- EMccutcheon, on 07/09/2008, -2/+0WHO CARES? How uncaring can a person be. I am also allergic to shellfish & I went into shock at a Red Lobster because I ate fish (which I am not allergic to) but was deep fried in the same oil as other shell fish. I had previously talked with them at Red Lobster if this would be a problem but was assured because of the high temperature of the oil it would not be a problem. They were wrong. I came out of shock mainly because my stomach started rejecting the flounder & I started upchucking. Some people get hives & some people's throat closes up & they can't breathe. I was rushed to hospital where they hooked me up to an IV but it took 4 hours to bring my blood pressure up to normal.
- appleofdischord, on 07/09/2008, -0/+0My point was that this isn't news. Either someone who worked there made a mistake, or the guy who died didn't read the menu carefully enough. Either way someone made a mistake. Why should anyone not directly affected by the incident even care?
- fluidfoundation, on 07/09/2008, -1/+1We'll post the same thing when you kick it.
- appleofdischord, on 07/09/2008, -0/+0Please do.

- roastedbagel, on 07/08/2008, -1/+6So did the family get comped? I mean at least free dessert or something...
- fluidfoundation, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1welll. 20% off their next desert... under $4.99.
- malexan, on 07/08/2008, -1/+6I'm thinking that if a particular food could kill me and that food was served at a restaurant, I wouldn't be eating at that restaurant. The chances of contamination (accidental or otherwise) are just too high. I'd probably also keep an EpiPen handy. But maybe I'm oversimplifying things...
- EMccutcheon, on 07/09/2008, -1/+0I am allergic to shellfish myself. It took quite a few years to realize it. My reactions were all different. 1st time, ate crab cake, upchucked & lost eye sight for awhile. 2nd & 3rd time, ate crab cake, upchucked & finally realized I was allergic. 4th time, I ate flounder (I can eat fish) deep fried in the same oil as shellfish (checked w/restaurant first & said no problem) & I went into shock. People with allergies like to eat out just like other people. I now realize times I've gotten sick was probably because I ate french fries fried in the same oil. I now talk w/every restaurant I eat at to make sure they don't deep fry everything together because most places do. Only found Outback Steakhouse deep fries everything seperately. Restaurants need to address how they cook their food. I ask that my food not be cooked side-by-side with seafood.
- silkysilt, on 07/08/2008, -1/+1Once I bit into a piece of Chicken at Applebees that was raw....the only thing they did was 1/2 off the meal. We have never been back to Applebees since.
- mikec00l, on 07/09/2008, -0/+3You can't get crabs from eating at Ruby Tuesday. You get them from sleeping with hookers.

- morningmatters, on 07/09/2008, -0/+2According to the article the family won't be filing for lawsuits against the restaurant although there is speculation of food mix-up. I've heard stories about people allergic to peanuts and die at Chinese/Thai restaurants before. This sort of death is always unfortunate.
- Suneet67, on 07/09/2008, -1/+1This unfortunate death will spell millions in a wrongful death suit.
- JAVandiver, on 07/09/2008, -1/+1Read the article ass clown... FTA: "She [the server] is very clear that he repeated more than one time that Chicken Oscar was his choice," said Johnson, whose company has more than 25 metro Atlanta locations. "We don't believe there was any confusion on her part. Had he been confused . . . when the dish was brought to the table it would be been clearly visible to him that it had crab meat on it."
