EB games charging people $7.99 for used Burger King Pocket Bike Racer.
img252.imageshack.us — I was just browsing a local EB games when I came upon their latest ripoff. Only an 800% increase over the actual price at the local Burger King. http://digg.com/gaming_news/ Burger_King_games_now_just_0_99_w_combo_meal Here's another link to another picture. http://img406.imageshack.us/img406/9094/0203071302pe2.jpg

- Akaji, on 10/12/2007, -5/+195Dugg for EB Games/Gamestop hate.
- GentlemanDash, on 10/12/2007, -22/+4I get my games from Walmart or Play-Asia...worth the price for the sake of no talk.
- themastersb, on 10/12/2007, -7/+43EB games is soooooo overpriced. You could go there...... or just go to Walmart for the same game only $30 cheaper.
- Crossmenjeff, on 10/12/2007, -20/+7i don't know, i get new to DVD movies 3 for 20 at Gamestop so they aren't all that bad.
If your BK is out of them, and you waited until now to buy the game anyway, you shouldn't complain about having to pay a little extra for a sought after collector's item. - Nearoschyth, on 10/12/2007, -2/+44Used Burger King Pocket Bike Racer as a collector's item? Even if it was, I'm pretty sure the big yellow price sticker stuck right on the box would ruin its value.
- shoota, on 10/12/2007, -22/+11***** walmart
- maiku00, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2gogamer has TERRIBLE navigation. It looks straight out of the early 90s...
- blijack, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I saw the same thing today at the EB in Redwood City, California - http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g37/sharbaz/eb_suxorz.jpg
I was going to report this as soon as I got home, but Digg and Destructoid beat me to the punch (as always).
EB is worse than EA. - doublebummer, on 10/12/2007, -7/+3Good. Anyone who spends any money to play a commercial deserves to get ripped off.
- Tikkimann, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Wow, EB Games and Gamespot certainly have received a lot of hate this week. I'm glad they deserve it.
- troopa, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2themastersb,
Wal-Mart is widely known to have the average highest price among video games. EB/GS is usually lower for new games. This can be backed up by me and tons of people at CheapAssGamer.
Anyway, this is kind of funny. What's even funnier is that somebody will buy it.
- __J__, on 10/12/2007, -0/+88Wonder what the buy back price was...
- RiverBelow, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2824 cents?
- ts8lemonade, on 10/12/2007, -0/+27It's either a dollar or a dollar-fifty. I forget exactly; I had some guy trade one in a couple weeks ago.
- CapitalPro, on 10/12/2007, -1/+112EB is getting hammered on Digg lately. ***** them.
- gallagherFTW, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7where do i buy my games online now?(no car)
newegg? any suggestions? cause i am definitely boycotting EB. They are ridiculous. - zybch, on 10/12/2007, -10/+24bittorrent!!
- cam0man, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9I'd reccomend gogamer.com , they have incredible customer service and great prices. I'd like to think of them as the newegg of the gaming world.
- broomett, on 10/12/2007, -20/+6Generally that means that they are successful. Digg hates all successful companies because the avrage digger knows he will never be successful at anything in life.
- ShBm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Amazon or Newegg (though the last time I looked they didn't have a huge selection). You could also check http://www.deepdiscountdvd.com They have good dvd prices and sales and free shipping. I've never really compared their game prices, but I know they sell them.
- TheTaoOfBill, on 10/12/2007, -15/+1Good luck finding a gamestore that doesn't do the EXACT SAME THING. You should probably boycott Barns and Noble and Borders and FYE and Best Buy and Walmart and every other store that does the same ***** thing. Or you can quit whining and be happy that there is a store where you can find a huge selection of games and accessories all in one place. Something that wouldn't exist for most people without ebgames and gamestop
- wedges, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6how can barnes and noble do the same thing if they don't deal in used products?
- TheTaoOfBill, on 10/12/2007, -11/+0I'm talking about the collective EB games/Gamestop hate articles that have been appearing for the past 2 days.
- Satertek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Definately GoGamer
- wedges, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1in this article they comment on a used game that costs more than a new game. how can barnes and noble do the same thing?
in some other articles, they comment on EB's practices of selling used games as new ones, trying to prevent you from returning it. Target, Best Buy, and WalMart all have normal, sometimes even generous return policies, in my experience.
perhaps FYE is a culprit, but I typically find great prices at Barnes and Noble, Target, WalMart, etc, and I never find overpriced used games there. - DIAF, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2GAMEFLY.
