5. Kaleidoscope
Created by my good buddy Lee.
Here is his deviantart page - http://volcanic-penguin.deviantart.com/
Here is the submission on devart - http://volcanic-penguin.deviantart.com/art/LineTo- ...
He never gave his consent for the linked site to use his work.
6. Silhouette Sounds
Can't believe this one made it.
He filmed himself performing actions then traced it in flash.
Here's the absolute pinacle of Flash animation thus far.
Waterlollies by Adam Phillips
http://www.oohbitey.com/images/animscr/WL_thb.jpg - kickelephant, on 06/02/2008, -0/+2errrr, was I missing something with that link? cause it's a jpg
- blindmonkey, on 06/02/2008, -0/+1I think it's a screenshot or something. Here's a direct link, it is in fact a very cool animation : http://www.biteycastle.com/waterlollies.html
- championchap, on 06/03/2008, -0/+1haha, oh *****.. sorry.. i copied the link to the image rather than what the image was linking to.
Thanks for the save blindmonkey
- taliesyn30, on 06/02/2008, -8/+3Opened OK with mine....! Perhaps it was getting too many hits at the same time? :-)
- BarbaraKolbe, on 06/02/2008, -0/+9Jackson Pollock soothes chattered online nerves. Great for relaxation when *need* to be in front of computer.
- BarbaraKolbe, on 06/02/2008, -1/+1LOL! "shattered"
- awtripp, on 06/02/2008, -2/+2The Jackson Pollock app is insulting to pompous art lovers.
- timberwolfdp, on 06/03/2008, -0/+0That is art?
- awtripp, on 06/02/2008, -2/+2The Jackson Pollock app is insulting to pompous art lovers.
- BarbaraKolbe, on 06/02/2008, -1/+1LOL! "shattered"
- taliesyn30, on 06/02/2008, -2/+5I like the bird flying home - amazing animation. Then again, I like the Japanese drummers too - damn! Too much choice! :0
- Dotcommer, on 06/02/2008, -1/+7I thought the bird journey, although interesting, wasn't very good. Quite simple animation really, and whats with using low-res photos? Thats what really took the effect away from me. See pixellated trees.
- Zephik, on 06/03/2008, -0/+1I thought it had potential to be really good, but it turned out to be only pretty good at best and only at certain points.
Overall it was fairly enjoyable, just wasn't anything great.
- aleh49, on 06/02/2008, -4/+3awesome...
- Sornos, on 06/02/2008, -3/+35Missing a lot of good Flash out there.
http://www.biteycastle.com/content/animation_brk.p ...
These ones, especially the more recent ones push the limits of Flash.
Some more on Newgrounds, if you're willing to sort through a lot of crap.- NeoNcP, on 06/02/2008, -0/+2very impressive animation
- AlienHairball, on 06/02/2008, -0/+8For what it's worth, I love the biteycastle work - that guy pulls off some pretty incredible things in Flash, not to mention they are actually enjoyable movies, too. :)
- MelroseMan, on 06/02/2008, -1/+2The YuYu made me want to give animation a try. But I know I won't ever be able to top that so I quit after a day trying to learn it
- adnerb06, on 06/03/2008, -0/+1Merry Melody was pretty cool too
http://drobile.deviantart.com/art/Merry-Melony-Epi ... - USNCorpsman, on 06/03/2008, -0/+1damn, waterlollies i loved. great animation, thanks for the link
- atamusvaleo, on 06/03/2008, -0/+0i went to school with the kid who makes these.
- nonstop87, on 06/02/2008, -17/+30Yay, Mr. Babyman with 2 front page stories almost back to back!
- robocop1, on 06/02/2008, -5/+103 actually.
- nicheplayer, on 06/02/2008, -3/+12Never heard of him. Is he selling something?
- DraxusD, on 06/02/2008, -0/+14His soul.
- roosterjm2k2, on 06/02/2008, -4/+2Do you realize just how ABSOLUTELY pathetic you and your ilk look every time you whine about it? Do you? Really? I don't think you do...
- madstringer, on 06/02/2008, -7/+1Definitely some good ones, but you should really check out http://www.eye4u.com. Amazing site, fast loading, and fun to watch and navigate around in...
- sparql, on 06/02/2008, -0/+3I haven't seen flashturbation like that in a while.
- solfizz, on 06/02/2008, -2/+0Ahh, the goodold eye4u! This animation has been in existence since at least 2000! Talk about lengevity!
- solfizz, on 06/02/2008, -2/+0Ah, good old eye4u! This site has been in existence since at least 2000...talk about lengevity!!
