now?
- jakibakes, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2Yes, except, the road markings aren't the only thing visible in the video.
- ElectricDoodie, on 10/10/2007, -5/+0.
- koven, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7There maybe nothing in the video to indicate it's England but I know for a fact it is. There has been plenty of news articles on the video, eye-witness reports on other forums, etc. Basically, it's England.
- 80hd, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4I wish something like this would happen in the US. On campus, cars fly through the Bus-only loops. Right now the Police just walk up to cars and write tickets which I suppose is a better idea except that it only works when the police are around. I'd rather see money thrown at law enforcement than replacing parts on idiots' rides.
- Gir53457, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I dunno, I rather enjoy the idea of some jackass's radiator getting the ol' one-two.
- llurker, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9I think a retractable tire deflater would be safer.
- n1pz, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1Not as easy to spot though so likely more accidents.
- jimbobaii, on 10/10/2007, -3/+44I'm pretty sure this is Manchester, UK
- NoQuarter, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11Yeah it is, those thing are all over the city centre and this clip got shown by the local news a year ago. I know someone who watched a car do the same thing, the bollards are signposted to hell, but people still do it.
- hustl3r, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12Yep it's Manchester. I see ***** like that happening all the time when i'm out in town. People these days are just too impatient.
- dignews, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3I live in Manchester too and Ive seen it happened once before, people can sometimes just be total D**K heads sometimes
- chris9902, on 10/10/2007, -15/+6they can't read so it probably is Manchester.
- khatarnaak, on 10/10/2007, -11/+3***** we can read better than you southern *****!
Every city has their fair share of idiots.
- khatarnaak, on 10/10/2007, -11/+3***** we can read better than you southern *****!
- laserob, on 10/10/2007, -4/+182Finally, a video where the music actually makes it better!
- Gwarg, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13That music highlighted the stupidity perfectly!
- SpaceParanoids, on 10/10/2007, -0/+39That's "Tijuana Taxi" by Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass, if anyone was wondering.
- ChromaVita, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Should have been Smashmouth.
- pseudostatik, on 10/10/2007, -25/+6not this again?! buried
- byrdgang, on 10/10/2007, -5/+1how about you being buried?
- cmpshotty, on 10/10/2007, -0/+47This is awesome! All those drivers knew that they weren't supposed to use that lane, they all tried to quickly follow the buses through. I'm impressed with how quickly those barriers come up after the bus goes. Haha great stuff!
- rarson, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7Yeah, I could watch clips of this for hours. I want to see more.
- MaidenFan2358, on 10/10/2007, -17/+4That wouldn't fly in umurikah, the idiocracy here would do exactly the same thing shown in the video. Then sue the city for having the audacity to put people in danger while breaking the law.
- qwertylicious, on 10/10/2007, -15/+3ISSS IT?
- veggiemoore, on 10/10/2007, -6/+2I ssee what you did there.
- RealmDown, on 10/10/2007, -5/+2Sso do I
- pyrotix, on 10/10/2007, -7/+1Busses is the plural of bus in British English, yankee.
- veggiemoore, on 10/10/2007, -4/+3The internet is American. Duh.
- hamdevguru, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3Busses is NOT the plural of Bus in British English - Buses is. Busses is, in fact, the American plural.
http://www.askoxford.com/concise_oed/bus?view=uk- elnerdo, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Oxford is wrong. Busses is just a misspelling all around.
It's 'buses' whether you're in the UK or in America.
- elnerdo, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Oxford is wrong. Busses is just a misspelling all around.
- Gimpishi, on 10/10/2007, -10/+94This one is better because it is the driver's fault, and not some poorly thought out hazard.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5tUaRUU0I-w&NR=1- ninjatech123, on 10/10/2007, -3/+18Holy crap! What just happened! The car ws jerking a lot right before he crashed? A manual transmission and unexperienced driver I'm guessing?
- tuxidomasx, on 10/10/2007, -6/+33"What just happened"
the driver was a woman - satx, on 10/10/2007, -20/+4It wasn't a "he" it was a she. Can you ***** read? What the hell do you think "femme" means?
- Lionhart, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Yes. Manual transmission with someone who doesn't know how to drive it.
- tuxidomasx, on 10/10/2007, -6/+33"What just happened"
- ivantalboys, on 10/10/2007, -3/+20Its no more poorly thought out that a traffic light controlled intersection. They only thing there stopping you from having an accident is a red light. Thats it, a red light. But you see them everywhere there is traffic. I'm sure there are plenty of signs warning that the road ahead is a bus lane only not to mention extra signs stating the bollard hazard.