- gallagherFTW, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7where do i buy my games online now?(no car)
- dboy3587, on 10/12/2007, -2/+35i hate that store
- MrPwnage, on 10/12/2007, -4/+21EB Games is a scam itself.
- ChronusDark, on 10/12/2007, -9/+3since when is ebgames ripping people off new news? i thought everyone knew that
used new releases are only 5 dollars or so less even if the original book and case are gone - ImTheDarkcyde, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13limited edition, did you expect the price to go down?
you should see how much they charge for Chrono Trigger ($40.00)- MatttK, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Exactly.. with the amount of popularity these games have got for being actually pretty crummy games, it is no wonder that some places are marking them up.
- edilclyde, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3the second image has a Rainbow Six Vegas at the back and its $54.99 USED, thats insane, my local game shop has it for $39.99 USED and the pc version is just $50..
- ts8lemonade, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yeah, most of the used stuff at the store is marked off only $2-5. Anything over $30 gets marked down $5 for being used. $19.99 and under is usually $2 off for being used. That's not a big incentive to buy used to save like $2...
- teamparadox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5@ts8lemonade
Exactly, I dont buy used games unless they are crazy cheap. Why bother with $5 off when you have to deal with a beat up box, possible scratched disk and friggen stickers all over everything? They make so much money on used games its just INSANE. - ViRaZ, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I walked into a game store called the Game Attic (or something like that) and they had 9 used copies of Final Fantasy VII at $99. Every one of them were from the Greatest Hit line of Playstation games.
- Pac56, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If those FFVII's had been the original release, they proably would have cost more.
And about Chrono Trigger... If you have a Rhino Videogames near you, check them out. With Gamestop buying Rhino, all of their "Olds Kool" games (NES, SNES, Genesis) are 75% off. I was able to grab Final Fantasy for the NES for a little over 2 bucks, along with picking up Maniac Mansion and Kid Icarus. You may get lucky and find a Chrono Trigger or Mega Man X3 sitting on their shelves...
- john2kx, on 10/12/2007, -4/+14I wouldn't be surprised if they were trying to sell it off as new.. :P
- ferretpants, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Wow, I wouldn't have expected EB to actully stoop this low. For shame...
- ChronusDark, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1but they are still selling them there limit yet at least i assume BK will sell them as long as there is a demand
- Rikushix, on 10/12/2007, -15/+2That is pretty annoying, but keep in mind that the 99 cents deal is with the combo at BK. Without, its 4 or 5 dollars. Yes, it should be cheaper, but a few bucks more isn't a tragedy.
- pronouncable, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4For a commercial, it's tragedy +1
- GeneralFailure0, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I don't know why they should be much cheaper than $5. They're as good or maybe better than most of the XBLA titles available for the same price.
- DCJoeDog, on 10/12/2007, -10/+1Digg this down, it's in the wrong place
- MannaPC, on 10/12/2007, -36/+2EB sucks. I recommends Gamestop. I know, some people say Gamestop is a crap shoot too, but I know ours it pretty good. Nice staff too.
- pronouncable, on 10/12/2007, -0/+26That'd be great if they weren't under the same corporation.
- PureHeretic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18you understand that GameStop owns EB?
- commandar!, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8EB Games and GameStop are the exact same company.
- blahtastic, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Our gamestop EB situation used to be the exact opposite. EB nice people, Gamestop not so much. Actually, they're both in the same mall (still are, oddly enough) . As for anything beyond your treatment in the store (which kept me at EB unless they didn't have what i wanted in stock), it's the exact same stuff though (as stated, same company). In a lot of not so urban areas these are the only game specific stores around though. Actually, where I live has a pretty damn big build up of stores in the past few years, and they're still the only game specific stores within a half hour drive.
- Pac56, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Even though they are the same company; if I have to choose between Gamestop or EB, I choose to go to EB. The main difference is how the individual stores are run. The Gamestop and EB, where I live, happen to be in different Districts even though they are only a couple of blocks apart. The District manager for the EB hires better store managers who in turn hires better employees and the stores are run much better. It's easier to find items in the EB store since the sections are more organized, and they have a larger selection of games and movies since more people shop there.
The EB employees are better informed and are also more willing to help you out if you can't find something. I've had the EB manager offer to get an item for me from one their other stores that I couldn't get too.
If there was an option besides EB/Gamestop, I'm sure I would go there instead. Unfortunately, every other game store that opens in my area either closes (GameXchange) or gets bought by EB/Gamestop (Rhino).
