- Emused, on 05/14/2008, -112/+15It looks awesome!, I didn't see any specs for Windoz, too bad not ported to Linux (ne flavour), if its at all good, lets hope..I did see some elements from BF 2 , the solar panels, and some of the BF 2 Spec Ops work on the rope slide.Multi player would be a blast.

- sanman, on 05/14/2008, -12/+3As somebody who loves Wii Jogging, I'd love to see a game concept like this combined with the Wii Jogging physical style of gameplay. Now that would be a whole lot of fun - and good for the heart, too.

- BobTheFish, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1Kinda reminds me of the Portal colours actually.

- LeeSoong, on 05/14/2008, -4/+8FPS has been done to death, pun intended.
It's nice to see a game that is more than just ''bang, bang - run, shoot, fly, fall, die!'
Exactly where game design needs to go: Modern hardware can make the environment and movement more interesting than simple combat.- jgzman, on 05/14/2008, -0/+3I have fond memories of Thief and Thief II. I understand that Thief III was more typical FPS.
- LeeSoong, on 05/15/2008, -1/+4MYST - old though it was, sold millions of copies and made a ton of money,
with no combat - just puzzles... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myst_franchise- etruscan, on 05/15/2008, -0/+4Yeah, but... different. Myst and Riven were slideshows. Good games, don't get me wrong... but slideshows.

- modifiedbears, on 05/14/2008, -2/+15They purposely chose those colors to lead you along their linear path. All the red objects are there to direct you on where to go.
- arcticblue, on 05/14/2008, -0/+10There's more than one path. The red ones are just the most obvious and will probably contain the most enemies. People from Dice get on their forums from time to time to talk a little bit about the game and this was one of the things they relayed.

- Refridgeron, on 05/14/2008, -14/+7Yeah, looks like a modern-day Assassins Creed... It should be in third person though...
- Disease, on 05/14/2008, -0/+7That's not as fun.
- sanman, on 05/14/2008, -0/+5very repetitive

- sanman, on 05/14/2008, -0/+5very repetitive
- Makaveli604, on 05/14/2008, -1/+2It actually looked EXACTLY like assassins creed in movement..
i think this game will live or die in detail (assassins creed did this amazingly well, it just had other flaws) and level design - Cimlite, on 05/14/2008, -0/+2Difference between Mirror's Edge and Assassin's Creed is that running in AC was just a small part of the game. It was also done pretty much with out any skill, just hold one button down and run into a wall.
In this though, whole thing of running and balancing is supposedly a huge part of the game. Not just a simple hold one button down and go type deal.
- Disease, on 05/14/2008, -0/+7That's not as fun.
- LeeSoong, on 05/14/2008, -2/+21looks great, worth buying on the demo footage alone...
If ID created Mirror's Edge, you would be running only at night,
carrying a flash light.- alexforcefive, on 05/14/2008, -0/+14That would actually be awesome

- lennybird, on 05/15/2008, -1/+6All I can say is that gave me the ***** chills. Trailer alone - this game looks badass.
- jgtg32a, on 05/15/2008, -2/+4I'm so afraid because EA is publishing it, I love the look of this game I want it so succeed. For some reason I've always hated 3rd person games, MGS, Splinter Cell, Gears. Well I didn't hate them I just wish I could have played in 1st person, when every I brought that up my friends would say you can see as well then, which was the point. In MGS, SC, and Gears you could always be perfectly hidden and force the camera to let you see around the corner, I hate that. In Gears you can crouch behind a wall Marcus stares at his own crotch and "blind fire" over the wall, well not so much blind its suppose to be harder to hit things that you "can't see"
Please God don't let EA ***** this up.- da_bradler, on 05/15/2008, -0/+4EA has been getting better lately I think. They seem to have backed off on the conventional games and instead are throwing there funding power behind games with new looks and play styles.
- Tyrghast, on 05/15/2008, -1/+3The only thing I want from this game is smooth, fluid, intuitive controls. Don't give us the wonky, half-assed control scheme of Assassin's Creed, please.

- NaziHatinChimp, on 05/14/2008, -3/+35That looks sweet. Anyone know if it is free roam or not?
- quaunaut, on 05/14/2008, -4/+26The impression I've gotten from previews is that it is not free roam, but open levels. So definite start and end points, but dozens of ways to get to and fro each.
- skankyBacon, on 05/14/2008, -0/+12Nice. The one thing I didn't like about Prince of Persia was that despite the impression it gave, there was really only one way to go.
- arcooke, on 05/14/2008, -18/+6"It's first person action game which features free-running along with a slew of other unique and innovative gameplay characteristics." I thought that meant free roam.
- Stupidumb, on 05/14/2008, -0/+22This is what they mean by free-running: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parkour
- Latentsage, on 05/15/2008, -1/+1No. That's what they mean by parkour. Free running is slightly different. It involves pointless flips and flashy moves. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freerunning
- Stupidumb, on 05/14/2008, -0/+22This is what they mean by free-running: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parkour
- BlakeEM, on 05/14/2008, -1/+17It's not free roam, developers said in one of the interviews. You would be able to choose your path but you can't go anywhere in the city.
- LeeSoong, on 05/14/2008, -1/+10bummer, I was gonna go hang out in the LAN-Cafe and virtual gold farm all day...
- itsthebrod, on 05/15/2008, -1/+4So that'd earn you virtual virtual gold?

