- Dardoush, on 11/12/2007, -98/+3This site is awsome!!
It is better than my site lol http://www.designrific.com- MalDON, on 11/09/2007, -12/+3So why did you tell us? Smashing Magazine is my favorite site. Period.
- gboning, on 11/09/2007, -9/+2smooth.
- VanillaStarfish, on 11/09/2007, -2/+0I didn't look at the site, but Christ, I hope they didn't have Papyrus font. Everyone uses this font excessively.
Just within the past year, I've seen nearly 20 - 30 advertisements from different companies use this.
It was funny at first, but then I realized that no one has any originality. - SgtPeppers, on 11/10/2007, -1/+12Here the full font-pack (zipped)(copy from below)
http://rapidshare.com/files/68552179/smashing_font ...- billygotee, on 11/10/2007, -5/+1Aarrgh *****
- pelline, on 11/10/2007, -41/+5Love smashingmagazine, I've been visiting them a lot, and yet another great font collection. thanks.
- InsideLine, on 11/10/2007, -49/+6Smashing Magazine does it again. They own the Digg frontpage.
- canadianehme, on 11/10/2007, -42/+5This is great, thanks!
- Scheissen, on 11/10/2007, -3/+1Oh Kanaduh!
- punXzilla, on 11/10/2007, -37/+4very nice collection
- guymal, on 11/10/2007, -39/+5Great fonts, no *****.
- zeromous, on 11/11/2007, -41/+4Yeah this is way better than the usual free fonts crap that I get suckered into visiting.... I'll have to remember "SMASHING" links as being just that!
- zeromous, on 11/11/2007, -7/+3WTF is wrong with this comment diggnazis?
- RunnyBabbit, on 11/11/2007, -2/+2Godwin's law, everybody.
- zeromous, on 11/11/2007, -7/+3WTF is wrong with this comment diggnazis?
- RandomMerryman, on 11/10/2007, -28/+0Some good stuff in there - clever niche fonts and some, er, smashing ones for headlines on webpages when used in conjunction with sIFR. Thanks for posting the link.
- DJS2005, on 11/11/2007, -32/+1Awesome!
- thenotself, on 11/10/2007, -34/+1Yet another awesome link I have to remember to come back to
- fuzzynyanko, on 11/10/2007, -22/+6Very good list, for once. Most "amazing fonts" lists consist of typefaces that cost $20 per .ttf file (not per font face), so if you want to use it professionally and you're starting out, it could cost up to $100.
- deeboe, on 11/10/2007, -14/+55I cant wait to go home and masturbate to this website! It is soooo good!
- ExtremeRyno, on 11/11/2007, -20/+9So I checked this out expecting to be wowed. Ehrm...These are pretty much just a slightly stylized Times New Roman...How are these worth digging? I think in the 15 years I've been doing print/media design, I've been asked to use it (or a close clone) one time.
Not professional, just redundant.- nahoda, on 11/12/2007, -4/+3I don't think that you even looked at the site then. Although there were some stylized roman fonts, there were many other fonts with no resemblance.
- themoosejuice, on 11/12/2007, -3/+7They are worth digging because they are free. When a name brand slightly stylized Times cost $299 from a name brand vendor, its nice to have these.
- AnimZero, on 11/09/2007, -0/+1The scary thing is, there are actually $299 fonts. They're usually packs, but the packs are $299.
- pbaehr, on 11/12/2007, -1/+25I disagree. It's nice to see some free fonts that aren't letters made out of ice cubes or ants or ice cubes with ants in them or some stupid ***** like that.
- asa400, on 11/10/2007, -0/+5Dugg for random example...ice cubes with ants...WTF?!?!
- zeromous, on 11/11/2007, -0/+5Have you seen free fonts before? Its hardly out of left field :D
- HonoredMule, on 11/09/2007, -0/+2What, never seen Antice 12pt bold before?
It usually comes with the Ant package, along with FireAnt, Cheer-lAnter, and Gothic Army Ant Serif.
- asa400, on 11/10/2007, -0/+5Dugg for random example...ice cubes with ants...WTF?!?!
- Nuphor, on 11/12/2007, -1/+6Congratulations on having kept your job as your designer regardless of the fact that you're blind.
- ellabee, on 11/10/2007, -11/+19I like fonts, the same way I like stationery and art supply stores. I'm such a dork.
Dugg.- spyrochaete, on 11/10/2007, -1/+7Dugg for correctly spelling stationery!
- zeromous, on 11/09/2007, -0/+3Dugg up because digg-jerks are digging u down unfairly.
- IEatHamburgers, on 11/10/2007, -7/+2Eskimo font FTW
- fluidfoundation, on 11/10/2007, -3/+8Free fonts makes me happy in pants.
- MisterBozo, on 11/10/2007, -2/+111Who needs 40 fonts? Just use Comic Sans MS everywhere.

- texpundit, on 11/10/2007, -0/+6I don't F'ing think so! No god damned trojan .exe going on my work machine.
- gemadouble, on 11/10/2007, -3/+2It died j3one. Use yousendit or mediafire.
Help appreciated.
- spyrochaete, on 11/09/2007, -1/+9A word of warning - on Windows the more fonts you have in windowsfonts, the longer it takes to boot up. If you're hoarding zillions of fonts you don't use you will greatly improve your boot time by deleting a bunch.
- zeromous, on 11/09/2007, -1/+1I recommed a great freeware tool for managing fonts (with multiple repositories) and keep things loaded by windows to a minimum:
Thefontthing : http://www.download.com/The-Font-Thing/3000-2316_4 ... - KSUdesigner, on 11/10/2007, -0/+4This is why most professional designers use third party font management apps.
- texpundit, on 11/09/2007, -0/+1That's why using a font cataloging program is good, so you can install sets of fonts you need only when you need them and then uninstall them on the fly.
- Scheissen, on 11/09/2007, -0/+1This is why I (being a designer) use FontExpert.

