app.com — Caught on video, waterspouts have been spotted off the Jersey shore. They're kind of like tornadoes of water. Video is at top right (vid URL too long to digg it directly).

- Slackersrule, on 08/12/2008, -0/+10Hurry, we have to burn all of the plants before they retaliate.
- actionscripted, on 08/12/2008, -0/+3Mind if I smoke a few of 'em?
- TheJimid, on 08/12/2008, -2/+19Indeed it understands how long its been since Jersey had a bath.
- astronomical, on 08/12/2008, -0/+0The planet may be getting upset, but a waterspout doesnt mean that any more than a tornado or rainfall does.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waterspout - cnot3, on 08/12/2008, -0/+2We didn't listen!
- IglooBurner, on 08/13/2008, -1/+0"That's great, it starts with an earthquake, birds and snakes, an aeroplane and Lenny Bruce is not afraid.
Eye of a hurricane, listen to yourself churn - world serves its own needs, dummy serve your own needs...."
- Slackersrule, on 08/12/2008, -0/+10Hurry, we have to burn all of the plants before they retaliate.
- Crackerpat, on 08/12/2008, -3/+17These things are awesome if you see them in real life. I was fortunate enough to see several during a tornado I was filming as it cam across the river at my house.
- JerichoSam, on 08/12/2008, -4/+8Yikes! Cool photos, though.
- BCCStu, on 08/12/2008, -11/+8Haha...is it bad if the first thing that popped into my head was "Good."?
- jayobear, on 08/12/2008, -1/+2I actually thought they were vegetables that grew in water.
- tmacfan123, on 08/12/2008, -3/+6those boats better get the ***** out of there...
- parkskier426, on 08/12/2008, -3/+17What interesting commentary that video has.
/sarcasm- borez, on 08/12/2008, -0/+5LOOK AT THE SI...
- centran, on 08/12/2008, -2/+7Wonder if it could pick up a kayaker?
- tange1, on 08/12/2008, -0/+1Nope - I've kayaked during water spouts when I was in the Florida keys. Who knows exactly how far way I was from the spouts I think I was closer than the boats in the video. I'm still here..
- cliffzdude, on 08/13/2008, -0/+1Yes, a water spout is simply a tornado over water. If one passed over a kayaker, said kayaker would likely be sucked up like a worm in a bottle of tequila.
- sailadayaway, on 08/13/2008, -0/+1unlike a tornado however, a water spout is made of water, the water would push the kayaker out of the way before sucking him up..
- the2989, on 08/13/2008, -0/+1A kayaker would probably just get tipped over and wiped out by the waves around it. Waterspouts don't usually get that strong.
- HumanGlitch, on 08/12/2008, -5/+3Avalon 66th and Dune. Come visit.
- SPRFRKR, on 08/13/2008, -0/+2100mi north of Avalon
- Vincent21212, on 08/12/2008, -2/+19We can only hope next time it'll take a pontoon full of guidos with it...
- computerguydk, on 08/13/2008, -0/+1Not now chief, I'm in the *****' zone.
- kenvsryu, on 08/12/2008, -3/+6So we don't use the word guido anymore?
- KaiSe7eN, on 08/12/2008, -12/+8PLEASE MIGHTY God of Wind and Powerful Breezes. Send actual LAND tornadoes onto Jersey, about 1000 and smite thy land from thy nation!!!!!
- iankino, on 08/13/2008, -0/+2Um...no thanks. Kind of live there for the time being.
- ErickStevenson, on 08/12/2008, -2/+13No Guidos got sucked up? How dissapointing...
- stonedgeek, on 08/13/2008, -0/+2hope they didn't mess up their hair
- jimmytwotoes, on 08/13/2008, -0/+0No, however several thousand were reported injured in there idiotic attempt to gain the "bitchin'est blowout in J-city you f**kin' punk ass bitches.....YO?"
- jcaino, on 08/12/2008, -3/+7As if you should already be swimming in Jersey...
- Patrickdnj, on 08/13/2008, -0/+1SOME beaches aren't that bad actually.
For example, Asbury Park it quite calm and peaceful because police constantly patrol the area, while people say it is unsafe.....So no douchebags go there............
Sandy Hook is also quite clean and peaceful because it is a National Park........
- Patrickdnj, on 08/13/2008, -0/+1SOME beaches aren't that bad actually.
- shutaro, on 08/12/2008, -3/+4GENTLEMEN! TURN IT ON!