- cryonix, on 05/15/2008, -1/+3think half life 2 ep 2. It's linear, but you have multiple ways of going from A to B. So the spaces are big but not a fully realized open world. Ive read multiple articles that can be interpreted different ways. But it feels like its going to be linear. I'm not seeing a crackdown degree of city scape acrobatics. though that would be pretty sweet. crackdown has changed the way i play GTA, i keep seeing these amazing buildings i want to scale but can hop higher than a milk crate.
- Monkeydew06, on 05/16/2008, -0/+1Shame, I've been dieing for a first-person free roam game with acrobatics like this that has a GTA sandbox-esq feel to it. Sadly it hasen't been created yet.
- quaunaut, on 05/14/2008, -4/+26The impression I've gotten from previews is that it is not free roam, but open levels. So definite start and end points, but dozens of ways to get to and fro each.
- MarkTaiwan, on 05/14/2008, -5/+113I heard about the game a while ago, the trailer is absolutely amazing. The free-running part feels like it's better then Assassins Creed's.
(The music is also very good)- SSCrow, on 05/14/2008, -5/+23But the Free-roaming in AC was perfect. Absolute freedom to go everywhere whenever and very quickly.
- fadetoone, on 05/14/2008, -9/+4Except when you get to a chapel and can't figure out how in the hell to get up the side of it...
- Misanthrope, on 05/14/2008, -0/+11Well that's kind of the point now isn't it?
- fadetoone, on 05/15/2008, -4/+1Jesus christ people, He said the free-roaming was perfect, because you could go anywhere you want quickly. I was providing a counterpoint.
***** off.

- MaTT2011, on 05/14/2008, -2/+13Perfect? I guess if you consider "autopilot" to be an entertaining form of interaction...
The whole point of free roaming being fun is that there is some kind of challenge in which one exercises there ability to affect change within the game world; but in AC all you have to do is hold down some buttons and let IT do everything for you so you really aren't exercising anything.
Free-Roaming in AC was a spectator sport mainly and the whole point of games is interaction.
- fadetoone, on 05/14/2008, -9/+4Except when you get to a chapel and can't figure out how in the hell to get up the side of it...
- Ikulus, on 05/14/2008, -1/+16First-person is going to be harder to navigate than third.
- MaTT2011, on 05/14/2008, -2/+9And thats one reason why it has the potential to be a fun game; challenge. What would a game be without challenge? Clue; not a game.
- Disease, on 05/14/2008, -1/+10That's what makes it fun.
- vawksel, on 05/14/2008, -1/+4There is this board game called Candy Land, give it a try instead.
- da_bradler, on 05/15/2008, -0/+4My one problem with First person games is the field of vision is never wide enough. Humans have virtually 180 degree vision. But with first person games the field of view is closer to 50 degrees or 70 degrees(akin to flattening your hand and placing one on the edge of each eye facing forward).
This gives you a serious disadvantage because you have to turn to see everything where in real life you could see virtually everything that is in front of you in your peripheral vision.
obviously a complex problem to solve, the easiest way to address the problem is simply moving the camera father back, but in doing that you have to move the camera behind your character which results in a whole other list of problems.
- MaTT2011, on 05/14/2008, -2/+9And thats one reason why it has the potential to be a fun game; challenge. What would a game be without challenge? Clue; not a game.
- Dr3w, on 05/15/2008, -0/+8I know it's probably something an in-house composer did, but does anyone have any idea what song that is?
- tikiman453, on 05/15/2008, -3/+1i thought the music was lame.
but the trailer/game was bad ass.
- SSCrow, on 05/14/2008, -5/+23But the Free-roaming in AC was perfect. Absolute freedom to go everywhere whenever and very quickly.
- Okari, on 05/14/2008, -7/+126I didn't know about it until it hit the front page last week.
- jesuswuzanalien, on 05/14/2008, -2/+41If the front page was anything like your mom I'd hit it every week too.
- choopie911, on 05/15/2008, -0/+12I'm not sure how you're not at +278 by now.

