Burnout Paradise Will Have Planes
gamercenteronline.net — Burnout was all about the cars but over at Criterion they’re looking to change things.

- LongShlong, on 07/05/2008, -3/+3If this is true... I can see a lot of 9/11 sympathizers having issues with it.
However, it could just be a shameless publicity stunt by Criterion... Trying to travel the trail Rockstar paved, in a very sloppy fashion.- kemuelste, on 07/05/2008, -1/+1you know i was thinking the same thing that is why they did not have it in gtaiv
- xxbrighteyed, on 07/05/2008, -1/+4That seems kind of stupid to me, that any instance of a plane exploding in fiction would be considered offensive just because of one act of terrorism.
- LongShlong, on 07/05/2008, -0/+1Yeah, it does seem stupid, but it happens all the time.
- fatb0y42, on 07/05/2008, -5/+2umm... although i have nothing against the idea,
blowing up planes in slo-mo sounds too much like 9/11 too me...- BoonTobias, on 07/05/2008, -0/+2911 wasn quite fast
- xxbrighteyed, on 07/05/2008, -2/+4This is a crap attempt to re-invent the series, combined with the open world thing this shows they're just missing the point. They should've given the series a rest after Burnout 4.
- Pulp, on 07/05/2008, -0/+2Burnout Paradise is amazing, and so long as planes don't jeopardize the existing gameplay, I won't have a problem with them being added. It's not like they'd be replacing your option to drive cars.
That said, I don't see this happening anytime soon... or ever. Every move Criterion has made with Paradise has been perfect and this would be kind of pointless since driving around is so much fun. The addition of motorcycles is enough variation for me, thanks.- xxbrighteyed, on 07/06/2008, -1/+1I know I will still have the option to drive cars, but other people will have the option in multiplayer to pilot planes, will they not? Kind of ruins the atmosphere and original point to the game if you ask me.
And i much preferred the hub enviroment to the open world, it just didn't suit the gameplay like the hub did.
Oh and it will happen, because according to this article that's their intended next move.

- shadokast, on 07/05/2008, -0/+5I don't buy it. The aspects of gameplay that make Burnout awesome will be completely non-existent if planes are drivable. Driving into oncoming traffic, grinding paint with others cars, avoiding collisions with terrain; I could go on and on.
I'm not doubting that the plane is real. The graphic is pretty spot on to the style of Burnout Paradise. But Paradise City has only one place to land a plane (another reason why this couldn't happen), and anyone that plays the game knows that Paradise Airfield is a pretty popular spot to pull off stunts.
I don't think the good folks at Criterion Games would be stupid enough to make planes drivable. But I could think of some pretty awesome Halo 2 Terminal-esk, "Killed by the Guardians" moments if they decide planes should land in one of Paradise City's most popular hangouts.- WhereAmI, on 07/05/2008, -0/+1"I'm not doubting that the plane is real. I've got news for you...its a real plane... - shadokast, on 07/06/2008, -1/+1Damn..nice catch. Still, you've got to hand it to the developers for a solid job on the graphics. Before you set me straight-- I was fooled.

- fpaudon, on 07/06/2008, -0/+1Come on, am I the only one looking forward to racing cars and planes at the same time?
- TheAmbushAhead, on 07/06/2008, -0/+1"Bi-plane currently in prototype stages, may never be released"
