- Lucas123, on 10/01/2008, -11/+39That's called football, baby! That kind of drama doesn't happen in soccer. Now do you understand why Americans LOVE football.
- Peko, on 10/01/2008, -5/+18I'm not digging you down cuz I love the NFL. And in the NFL there are serious business hits. But you know you gotta also mention rugby and aussie rules football.
They might "hit" softer in those games but they aren't wearing full body armor.
And the video reminded me how a WR going across the middle has some serious balls.- noots, on 10/01/2008, -4/+6the famous argument that NFL is total faggotry because they wear pads - something rugby fans always say, annoys the hell out of me.
While it is in a sense true, it's because the hits are so high in the NFL there would literally be season ending injuries weekly otherwise (Boldins hit from the cardinals game this week).
i quite like both sports, but just as there is a retarded "jock" mentality within the NFL, the rugby scene suffers from the same (i think more intense) disease. - mike17032, on 10/01/2008, -0/+8Pads allow you to hit harder.
- Coventrian, on 10/01/2008, -13/+2As an ex rugby player I allways have and always will regard American football with total disdain.
They wear pads so they don't need to develop any technique in the tackle, its just fat blokes running into each other. They have to have a break every five minutes because they are all fat blokes with no stamina.
There is no league system and one prize, what on earth do they play for, its pointless. There are no leagues because its not a sport, its a business.
Given those facts its no wonder why Americans love it so much, its a reflection of the nation as a whole, fat blokes that cannot ba allowed to fail in any meaningfull way.
And if any stupid American sports had Internationals you would never be able to say that rugby players somehow hit less hard, when you're playing for your country you will hit the opposition as hard as is physically poosible, but you do it with technique, which takes time and patience to learn, two properties tha average American doesn't have. - AchaIemoipas, on 10/01/2008, -4/+11Let's see here:
Rugby: tiny little gay europeans prancing around.
NFL defensive linemen: 300lbs average, 6'5, bench 400lbs.
And there are a number of tackling techniques, luckily, none of them involve pissing yourself in American football. - granolajoe, on 10/01/2008, -1/+1...
- noots, on 10/01/2008, -0/+2Coverntrian - you clearly know nothing about the NFL, i assume you've watched one game - maybe two. You're just a typical rugby player - talking ***** and sounding retarded.
here's an article from NFL.com
http://www.nfl.com/news/story;jsessionid=BBAE031A9 ...
take the headline and main subject with a pinch of salt, but just read about some of the other athletes.
(i'm not american btw, i enjoy both sports and hate it when people take sides over pointless *****) - darcyp, on 10/01/2008, -1/+1AchaIemoipas has obviously never seen a game of rugby. I am a fan of both sports, and there are large and small players in both. Props are always 250+, and even the small guys are 200 lbs.
- Coventrian, on 10/01/2008, -2/+0Call me all the names you can think of old chap, it doesn't stop American football being any less *****.
You haven't addressed any of the points I have raised, just a typical American male approach of going on the defensive and being rude.
I have lived in America now for 5 years, I have seen plenty of the NFL both live and on TV, I stand by my observation that it is boring, what do you even need bloody cheerleaders for other than to give joe sixpack something to look at after his brain has been numbed by watching 5 minutes of American football.
To call it a sport is as silly as calling chess a sport, its one choreographed move after another, there is no flow in the game, no end of season panic as the threat of relegation appears, just a stop start stop start series of hopelessy over structured attempts to force a ball over a line, you don't even have to ground it.
As for AchaIemoipas's assumption that only Europeans play the game, its just another typical American showing his total lack of geographic knowledge and lack of appreciation for anything non american, I'm sure the Australians and South Africans and New Zealanders and Argentinians appreciate the sentiment.
I for one would love to see you tell a Maori rugby player he's gay to his face, any rugby player for that matter.
I don't even know why there is even an argument to defend, the world has made its choice, anyone for the American football world cup 2011?......no?......I thought not. - AchaIemoipas, on 10/02/2008, -0/+1I played both sports. And I'm not American you bigot.
- noots, on 10/01/2008, -4/+6the famous argument that NFL is total faggotry because they wear pads - something rugby fans always say, annoys the hell out of me.
- Mofoliage, on 10/01/2008, -10/+13http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9YRn31C7HYg&feature ...
Rugby wins- pathouston22, on 10/01/2008, -7/+8Wow, thats like comparing the WNBA to NBA. I turned it off after 1 minute, lame.
- Pureeviljester, on 10/01/2008, -0/+3@pathouston
some real ignorance your showing there
what do you call what happens at 1:30 in the rugby video?
roughing the kicker... bitchass
it's basically the same video except rugby has no padding - Coventrian, on 10/01/2008, -0/+0Great video, shame about the music.