- paramvir, on 05/14/2008, -8/+10looks sick!
- cdahlkvist, on 05/14/2008, -7/+12How could you tell? I saw no indicators of a fever, rash, cough or runny nose.
- noots, on 05/14/2008, -0/+3the graphics are impressive. But with little texture used it looks like the city is a clayrender.
- debuffplx, on 05/14/2008, -31/+233Finnaly some innovation in gaming on the PC. Get rid of that ***** stupid eye tattoo please.
- LeeSoong, on 05/14/2008, -18/+2the tattoo looks like the RockStar logo, infringement ?
- identitymatrix, on 05/14/2008, -1/+14the rockstar logo is pretty much just an R and a star, and the tattoo is basically just a triangle or 2. So how exactly could it possibly even remotely resemble the rockstar logo?
- LeeSoong, on 05/15/2008, -1/+2kinda looks like a star, but I see your point (!)
- identitymatrix, on 05/14/2008, -1/+14the rockstar logo is pretty much just an R and a star, and the tattoo is basically just a triangle or 2. So how exactly could it possibly even remotely resemble the rockstar logo?
- vickers500, on 05/14/2008, -19/+27*Finally some innovation in games.* This game is not pc exclusive.
- ortucis, on 05/14/2008, -9/+18So you are saying that even thought it IS for PC, he can't say that there is 'finally' some innovation on PC, just because it's not for PC only..
Great, Digg me up 5 times as well pls.
- ortucis, on 05/14/2008, -9/+18So you are saying that even thought it IS for PC, he can't say that there is 'finally' some innovation on PC, just because it's not for PC only..
- MiserJ, on 05/14/2008, -10/+42I actually like the eye tattoo.
- MaxMWood, on 05/14/2008, -3/+10I agree. Without the tattoo she would be a normal everyday person, and thats just not video game!
- Nappuccino, on 05/16/2008, -0/+0We need more obviously virtual people in games... like the Simpsons.
- MaxMWood, on 05/14/2008, -3/+10I agree. Without the tattoo she would be a normal everyday person, and thats just not video game!
- thetanman, on 05/14/2008, -3/+1Thank you.
- Evi1d33d, on 05/15/2008, -2/+8Get rid of the cliché names.
- Vodd9, on 05/15/2008, -2/+1Well, after Prince of Persia and Assassin's Creed, I wouldn't be so quick to bet on that (mainly based on the gameplay footage).
- nitesoulja, on 05/15/2008, -7/+5yea the chick can be hotter too
- drafhk, on 05/15/2008, -5/+3Yeah, take away the asian butterface.
- Lazydriver, on 05/15/2008, -2/+8Greatest thing about PC games: EDIT THE DAMN CONTENT IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT! Goes for the eye-tattoo! Put a normal skin texture on there if you want!
- MixMasterK, on 05/15/2008, -0/+4clearly a reference to a clockwork orange...
therefore making the game that much better with tons of symbolic ties and such.
...or she's japanese and all cool japanese people have random tatoos- MaxMWood, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1I thought that, its not the same as a clockwork orange but it was probably inspired from that.
- chrgrose, on 05/15/2008, -0/+2I'm pretty sure you'll be able to change her makeup and clothing and such.
- LeeSoong, on 05/14/2008, -18/+2the tattoo looks like the RockStar logo, infringement ?
- kingofinternet, on 05/14/2008, -34/+25what's the point of having a female lead character when you can't see her boobs?
- stronglikedan, on 05/14/2008, -18/+10Don't know why you're getting dugg down when you're right.
- santaliqueur, on 05/14/2008, -6/+29Because guys like you should be looking at REAL girls...on the internet.
- Terr01, on 05/14/2008, -0/+11Shortly before release they'll try to gin up some more reviews by announcing that not only do her arms and legs flail and move realistically, but that other important physics concerns have been modeled...
- absurdist, on 05/14/2008, -0/+2And upon release hundreds of thousands of horny geeks will rush to buy the game only to find that the important physics concerns that have been modeled will be her realistic leaping ability.
*****. :(
- absurdist, on 05/14/2008, -0/+2And upon release hundreds of thousands of horny geeks will rush to buy the game only to find that the important physics concerns that have been modeled will be her realistic leaping ability.
- Disease, on 05/14/2008, -3/+13Because they're clearly trying to break the trend in being able to have a female character that isn't a sex object in a video game.
- Karoupa, on 05/14/2008, -2/+2I don't get it. She's not fat or ugly.
- trademaak, on 05/14/2008, -3/+1Yup, this game is still ment for little wankers. If they wouldn't have wanted her to be treated like a sex object, they would've put a 4-6 looking girl as the main character, just like in portal!
- Disease, on 05/14/2008, -0/+4You can have an game for grownups with female characters that aren't sex objects.
- trademaak, on 05/15/2008, -0/+0Grown ups shouldn't play games.
- trademaak, on 05/14/2008, -3/+1Yup, this game is still ment for little wankers. If they wouldn't have wanted her to be treated like a sex object, they would've put a 4-6 looking girl as the main character, just like in portal!
- absurdist, on 05/14/2008, -0/+2Yeah, because God knows, THAT doesn't sell. Ask Lara Croft.
- lamiaconfitor, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1you have too much faith in people... they obviously traded off for the innovation factor.
- Karoupa, on 05/14/2008, -2/+2I don't get it. She's not fat or ugly.
- vawksel, on 05/14/2008, -0/+8I take it you'd like her to have massive double D breasts that bounce up into her field of vision when she is running and jumping, blocking about 20% of your field of view every second or two.
- absurdist, on 05/14/2008, -1/+2It WOULD make for much more interesting gameplay... but DD is much too small for any realistic obscuring of vision.
- jgtg32a, on 05/15/2008, -1/+1yeah DD in a video game is like an A in real life.
- absurdist, on 05/14/2008, -1/+2It WOULD make for much more interesting gameplay... but DD is much too small for any realistic obscuring of vision.
- choopie911, on 05/15/2008, -0/+5Portal anyone? FPS with female lead.
- duggtodeath, on 05/14/2008, -44/+6I'm cautiously optimistic. The video resembled more of a target render than actual gameplay footage. I also noticed the complete lack of a ***** plot. I can see this being Assassin's Creed in first person...with a gun. If the gunplay is a tight as the parkour, then we have something. However, doesn't it feel rather shallow to add parkour to an FPS and then call it innovative?
- Neticule, on 05/14/2008, -2/+14that didnt look like a render to me, sure looked like actual gameplay. if it was a render, imo it would have looked quite a lot better. Not to say it looks bad, it looks awesome, I am very excited to try it out personally :)
- Tigerbot5, on 05/14/2008, -1/+52Maybe you should research a game a little bit more before criticizing it...
1) The trailer tells you "The following is all in-game footage"...
2) Many times when the first trailer comes out for a new game the plot is barely mentioned (And there is a plot, by the way)...
3) A quote from the producer: "this is an action adventure. We're not positioning this as a shooter - the focus isn't on the gun, it's on the person." - OUberLord, on 05/14/2008, -0/+5I recall the devs saying at first that there would be none to very little gunplay, so I doubt the FPS aspect will be anywhere near the forefront. If anything enemies will often have guns and it will be up to the player to evade them, rather than constantly trading fire.
- LeeSoong, on 05/14/2008, -1/+6duggtodeath, the fcking plot is this:
Liberate $52 dollars from your pocket and give it to EA.- duggtodeath, on 05/14/2008, -0/+4And DLC will make sure EA gets a round $60 from me :(
- Latentsage, on 05/15/2008, -1/+3The plot sounded ok. A bit cliche.
- jgtg32a, on 05/15/2008, -0/+2Its a video game

