- ch30046, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That would go good with my coffee table
- Ninjab3ar, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Apple I, anyone? http://www.vintage.org/special/2003/apple-1/apple-1-front.jpg
- blapierre, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2I'm sure it will be nice when it burns down the house after it catches on fire from the heat.
- JernejL, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3wood? so much for environment friendly, rather pick aluminium!
- synystar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"made from one solid piece of wood" that would have been impressive. still... kinda neat.
- brstilson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11"I'm sure it will be nice when it burns down the house after it catches on fire from the heat."
Yeah, we all know how much heat a keyboard, mouse and LCD monitor can put out. I burn my hands daily, it's ridiculous. - Nobi-Wan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Just don't put a Sony power supply in it.
- SamKellett, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's a shame that Wii looks godawful.
- Ademan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah i dunno, those things look like ass, and there was a woodden case mod on here a while ago. It looked like crap too, well it might have looked good in a house that complimented it (with similar wood or something, i dunno what compliments other stuff i'm not an interior decorator) but i'm sure it COULD look good, but it really didnt to me.
On the other hand, having just bought an entire kitchen's worth of appliances, i can safely say that stainless steel appliances are in style, and i think stainless steel consoles would be pretty cool, and maybe stainless steel with a twist for computers (since i assume it's already been done)

- foxhoundadmin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3lol. it's okay--you get an "a" for effort, though! :P
- Ninjab3ar, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Did that 4G ipod have a WHITE click wheel?
- capiCrimm, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2I was under some impression there were some practical reasons we moved away from wood... like say fire.
- PonyGumbo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Wood ignites at about 500 degrees fahrenheit. If you're running that hot, I think you need a few more case fans.
- ElkorAlish, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1more like insulation, wood does not radiate heat to the surrounding environment all that well (which is why that wooden heatsink isn't such a good idea), with proper ventilation though you'd be fine.
- AgentPeay, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3I don't mean to put this fellow down - I really think the wood is a neat look, but I'm conflicted about the whole "think green" meets "make everything out of wood" approach... aren't there synthetic materials that could have less environmental impact than the high-quality lumber it takes to create these computers?
- blapierre, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Trees are a renewable resource. When you use wood you are ordering more trees to be planted.
- bitswapper, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1If they made it from biodegradable corn-derived plastics, it would be much "greener". Its really hard to say if using wood as a material is "greener" than plastic.
- ElkorAlish, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I'm no environmentalist, but even I can tell you that when you are done with this and throw it out it won't be in a landfill forever, long chain polycarbons (even corn-derived ones lol) aren't going to break down anytime soon.
- khyberkitsune, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0If this were bamboo or maybe birds-eye maple I'd be impressed. (Birds eye maple is beautiful on a guitar)

(Press Ctrl+A) - synystar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Nice catch Sam. I'd just like to know what kind of person wonders what gift they should give for their fifth wedding anniversary and thinks "Oh! I'll just google "fifth wedding anniversary".
- synystar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3hmmm. well not having been married I didn't realize that in fact wood is associated the fifth wedding anniversary. crazy married people. I didn't know there were rules for these things. I suppose it would be perfectly normal for someone to google that.

- HoosbinPharteen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3anyone else notice when they make wood computers it's typically a small 15" LCD that goes with it. Who uses a 15" screen anymore?
- sencha, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Certainly adds a new meaning to I have a "worm in my PC". Sorry just had to do it soooo obvious.
- brstilson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2http://woodcontour.com/stone.php
Their "stone" product package is $5,000.
"These durable products are made from scratch-, stain-, and heat-resistant CorianĀ® material, and make a sound financial investment to be used for years with the family or business computer. Warm and inviting, these CorianĀ® devices allow you to express simple minimalism, lush and dramatic sophistication or cozy warmth with a palette collection of over 120 colors."
Corian is the laminate you find on cheap countertops. I realize this is all handmade, but it wouldn't be worth $5,000 even if it was real stone.- TedTschopp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I don't know about Corian these days, but back in the day when we put some into our kitchen it was the most expensive thing you could get for the kitchen, and it wasn't a laminate. Perhaps nowdays they have other ways of installing it, but I know of several kitchens that have 1 inch solid Corian counter tops and sinks.
- ElkorAlish, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Corian is neither a laminate or cheap (you are thinking of Formica, which isn't really "cheap" either, just cheaper than other countertop options), Corian is a solid surface material and is one of the more pricey choices as far as man-made materials go. 5K is still a lot, considering they probably have a milling program that whips these things out in a few hours, but hey if you can do it cheaper give me a shout... I'd probably buy one.

People, please save our precious time reading the blog to get to the direct link. - apseudonym, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0so that keyboard is one of those dell things with the "ergonomic" letter spacing. If dells are wood, then wood is bad. that is all.
- Dustgunner, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2But is the SCREEN wood???
- nuts&bolts, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That pc is way to much for my blood. I know these guys who make wooden cases for like 350 and they look good. Maybe I should tell them to raise their prices.
- thejavabuddha, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Who is this guy and where can I buy one?
- surfing, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1JernejL "wood? so much for environment friendly, rather pick aluminium!"
Or bamboo - dayo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1looks nice. I'm more worried about the risk of fire especially a Wooden Dell laptop with Sony Battery lol!!!
- dewfish, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0when it comes to electronics, wood works best as a trim. you never cover the whole thing in wood. Did we learn nothing from the atari 2600?
- entz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0termites...
- mbrane, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I wonder if it runs pine?
- Kylde, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1hahhaha, the irony, using wood in an unnecessary environment "All of the lumber comes from forests that are responsibly managed. "
