One of THE COOLEST Guitars (PIC)
gizmodo.com — O Lord, bless this thy Angel Sword Guitar, that with it thou mayst blow Christina Aguilera and A-HA and Ricky Martin and Enrique Iglesias to tiny bits, in thy mercy. If you want it, follow these steps: first shalt thou get to eBay. Then shalt thou pay $4,500, no more, no less. Sadly it won't play Guitar Hero. Jump for a high definition image.

Cool guitar though.- mrgreenjeans, on 10/11/2007, -83/+107He referencing Monty Python's "Holy Grail" The part with the Holy Hand Grenade.
The guitar is gay.- L4WL3RS34L, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3The guitar is a homosexual or happy? Either way, that's one badass guitar.
- KiLLB0T, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Can it be both?
- Akaji, on 10/11/2007, -45/+194<sarcasm>
Yeah, let's just call everything we don't like "gay." Mr. Green Jeans, you're gay. You're gayer than gay - you're gay gay. See, I'm cool, because I'm saying things are gay because I don't like them.
</sarcasm>
*sigh*... I hate people.- tetsura, on 10/11/2007, -7/+2you're well gay, get a life

- kushed, on 10/11/2007, -35/+139Akaji, quit being so gay.
- hansblix, on 10/11/2007, -6/+146If I saw a someone in a band using this thing, I dont think i could ever stop laughing.
- marynour, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1notice how there are no picture with someone actually holding the thing? i think it would not be the easiest thing and like you said it would be quite funny. But it is nice to maybe buy and just put aside on display , but that is if you run some sort of museum or maybe a store.
- rosefu, on 10/11/2007, -3/+21Just because it's pretty doesn't mean it's...

- engme, on 10/11/2007, -11/+10Guitar looks pretty cool. I wish they had photo of the back side of the top. I'm curious how the strings are tightened.