- davidwasman, on 08/12/2008, -2/+2Look, I know it was a fanciful and ridiculously low-brow movie, but come on. I get dugg down for that?
What--do I need to make some off-color reference to someone's death or link to some stupid 4chan pic for you guys now? Sheesh.
- davidwasman, on 08/12/2008, -2/+2Look, I know it was a fanciful and ridiculously low-brow movie, but come on. I get dugg down for that?
- thavi, on 08/12/2008, -2/+2this has a distinctly viral taste to it,
but anyway, i've always had this terror of being out swimming and getting sucked up into the sky by one of those... jesus christ that would suck. would be worse than a twister to me for some reason.. - macweirdo42, on 08/12/2008, -2/+3I misread that title at first - you don't want to know what I was imagining had been spotted off the Jersey shore.
- consciousNOT, on 08/12/2008, -11/+3I always knew Jersey sucked.
- Rainemaker, on 08/12/2008, -6/+4FTA:
"Apparently the culmination of 14,000 blow dryers running at the same time down the shore created multiple vortices some reaching F1 status on the Fujita scale. The funnels caused thousands of dollars in damage and reeked of Vidal Sassoon." - StickWST, on 08/12/2008, -8/+2GENTALMAN! BEHOLD!
- Somedude2137, on 08/12/2008, -7/+1OH NOES!!!!!!! TORNADOES IN THE NORTHEAST!!!!! THE DAY AFTER TOMMORROW IS HERE!!!
- HolyMan28, on 08/12/2008, -1/+4This isn't a video.
- Justice101, on 08/12/2008, -0/+1There is one on the right sidebar. Read the description in parenthesis.
- HolyMan28, on 08/13/2008, -0/+1It still isn't a video.
- mgrest, on 08/12/2008, -6/+1For those in the UK that got unnecessarily excited by the inaccurate title, this is NEW Jersey USA, not the original Jersey UK.
- macapplejobs, on 08/12/2008, -2/+1Check out my new haircut......
- PGPirate, on 08/12/2008, -8/+2Its a waterspout. No big deal. Buried for the annoying Jersey accent
- TheLedFloyd, on 08/12/2008, -1/+2Jo: [cow flies by in the storm] Cow.
[cow flies by in the storm]
Jo: 'Nother cow.
Bill: Actually I think that was the same one. - GeorgeTirebiter, on 08/13/2008, -4/+0Al told us this would happen.
- cbags, on 08/13/2008, -1/+1There have been many reported sightings of waterspouts on Lake Michgan...seen the beginnings of them myself 2-3 times. Quite creepy especially if you really can't get away from it.
- lazn, on 08/13/2008, -3/+1really big whales!
- Rivfader, on 08/13/2008, -3/+2Ok people nothing to see here.
- pstroll, on 08/13/2008, -0/+3I bet the BENNYs were running around and cursing up a storm
- douglasr007, on 08/13/2008, -0/+1I read the title as watersports. Hmmm.
- eltardo, on 08/13/2008, -0/+1They were on the way to Jersey for an Umpa Lumpa tan
- RedWolves, on 08/13/2008, -0/+2OK watching a twister. This is a video of a twister on digg. Watching a twister on digg and it's moving north in diggs.
- gl77, on 08/13/2008, -0/+1i saw one of these one time come right off of Lake Erie and travel within maybe 50 yards of me before totally just dissipating after being on land for a little while. def. one of the coolest things i have ever seen.
- kd1s, on 08/13/2008, -0/+1Yeah there's definitely some weird weather out there. Put it this way, I've lived in RI for all my life and the only tornado touchdown I ever remember was in the late 80's.
The past few weeks we've had three confirmed touchdowns, and several water spouts in Narragansett Bay.
This is scary stuff. - Techx4, on 08/13/2008, -1/+0Waaaaaaaterspouts ahhhhhhhhhh run for your lives!!!!!!!!!
wake me up when theres some real news - charliebucketts, on 08/13/2008, -1/+1The Shore is coming for the Guidos!

- Opiates, on 08/13/2008, -0/+0Having that thing coming at me would scare the crap out of me.
- Metasquares, on 08/13/2008, -0/+1Eh, it's not common, but it does happen. It isn't indicative of the end of the world or the return of Quetzalcoatl or anything like that.
- abdo, on 08/13/2008, -0/+1Haha, Aqua teens
- YoungChristoph, on 08/13/2008, -0/+0I heard an incy wincy spider climbed up one of those.