Just shows how less hard rugby players hit each other........Silly Americans, they can't help it you know...
- subtle, on 10/01/2008, -12/+4No. Perhaps if they didn't wear all that protective gear and played for more than five minutes at a stretch it would be worth watching. That clip is like a trailer for a really bad movie: the real thing is far more boring.
- mjamesa, on 10/01/2008, -0/+2kind of like your mom.
- tech10171968, on 10/01/2008, -0/+2It probably seems boring if you don't pay attention. A lot of American football isn't just big padded oafs running into each other; there's a hell of a lot of strategy which goes into those "five minutes of play". Take a look at an old NFL playbook (or even a college playbook for that matter) - those things are HUGE, and they are an indication of how much thinking goes into the game.
- Coventrian, on 10/01/2008, -0/+0What sort of a sport requires a book of plans? Might be a lot of thinking going on, shame its not on the field.
Sport is supposed to ebb and flow.
The more I see of the NFL I realise its just a horrible social experiment in brainwashing a population to like something that would, in any other circumstance, bore a normal human being silly.
- noseeme, on 10/01/2008, -0/+9ME STRONG!!! ME HURT YOU!!!
- AchaIemoipas, on 10/01/2008, -2/+10No drama? What do you call all the crying and the faking of injuries?
- Lucas123, on 10/01/2008, -1/+5OK. You've got me there.
- Cerialthriller, on 10/01/2008, -1/+2put them on ice and moving twice the speed and make them play for more then 6 seconds at a time then we'll talk.
- granolajoe, on 10/01/2008, -2/+2Did a soccer player beat up on you when you were a kid? It seems as if you can't help but make some lame-ass comment on any thread about soccer, even when it has nothing to do with the sport.
- Chonoon, on 10/01/2008, -1/+2http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9kgG7gS3_M
Beat that. Dropped 'im. Helmets are for pussys.
- Peko, on 10/01/2008, -5/+18I'm not digging you down cuz I love the NFL. And in the NFL there are serious business hits. But you know you gotta also mention rugby and aussie rules football.
- BeShirtHappy, on 10/01/2008, -1/+17The hits that cause them to do air time before landing... OUCH!
- diggJENNA, on 10/01/2008, -0/+19great clips!
- kellfinder, on 10/01/2008, -0/+5Taking a pounding!
- curiousg1414, on 10/01/2008, -0/+11that's what she said
- noseeme, on 10/01/2008, -0/+1Obviously you haven't been in an NFL locker room shower.
- AdeleMor, on 10/01/2008, -2/+2OWW
- commenter01, on 10/01/2008, -0/+10i got internal bleeding just watching it
- noseeme, on 10/01/2008, -0/+2That was just your stitches becoming undone. Don't worry about it.
- codwif, on 10/01/2008, -1/+46cool video, but what a useless description.
- LucasG2, on 10/01/2008, -1/+13try a tasteless description. buried.
- Gregbertt, on 10/01/2008, -0/+13The best hit was the last one. Way to pick up the guy's hat...
- cledford, on 10/01/2008, -0/+1My neck hurts now...
- CrucialMatt, on 10/01/2008, -0/+24What does the description even mean?
- kaizr, on 10/01/2008, -4/+1bernie mac and paul newman are dead...so even dead guys are feeling the pain
- ryrysofly, on 10/01/2008, -2/+1It means you should buy a go-kart, then drive it into the underworld where you can put REAL flames on it. Then meet up Bernie Mac and Paul Newman and race them in your underworld-flame go-kart and ask them if losing hurt as bad as that video.
- kaizr, on 10/01/2008, -4/+1bernie mac and paul newman are dead...so even dead guys are feeling the pain
- AlexWiggy, on 10/01/2008, -1/+9For some strange reason makes me wish we played American Football here in the UK.
Guess, rugby will have to remain our closest sport.- AoiTakuma, on 10/01/2008, -1/+1There are some great hits in rugby as well. There is nothing like seeing someone get hit so hard in the gut that the ball flies a few meters ahead
- z4nd3r, on 10/02/2008, -0/+1....real men dont wear pads!!!
- jc7012, on 10/01/2008, -2/+40I like the part where the guy gets tackled.
- pintomp3, on 10/01/2008, -0/+6i like the part where the guy gets brain damage.
- olafcore, on 10/01/2008, -0/+3i guess i missed both those parts
- martinherrera, on 10/01/2008, -0/+3ill bet you do
- nathanbutnet, on 10/01/2008, -0/+6Those are what Ronnie Lott might call a 'WOOOOOOO' hit.
