- LHTML, on 10/13/2008, -0/+7Mitch Hedburg deserves the No 1 but I thought Richard Pryor would be a lil bit higher.
- 11clemens, on 10/13/2008, -0/+2If you read the comments section below the actual article, you'll notice that the publisher screwed the rankings up. Richard Pryor was actually supposed to be number 2, with Robin Williams number 1. Kinda confused me the first time I read it also.
- LHTML, on 10/13/2008, -0/+1Ahhhh, makes sense now thanks.

- Surferess, on 10/13/2008, -0/+8What about Steve Martin? He is my favorite of all time.
- tykwondingo, on 10/13/2008, -0/+1No Bill Hicks but it has Ellen DeGeneres and Jerry Seinfeld?
This list is ***** - Buried.
- tykwondingo, on 10/13/2008, -0/+1No Bill Hicks but it has Ellen DeGeneres and Jerry Seinfeld?
- Observant1, on 10/13/2008, -2/+4no cheech and chong? this list is BS.
- 11clemens, on 10/13/2008, -0/+3Yeah I like Steve Martin also. It's hard to argue with this list though. Robin Williams is definately my favorite, by a long shot. The guys mind operates at mach 3. The "Live on Broadway" is one of the funniest stand-up shows that I've ever seen.
- GeorgeFord, on 10/13/2008, -0/+2Yeah, being a coke head will do that to you.
- JoeParanoid, on 10/13/2008, -1/+5What a sucky list. While Mitch deserves to be in the top 20, any list that does not start out with Lenny Bruce and Bill Hicks is not worth being on. Seinfeld? Don't make me puke.
- robbell, on 10/13/2008, -0/+2Not many of my American favourite comedians there - it seems to list quite a few comedians who probably have teams of 10-15 writers making them funny. Richard Pryor - genius, George Carlin and Robin Williams also both geniuses in their genre. Where's Bill Hicks though? My US friends who love their comedy all bemoan his untimely passing.
Eliza Shlesinger is my tip for the top - she was amazing in Last Comic Standing, and if she ever comes to North England, I'm there!
I do note with a certain amount of national pride that British Comedians are taking over Hollywood though - Ricky Gervais, Steve Coogan, Eddie Izzard, Hugh Laurie. - BXRWXR, on 10/13/2008, -1/+6No Bill Hicks? No Sam Kinison?
That list maker needs to try a little harder at failing. - Zubata, on 10/13/2008, -0/+4Roseann Barr ??????????????????/ over Steve Martin, John Belushi, Chevy Chase, and on and on and on.......
- paintgrl, on 10/13/2008, -0/+4This list in my opinion is a joke. Bill Hicks and Sam Kennison are not on it. Give me break with Seinfeld and DeGeneress, they both had big T.V impact, but by no means are at the top of the heap of comedy. Steve Martin, John Belushi and Chevy Chase have had more impact then a lot of the comedians listed. How about the fact that some of these people are more T.V stars then stand ups.
- AManWithNoName, on 10/13/2008, -1/+5This list sucks.
- DeskFlyer, on 10/14/2008, -0/+1All lists suck.
- apastafarian, on 10/13/2008, -0/+2Comedy is personal, there is no way you could make a top 10 list that would be agreeable to anyone but the writer of the list. This list is particularly sad because it avoids completely all the classic old timers from the Henny Youngman, Milton Berle, Jack Benny, Bob hope, etc. era and earlier. I don't think you could have a true top 10 without at least 1 or 2 from that era. IMHO, any list that puts Ellen DeGeneres, Jon Stewart and Roseanne Barr over George Carlin and Richard Pryor isn't worth the paper it's written on (or in this case, the bits it's carried on).
- 11clemens, on 10/13/2008, -0/+2You have to read the comments section. The writer didn't put Ellen, Stewart, or Roseanne above Carlin or Pryor. The publisher mixed the numbers up. Confused me at first, also.
- splinter09, on 10/13/2008, -1/+1I would say a bit Conservative this List ah? What happened to Jim Carrey, Steve Martin, Cheech and Chong, etc...
- Fr4nk2012, on 10/14/2008, -0/+1This list is missing:
Steve Martin
Bill Hicks
Rodney Dangerfield - TheGroje, on 10/14/2008, -0/+1"Hmmm. A top 10 list of Comedians. Does it have Bill Hicks?" [click] "No. No it does not. But it does have Roseanne Barr. And thus was the term 'Epic Fail' forever redefined".
- OfNumbers, on 10/14/2008, -0/+1I'm sorry, I really hate Roseanne Barr.
- SeaweedWater, on 10/14/2008, -0/+2What about (insert obscure comedian)?
- Falldog, on 10/14/2008, -0/+1No Louis CK?
- LimeParrot, on 10/14/2008, -0/+2If you want to see Eddie Murphy at his best, watch "Delirious". It really is one of the greatest stand-ups of all time ( it's pretty much on YouTube for whenever you're bored! http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=eddie+ ...
And Robin Williams is an amazing improv. but I disagree with him being "second to none". Collin Mockery and Ryan Styles (from Whose Line is it Anyways) are masters of improvisation and way ahead of Robin Williams. But R.Williams is still awesome... as evidenced by his WLIIA episode: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nnAYOcTpKjg - Toas7, on 10/15/2008, -0/+0Wait...wait...wait...wait.
No Hicks. No Kinison...Carlin is eighth...beat out by ***** ROSEANNE BARR? What the hell is this *****? Whoever made this list doesn't even watch comedy. Either that or they don't have the mental capacity to enjoy anything other than retard comedy. I mean, the only good comedians on that list were Carlin, Pryor and Hedberg. Hedberg definitely didn't deserve top spot, but out of that ***** fest, he should have been second (Maybe third with Pryor in second, but it could have been either way), with Carlin in a FAR first.
Oh...one last thing:
WHERE THE HELL IS LENNY BRUCE?!?!
