Tastes like chicken.- sniper6121, on 10/12/2007, -2/+115Hungry Hungry Hippo
- barryiggins, on 10/12/2007, -1/+71Hungry hungry hippo indeed.
What's black and white and red all over?
A zebra being eaten by a hippo. - david76, on 10/12/2007, -0/+27Hippos are one of the most dangerous animals and cause the most human deaths in Africa.
- coldstatue, on 10/12/2007, -14/+1@stupidppl
OMG! You have enlightened me! The whole world is spinning! I can't remember my name! - technothrasher, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8@david76
I believe that honor would go to the mosquito. Still, Hippos are nasty critters. - taotehue, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5from wiki
"Hippos have been known to be very defensive towards humans, and according to the paper by Dr Ed Evans, hold the title of African mammal which kills the most humans"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hippopotamus
mosquitos are bugs, it would be interesting to see the numbers of which one kills more. - dengzhi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6youtube?
- cleverboy, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1OMG. A hippo ate me mum! It's all coming back to me now. Bloody hippos!
- zappo1776, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8It's not eating the Zebra, Hippos don't eat meat. Hippos will attack anything that they think threatens them including Elephants.
- agentofchange, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Well, i can finally check that of the "things to see before i die list".
- technothrasher, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1@taotehue
Yeah, mosquitoes are bugs. What's your point? The above poster said "animals" not "mammals". Anyway, seeing how Malaria kills more than 1 million people a year in Africa, hippos don't have a chance against the mosquitoes for being the most deadly animal. - diggit128, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0HIV/AIDs, the subsequent weaken immune system, the inevitable onset of disease and illness and finally the stoppage of breathing with in turn deprives the brain of blood... is *the* leading cause of death in Africa
- Software2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Mosquitoes don't kill anybody. The parasites they carry do. ;)
So, if you people want to get technical instead of just accepting the fact that hippos are dangerous, the hippo still wins.
Oh wait... Humans kill each other more than any other animal! Ha! Take that hippos and mosquitoes!
- grammarpolice, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13Dammit, here I am thinking you are going to provide us with a video.
- sicc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Check the description, the video is gonna air on BBC1. I don't even know if I get BBC1, I ***** hope so, cause it's gonna be a killer video.

- CiXeL, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9i REALLY REALLY hate the fact that the damn brits get all the good video
they must think americans are morons or something
I had to download BBC Planet Earth in its entirety and now ill have to pirate this some way
same with walking with dinosaurs. you guys get a more detailed and better version narrarated by Attenborough and we get a chopped up one narrarated by that stupid deep space nine captain guy
screw you guys across the atlantic. =( - Wonderkind, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2PETA can eat my meat.
- homerj14, on 10/12/2007, -4/+23PETA will probably DDos attack digg because of this
- dienaked, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2What would have been PETA's solution here though? Shoot the hippo to save the zebra, or try to entice it with lettuce and carrots from the shore?
- rogerjones, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5PETA would send a human to be eaten instead
- Wootery, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5@roger
"PETA would send a human to be eaten instead"
I see you don't know a thing about PETA... http://www.petakillsanimals.com/petaKillsAnimals.cfm

Overlooking all the horses
and the Zebras came.
Eat my ***** Dr. Seuss. - dpcdomino, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3Yes but I'll be damned if I see an elephant fly.
- youngerpants, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I've seen a horse fly
- CiXeL, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3horse flies are SCARY
especially 2 inch wide everglades ones
- maikelnai, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9I'm sure the hippo killed the zebra, but eat it? Come on, everybody know they are grass-eating animals...
- scoobyroo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6I saw this exact same thing on the Jungle Cruise at Disneyland.
You know the hippos are going to attack when they wiggle their ears.- harriman714, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3i guess the question here is:
"Did she swallow?"

Vegetarian? Must've got bored.- TheAkolyte, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Maybe the zebra ate a leaf or something.
- taotehue, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2hippos are very very territorial. that is also why they attack humans (and each other when the dry season is in).
- JesusIsSatan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah, they aren't even omnivores like us. They are strictly vegetarians and peaceniks. Strange if he actually ate meat from the zebra.
- mrnoodles, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Actually Hippos are quite dangerous and pretty aggressive.
Hippos are killing more people than crocodiles do.- HP844182, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6"Adult hippos are extremely hostile toward crocodiles, which often live in the same pools and rivers as hippopotami. This is especially so when hippo calves are around. Hippos also seem to empathize with the prey of crocodiles and have been known to stand guard over dead and dying antelope on river banks. Hippos have been known to be very defensive towards humans, and according to the paper by Dr Ed Evans, hold the title of African mammal which kills the most humans."
From wiki - TheAkolyte, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Probably becuase people think hippos are a joke. NOBODY ***** with a crocodile, but I bet there's someone who thinks it's o.k. to put their head inside of a hippo's mouth.
- diggmaddy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7And population of African elephants has tripled in the past 10 years.
- HP844182, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6"Adult hippos are extremely hostile toward crocodiles, which often live in the same pools and rivers as hippopotami. - elbxmatatan, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Thats a bad Hippo!!!!!
- LinuxGalore, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I call shenanigans especially considering the source (Sun).
About 3 years ago there was a video of a hippo pulling a Zebra out of the water after it had drowned then it seemed to be trying to revive it (I think this is the video they will actually be showing).
The hippo at no time attempted to eat the Zebra.- johnsea66, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I saw that, and it was fake, it was clearly edited.
- faz9, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Would of been good to see this. How ever, by the time it had hit the front page it had all ready aired on bbc 1
- halfgook, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0the best part:

- mga911, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Have you ever seen a man eat a zebra??? http://youtube.com/watch?v=tRKpnkX99z0
Now you have. - Holosoth, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Yes. But will it blend?
- 12340987, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1it doesn't say it was eating it, said attacking. Might have been defensive or trying to dislodge something from its teeth with a zebra leg.
- overbored454, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Maybe the hippo ate your baby."
- FoxifiedNutjob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Site has pop-unders, no video and hi-jacks the browsers back button?