- clueless25, on 06/02/2008, -2/+1Pretty good stuff. Icon Wars is a classic.
- hadamin, on 06/02/2008, -8/+27What about the Xiao Xiao series?
http://www.newgrounds.com/collection/xiaoxiao.html
http://www.stickpage.com/xiao.shtml
Classic - jabberwolf, on 06/02/2008, -14/+3None of these open with the iphone - WTF ?!
- djblac, on 06/02/2008, -0/+1must be your phone >:P
- NeoNcP, on 06/02/2008, -0/+1Probably because the iphone doesn't support flash yet.
- xpike, on 06/02/2008, -0/+16Missing the There She Is!! series and Littlefoot.
- q00u, on 06/03/2008, -0/+1"There She Is" and "Cake Dance" (how could I forget these?)
http://www.ae4rv.com/archive/ddautta_play.htm
Also available on Newgrounds http://sambakza.newgrounds.com/
For those that don't know, "Littlefoot" is part of the Brackenwood series, mentioned several times. Available at biteycastle.com
- q00u, on 06/03/2008, -0/+1"There She Is" and "Cake Dance" (how could I forget these?)
- TheChunt, on 06/02/2008, -4/+4While I wait as the bird is loading (or "laden" according to the online shopping site that doesnt actually have any functionality but plenty of whiz-bang), I remeber why I stopped using Flash.
- Dimbleby, on 06/02/2008, -0/+7As a professional Flash animator, I certainly am getting a kick out of these replies.
Drum Machine is not done purely in FLash, obviously, but after all these years it's still amazing.
The Guy with the door is done by a SF buddy o'mine, called Pascal Campion, nice guy. - Rippleeffect, on 06/02/2008, -1/+4The door one took forever. I was wondering when it would stop so I could watch the next.
- a1cd, on 06/02/2008, -0/+23Someone make a new Icon War with Firefox, iTunes etc..
- jamble, on 06/02/2008, -0/+5So no chance of seeing some actual new flash work then?
- Terr01, on 06/02/2008, -0/+1Well, the "cutting-edge of internet animation" is sort of like something being on the cutting edge of pocket-sized watercolor painting. It's really about issues of economy and scale, rather than technology.
- Smithamax, on 06/03/2008, -0/+1whats the indie nature of flash got to do with there not being any new animations in this article
http://newgrounds.com
go to the all time best on the portal for some really awesome *****

- john2kx, on 06/02/2008, -0/+8they forgot to include ninjai.. http://www.ninjai.com
- plastiqmanb, on 06/02/2008, -0/+2YES! i was going to comment that. Epic tale.
amazing flash, they seem to start out a little rough but for composed music and animation with a sweet story... awesome.
- plastiqmanb, on 06/02/2008, -0/+2YES! i was going to comment that. Epic tale.
- awtripp, on 06/02/2008, -1/+3WHAT ABOUT NINJAI!?
www.ninjai.com
Ninjai (the little Ninja) is the ***** man (er, boy..). If you haven't seen this flash series check it out. Ninja's, ass-kicking, and gore.- BitKid, on 06/02/2008, -0/+1I love that series. I've been following it since it came out.
- SuperJimmyJimbo, on 06/02/2008, -1/+1it's just a trick...
- kiteless, on 06/02/2008, -2/+11The music in the bird one is really irritating
- garageboy101, on 06/02/2008, -2/+2Eight is just really annoying...
- jakerudy7, on 06/02/2008, -3/+2sucks waiting for all those to load
- solfizz, on 06/02/2008, -1/+1Kaleidoscope has my pick - Click onscreen to get various effects! There's also a black or white background toggle. Have fun with it!
- jakerudy7, on 06/02/2008, -2/+3Jackson Pollock drawing FTW!
- zantos420, on 06/02/2008, -3/+1not sure if this counts but it's done in flash... just watch the opening intro...
http://www.2advanced.com- FredFredrickson, on 06/02/2008, -1/+2I find this type of site design incredibly annoying. You shouldn't have to feel like you need an instruction manual to use a website's GUI.
- zantos420, on 06/02/2008, -2/+1no appreciation for art you have
- FredFredrickson, on 06/02/2008, -1/+2I find this type of site design incredibly annoying. You shouldn't have to feel like you need an instruction manual to use a website's GUI.
