'Truthiness' Could Swing Colbert Into Marvel White House
blog.wired.com — Here's the good news: Stephen Colbert is running for president in the Marvel Universe. And, according to Marvel Editor-in-Chief Joe Quesada, the unhinged television superstar is gaining serious momentum.

- locojones, on 10/06/2008, -24/+3Are you really serious? What makes you think that two comedians (and I use that term loosely because most of their material isn't even funny) are the best choice to run this country?
- AtomicTheory, on 10/06/2008, -2/+16You did see that this is "in the Marvel Universe" didn't you?
- catfoodgood, on 10/06/2008, -3/+13Well, we let a psychotic clown run it for the last 8 years....

I TOTALLY agree with locojones!!!!
McCain and Pail are WAY funnier than Colbert and Stewart!

- SyntraFTW, on 10/06/2008, -1/+16Nice. Wasn't it Marvel that basically had Kevin Rose on the front of a comic?

- tiraspol, on 10/06/2008, -10/+24***** Obama/Mclame...their already bought and paid for....My vote is for John Stewart and Stephen Colbert!!!
- Shiftgood, on 10/06/2008, -5/+4So we know McCain has 7?9? lobbyists on his staff 2 or 3 of which are from Hess oil... plus the guy is running the same platform of the last 8 years.
Who bought and paid for Obama? what corporations? do they need war to thrive?
Im actually being serious and trying to promote an unbiased view... i just want to know.- dgaspard, on 10/06/2008, -1/+4Obama voted for the 700 billion bailout. He is same as the republicans as far as I am concerned.
The national healthcare is more about corporations such as wal-mart and target who have 1000's who employees who make $7.00. Those corporation would see a huge benefit if they didn't have to pay for insurance for those people.
Also corporations that are creating wind, solar, and nuclear energy give Obama a lot of money. It is because they are expecting all the tax breaks and benefits that oil has been given over the last 8 years.
Just keep in mind, he is running a $500 million campaign for a job that makes $250,000 / year. He owes a lot of people. - napshock, on 10/06/2008, -1/+3@dgaspard: hmm.. it actually sounds like a win/win/win situation. Win for ordinary citizens (health, lower taxes, and more jobs), win for the corporate giants & startups (alt energy), and win for the environment...
Domestic capitalism sound a lot better than waging a war, right? - enclaved, on 10/06/2008, -0/+5"Just keep in mind, he is running a $500 million campaign for a job that makes $250,000 / year. He owes a lot of people"
I thought it was 400k/yr for president? Regardless, At least with Obama he owes a lot of his money to an unprecedented amount of individual people. - Shiftgood, on 10/06/2008, -1/+2specifics anyone? i got a snickers ill wait.

quick google search - haydesigner, on 10/06/2008, -1/+3@dgaspard: "He owes a lot of people"
Yeah.
The AMERICAN people. - enclaved, on 10/06/2008, -1/+3wilbur, i love those stats each time they are brought up to sound like it is actually the company donating the money. At least this presentation cleared up that common misconception.
"These tables list the top donors to these candidates in the 2008 election cycle. The organizations themselves did not donate , rather the money came from the organization’s PAC, its individual members or employees or owners, and those individuals’ immediate families. Organization totals include subsidiaries and affiliates" - Shiftgood, on 10/06/2008, -0/+2Im not surprised to see Stanford on that list for Obama (where I live). You would get laughed out of town for supporting the McCain ticket.
So, the top schools, and technology companies are for Obama. (some banks)
Banks, telecom and military for McCain.
And I dont think this list represents who "bought and sold" the candidates. This is just showing where top donations from PACs come from.
Halliburtion is to cheney as Hess Oil is to McCain.
as Obama is to _________
someone fill that in? i need to know which company to buy stock in if he wins.
- dgaspard, on 10/06/2008, -1/+4Obama voted for the 700 billion bailout. He is same as the republicans as far as I am concerned.
- themastersb, on 10/06/2008, -0/+2How about voting for Ron Paul in all seriousness? The guy who wants to get rid of the Fed and actually provide a giant leap forward for global civilization.
- onelikeseabass, on 10/07/2008, -0/+2Write-in votes are handled differently depending on which state you look at.

Colbert is swinging on a strand of webbing past a stop light. Spidey is under his arm, hands outstretched.- Shiftyeyedgoat, on 10/06/2008, -4/+2with his feet positioned and his fingers gripping an imaginary support.

- mcsenget, on 10/06/2008, -7/+2Wish they would have Ron Paul run against him and win so that we could depict how nice life would be.
- cadmiumpaint, on 10/06/2008, -10/+5The ONLY place Ron Paul belongs is in comic books.

- longbow486, on 10/06/2008, -0/+4Your in!
- frieddonuts, on 10/06/2008, -1/+7Us Gen-Yers might hate the MSM, but from what I've seen, most of the news from non-MSM sources on the internet is incredibly biased and inaccurate, based more on rumor than cold hard fact. There are exceptions such as Politico and FiveThirtyEight.com, but all of the Crooks and Liars and Huffington Post wannabes out there drown them out. I'll stick to the MSM until these jokers get their act together.
- ancientshoes, on 10/06/2008, -1/+2***** PC, ***** the MSM, unnecessary racial tension don't fit in ideology with the rest of what you put in.

- Wangeye, on 10/06/2008, -0/+4Too bad the majority just bitch on internet sites...digg... and don't put anything into action.
- jgtg32a, on 10/06/2008, -0/+3Which fits right in with the Gen-Y
- Maenad71, on 10/07/2008, -0/+0I was going to say "what about Anonymous" but then realised that everybody I know who is part of that are Gen-Xers.
- dafragsta, on 10/07/2008, -0/+2You seriously believe yours is the first generation to try? I say yours is probably the most disingenuous with the highest percentage of selfishness. Don't worry though, it's a trend. Mine was second most selfish and most self important. It's a total stroke of irony because every generation since the kids of the 60s has wanted to change the world in a very disingenuous and apathetic way.
There hasn't been one leader who has been able to unite the majority in a search for the greater good in a long time. I think you guys will be severely disillusioned if Obama inherits a great depression. He'll be a lame duck from day one. - Maenad71, on 10/07/2008, -0/+0I seriously hope you're right. Unfortunately all the Gen-Ys I know (and that's a lot since I'm a mature aged uni student) are too timid and conservative to say boo about anything. But that's in Melbourne, Australia.
- jwoelmer2, on 10/06/2008, -6/+2I was expecting to see "onion.com" based on the odd title...

- quistoman, on 10/06/2008, -1/+3Truth didn't seem to work so well for Ron Paul in the real world so maybe in fantasy it will do wonders for Stephen Colbert?
- Maenad71, on 10/07/2008, -0/+0Truthiness isn't the same thing. In fact, it's the opposite.
