Earth to be swallowed in a Black Hole?

- PalmerJoss, on 09/08/2008, -2/+8What was the name of that movie where the earth stopped spinning on its core? Someone had better call Hillary Swank to save us
- grenableu, on 09/08/2008, -3/+11What sort of bloomin idiot really believes this will destroy the world?
- bleh19799791, on 09/08/2008, -5/+4If said black hole takes the Bush administration with it, I'm all for it.
- Temlakos, on 09/08/2008, -2/+9Just bandwidth, that's all. They're looking for elementary particles of "dark matter." They're not going to find any, because "dark matter" is a mathematical fudge for people who don't want to give up on their pet thories when the numbers don't add up. But for the same reason, there's nothing to be afraid of.
- ApokalypseNow, on 09/08/2008, -2/+3You're forgetting that we do have observational evidence for dark matter, as well as mathematical evidence.
Further, the LHC will be looking for much more, such as the Higgs Boson.- Sharky35, on 09/08/2008, -3/+3No we really don't have observational evidence. No more than my smelling a stench proves that YOU farted. Mathematical evidence...= There is more mathematical evidence that we are living in a simulation.
- ApokalypseNow, on 09/08/2008, -2/+3"No we really don't have observational evidence."
Oh really?

You can't have observational evidence for the invisible. From your Wiki Article:
"Zwicky inferred that there must be some non-visible form of matter which would provide enough of the mass and gravity to hold the cluster together."
See what it says, it says "Zwicky INFERRED", not concluded. His calculations from our current understanding of gravity imply that there is missing mass. However (and this is big), we still have no firm grasp of what MASS is. We define it loosely as a "measure of how much stuff there is." Which is useless as a first principle. It is a poorly defined concept in physics, just as energy is poorly defined. There's a very famous quote in physics. Someone asks a physicist, "What is energy?" and the physicist replies, "Energy is that which is conserved."
The reply is perfect in that that is the only thing we really know for sure about what energy/matter "IS".

- Surferess, on 09/08/2008, -2/+5FTA "Scientists say there’s nothing to worry about"
There must be something to worry about or we wouldn't be talking about it so much.- ssn697, on 09/08/2008, -0/+4Yes indeed. Be worried that there are still so many clueless, paranoid, Luddite loving people buying into this end of the world crap.
You wonder why people vote the way they do? Look at how many people buy into this crap...
- ssn697, on 09/08/2008, -0/+4Yes indeed. Be worried that there are still so many clueless, paranoid, Luddite loving people buying into this end of the world crap.
- kenrayd, on 09/08/2008, -7/+1No earth is to be burned up and then recreated. (Revelation 21,22; 2 Peter 3)
- ApokalypseNow, on 09/08/2008, -1/+8Unevidenced assertion - your mythology has no bearing on reality.
- aaronbrannt, on 09/08/2008, -1/+1LHC YOU PIECE OF *****!!!
- kenrayd, on 09/08/2008, -7/+2If you wait until you witness it, it will be to late to get on the right side.
- cutchyacokov, on 09/08/2008, -1/+7Again kenrayd, where is your evidence?
- ApokalypseNow, on 09/08/2008, -1/+9You keep assuming there are sides when some of us recognize that there is no game being played.
- kenrayd, on 09/08/2008, -7/+2It's unfortunate to have paralyzed supernatural senses when millions around the world are enjoying theirs.
Everyone got them when they came on the the stage of this earth.
John 1:9 "That [Jesus] was the true Light, which lightens every person that comes into the world."
Romans 12:3 "...God hath dealt to every person the measure of faith."
Lastly, supernatural senses can be restored through Christian new birth.- ApokalypseNow, on 09/08/2008, -1/+6"It's unfortunate to have paralyzed supernatural senses when millions around the world are enjoying theirs."
Popular opinion has no bearing on facts - the fact is that there is no evidence for the supernatural. Quotations from you mythological text also have no bearing on facts. - Lith25, on 09/08/2008, -0/+3People like you are what makes me sad for the future of human-kind
- TheCatsPants, on 09/09/2008, -0/+2"supernatural senses"
Is that the same as using your imagination then pretending to yourself that it's real?
"Lastly, supernatural senses can be restored through Christian new birth."
I think the powers bestowed by Scientology are way cooler. Unfortunately just as fake though.
- ApokalypseNow, on 09/08/2008, -1/+6"It's unfortunate to have paralyzed supernatural senses when millions around the world are enjoying theirs."
- Hrodrik, on 09/08/2008, -1/+1Enough of sensational titles, already.
- kenrayd, on 09/08/2008, -5/+2...how unfortunate to have paralyzed supernatural senses.
- cutchyacokov, on 09/08/2008, -1/+4What are supernatural senses? Are you claiming to be a superhero now?
- ApokalypseNow, on 09/08/2008, -0/+5He already claims to be personally inerrant, despite the many times I've shown him to be wrong on a number of isseus- a new claim of this sort wouldn't surprise me.
- ApokalypseNow, on 09/08/2008, -0/+5Your willingness to believe in fairy tales and superstitions for which there exists no empirical, objective evidence in no way constitutes additional sensory capacity.
- cutchyacokov, on 09/08/2008, -1/+4What are supernatural senses? Are you claiming to be a superhero now?
- ssn697, on 09/08/2008, -0/+1Can we get an agreement from all the "LHC is the end of the world" people to LEAVE DIGG FOREVER, when this complete non-event proves to be a complete non-event?
- Stevanoski, on 09/08/2008, -0/+1I thought Hillary lost?
- blackrage, on 09/09/2008, -0/+2Listen...if the earth is gonna be destroyed, I would much rather have it done by a badass science project that some religious nut who decides thermo nuclear war is really the armagedon called for in the bible.
SCIENCE, YOUR BALL, PLAY ON!!!- tykwondingo, on 09/09/2008, -0/+1Well said. Free science is fun science.
- lukis100, on 09/09/2008, -0/+1... again? NO, FOR THE LAST F#$&ING TIME! IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN! ELSE, SHOW ME THE PHD THAT SAYS IT WILL!
- nowusa, on 09/09/2008, -1/+0...how unfortunate to have paralyzed supernatural senses.
- aflaks, on 09/09/2008, -1/+1my god, anther "LHC" world coming to an end post. Enough already! Nothing will happen, some scientists will turn on their big machine and accelerate particles like they have been doing for about 10 years now.
- m2garand, on 09/09/2008, -0/+1God I hope so, mankind has it coming.