- RussellDovey, on 05/14/2008, -4/+27I guess the game's not for eunuchs, then.
- atruskot, on 05/14/2008, -0/+8...and any game thats worth anything at all allows you to adjust the volume levels of various sounds/music.
Besides COD4, but thats what mods are for :) - da_bradler, on 05/15/2008, -1/+5That's exactly why I stopped nailing your mom.
- chrgrose, on 05/15/2008, -1/+2I dunno. I think its kinda....hot.
On the other hand if you play as a dude it would probably only take about 40 seconds before I start looking around for how to turn it off.
- Jan33, on 05/14/2008, -30/+17whats that ***** on her eye?
- nobodynoes, on 05/14/2008, -3/+61Emo juice
- Jan33, on 05/14/2008, -20/+6how come i got dug down for askin.. whats that ***** on her eye?
- D14BL0, on 05/14/2008, -0/+16You got dugg down for asking the question like a jackass.
Since you're repeating yourself, you may start to notice a trend...- Jan33, on 05/15/2008, -0/+2..mmbut... like ... whats that ***** in her eye, dude?
- trademaak, on 05/14/2008, -6/+1Because diggers are a bunch of nerds. Also, the ***** on her azn eye is probably some sort of "artsy" tat.
- D14BL0, on 05/14/2008, -0/+16You got dugg down for asking the question like a jackass.
- sanman, on 05/14/2008, -1/+1mebbe she's a KISS fan
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZl8vePc3l0 - Shuk, on 05/14/2008, -0/+2I'm guessing that DICE came up with the idea for everything good, but then EA gave them a mandate to make the character more "trendy" to appeal to "youth".
- lamiaconfitor, on 05/15/2008, -1/+4Your Momma
- Jan33, on 05/15/2008, -1/+1i appreciated your deep insight
- wild, on 05/14/2008, -6/+64It looks great. My only reservation is how much platforming has always sucked in FPS games. Remember Half-Life 2? Great game, but the platforming areas were for *****.
I am hopeful, but it will take a demo to convince me.- wal9000, on 05/14/2008, -10/+2I recall one of the interviews saying that they were emphasizing different things across the three platforms it's being released on, rather than trying to make a single game and shoehorn it into several systems. The only specific difference he pointed out was sixaxis, but that along could make for a more interesting game. I imagine the PC version will be stellar too, especially in the visuals department.
- Flappity, on 05/14/2008, -0/+12I think someone misunderstood the term "platforming"
- bjs3171, on 05/14/2008, -3/+13i had no problem with the platforming levels in HL2. it was a little scary, but not that hard.
- RussellDovey, on 05/14/2008, -2/+17The platforming in all HL2 games has been awesome. Clearly Valve knows that I am their most important fan, since they put in all the stuff I like.
- fantasticFlan, on 05/14/2008, -2/+4It's not *always* bad in first person games. Check out Metroid Prime if you can, the platforming works great there.
- warplayer, on 05/14/2008, -1/+15Platforming is one of my favorite parts of HL2. It gives it that old-school feel that most games lack nowadays. FPS games had a healthy blend of shooting and platforming, and I think the industry has really gotten away from that.
- tyywebb, on 05/14/2008, -0/+6The only part that pissed me off was the electrified water. ***** that electrified water!!
- bigfatpaulie, on 05/14/2008, -0/+23By just adding her legs and feet into the visual field they've already made the platforming much better. This game looks hot.
- ZenMojo, on 05/15/2008, -2/+1After FEAR you think everybody would do it. But no, why bother ripping off the best game of the year?
- ortucis, on 05/14/2008, -12/+2Platforming? I thought that retarded gravity gun ***** with ***** physics was boring enough.
- lamiaconfitor, on 05/15/2008, -1/+4No one agrees with you, are you surprised? stick to free internet flash games, sounds more your speed, grandma.
- Mistaxe, on 05/14/2008, -1/+2"Remember Half-Life 2?" Hah! Who could forget?
- mastersquirrel3, on 05/14/2008, -0/+2The developer said that platforming doesn't suck in first person but that other games were too focus on shooting.
- television, on 05/15/2008, -0/+5I'd say the "platforming" will be pretty f**king good, considering that's the main feature of the game. The shooter element as mentioned in the review was minimal, which is good, it makes the game much more free and relaxed. Le Parkour anyone :) ?
- jon30041, on 05/15/2008, -0/+2L'art du displacement? It was mentioned in the article. Man, if Aero Chicago still had classes...
- jgtg32a, on 05/15/2008, -0/+2You had no body in HL only hands.
- ZenMojo, on 05/15/2008, -0/+2I've always wanted this game. Actually, I wanted it so much I wrote up an outline, description, and gameplay schematic and now I have to throw it away. ***** YOU, MIRROR'S EDGE. (And you too, INFAMOUS...!)
- TheGooseyOne, on 05/15/2008, -0/+2Metroid Prime much?
All three games included extensive platforming from the first person perspective. And it was all very well-done and fit seamlessly within the game. - Maver1c, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1Just thought I'd note that while it is first person, the developers aren't really categorizing it as FPS. Yes, there are guns in the game, but from what I've heard they play a very little role. Maybe it would be better categorized as FPP (First Person Perspective?)
- wal9000, on 05/14/2008, -10/+2I recall one of the interviews saying that they were emphasizing different things across the three platforms it's being released on, rather than trying to make a single game and shoehorn it into several systems. - wondertwins, on 05/14/2008, -0/+1now it wont be
- Tyrghast, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1I read about this in a magazine quite awhile back. I know it's been featured in several places since.
- retral, on 05/14/2008, -17/+10You know, I see so many comments about how 'awesome' this trailer is.. but I just can't say I'm impressed.. it seems kind of boring.
- warplayer, on 05/14/2008, -1/+8Some people aren't into adventure. That's fine.
- isntreal, on 05/15/2008, -0/+2I agree.
- Beatmiser, on 05/14/2008, -8/+12I downloaded the trailer in HD from PS3 Network last week and It's definately something I'm looking forward to.
- 2shae, on 05/14/2008, -11/+10Why did you have to add that you got it of the "PS3 Network"?
- ausfahrt, on 05/14/2008, -3/+16So others with ps3s can go and get it too possibly.
- superkendall, on 05/14/2008, -2/+3Because it's nice to know the PS3 will be getting it also (not mentioned in the summary)
- jon30041, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1First paragraph.
- Disease, on 05/14/2008, -1/+14Because he has 3 PS3's and we have no PS3's.
- vawksel, on 05/14/2008, -6/+2Because Beatmiser works for Sony and he is trying to hype the PS3 up.
Seriously, you know that Beatmiser works for Sony, go look at his other posts.
- 2shae, on 05/14/2008, -11/+10Why did you have to add that you got it of the "PS3 Network"?
