5 Extreme Sky Dives From the Last 50 Years
popularmechanics.com — Adventure columnist Jeff Wise faced down the science of fear when he agreed to jump out of a Cessna 207, but these dives make his look easy. According to the U.S. Parachute Association, Americans make over 2M jumps each year, but some daring divers choose to push their free-falls to the extreme. Here are are our favorite record-breaking skydives.

- JackGrinnan, on 07/18/2008, -3/+2Most skydives in an hour, 640. Wow, 26-27 an hour. That's ridiculous.

Just try and imagine being there.- tramblings, on 07/19/2008, -1/+2It's 640 jumps in 24 hours, not one hour. ;) But still impressive.
- Twan2649, on 07/19/2008, -2/+2And in other news...
- DeadSkinMask, on 07/19/2008, -1/+6No D.B Cooper?

- Vandango, on 07/19/2008, -0/+7Travis Pastrana and his no chute dive is about as extreme as it gets.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=AmVOHT3H6ZQ no rig.- jamdogg, on 07/19/2008, -1/+2That pilot would be grounded for life by the CAA if they were British and in the UK.
- WesleyD, on 07/19/2008, -0/+2Actually there was someone before him that did it. I can't remember his name but you can find him on the dropzone.com forums, his name is "chuteless" or something like that.
- antonio97b, on 07/19/2008, -0/+4Greg gasson did the same thing first.
- donkz, on 07/19/2008, -1/+5I have just recently sky dove and I have to say it is an unbelievable feeling. I suggest trying it once... it's well worth your paper money.
- Quake120, on 07/19/2008, -0/+2Check out Joe Jennings. He is a famous aerial cinematographer that does some crazy stunts sometimes, too. Check out this video:

Skydiving is amazing. I would recommend everybody try it at least once! It is worth the money you spend because you will remember your experience for the rest of your life. - Requeim, on 07/19/2008, -6/+1i did love to do sky diving ...
http://www.healthpoints.info - CouchTomato, on 07/19/2008, -4/+1I've done something interesting as well. I once jumped without a chute and intercepted one tossed out from another airplane..it was a cinch overall. I could do this again with eyes closed, not a problem.
- jamdogg, on 07/19/2008, -0/+4I once jumped out of a plane and had someone toss me my chute from one of the windows of a tall building as I fell past. Oh yeah I was blindfolded at the time and next time I'm going to pop a few valium beforehand and escape from a straight jacket on the way down...
- WesleyD, on 07/19/2008, -0/+4Dugg because I skydive.
The largest formation I was ever part of in freefall was a 12-way, and even that is quite alot.
It's pretty cool, but also challenging because you only have roughly 60 seconds(assuming you're flying belly-to-earth) to form up and turn points.- raisputin3, on 07/19/2008, -0/+24 more th an my largest jump LOL :) I can't wait to get back in the air