- RackAddict, on 06/02/2008, -0/+1No. 2 didn't work for me, but here's (I think) a mirror for it: http://gprime.net/flash.php/drummachine
- NeoNcP, on 06/02/2008, -1/+1I love seeing new (recommended) flash animations. Thanks for the post babyman
- DraxusD, on 06/02/2008, -0/+1A lot of these are old :(
- NeoNcP, on 06/03/2008, -0/+1sure I've seen one of them, but some have to be new to somebody
- DraxusD, on 06/02/2008, -0/+1A lot of these are old :(
- marcoionox, on 06/02/2008, -1/+1Too bad Xombie is missing from the list (although the series already ended). That was awesome Flash work with a good story.
http://www.xombified.com/ - myranttoyou, on 06/02/2008, -4/+2These are only hard to do because Macromedia made the IDE and language so horrible to work with.
Let me know when there is a real reason to unblock Flash.- digitalpencil, on 06/02/2008, -0/+1I'll admit the IDE leaves a lot to be desired, but you can always just use something like Sepy. Personally, i don't get why they don't just rip the ide out of flex and drop it into flash *crosses fingers for CS4* but apparently it's complicated. The language is great though, OOP under AS2/3 is brilliant and AS3 is so damn powerful!
Flash has come along in leaps and bounds, all I can hope for is a better code window and page indexing.

- swrostmore, on 06/02/2008, -0/+2redacted
- Godmil, on 06/02/2008, -1/+5There is some impessive stuff there, but nothing has impressed me as much in flash as this animation set to Radioheads acoustic version of Creep: http://www.koreus.com/animation/radiohead_creep.ht ...
- digitalpencil, on 06/02/2008, -1/+2got to love tokyoplastic.. their site's straight awesome.!
- roflsd, on 06/02/2008, -2/+3I was waiting for the mind blowing part... it never comes.
Cool? - yes
Mindblowing? - no - FredFredrickson, on 06/02/2008, -1/+6The first one just wasn't that impressive. Hey, you can cut out photos and put poorly animated flash animations over them - way to go!
- luet, on 06/02/2008, -0/+2If I'm not mistaken, that was Bjork in the bird flying home swf. What song? I really like it.
- BitKid, on 06/02/2008, -0/+2No it was a band from Denmark called Under Byen. The track used was called "Plantage". Didn't you read the credits.
- AUniquePerson, on 06/03/2008, -0/+2It sounded like Bjork to me. Not much else sounds like her...
- krc1, on 06/02/2008, -0/+1http://www.xdude.com/portfolio/
- nemojonze, on 06/02/2008, -1/+1http://www.lucidcircus.com/showreel/
some of the best flash I have seen all in one place- swrostmore, on 06/02/2008, -0/+1You don't know what Flash is, do you?
- nemojonze, on 06/02/2008, -0/+1Watch the WHOLE thing next time
- Jan33, on 06/02/2008, -1/+1http://www.peiro.de/control2.swf
:) - piesforyou, on 06/02/2008, -1/+10This list absolutely sucks. There is so much better stuff out there, it's almost as if whoever made it chose them completely randomly. See above comment links, especially biteycastle.com !
- luet, on 06/02/2008, -0/+1Oh my god... I can't believe they linked the blackguyfalling.swf. soo ancient
- eurynome420, on 06/02/2008, -0/+3Digg should make a "MrBabyMan" section.
- roosterjm2k2, on 06/02/2008, -0/+1And we can put all of the whiners (you) there as well...
- JonTheGoose, on 06/02/2008, -0/+2As I was browsing this article and got down to number 3 a thought just occured to me...
Did anyone ever get their free swingline stapler???
I didn't get mine... - YodaJones, on 06/02/2008, -0/+1Very cool. Great works.
- snobrder218, on 06/02/2008, -0/+15The Falling Dude is not that "How Do They Do That" worthy. That one I could probably do, and I'm not that great at Flash.
What happened to Animator Vs. Animation?
http://youtube.com/watch?v=qo1d6ttbAq8
Epic awesome - over900000, on 06/02/2008, -0/+4The drum machine is at least 8 years old.
- rryanhayes, on 06/02/2008, -0/+0#7, Pascal Campion, such a brilliant animator, and as a rarity, an amazingly nice guy as well.
- pinje, on 06/02/2008, -0/+8I know there are probably thousands of animations out there which deserve to be on this list but a personal favorite of mine has to be Low Morales animation of Creep by Radiohead. http://www.lowmorale.co.uk/creep/flash/creep_FLASH ... just fantastic and great attention to detail.
- mrASSMAN, on 06/03/2008, -0/+2That's been one of my favorites.. released on newgrounds a couple months ago.
- djixl, on 06/02/2008, -7/+3aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..........aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
- raydeen, on 06/02/2008, -0/+0Here's an oldie but a goodie.