- MacHarborGuy, on 05/14/2008, -3/+19Totally Rad Show covered this game a fair amount on their latest show.
- mindsnare, on 05/15/2008, -2/+2and I totally agree with what they were saying, this kinda of parkhour style game needs to be third person.
- Maver1c, on 05/15/2008, -1/+1Yea I kinda agree, but i will withold judgement until someone actually gets to play it...
- da_bradler, on 05/15/2008, -5/+1There still making that show? is it still 3 douches standing in front of a green screen making entirely uneducated comments for a half hour?
- mindsnare, on 05/15/2008, -2/+2and I totally agree with what they were saying, this kinda of parkhour style game needs to be third person.
- wireframework, on 05/14/2008, -4/+13This was featured on The Totally Rad Show this week.
- uncommonsmoke, on 05/14/2008, -4/+3They talked about this game on The Totally Rad Show last episode.
- hbeierg, on 05/15/2008, -1/+2do you realize you just completely repeated him?
- uncommonsmoke, on 05/14/2008, -4/+3They talked about this game on The Totally Rad Show last episode.
- X9001, on 05/14/2008, -2/+43Looks kinda like Prince of Persia if it were set in modern times and put in first person
- knight666, on 05/14/2008, -0/+22You know that wall running the Prince does?
Yeah, people can do that in real life, be it slightly more limited.- s3rgi0, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1yeah, but it'll get you just as far with less effort to just plant your foot on the wall and push off. If the wall is vertical that is.
- LeeSoong, on 05/14/2008, -0/+8for added fun, player two enters the game as a cloaked Predator hunting the runner,
and a dozen Aliens are hunting both of them...
AvPvR (Alien vs Predator vs Runner).- jgtg32a, on 05/15/2008, -0/+4I'd play it
- knight666, on 05/14/2008, -0/+22You know that wall running the Prince does?
- onClipEvent, on 05/14/2008, -10/+3i got a little bit of motion sickness watching the trailer....looks awesome tho!
- JudgeMonkey, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1Yeah, something tells me people who generally get motion sickness from regular gaming might have a very hard time with this.
- H1tchh1k3r, on 05/14/2008, -3/+4Looking forward for the release.
- flangepiece, on 05/14/2008, -1/+4Nnnnnf....nearly there.....greuuurgh YES!
- petecampbell, on 05/14/2008, -29/+7Did the producers of "Mirrors Edge" just take over Digg?
She runs across a wall? Wow that'll be the best use of the A button EVER! - Super6, on 05/14/2008, -2/+8Looks like assassin's creed with more free-run moves and set in Japan. Hopefully this game will end, unlike assassin's creed.
- BenKenobi88, on 05/14/2008, -0/+2AKA not really like Assassin's Creed. The first person really makes it different.
- FoxOrian, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1A whole lot still isn't known about it, though.
Time will tell on this one.
- NotalesS, on 05/14/2008, -13/+6Went over to gamestop today, They said it will be out By November this year.
- saunders45, on 05/14/2008, -3/+19Gamestop is the devil.
- monkel84, on 05/14/2008, -1/+6Did they have Battletoads for the Wii in?
- bigwillystyle, on 05/14/2008, -7/+3yeah i saw a preview for this in a magazine
- SuperDevil, on 05/14/2008, -15/+9EA, no thanks.
- kakwakas, on 05/14/2008, -0/+9At least it's DICE.
- Jan33, on 05/14/2008, -3/+4Im never touching them again ...until they at least try and make up for BF2142
- BlackCow, on 05/14/2008, -1/+2And make up for BF2. That game is still buggy as *****!
- DivineComedy, on 05/14/2008, -0/+5I like to think of it as 'quirky'.
- Disease, on 05/14/2008, -1/+1Like Juno.
- helooksmortal, on 05/14/2008, -10/+106no reflection from the window when she was right in front of it after riding the zip-line? those windows were so shiny they were reflecting buildings from way behind her. i guess i'm just paying too much attention to detail, but for as pretty as this game looks so far, i was expecting that little bit for some reason.
and seeing EA associated with the title makes me wary...- dhVyse, on 05/14/2008, -5/+14EA has a way of fraking good games.
- Neo829, on 05/14/2008, -1/+2I have high hopes for this. Skate turned out well, despite their name all over it.
- vawksel, on 05/14/2008, -1/+1Frack you.
- warplayer, on 05/14/2008, -1/+5Yes, shades of the Mark Ecko game pass over me as I watch this trailer.
- Zoplax, on 05/14/2008, -4/+1Not buying another EA game after the BF2 / 2142 crap.
- Nescirian, on 05/14/2008, -2/+7Yeah, because the publisher decides every bit of development.
If you're worried about the branding or the box art, blame EA. If you're worried about the game... Dice has a pretty good track record and this is their big attempt to break into a new IP. They're taking it pretty seriously and, based on that trailer, it looks like they're going to deliver.
I can't wait. - dhVyse, on 05/14/2008, -1/+10When I mean turn to *****, I mean EA makes unskippable intros and tag videos, atroucious menu designs, and awful online browsers.
- ortucis, on 05/14/2008, -0/+8You can skip all intros on PC.
- herrshuster, on 05/14/2008, -0/+5well...given you know which movies to delete
- AussieFox, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1Its not that hard, just google for a tweaking guide for the game.
- FoxOrian, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1Wouldn't the menu designs still be created by Dice for this one? I'm more worried about EA making them put advertising into it.
Though for EA-developed and published games, their sense of graphic design never really seems to change. "Add more paint splatters!" Eugh
- ortucis, on 05/14/2008, -0/+8You can skip all intros on PC.
- ZeroNeo, on 05/14/2008, -1/+2What worries me is that being from EA and having almost no advertisement makes me think that they want this game to fail, so that they'd have an excuse to keep developing the same crap over and over again like they want to.
- sixthree, on 05/14/2008, -0/+2Yeah, because any corporation wants to see their multi-million dollar projects fail.
- patm1987, on 05/14/2008, -1/+10To be fair, that kind of reflection would really slow down the game. It would require either placing a camera in the window facing the player and rendering the entire scene from that perspective (albeit at a lower resolution) or rendering the entire scene to a reflection map before rendering the reflections. It's much easier and almost as realistic to pre-bake a reflection map for an area and just index that... see http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb147401(V ... (doesn't cover generating the map which would require some fancy rendering in real time). This is one area where raytracing has a major push, since if you were able to get a real-time raytracer running it would be negligible (in both cpu time and code complexity) to trace nth order reflections.
