      While I was a Scientologist, at any points where I would have a thought negatively or critically about a church executive, the organization or the techniques used in Scientology, I would have to squash these thoughts since if I shared them I would be subject to expensive auditing or other disciplinary actions or projects. This is another aspect of the way Scientology controls the thoughts of its constituents. You are trained to only allow certain thoughts or it will cost you time, money and your pride since you will be punished for thinking thoughts that the organization does not want you to think. For example, you are considered and labeled a criminal if you are caught not "keeping Scientology working" and many people were continually indoctrinated into that concept (including myself) by being forced to take a "Keeping Scientology Working" course under threat of being kicked out.

      Also, when Tom got to OT III, he went kind of crazy--finding out that it is all about space aliens and such. But the leader, Tom Miscavidge, calmed him down and kept him going. He is now an OT VIII. Which means he is immortal and can control objects. How's that workin' for ya Tom?

      1) All scientlogy knowledge is copyrighted. One can't quote any of their books, talks ... unless one wants to be sued by the church of scientology.       2) I you were to be a scientologist you'd have to make "engrams" or some kind of psycho-therapy sessions every now and then. Ofcourse they keep all those personal data about you and never fail to use them to black-mail you into shutting your mouth if you ever think about turning your back on scientology.

      3) Scientlogy sounds and looks like a cult. Even though they prone not to be one, many governments (including Germany) consider them as a cult or 'dangerous' cult and banned them from their country.

      Bottom line, it's easy to fine 100 other reasons like that. I was very disapointed by Scientology. Being a big sci-fi fan I used to find this "religion"/"cult" very appealing. And on the other hand, Scientology is really there to help drug addicts when government fails them. Actually the biggest issue with them is their greed. They are full of greed and power. A very bad combo, but a very common one nowadays.

      UNIVERSAL DEFINITION


      CULT - Any group which has a pyramid type authoritarian leadership structure with all teaching and guidance coming from the person/persons at the top. The group will claim to be the only way to God; Nirvana; Paradise; Ultimate Reality; Full Potential, Way to Happiness etc, and will use thought reform or mind control techniques to gain control and keep their members. Others may define these a little differently, but this is the simplest to work from. THE 'ORTHODOX BIBLE-BASED CULT'

      A group is called a cult because of their behaviour - not their doctrines. Doctrine is an issue in the area of Apologetics and Heresy. Most religious cults do teach what the Christian church would declare to be heresy but some do not. Some cults teach the basics of the Christian faith but have behavioural patterns that are abusive, controlling and cultic.

      This occurs in both Non-Charismatic and Charismatic churches. These groups teach the central doctrines of the Christian faith and then add the extra authority of leadership or someone's particular writings. They centre around the interpretations of the leadership and submissive and unquestioning acceptance of these is essential to be a member of good standing. This acceptance includes what we consider non-essential doctrines e.i. not salvation issues (such as the Person and Work of Christ.) The key is that they will be using mind control or undue influence on their members.

      An excellent book on this subject is "Churches that Abuse" by Dr Ronald Enroth.

      Using these guidelines of definition, Bible-based, Psychological, Educational and Commercial aberrations can easily be identified.

Pretty much everyone finds the whole "Xenu" story complete bunk because it deals with aliens, but what's so different between some alien being and the Christian "God" (who is by definition an alien since he is not from Earth)?

      Maybe L. Ron Hubbard created Scientology intending it to be something similar to the "Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster", but it spun out of control and he just ran with it?

    If you haven't studied up on Scientology it will be very hard to understand what the hell he's saying, because he uses what is called "Hubbard Speak". L. Ron Hubbard had a very odd way of speaking, constantly using acronyms (LRH, SP, TRs,... ) and he used certain phrases that his followers use ad nauseum (getting on the bridge, ...) as well as words he just plain made up (interbulate,...)

Saying this does however imply small mindedness in a way. Since mathematically it is correct, it is really just a reflection of his values which are that it is most important to be a Scientologist above anything else.
      It is also a viral thought pattern that goes like "people not like us (in our set) are suffering. People cannot be allowed to suffer. They must become like us so that they do not suffer." The best way to break this tight loop which exists in many major religions is to introduce the idea that people might not be suffering that are in outside of an arbitrarily defined set of conditions, values, morals, etc. This is always the weak point of religion.