- Otto, on 10/11/2007, -15/+5@Akaji: No, he's saying it's gay because it looks like a guitar that a gay man would purchase. Whether he likes it or not is not the question.
I mean, face facts man, that guitar is super-duper gay. It's just really, really, gay. - h3ndrix, on 10/11/2007, -7/+15No humbuckers? Bet it wails like *****.
- Lewie, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Looks like a humbucker to me
- pr0t0, on 10/11/2007, -7/+15I wouldn't go so far as to say it's gay...because that is totally insensitive, disrespectful, and juvenile.
I'm just saying it's something you would have seen at a Queen show.
"...We are the champions, my friend..." - LogicBomB, on 10/11/2007, -11/+3The only gayer shape you could play from would be a penis-shaped guitar.
- razrielle, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4http://www.carverdoug.com/wang.html
- stratdog25, on 10/11/2007, -5/+18It's unique... I'll give it that. I still prefer my hot magenta HM Strat (yeah, the one Greg Howe used to endorse. Now THAT looks gay).
@engme - It probably uses double ball end strings, like the old Steinbergers used. The spring-loaded bridge moves forward, you slide the strings in, then you tighten and tune via the machine heads on the back of the bridge. Its a fairly common design for headless guitars. The big problem I have is there's no discernable volume pot.
A lot of these guys are right - Ibanez, Jackson, ESP, and Fender are still making great instruments... Gibson, not so much, ever since the company was sold in 1986 for a mere $5million. Modern SG's and 'Pauls just don't sound or feel the same as the vintage stuff... But I'm all about a unique player having a unique instrument... it really becomes part of you.
But it DOES look gay. - TriZz, on 10/11/2007, -14/+3That guitar is DEFINITELY GAY! I saw that guitar getting ***** in the ass by the lead singer of some 80's hair band like last week! THAT is what makes it gay!!
- PhoneGuy, on 10/11/2007, -3/+1I dub thee king of cheese. Someone should jam that guitar back into the rock it was drawn out of.
I suspect it also has the tonal properties of candlestick rather than a fine piece of vintage wood. - mutroniii, on 10/11/2007, -3/+5@stratdog25:
The Gibsons made in the late 90's to present day rival just about anything they've made since the late 60's. 70's norlin era gibson's were, for the most part, crap. - Myonosken, on 10/11/2007, -6/+2This is almost as ***** as those Warlocks, yet you know every goth kid (and 40 year old who doesn't realise shred is dead) will go and buy it.
I'll stick to my Dot VS. - strafefire, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6Somebody has been playing TOO MUCH Final Fantasy...
- XedLos, on 10/11/2007, -4/+5I like this one better
http://www.crazygizmoz.com/images/escopetarras-gun-guitar.jpg - codechino, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11@h3ndrix -- uhh, no humbuckers? look again. its got one pickup, and its a humbucker.
- merreborn, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2This thing's pretty short on features for a $4,500 guitar. Only one pickup? Hardtail bridge? No volume/tone pots? 20 fret fretboard? And you're stuck with double-ball end strings?
The *only* thing this guitar has going for it is looks, and possibly quality construction/tone (and the only way to tell that, would be to actually play it before you buy it). Feature-wise, you can get a better-equipped axe for $100 at wal-mart.- andburn1, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2But it looks SO ***** COOL. Come on man, look at those details. That is sick, I don't give a ***** how it sounds.
- dafragsta, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3I can't speak for GIbson, because I've never had the bank to buy one of their instruments (or in the cases where I could have, it was the most bare bones "Vintage Mahogany" Les Paul which is pretty much a slab of mahogany with no maple top), but I can speak for their Epiphone line, which IMHO is outstanding for the money. I bought an Epi Les Paul Classic with a beautiful quilted maple top. The aesthetics of the guitar were near-perfect. I took it to a professional guitar tech here in Austin and had the frets dressed, the action slammed down, and strobe tuned. Turned out that the frets were nearly perfect from the factory and the neck was also as close to straight as can be expected when changing string gauges (I play with .009s and it was strung with either .010 or .011) After that, I replaced all of the electronics (except the switch) with Gibson factory parts which required a little bit of reaming on the part of the pots, but that took 10 minutes with a sander bit and a dremel. I also replaced the stock pickups with a Gibson Burstbucker 3 at the bridge and a Burstbucker 2 at the neck. Basically, I now have a $400 guitar with about $400 worth of work put into it, but I think the sum of $800 vs any Gibson at Guitar Center would still yield far more bang for the buck. It kills that Vintage Mahogany.
I've played a lot of guitars and while it's very subjective, I think I enjoy playing that Epi LP more than the PRSes (which do have better access to the higher frets) or any other far more expensive guitar. - GenerousLinus, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1i fail at posting
- JoeBlunt, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3@Merreborn: so f'ing true. My custom Carvin set me back $1200 and it has way better features.
Ok, this axe in the shape of a sword looks cool, but for $4500, it ought to come with a fake stone (cushy foam gtr stand) that our hero can pull said instrument from as he/she seizes control of the stage. A strategically placed spotlight with a choir of angels singing through the PA would complete the scene. The sword-axe emerges from the stone which our hero proceeds to shred on through marshall stacks turned up to 11 while the barbaric hordes mosh before them.
Btw, Scott Ian plays a bass axe actually shaped like a battle axe. Is this sword guitar destined to join in battle alongside Scott? Only the crazy hermit has seen the future of the sword! - snapcase, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2$4,500 $4,500 $4,500 $4,500 $4,500 $4,500 $4,500 $4,500 $4,500 $4,500 $4,500 $4,500 $4,500 $4,500 $4,500 $4,500 $4,500 $4,500 $4,500 oh and did I mention $4,500?
Seriously how many freaking times does it need to say $4,500?
And honestly this guitar isn't that cool. It looks heavy and awkward to play. And I'm sure it looks way better in the case than on stage.............$4,500 - combatchuck, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2It's a nice looking guitar, but it would sound like crap. Only 2 pickups, and they're too close to the ends of the strings. Take a look at a normal guitar, and you'll see the difference.
- GenerousLinus, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Two? Thats a humbucker.
- WileEPeyote, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2This is the most rediculous guitar I have ever seen. I am sure there are more rediculous looking ones, but this tops my list.
It belongs in a movie like "Spinal Tap"... - mercurysquad, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1It probably sounds like ***** anyways. And only one pickup too.