- FearisFailure, on 10/01/2008, -2/+2I love how those are all old clips. They don't hit like that anymore those were the glory days on the sport.
- below413, on 10/01/2008, -0/+2http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VdQUiZ6ioKw
That one's not very old and it's still a pretty solid hit - Mutiny32, on 10/01/2008, -0/+1Nonsense, I saw a hit at the Chiefs game last sunday that made the kick returner's helmet pop clear off. It made the entire stadium make a large "OOOOHHHHHHH" sound.
- below413, on 10/01/2008, -0/+2http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VdQUiZ6ioKw
- Wilzer, on 10/01/2008, -9/+7Burried... The same video all of us have been watching for years with different music
- Mr.Gone, on 10/01/2008, -2/+4Don't you talk about my momma!
- dtstuff9, on 10/01/2008, -0/+2Dugg for the childhood memories. Oddly enough in reality...the Giants did win it in a David vs Goliath matchup as well.
- hasahugedig, on 10/01/2008, -0/+0dug for waterboy
- WrldsWrstDigger, on 10/01/2008, -3/+5dugg for the Mark Duper helicopter!!!!
p.s. it's Firestarter from Prodigy so you don't have to ask.- Armindor, on 10/01/2008, -0/+2Breathe, by The Prodigy
- WrldsWrstDigger, on 10/01/2008, -0/+1thanks, you're right ;)
- commiecat, on 10/01/2008, -0/+2FYI -- it was Nat Moore (#89) and not Mark Duper (#85):
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nat_Moore
Still a badass play.
- Armindor, on 10/01/2008, -0/+2Breathe, by The Prodigy
- yuokool12, on 10/01/2008, -3/+4when the hell was this made 15 years ago?
- dipdog21, on 10/01/2008, -0/+2This is when they could really hit without worry of a defenseless player foul or a roughing the quarterback or spearing penalty .
- noseeme, on 10/01/2008, -0/+6I remember back when Digg didn't like sports. This is okay, I guess.
- elie195, on 10/01/2008, -0/+3i can't get enough of the reggie bush hit.
- steakneggs, on 10/01/2008, -0/+1This video will have more diggs than views
- ISellDrugs, on 10/01/2008, -1/+2wow crazy body slam at 0:12 and check out 0:58 the guy did a helicopter
- worldchanger, on 10/01/2008, -0/+2thank you for describing what we just watched. we barely remember it.
- TheFuturist, on 10/01/2008, -0/+8This happened last sunday. What a Hit.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ub1_k1VA1C0&eurl=ht ...- AoiTakuma, on 10/01/2008, -1/+3its kind of unfortunate the way it happened though. I think the hit would have been more entertaining and less devastating if the defender got him in the chest or gut and not the head.
- fokov, on 10/02/2008, -0/+1Exactly, Helmet to helmet isn't legal for the exact reason you see in this video. The main results are injury, concussions that will be triggered easily for life (career over), or death. There are many great hits, you don't have to aim for the head. NFL or NHL leave the head alone. Respect your fellow players' lives and their families.
- Kiwibomb, on 10/01/2008, -0/+9love how both the jets and the cardinal players got together to pray for boldin. The NFL needs the public to see more images of stuff like that and less of stuff like T.O. and bungles
- itsripitsrip, on 10/01/2008, -0/+2youtube video comments are priceless.
- AoiTakuma, on 10/01/2008, -1/+3its kind of unfortunate the way it happened though. I think the hit would have been more entertaining and less devastating if the defender got him in the chest or gut and not the head.
- lupka, on 10/01/2008, -3/+1I think this is an NFL Films segment from about 15 years ago. Where's the recent stuff??
- IHaveIssues, on 10/01/2008, -1/+4The facemasking is nasty.
Anyway he just reposted an existing video today just for Digg so ***** off. - bossm4n, on 10/01/2008, -0/+9That gets a digg just for including Earl Campbell planting his helmet into that guys chest and running him over. One of my favorite highlights ever.
- Featherlake, on 10/01/2008, -5/+2Yawn
- jmpeagle, on 10/01/2008, -3/+3best hits are on kickoff returns and punt returns because you can have two people running full speed toward each other making for some serious hits
- mmx2000, on 10/01/2008, -3/+3I'm not really sure what's going on in those videos - all I see are swirling blobs of pixelated nonsense. I think I saw a Go-Kart drive by in one clip?
- banditboydavid, on 10/01/2008, -1/+2Now that's FOOTBALL!!! Its all about the D BABY!!!
- arb0324, on 10/01/2008, -1/+5Slightly more recent. . .