- Nescirian, on 05/15/2008, -2/+2It's true. Ray-tracing is faster and less resource intensive than current methods.
Ask anyone.
I was going to post this as is, but I realised digg has been known to bury people for more obvious irony than this. I'm assuming you're aware that ray-tracing gives better quality for much greater computational expense, and you meant that GIVEN ray-tracing, reflections would already be implemented. - LucasVB, on 05/15/2008, -0/+7But... but! Duke Nukem 3D did it! In 1996!
"Damn! I'm looking good!" - hbeierg, on 05/15/2008, -0/+5or you could just say shes a vampire
- polygons, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1But clearly shes running in daylight.
- Nescirian, on 05/15/2008, -2/+2It's true. Ray-tracing is faster and less resource intensive than current methods.
- stroszek, on 05/15/2008, -0/+5I've read in a magazine that it's actually artistically intentional. Has something to do with the title.
- Maver1c, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1Yea, it is possible that her lack of reflection could be story-based. At least I hope so, not a big Bai-ling fan (that is who this character is modelled after, right? kinda looks like her.... http://hotandnerdy.files.wordpress.com/2007/09/hn- ... )
- dhVyse, on 05/14/2008, -5/+14EA has a way of fraking good games.
- The_Red_Monkey, on 05/14/2008, -7/+37Great, a parkour video game...
- cosinezero, on 05/14/2008, -10/+6It's freerunning. Parkour is a bit different, focusing on style rather than running.
- BaoUnit, on 05/14/2008, -0/+13No, freerunning focuses on style rather than running. Parkour is the safe, efficient, and quick (In that order) movement from one point to another.
- JudgeMonkey, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1is that acurate? Being massively overweight and lazy I've never bothered looking too much into the subject, but safe is not something that ever sprung into mind seeing David Belle do it.
- trademaak, on 05/14/2008, -10/+1OMG stop arguing wether it is freerunning or some other crap. Really - nobody cares ok? You sound like nerds...oh wait. I am on Digg.
- Maver1c, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1Isn't discerning the proper name for what this whole game is about a valid thing to talk about? Jeeze...
- BenKenobi88, on 05/14/2008, -0/+2What BaoUnit said...you got them mixed up there buddy. And this is more parkour than anything...she's not doing backflips off walls for the hell of it.
- BaoUnit, on 05/14/2008, -0/+13No, freerunning focuses on style rather than running. Parkour is the safe, efficient, and quick (In that order) movement from one point to another.
- SirBloody, on 05/14/2008, -5/+5a 2nd parkour video game. i predict that there will be more and more of these in the following years (since the success of assassins creed)
- GeoBjorn, on 05/14/2008, -0/+6assassins creed was not a parkour game, it was a game with some parkour elements. The 2 are different beasts
- mathew_bug, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1nope, but free running was
http://psp.ign.com/objects/683/683279.html
- mathew_bug, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1nope, but free running was
- trademaak, on 05/14/2008, -0/+1Assassins creed was a ***** game. They promised realistic battles, but instead made you invincible and enemies weak and stupid. There is only one useful feature - climbing. And that gets boring after an hour, besides jumping repetative faith leaps looks stupid and childish. Now GTA4 on the other hand...
- GeoBjorn, on 05/14/2008, -0/+6assassins creed was not a parkour game, it was a game with some parkour elements. The 2 are different beasts
- B3nno, on 05/14/2008, -3/+9I read that as, "Great! A parkour video game!"
- gonzomarte, on 05/14/2008, -0/+3Pac Man was parkour
- ZenMojo, on 05/15/2008, -0/+2Someone should do a retrospective on parkour in videogames: Prince of Persia, Sly Cooper, Mario 64, Mega Man (slide dash + wall jump FTW!)
- Maver1c, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1I don't know why but I find parkour and just acrobatics in general fascinating. It's made me look at environments and how we interact with them in a completely different way. I guess that's why I was such a big fan of Prince of Persia when it came out.
- cosinezero, on 05/14/2008, -10/+6It's freerunning. Parkour is a bit different, focusing on style rather than running.
- Iggins, on 05/14/2008, -8/+7Now THAT's how you market a game. No, seriously.
- peterb518, on 05/14/2008, -15/+3To me, it seems like a 3rd person camera would much better suit this game. Hopefully they add that as an option. I know, it's not as "realistic" or "immersive" but I think it would improve the gameplay greatly. Or maybe EA will prove me otherwise.
- str1fe, on 05/14/2008, -1/+5I'm pretty sure the point is to deviate from the norm of this genre. Third-person games like this have been done to death, this is meant to be a more unique experience.
- Henwood, on 05/14/2008, -7/+2Yes thank you. I'm quite aware of it.
- alittleroy101, on 05/14/2008, -1/+4It was on the cover of Play magazine as the feature story. I also think that Game Informer had it as its cover a couple months ago.
- pandorazboxx, on 05/14/2008, -0/+1it was just in an article in game informer a couple months ago
- Neoanarchist, on 05/14/2008, -18/+5Looks badass! I will definitely pirate this game.
- trademaak, on 05/14/2008, -4/+2OMG you are a thief!!! You better buy it from torrent shop!
- kakwakas, on 05/14/2008, -4/+131This is where Sega SHOULD have taken the Sonic franchise.
- recruz, on 05/14/2008, -1/+68that would require being creative and innovative
- da_bradler, on 05/15/2008, -1/+6UMMM EXCUSE ME! didn't you see Shadow? he was totally creative and innovative... they took sonic made him black and gave him a bad attitude. If that's not innovative i don't know what is
- Disease, on 05/14/2008, -3/+1It would require a motion sickness warning. So much motion blur!
- maxsunset, on 05/14/2008, -3/+3No no no no no.... Possibly if the art was super stylized, but even then...
- recruz, on 05/14/2008, -1/+68that would require being creative and innovative
- coheedcollapse, on 05/14/2008, -3/+8I saw the trailer on the PSN. Really, really, REALLY impressive. Looks incredible. If they can pull of the game mechanics, this could be a pretty awesome game.
- n0c0ntr0l, on 05/14/2008, -12/+5I would play this, but i got real life free running to practice. but looks amazing.
- scamper22, on 05/14/2008, -12/+2so you're african american?
//relax. a lil racial humor.- n0c0ntr0l, on 05/14/2008, -3/+7Im not ***** American! I am african though, and i love parkour.
- trademaak, on 05/14/2008, -3/+2Oh, lol. Well that is no suprise. After all you are used of climbing trees there in Africa.
- n0c0ntr0l, on 05/14/2008, -3/+7Im not ***** American! I am african though, and i love parkour.