We're much better off than the norlin days, but you still have to pay big buck$ for long tenon. - EnterDaMatrix, on 10/11/2007, -5/+1Ick. Paul Reed Smith is the best guitar company.
- mutroniii, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2@EnterDaMatrix
Sure, maybe if you're in Creed.. If I want a strat, I'll play a strat. If I want a Les Paul, I'll play a LP. PRS is just a crummy compromise between the two.. - dafragsta, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1PRS and Carvin probably do have the market cornered on pure flexibility. They build a lot of models with coil tapping in mind, which IMHO is probably the single most effective way to make the tone more polymorphic.
- mercurysquad, on 10/11/2007, -0/+260 years for a strat. So by your own measure, strats are better.
- Wolfie351, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1PRS used to be the best guitar company. Now it's semi-pro quality that looks pretty unless you want to spend $5000+ Any pre-'95 PRS is better than any signature model produced today
- mutroniii, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3If only they had stuck to the same design and parts.
- crazybrit, on 10/11/2007, -17/+12Guitar Hero sucks.

Yes, Guitar Freak has been available for many years....in Japan. There are quite a few arcades all around the world that carry the machines and there are home versions available on the PS2.
- CheckPlease, on 10/11/2007, -11/+6Wow, that's so awesome, I can almost forget that ESP makes ***** guitars. Oh wait, no I can't, ESP makes ***** guitars.
- bendedavis, on 10/11/2007, -3/+11For you to even know anything about guitars and think that this is cool is just pathetic. Have fun restringing it (floyd rose, uck).
- 4degrees, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5comming from a Yamaha, Player's Choice(walmart), or Epiphone fan...
ESP makes pretty good guitars, is what metallica used for all those years, same with megadeth (dave switched from jackson to ESP).
But i digress...
to each his own i suppose. - hikaruzero, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6ESP makes great guitars. So does Ibanez. And Fender. And Gibson.
But all of them also made crappy guitars.
It's not like brands *only* make godly or foul guitars.
IMO higher-end ESPs are rather nice but the LTDs are pretty lame. I admit I do prefer RGs over an ESP any day though. ;) - suriyou, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4@4degrees
Yeah, but Dave recently switched from ESP to Dean :/ - lasko, on 10/11/2007, -3/+1esp's are not good guitar's. they're ok at best. same with yamaha. they both have very bland, generic tones. anyone that thinks esp's or yamaha's are good guitars also probably think that a jcm 2000 is a good head just because it's a marshall(and one of the worst marshalls in a long list of bad heads). some people need to learn about gear before talking about it.
- 4degrees, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2@lasko
you are right one would need to know(research) something about gear before opening their mouth(goes for any subject really). I can't say for sure but i assume that you did not know that the "muddy" and "bland" sound you are referring to in ESP guitars (i dont know about yamaha, personally the only thing americans can build right is a guitar) has everything to do with the pickups. I slapped some duncan's in one of my ESPs and that baby screams now! Not to say the rest of the guitar is not important, but ***** pickups will make any guitar sound like crap.
EMG pickups are a good all around pickup, they will sound good in pretty much anything, even a plywood guitar(body not neck) I made in shop class for ***** and giggles. - lasko, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2@4degrees
even though i never said muddy(and if the tone was to muddy, i would blame the amp more than the guitar or pickups) i do agree with you that having good pickups are important. especially when it comes to a guitari like esp's. stock pickups are always garbage. but, good pickups will not save a bad guitar. just like a good guitar will not save a bad amp, a good amp will not save a bad cab, etc. if you want good sounding guitar, get something better than esp, then change the pickups if need be. but don't get an esp and expect amazing tone just because you got new pickups. you'll just end up with good tone....for an esp. - codechino, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2@hikaruzero - thanks for making this point. most people have opinions about brands and stick to their guns without ever hearing what sounds a certain guitar can produce. I've played high end guitars of all sorts, including ESP (I own one), PRS, Gibson, Jackson, etc, and I'm convinced that none of them are vastly superior. They're all just different, so you have to use them for different purposes. That said, my favorite guitar is a 120 dollar yamaha, which earns me a lot of criticism from brand elitists.
- dafragsta, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Metallica probably plays far more Gibsons than ESPs. Hetfield plays a Gibson Explorer and in the Some Kind of Monster movie, they have a room filled with about 500 guitars. I'd say most them were Gibsons. Kirk Hammet is also seen playing on an LP several times. For meaty tone, be it blues, rock, or metal, Gibson kind of invented that with the mahogany/maple and humbucker setup.
- 80hd, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0gross. Just gross.
I wouldn't want to be in the same room as that tacky thing
- Otnip, on 10/11/2007, -5/+3That ain't an axe, its a sword :) There's no possible comfortable way to play that sitting down it looks like... Very cool design though.