- quisph, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3You spend hours in driving school learning about traffic lights, and you have to take a test to prove that you understand how they work.
- 808kick, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4You spend years in school learning how to read, if you're too stupid to understand "Buses only, if you violate this a metal rod will destroy your engine" you deserve what's coming to you...it's a real world test.
- quisph, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3You spend hours in driving school learning about traffic lights, and you have to take a test to prove that you understand how they work.
- ydt89, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6wtf? Talk about idiot. How hard is it to turn right?
- renatoc8, on 10/10/2007, -3/+69Upon looking at the video, one might think the gate causer her to flip, but in reality, she simply shifted weight from her right butt cheek to the left.
- DCJoeDogaswell, on 10/10/2007, -9/+3Dude, I'm fat and even I found that comment funny.
- Onyxblaze, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6ok... I'm skinny and so did I.
- DCJoeDogaswell, on 10/10/2007, -9/+3Dude, I'm fat and even I found that comment funny.
- SSUK, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1I like how the guy at the end comes out, stairs at the car, goes "Hm, that's interesting" then walks back off calmly as possible.
- pilot3033, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9stares*
stairs are no where to be seen- rarson, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7*nowhere

- orca94, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2The title is great. "Women at the wheel" Haha.
That said some of the worst drivers I have ever seen have been guys.- jtorkbob, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Men get over-agressive.
Women get confused.
Generally.
- jtorkbob, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Men get over-agressive.
- CLShortFuse, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6I love how the guy in the other stops and sees a flipped over car. "Should I help? Nah."
Did anybody else think, "if this was GTA3 she would have 5 seconds to get out" - BalooUrsidae, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2The only people who think a bollard trap on a restricted lane is a bad idea are probably the same kind of ***** that drives alone in the HOV lane.
- Mac454, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Watch the right side of the car at 34 seconds in.
She decided that the car may need a fill-up I guess.
- ninjatech123, on 10/10/2007, -3/+18Holy crap! What just happened! The car ws jerking a lot right before he crashed? A manual transmission and unexperienced driver I'm guessing?
- lokoluis15, on 10/10/2007, -19/+5What's a Buss?
- JoshDaFink, on 10/10/2007, -3/+10I'm pretty sure both are acceptable spellings of the plural.
- ItsMyWii, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8It can be spelled busses or buses. Either one is proper.
- chevyorange, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1I thought your comment was funny, not sure why they dugg you down... I used to tell people who didn't know how to spell 'bus' that it was spelled 'buss' as a kid. Yeah, I was an ass. (am?)
- Gir53457, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1It's the English-English way of differentiating from American-English by using unnecessary letters.
- Myonosken, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1No it isn't.
- zebov, on 10/10/2007, -30/+11Yes, let's make a failure mechanism that kills people. Great engineering.
- Akaji, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3(Un)natural selection in action.
- kivimaki, on 10/10/2007, -2/+12Failure mechanism? What? Killing who?
Lets try not to live life through hyperbole! Yay! - MalDON, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Ot probably saves more lives. Besides, it only kills the car.
- hulez, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2everytime you masturbate, god crashes a car
- PixelVision, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5zebov, if you're dumb enough to kill yourself with a slow moving post then the gene pool is better off without you.
- IllBeBack, on 10/10/2007, -14/+6It's funny and all, but I can see this type of accident happening a lot because these look like the stupidest traffic control devices ever invented. If there are a lot of chances to get out of the way of this, however, then the drivers running into them are of course simply idiots.
- t2t2, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10There are signs just before these barriers telling, that lane is buses only (Look at first seconds of clip)
- SSUK, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Yes, there are clearly marked signs depicting a Bus Lane and rising barriers. If they think they can beat the barriers then it's up to them, but they are responsible for their own actions, hence if they're caught out it's their fault and are incompitent, and SHOULD be made fun of.
- aywwts4, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Obviously these drivers know about the rising barriers, because of the speed they try and tail the bus at. If they thought it was just a normal lane why would they be flooring it?
- olik, on 10/10/2007, -4/+2You never deserve to be put in deliberate danger simply in order to make you comply with a trivial regulation. It is totally irresponsible to use this system - people could be _seriously_ injured and it causes wanton destruction to property. They could just install those severe tire damage claws and make the same damn point without running the risk that someone will go through the windshield. And if ever they do, that town is going to have to pay through the nose.
Worst Idea Ever!- 808kick, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Simple don't use the ***** bus lane unless you're driving a city bus, if you can't follow simple directions then you don't deserve the privilege to drive.