- ilves7, on 05/14/2008, -4/+75"A runner, whose parents were killed protesting the government, named Faith has to free her sister from the corrupt government. Being taught not to rely on the current means of communication, partly because it's all monitored by the police and government, she begins running messages to the criminal underworld while attempting to rescue her sister. She only has a mysterious character named Mercury to rely on as she gets pursued by many government agents. "
The amount of bad writing in this one paragraph alone is painful.- farblong, on 05/14/2008, -1/+22CHINA! The Game. (aka mash-up Run-Lola-Run, and GITS)
- Dunnix, on 05/14/2008, -1/+4hmm, where did you get Run-Lola-Run out of that story line?
- SirBloody, on 05/14/2008, -0/+5for some reason i was thinking about "Run Lola Run" too while watching the trailer
- farblong, on 05/14/2008, -0/+6Well, for starters, in RLR there was...crime underworld drama...saving a loved one...do overs (it fits, since this is a game after all)...and, oh yes...a lot of damn running.
BTW, was anyone else reminded of Tokyo as the setting for the trailer...maybe around Ikebukuro? You can see sunshine city on the left as she goes zipping along. Also note that the cars on the street below (when she's walking on the pipe between buildings) are on the left side of the road.
hmm...this could be interesting...I hope they have Pachinko parlors in there too.
- flangepiece, on 05/14/2008, -1/+6Reminds me of bits of Aeon Flux storylines too.I'll doom my post by stating for the record I really liked the live action film too...
- Dunnix, on 05/14/2008, -1/+4hmm, where did you get Run-Lola-Run out of that story line?

