    good riddance. there are a lot of possibilities still out there, even though this turns out to be a total money-suck. the promising energy research the DOE can back spans electricity generation (solar PV, wind, etc), energy storage (electric car batteries, hydrogen fuel), and carbon sequestration. no need for this to be a downer

Thank god the US is going to get rid of the policy that we don't need to actually advance technologically, just hide the by-products of our antiquated methods of producing usable energy