- romainechester, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Got something for ya...
"Don't be arrogant and follow the god damned signs and traffic rules"
Those people in the video could have avoided the "deliberate danger" if they only complied to the rules. If it's anything that put them in danger, it's themselves.
- olik, on 10/10/2007, -4/+2You never deserve to be put in deliberate danger simply in order to make you comply with a trivial regulation. - davidwasman, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8Believe it or not, Walt Disney World has 'one-way' spike strips in their parking lots. Sadly none of the video has surfaced of some of the morons trying to sneak in, but living in Florida (yes, the one Keith Olbermann regularly and rightly picks on) and going to the parks often, I have seen it almost EVERY time.
- byrdgang, on 10/10/2007, -5/+1Do you have a YouTube clip of Olbermann talking about this?
- davidwasman, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5No, but there are numerous YouTube clips of Olbermann deservedly slamming Florida. More Oddball stories make it onto his show from this bass-ackwards state than any other in the nation.
(Since it will be asked why I haven't left if I hate it so much - I'm here to assist my 82 yr old grandmother.)
- davidwasman, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5No, but there are numerous YouTube clips of Olbermann deservedly slamming Florida. More Oddball stories make it onto his show from this bass-ackwards state than any other in the nation.
- NormalVisual, on 10/10/2007, -5/+11No, you haven't, because they don't exist. None of the guest lots at the four parks have them, the resort lots don't have them, the guest drop-off areas don't have them. Even backstage parking and entrances don't have them. You can come right into the North Service Area off of Reams Rd., come through the security gate, and then back up without any problems whatsoever. The north service entrance to the Magic Kingdom (just south of the monorail shop and east of the fireworks launch area) has a hydraulic barrier that prevents traffic from coming in, but no spike strips.
- tothemax64, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Not sure about Disney World having them but I think Disney Land had them.. never saw anyone try getting past them though...
- byrdgang, on 10/10/2007, -5/+1Do you have a YouTube clip of Olbermann talking about this?
- KyjL, on 10/10/2007, -4/+13Bender: BAHAHAHAHA
- Arcum, on 10/10/2007, -14/+2I've only ever seen these barriers near the White House and other government areas in USA/Canada. Putting them on public roads is asking for trouble.
- PixelVision, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Obviously having a sign didn't stop drivers going down the lanes, so they need to be physically forced not to go down there. Innocent people aren't effected by this as they won't attempt it. The people who get trouble deserve it.
- 808kick, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Bus lanes are not public roads
- alwaysnomadic, on 11/18/2008, -11/+2Yes, or the UK at least.
Right hand drive and the words "Free City..." on the side of the bus. The registration plate on the van at the end is the clearest of an unclear bunch and suggests UK.
PS Busses? Please people - learn how to spell!! (For those who have learned, stop fourgetinn!)- Akaji, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=busses
- alwaysnomadic, on 11/18/2008, -2/+5You are absolutely right - both "buses" & "busses" are correct. My mistake
- byrdgang, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0dugg down for a failed attempt at clowning others.
- hamdevguru, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Busses = American
Buses = British
http://www.askoxford.com/concise_oed/bus?view=uk - PhilAirtime, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Eh? We all know it's Manchester. Muppet.
- Myonosken, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1why is he being dugg down? It IS Manchester.
- Akaji, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=busses
- slmndr, on 10/10/2007, -3/+6This is just as funny every time I see it.
- pwnmasta, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Second that.
- jendeb2010, on 10/10/2007, -1/+11I wonder if they're timed to come up at a certain point, or if a sensor can detect when the bus/authorized vehicle has cleared before they start moving up again.
- cmpshotty, on 10/10/2007, -2/+28I'd like to hope there is a person controlling the barriers, because that would be a fun as hell job! Could keep score and everything!
- jendeb2010, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Yeah, exactly! :-) Seriously, you can tell the people trying to get by aren't accidentally getting caught up in the barrier -- they're really stepping on it and trying to sneak through. Kinda serve them right! ;-)
- cmpshotty, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Hah yeah, the first one actually backs up and waits for a bus to try and get through. Great stuff!

- mictester, on 10/10/2007, -0/+22The rising posts are controlled by "selective vehicle detection" technology: authorised vehicles are equipped with an electronic tag. There are also inductive detector loops in the road that monitor the passage of vehicles. They are DESIGNED to prevent unauthorised vehicles getting through, so allow legitimate ones through perfectly OK.