- l815, on 05/14/2008, -5/+3That trailer gave me a good feeling ;o
- Kinsbane, on 05/14/2008, -5/+6Here's hoping it doesn't turn out to be a *****. I really, really hope it doesn't. This game so far looks phenominal.
- ftx437, on 05/14/2008, -16/+10looks like this could be a contender to beat gta4 (god i hate that game)
- pearlygate, on 05/14/2008, -3/+9lol getting buried for stating personal preferences is so digg...
- SirBloody, on 05/14/2008, -3/+3he's probably getting buried because he dared say a bad thing about GTA IV, it's just like if you say something negative about obama, and before that it was ron paul. People tend to automatically hate those who don't share their points of view, even if most people base their opinions on other people's opinions.
- digitul, on 05/14/2008, -3/+2or maybe he's getting buried for bringing up something that has nothing to do with the topic.
this game looks lame btw - Diggey11, on 05/14/2008, -0/+0Say what...?
- pearlygate, on 05/14/2008, -3/+9lol getting buried for stating personal preferences is so digg...
- papipablo, on 05/14/2008, -10/+6Looks pretty sweet, but I'm wary of EA games as they tend to suck.
- Philbert, on 05/14/2008, -1/+1I'd like to see you say that right after playing some Zany Golf.
- Texmurphy01, on 05/14/2008, -2/+5Yes, I did know about this. Heard about it on Eurogamer a few months back.
- Disease, on 05/14/2008, -0/+7Well aren't you an internet guru.
- Kireblade, on 05/14/2008, -2/+34Wow, Ms. Swan has her very own game!
- Memnochxx, on 05/14/2008, -3/+2I didn't read about any new or innovative features in the article, and the 2 minutes of running in the trailer made me really want to buy this game!
- NoahK, on 05/14/2008, -22/+5Free running, as opposed to paid running? What's the hype about? Can't you drive around in GTA IV without paying tolls?
- D14BL0, on 05/14/2008, -2/+7Swing and a miss.
- sublimenal13, on 05/14/2008, -2/+12Wow, all in-game footage? When did a trailer give you that? However, I will wait it out a while before getting the game. I'm more interested in the story part.
- Lunarbunny, on 05/14/2008, -0/+4I don't know, it looks to be about on par with what I expect from Unreal Engine 3. It may have been touched up a little, but we'll have to see...
- sixthree, on 05/14/2008, -4/+2It's not on UT3, nor does it look anything like it...
- Cloud7654, on 05/15/2008, -0/+2FTA:
"Mirror's Edge was announced almost a year ago and has slipped quitely under radar until now! It's powered by Unreal Engine 3, in addition to a new lighting solution developed by EA Digital Illusions CE (DICE)."

- InfinitySnatch, on 05/14/2008, -2/+4The trailer claims to be all in-game footage as soon as it starts. Really, you can't miss it.
- NOFXY, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1what you think he said, he didnt say.
- Nescirian, on 05/14/2008, -0/+0Wait... you're more interested in a story about someone whose parents were killed by the government than that gameplay and graphics?
Did you watch the same in-game trailer as I did? - Gregsaw, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1when its not in game footage. You really think every trailer is in game footage? did you see that sonic unleashed on where he throws the ring in the air?