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ze8S-UUsh3I- Sucka27, on 10/01/2008, -1/+3There's too much ***** in that vid. Just show the hits. And eminem makes it virtually unwatchable.
- msawicki, on 10/01/2008, -4/+0it's a shame. most of those hits would be penalties and fines in today's nfl.
- brokenworlds, on 10/01/2008, -0/+1Description was unnecessary
- fatcatt316, on 10/01/2008, -0/+2I would've dugg this 8 years ago when I first saw it. How in the world does this make it to the front page of Digg?
- ToeCracker, on 10/01/2008, -10/+4American don't know what football is. Get them to take their pussy pads and helmets off and play football like us aussies do!
- mike17032, on 10/01/2008, -1/+4Play like little girls you mean?
- SailRacer, on 10/01/2008, -7/+2Hockey Hits = Bigger, Faster, Harder.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3I3tPMa4cJg - commiecat, on 10/01/2008, -0/+1This is the film that entire segment comes from:
http://www.amazon.com/NFL-Rocks-Chris-Barlow/dp/63 ...
Pretty good NFL clip film but it's a bit dated now ('92). Some of the songs are cheesy but the footage is worth it. - QuickBrittle, on 10/01/2008, -1/+0Brandon Jacobs FTW!
- paulvq, on 10/01/2008, -0/+6http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6ZOK8okDRA
- fokov, on 10/02/2008, -0/+2That's a serious ***** hit there. Hands down, good job defender. Shoulder to torso hit. That's good football.
- oldhick, on 10/01/2008, -0/+1I miss the old days when clothesline tackles were legal and you could destroy a quarterback. Its unfortunate what they've done to the game these days...
- TheHammar, on 10/01/2008, -0/+5I'd digg it if it weren't a crappy rip and reup of a higher quality video listed in the related video section. Also, the other videos have better music.
- sek52, on 10/01/2008, -1/+5There are 288 Diggs of this submission, and the Youtube video has 205 views currently.
Also, dugg for Steve Tasker f-ing people's days up.
And Don Beebe getting dumped on his head.- plundstedt, on 10/01/2008, -0/+3Youtube doesn't update views in real time.
- sek52, on 10/01/2008, -0/+1Oh. I see.
- plundstedt, on 10/01/2008, -0/+3Youtube doesn't update views in real time.
- aguynamedben, on 10/01/2008, -2/+2CRABCAKES AND FOOTBALL. THAT'S WHAT MARYLAND DOES!
- RedSaber, on 10/01/2008, -7/+2Football is easy.
Rugby is a real men sport:

No equipment, just pure manhood and action.- bossm4n, on 10/01/2008, -0/+4Try getting hit by a dude 6'5" weighing 300+ wearing body armor, running at full speed and tell me how you feel. And you repeat the process over and over for the course of the entire game. You've obviously never donned pads before. You'd piss your pants just standing on an NFL sideline watching those guys thunder by you. The ground shakes and you can feel the breeze as they blow past you.
- Slick37c, on 10/01/2008, -1/+2Sounds like you were watching Jurassic Park.
- slothchunk, on 10/01/2008, -0/+4ok, ok, here's your test of manhood. go get a friend and a motorcycle helmet. Stand up straight and have your friend swing the helmet as hard as he can and hit you in the stomach or in the spine. Helmets hurt. Quit trying to claim that pads make it a lame game.
i've played both, i've suffered much more dizzying hits in american football than in rugby. - mbarker2, on 10/01/2008, -0/+1I love how in that clip, almost everyone is standing doing nothing, and there are like 3 people running...
- bossm4n, on 10/01/2008, -0/+4Try getting hit by a dude 6'5" weighing 300+ wearing body armor, running at full speed and tell me how you feel. - 4cdawgs, on 10/01/2008, -0/+0Freakin' Awesome! I love Football.
- munawarali2, on 10/01/2008, -0/+2The last clip where the QB walks the old man off is surprising. Didn't think there were gentleman in the NFL anymore.
- muleskinner, on 10/01/2008, -0/+3Nice video, but very tasteless description. Boo on you, *****, boo on you.
- Chonoon, on 10/01/2008, -0/+1POW!!! Right in the kisser!
- JohnnyMarr, on 10/01/2008, -0/+0And I was just going to mention about how no one made the "POW!! Right in the kisser!" comment yet. Good jorb.
- jedicurt, on 10/01/2008, -0/+1what? no george atkinson "head hunting" hit on lynn swann
- plundstedt, on 10/01/2008, -0/+1Haha, the old geezer at the end was classic. Other than that, good hits, but I hate to see guys land on their head...neck injury waiting to happen.