- 4ndr3wk, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2im pretty sure its a bloke doing it, ive been past one similar (may be that one!) and there are a lot of general vehicles going through (royal mail, deliveries) which i dont think would have the tag.
also there is a cctv camera facing EXACTLY towards the barriers...meh it could be reading number plates and letting them through- PixelVision, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3It could be an automatic system but with someone watching it at all times to allow other types of authorised vehicles which may not have the sensors. That's probably it because it would cost the most money and councils do that perfectly.
- RMDriver, on 03/03/2008, -0/+0I drive for Royal Mail, and i can tell you that there are sensors fitted to the fleet of vans, so that you can drive through bus lanes.

- Turr, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1ha! pwn
- Dolomite, on 10/10/2007, -35/+6How horrible diggers are laughing at this. People can be seriously injured. This system is DANGEROUS, so what if people try to take a short cut, should they be injured or maimed because of it????
- KyjL, on 10/10/2007, -1/+18Better one person than dozens of others when they smash into them for trying to "cheat the system"
- ninjatech123, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9Darwin at work??
- DiggMasterJ, on 10/10/2007, -1/+11yes
- Reap, on 10/10/2007, -2/+18I'm gonna go with... yes?
That's like saying "OH MY GOD, WHY ARE THERE BRIDGES?! People can jump off them if they want to cheat the system and get down faster!!"- LowFuel, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Uh, no it's more like having bridges that only work for certain vehicles and disappear instantly when that vehicle gets across.
- sirbeta, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Retractable_bridge - So these shouldn't exist because someone might try to cross it as it's about to open? Same principle.
- LowFuel, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Uh, no it's more like having bridges that only work for certain vehicles and disappear instantly when that vehicle gets across.
- sirbeta, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8The funny thing here is people are making it sound like the idiots don't know what to expect. They are speeding behind the bus because they KNOW the poles will come up, and they're trying to beat the system. They get what they deserve -- they know what's going to happen.
- HanSolo69, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3Obviously the answer is a resounding "yes." i mean, you did watch the video obviously.
- Dexus, on 10/10/2007, -9/+1Are those poles automated? Or is there a guy in a booth that does it? :P
- Matt174e, on 10/10/2007, -11/+3What's causing the pillars to rise? Is there a infra red beam that detects when the bus is passes? Or a human being a dick?
- notchristopher, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2think garage door opener
- PixelVision, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Being a dick is accelerating as hard as you can to get into an area you're not meant to be in while endangering not only the people standing nearby but also your own child in the back seat. That's what the dick is doing in this situation.
- hulez, on 10/10/2007, -4/+1"Being a dick is accelerating as hard as you can to get into an area you're not meant to be in"
Maybe if ur gay dude but I put my package where it belongs. IN A WOMENZ VAGINA

- BHSPitMonkey, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2If the pillars -are- human-operated, I would LOVE to have that job.
- ludditte, on 10/10/2007, -1/+23I wish we had those things in our bus lanes, nothing is more frustrating than watching the a**holes who drive
by you in the reserved bus lanes. And as far as the accidents, those drivers are the same people who drive at high speed, or drunk, with their kids in the back anyway. Call it evolution in action.- davidwasman, on 10/10/2007, -3/+7Idiocracy is alive and well
I love how some of these people are whining about it being unsafe.
It's their own stupid fault for driving in a Bus Only lane. Serves them right.- rarson, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2And there are plenty of warning signs, they even showed them at the beginning of the video.
- foodluver, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I think "Natural Selection" applies better than evolution

- xcbxcb, on 10/10/2007, -1/+39Yet another reason why motorcycle commuting is win.
- me1501, on 10/10/2007, -3/+48This system is not DANGEROUS. It is simply not idiot-proofed. There is a difference. It's just like saying train crossings are dangerous and should be removed because a lady tried to drive in front of it. (Movie from a couple weeks ago.)
- Reap, on 10/10/2007, -0/+17I'd say it was idiot-proofed... they were idiots, and the system is proof against them.
- Tippis, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2What's that saying about the Idiocy Equilibrium?
Every time man invents a better idiot-proof device, nature responds by inventing even better idiots. (or some such)
- Tippis, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2What's that saying about the Idiocy Equilibrium?
- davidwasman, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5I have a feeling that only the idiots this is trying to deter are the ones who are complaining. It's like foreshadowing.
- dsmx, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5Idiots who crash into these bollards should not be allowed to drive they are always clearly sign posted, if you don't read the signs you deserve to crash.
- Reap, on 10/10/2007, -0/+17I'd say it was idiot-proofed... they were idiots, and the system is proof against them.
- christoast, on 09/04/2008, -0/+21I get a certain pleasure from idiots who get what they deserve.