- shockingbird, on 11/10/2007, -0/+9Came in here expecting the usual "FREE FONTS ARE A SUCK!" comments and was going to make one myself.
These are all pretty good actually. - onyxrev, on 11/09/2007, -0/+1Oh how I love the MG series.
- thailand1972, on 11/09/2007, -1/+0Is this thread a new low record for least diggs for comments?
- donte, on 11/09/2007, -1/+1Apparently you never saw the post about Jessica Alba saying she'd be up for one night stands.
http://digg.com/celebrity/Jessica_Alba_wants_one_n ...- Scheissen, on 11/09/2007, -0/+1Apparently you're ***** stupid because the third comment has 900 diggs.
- donte, on 11/09/2007, -1/+1Apparently you never saw the post about Jessica Alba saying she'd be up for one night stands.
- fujofly, on 11/09/2007, -1/+3I wish I wish I wish they could have included Copperplate Gothic Bold! It really is the greatest font in the world. http://www.ilovecopperplategothicbold.com
- shockingbird, on 11/09/2007, -0/+1Hahah... I read every post.
- greenamp, on 11/09/2007, -0/+2Some really good ones in there. Dugg.
- uptown, on 11/09/2007, -0/+1Well that took an hour, but I got 'em all ... 'cept for the 2 where you have to email to get them.
- 0z3r0z, on 11/10/2007, -0/+7can someone zip them up and put them somewhere for download?
- themoosejuice, on 11/09/2007, -0/+2lazy..........
- lazyfisherman, on 11/10/2007, -1/+5there's a .zip file for download a few posts up. except it's an .exe file. try it out, see if it works and let the rest of us know what happens.
- MacintoshSauce, on 11/09/2007, -0/+0Not bad for free fonts...

This is all of them that you didn't have to register or post to get.- thr33m, on 11/09/2007, -0/+1Thank you!
- MAG1CO, on 11/09/2007, -0/+1Scriptina is included as a typeface that could be used for 'professional design'.... shocking.
- ravamp3, on 11/12/2007, -0/+15http://www.simple-media.net/fonts/40_Excellent_Fon ...
oops did i do that? must have stumbled and accidently pressed all those keys...my bad - Schmapdi, on 11/09/2007, -0/+1www.fontfreak.com - another site I use for free fonts. Not all of them are that great - but they are free, and there's a lot of them.
- Morality, on 11/10/2007, -2/+9The world is crumbling around us. Desertification in China; Chad's insurrection-Darfur.
Today we discuss fonts. - shaffah, on 11/09/2007, -2/+0aaargh not again.
- solid12345, on 11/09/2007, -1/+1I want my helvetica DVD.
- colifis, on 11/09/2007, -0/+1FTA "A very calm, serious and impressive sans-serif free font from GarageFonts’ District family."
Sounds like something I would hear at a wine tasting ..... - djm101, on 11/10/2007, -2/+1http://betterfonts.com
Best free font site around.- kball75, on 11/10/2007, -1/+1those fonts are awful.
- MrViklund, on 11/12/2007, -9/+1Do people still collect fonts? Do you ever use them? Hardly. Fonts are nice to have and can look cool but you will hardly ever use them. I promise.
This is so 1998 :)- gasin, on 11/12/2007, -0/+4You are a idiot! "Font collection" is NOT a hobby. Its a resource for designers. And yeah, different projects required different fonts so YEAH, people still keep fonts that they can use.
Just b/c you don't use fonts, doesn't negate the fact that there is a whole printing and web and graphic industry based on it.
Go back to 1999! - Bamborzled, on 11/10/2007, -0/+4It's not like web designers, print designers, graphic designers, broadcasters, advertisers, or publishers will EVER need to have a (semi-)unique font that isn't Times New Roman. Nope. Never.
- gasin, on 11/12/2007, -0/+4You are a idiot! "Font collection" is NOT a hobby. Its a resource for designers. And yeah, different projects required different fonts so YEAH, people still keep fonts that they can use.
- chrismgtis, on 11/10/2007, -2/+1If font's reduce your startup time, you're not only installing fonts that are "so 1998", you're using a computer that was built in 1998. Please don't give out technical advice when you don't really have technical expertise.
Also, since when is "free fonts" one word? - orwellianstyles, on 11/09/2007, -0/+2Hardly ever use them? How can you say that? With every new logo, site, identity, brochure, ad, etc., you need to revisit fonts. This site is excellent and this post is --- yum!!!
- woofers07, on 11/10/2007, -0/+7Most people don't realize the difference between an IT (Devry, community college, etc.) graphic designer and a TRUE graphic designer is treatment of type.
- Orb9, on 11/12/2007, -2/+6http://www.dafont.com
- kball75, on 11/10/2007, -1/+0Thank you. High quality free fonts are hard to find.
- triplegmax, on 11/10/2007, -1/+1wow they repost half their free fonts from previous posts...so lame. not to mention there is a reason good fonts are expensive. everyone jocks the smashing magazine like mr T in the 80s...
- kendetroit, on 11/12/2007, -1/+1I removed Mashable from my RSS reader due to these crappy 40+ lists. Smashing, you next.
- kodekontrol, on 11/11/2007, -0/+0You gotta luv Smashing Magazine!
Really like Jos Buivenga’s Diavlo. Checked out his site for more fonts and they are all pretty decent.