- lasko, on 10/11/2007, -4/+1even if the guitar was a neckthrough and it came with a free Dr. Z, i still wouldnt buy it.
- dotspace, on 10/11/2007, -10/+9Dug down for inaccuracy. That is not a cool guitar.
- thcobbs, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9"O Lord, bless this thy Angel Sword Guitar, that with it thou mayst blow Christina Aguilera"
Didn't know "she" was packing.... "She" tucks very well. - actorboy, on 10/11/2007, -1/+17Is Manowar making a comeback?
- JorgeGT, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2with blood in their voices... and stuff !
- codechino, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3well, the gods said to play it louder than hell, and they promised that they would.
- MattTS, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Manowar never really went away. It's probably not manly enough for them.
- budgetguitar, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Other bands play, Manowar kill
- Lifeprong, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7Bah! Draco for the win!

- falcon413, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2those things are awesome!
I think the coolest is the Venus Angel
- magikker, on 10/11/2007, -3/+4Great for defending our self after you are boo'd off stage.
- suriyou, on 10/11/2007, -5/+8I think this is the most awesome guitar I have ever ***** seen.
Then again.. I am quite the homosexual. - raskali, on 10/11/2007, -3/+1That is so neat! Especially cause it's made out of lego.
- Xfrost4, on 10/11/2007, -0/+13Dugg because it slays teen pop stars!!
- digitallysick, on 10/11/2007, -0/+16By the power of grayskull!
- xshaisu, on 10/11/2007, -6/+2I think I just had homosexual tendencies during the 1.54336 seconds I viewed that pic.
- akinnee, on 10/11/2007, -4/+5sorry but i think it sucks.
- rushfan, on 10/11/2007, -3/+5Cheesy looking and I imagine the guitar is very poorly balanced weight wise. It has to be insanely body heavy.
- 5aculu5, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Better than neck heavy like cheap BC Riches or SGs for that matter.
- sp1keNARF, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3esp makes the best guitars. too bad the only one to get on the front page is totally whack.
this one is an esp forum fan favorite: http://www.espguitars.com/images/gallery/M2_Black_Dahlia.jpg- lasko, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4you probably think crate makes the best cabs too.
- 5aculu5, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Hey Crate Cabs make my Aria Pro II sound killer. Lasko is probably a Westone man or perhaps prefers a classic Series 10.
- EnterDaMatrix, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2That's sad.
- frepnog, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1that is one ugly ***** guitar right there.
- Wolfie351, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Any custom shop can make a pro quality guitar. ESP production guitars were pretty good in the 80s and early 90s, but I haven't played a recent one that I would say was good for the price.
- obxjdt, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Isn't ESP Sears/K-Mart brand....LOL
Beginner's equipment!
- lasko, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4you probably think crate makes the best cabs too.
