- Neticule, on 03/11/2008, -2/+12Wow, 51 steps, really nice outcome though! Nice tutorial man!
- geeshock, on 03/11/2008, -2/+6For an image like this 51 steps is pretty good.
- TheKingInYellow, on 03/11/2008, -2/+251 steps is overkill (as are a majority of psdtuts' tutorials). most of these can be done in about half of the steps.
- marktastic, on 03/11/2008, -0/+3Write one then
- TheKingInYellow, on 03/11/2008, -0/+1apply the techniques from this tututorial:
http://psdtuts.com/tutorials-effects/advanced-glow ...
to do what this tutorial does:
http://psdtuts.com/drawing/fiery-photoshop-space-e ...
and you've eliminated about half of the steps. and is it really necessary to have 5 steps dedicated to 'go to this link and download this graphic'? all i'm saying is that 51 steps is overkill when a majority of the steps should be common photoshopping knowledge. - TheKingInYellow, on 03/11/2008, -0/+1ok. give me a topic. what do you want to learn?
- TheKingInYellow, on 03/11/2008, -0/+1apply the techniques from this tututorial:
- Bowden, on 03/11/2008, -1/+0I agree. How about 7 minute abs?

- AbhinavSood, on 03/11/2008, -1/+1Simply Awesome! Thanks for the psdtut :D
- tripple-breve, on 03/11/2008, -1/+1Wow. Love the colors. Beautiful!
- Narcism, on 03/11/2008, -12/+5Buried for Len's Flare.
- joshf52, on 03/11/2008, -1/+6Dugg for Lens Flare.
- bradleyland, on 03/11/2008, -0/+2Dug for _proper_ use of lens flare.
- Xanin, on 03/11/2008, -1/+12Dugg down for using an apostrophe in 'lens'
- psevium, on 03/11/2008, -0/+16Damn that Len and his Flare
- joshf52, on 03/11/2008, -1/+6Dugg for Lens Flare.
- TheKingInYellow, on 03/11/2008, -8/+5if you have to learn what "the rule of thirds" is from a psdtuts tutorial you should just go ahead and jump off a bridge.
- acidandspatter, on 03/11/2008, -0/+1It's not that hard to understand. If anything it should smack you in the face and you'll realise that's why you think something looks aesthetically right/wrong
- nphase, on 03/11/2008, -2/+1Does this remind anyone else of Jens Karlsson/Chapter3's work from way back? all that abstract, deviantart stuff?
Stuff like http://www.chapter3.net/portfolio/project/print/co ... ? - mediaspree, on 03/11/2008, -3/+4You used a lens flare....really?
- GalacticRerun, on 03/11/2008, -0/+2To good effect. Not the usual clueless method. So what's the problem.
- ,,|,_, on 03/11/2008, -0/+1That was my first reaction too but I have to admit, it does fit...
- TheKingInYellow, on 03/11/2008, -3/+2how many times is psdtuts' going to make a tutorial about making glowing particles and 3d strokes in space? this latest tutorial seems like they're satirizing themselves. 51 steps to do what you've already done in at least 3 other tutorials? come on.
- GrandmasterB, on 03/11/2008, -0/+3This is much better than the 'exploding' appendages tutorial we saw last week. I doubt that I would spend the time to try it out though at 51 total steps. The lens flare isn't all that bad...i'm sure if you were to snap a pic in space you might get a little glare from the sun. :)
- TheKingInYellow, on 03/11/2008, -1/+1if the flare is used tastefully and is subtle and realistic then i think it's ok. it's better if used on video. however, most people just add a lens flare because they don't know any better and that's why it's so easy to make fun of.
- halfgook, on 03/11/2008, -5/+2stop adding text your damn comps if you don't know how to effectively use typography.
edit: also, rofl @ lens flare - MasterThief117, on 03/11/2008, -2/+1I don't see why there is a need to criticize the tutorial for using lens flare. Sure it was an overused meme once, but it never made it any less of a useful tool in Photoshop.
Also, isn't it a given that a Photoshop tutorial has [PICS]? - Kaervek, on 03/11/2008, -3/+5Dugg and Desktop'd.
"Buried for Len's Flare."
Who is Len? - mechman, on 03/11/2008, -1/+2Step 42 is awesome just by itself, honestly. Imagine that on a business card.
- TransmitThis, on 03/11/2008, -3/+4Couldn't care less about some standardised two thirds rule - this focal image is way too far off to the side
don't particularly like the image either to be honest - does't really look like an impact (how I think an impact of such magnitude would look anyway)
Still nice of you to write a tut- heavyal, on 03/11/2008, -0/+1I have to agree with you. It's a nice picture, but it doesn't look like much of an impact really. There is just no 'thump' to it. And too, the thing about rules such as the two thirds thing is that once you know the rules you should know how they can be broken - it would have been better (in my opinion) had the author included a star belt or some such that took the eye of the viewer to the center of the image rather than pulling it off to one side which is what happens in this image.
- Ground0, on 03/11/2008, -0/+1Dugg for new wallpaper!
Thanks! - bakshi, on 03/11/2008, -4/+4Photoshopped.

- sunaren2001, on 03/11/2008, -0/+2Informative Tutorials !!!!
- foolawrence, on 03/11/2008, -1/+2This also for make good visual depiction of fart.
- pepemt, on 03/11/2008, -0/+3those two stock images used were completely unnecessary. The same result could have been achieved just using some noise and a motion blur for that first one.
- moiremusic, on 03/11/2008, -0/+2Also, Flaming Pear has a Photoshop filter called Lunar Cell which could have easily been used to create that planet. 30-day free trial:

Though I must say... as long as it's been out, I've never found a reason to use it.

- snotrokit, on 03/11/2008, -0/+5damn you guys are harsh. For the NON-PRO photoshoppers, this is a great tutorial. For the Pro's, well, you all know how to do this, and every dang one of you has a different method of producing the same, or similar result.
I have a great way of doing it too, I just can't seem to get that darned tractor beam fired up this morning or I would show you how to..... oh nevermind.- mythicflux, on 03/11/2008, -0/+1Just be sure you provide enough power for that tracker beam. Maximum power requirement should be 1.21gigawatts. Make sure you are at least over 9000!!!

- JohnnyRad, on 03/11/2008, -0/+3quality tutorial...photoshop tutorials are usually long and drawn out but this one is....oh wait...50 something steps??
the most fun part of photoshop is figuring out how to solve a problem on your own, though this does have some inspiring ideas. - sumeshpremraj, on 03/11/2008, -0/+1The guy's worked hard for 50+ steps. But I wonder which newbie'd go through all those steps? As for professionals, this is child's play (and less than the 8 hours that this guy took).
- TheKingInYellow, on 03/11/2008, -0/+1speaking from experience, if you complain about this tutorial someone will come along and digg you down for some strange reason.
- spullenza, on 03/11/2008, -1/+0This is pretty amazing work. Just when you think you've seen the capabilities of photo shop, some new and amazing things get brought to your attention. Excellent artwork.