- koven, on 10/10/2007, -0/+39Eagle-eyed viewers will notice the idiot white van man smack his head off the windscreen causing it to crack. Probably because he wasn't wearing a seatbelt.
- thedragon4453, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10Man, a little faster and we might have had a Darwin award.
- BlackOp, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1It was the passenger, not the driver.
- Gregus1032, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1i started to laugh hard when i saw that. im a terrible person. but i can live with it.
- 3leggedHorse, on 10/10/2007, -6/+2***** morons!!!
- BHSPitMonkey, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2... is not encouraged.
- Gobd, on 10/10/2007, -1/+11To those that think this system is dangerous, it isn't. It is perfectly safe if people know that the lane is for buses only and that they are STRICTLY prohibited from entering. I myself think this system is too nice to those that cheat the law. I think along with having a ruined car they have mandatory community service, jail time, or a fee. These people know they are breaking the law (you can tell by how they try to stay as close as possible to the bus) but yet they do it anyway. The penalty must not be strong enough if people continue to commit the crime.
- omarciddo, on 10/10/2007, -4/+5Oh wow. That music was perfect. This left me in stitches.
- Vlux, on 10/10/2007, -4/+1I love how the windshield wipers is turned on at the end.
- thcobbs, on 10/10/2007, -10/+3They had a setup similar to this at my university.... but it was a bar that lowered....
I just stood by the stop one day with a radio frequency scanner and data logger..... Then I could go through them whenever I wanted.- ludditte, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5dumbass

douche
- JDRM, on 10/10/2007, -11/+1buried for being old.
What is it with people digging ancient things lately? - foco2001, on 10/10/2007, -3/+0what a bunch of *****!
- drunkenoaf, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12What's this cartoonland.de tag all about?
The video was originally taken by the Manchester Evening News (newspaper) from their offices overlooking the bollards and posted on their website. Interesting to see who's tagging it without having made it. ebaumsword-tastic.- khatarnaak, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Right...now I remember, it's right near the Crown Courts off Deansgate (if my memory serves me right).
Hilarious either way! - PhilAirtime, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0The video is from a CCTV camera on Corporation Street at the end of Market Street; the buses are heading towards the Printworks, the Crown Court is miles from there. The MEN offices are on Deansgate itself well out of sight of this spot.
- khatarnaak, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Right...now I remember, it's right near the Crown Courts off Deansgate (if my memory serves me right).
- JoshuaGross, on 10/10/2007, -8/+3I'm sick of this video... was it recorded with a CCTV camera?
- matthewt243, on 10/10/2007, -0/+14It is in Manchester, UK. And the funniest thing of all is that the insurance companies won't pay out, because you have performed an illegal manoeuvre! To be fair the signs are visible from 250m away, so there is no excuse.
http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/search/?searchterm=bollards&x=0&y=0 - Zanza, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6all those people are dumb asses, especial the family with kids, the dad should be driving better if he has his kids in the car
- rickd25, on 10/10/2007, -2/+0She took that baby and ran!
"Run, Bitch, Run" - Scary Movie - YZBot, on 10/10/2007, -4/+1If it's for buses only, how did the cars get to the other side? There is a slew of them parked along side the road.
- elementfire, on 10/10/2007, -0/+15It's like watching an episode of Mr. Bean! Like the one where he tries to get out of a parking garage without paying by driving out the Entrance.

- JahDrop, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2They need to go back to driving school and relearn all the rules about driving safety.
- leksdraven, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2I like how they all seem to speed up, as opposed to...I don't know... STOP when they see those things coming out of the ground! They deserve what they get for not obey traffic laws, and for just being plain stupid.
- supert0ad, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3yes, it's obvious that they know the things are going to come up, and they are trying to beat them. i hope they broke an axle.
- unearth, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0even though they did know the things were going to shoot up, you cant really say that they SAW them, per se. i guess knowing is seeing, though.
- Perk, on 10/10/2007, -4/+1I'm pretty sure I saw this same sort of video in Real format sometime before 1998...
- Oomsoup, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4That's great, I wish we had those in America.
Probably end up with a lot of stupid lawsuits because of it though. >,< Yay, America.- raada, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1They have them in DC outside the White house
- alexforcefive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2On the plus side, they get to use the bus lanes from now on. Y'know, on the bus.
- OropheR, on 10/10/2007, -4/+2Dumb system.
- n1pz, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1That first driver is a complete moron, by mounting the near kerb the car would have fit though. If your really must break the law, you could at least retain some dignity!