I do purchase games online, but I much rather walk into the store and walk out with the merchandise when I pay for it instead of waiting for it to be shipped and not have my money or my game.
- SuperSunny, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16But you get food with the meal so it's worth it!
- TheWorm, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11"But you get food with the meal so it's worth it!'
Yeah, but you get Burger King food. It's kind of a toss up. - STKD, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4Burger King do actual food now too?
- TheTaoOfBill, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Try the angus burger. ***** amazing.
- goosepillows, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Fixed : "Try the Anus burger. ***** amazing."
- mrFREEZE, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1fixed for real: "Try the Anus burger. Amazing *****."
- TheWorm, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11"But you get food with the meal so it's worth it!'
- no_root_toe, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6But it includes both the xbox 360 and the original xbox version!

Mirror 2: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/6/6a/Mirror.jpeg- spiderfish, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1ahah that made my day... what's left of it anyway.
- lazyguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Theres a trade 2 games for 1 "deal" at EB right now.
SCORE. - Pix869, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Can I just get the whole meal with the game for 20.00$?
- subarusqueege, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3I saw some Used Wii game going for $35 at Game Stop, but the same used games were $45 at EB Games. Needless to say I will not be doing much business at EB Games now on.....
- joaob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Same company, why not just boycott both?
- GeneralFailure0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Probably a fluke, they're both owned by the same company now.
- MCurley, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Same price.. one forgot to price change.
- MarkHawk, on 10/12/2007, -6/+0It is a rare trade back, selling for retail, at least there offering goods.(4 dollars game 5 dollar meal = 1 dollar off new price.) Yes it's not a perfect system but I'm welcome to anyone opening up local neighborhood game stores.
I'm an EB games supporter. My EB games volunteer there supplies to our local library's, gave me special treatment when i waited outside there store for a pre-order, and have been there for me during countless times during similar situations.- buffyoda, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5"...gave me special treatment when i waited outside there store for a pre-order."
That was the sound of an EB Games employee being fired. - InfinitySnatch, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6As heart warming as that is, I will still continue throwing rocks through their windows.
- blahtastic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2My best buy gave out Geek squad shirts (Geek squad sucks, but still a free shirt) and 19 day old Halloween candy to everyone camping for a Wii at 9:30 the night before. Not anything spectacular, but more than I expected (and yes, I'm easily won over with M&M's and Smarties).
- Akaji, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1There were about 70 people outside for 4 hours waiting for a Wii on a day that Gamestop had been telling people that they were getting Wii's in (this was almost a month after launch, two weeks before Christmas - I was 20th in line). It was about 30 degrees fahrenheit that day - cold enough to be very very uncomfortable after 4 hours of standing/sitting in line.
5 minutes before opening, they came out and told us they only had 4 Wiis. That's some awesome customer service.
- buffyoda, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5"...gave me special treatment when i waited outside there store for a pre-order."
- Lion9, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I hate EB. They totally screwed me once. I will never shop there again.
- magiphyre, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0I actually asked an EB sales associate one day about a game that they had selling for 30 dollars that I bought for 12.99 at a Game Crazy. I really couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the price. The answer that was given to me was the someone in corporate determines how rare or hard to get a game is and then bases the price on that. The more common a game is in their inventory is, the lower the price and harder it is to find, the more it is.
- broomett, on 10/12/2007, -9/+3Why don't you give Steve Jobs a call and ask why they charge so much for iPods when better MP3 players can be had for much cheaper elsewhere.
- DanITman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wait a minute here:
I can get this game without having to buy a value meal and drive to my local Burger King where they always get my order wrong. This is great!
Listen guys EB games has no interest in in selling this game for cheaper or the same price. Why would they want to undercut their dealers where the majority of their sales come from. Lets say they priced all their games on their website for $20 dollars cheaper why would you go to gamestop or anywhere else to buy it. Really they probably don't care. - Skafia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3We're not supposed to buy those games from people. I Think it says not for re-sale on the game itself, but Corporate told us not to buy the burger king games.
- SinisterDexter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If they said not to buy them back, why are there SKUs for them? If you look at the picture, it clearly(well... Blurily) has the title and not "Other - Xbox Title". The whole re-sale of used games is such a scam. It's just pure profit for the game stores that deal with it. Think about it. They sold the game to you and you sell it back, now they can sell it again without losing much(if any) cash at all.
- AndrewNorris, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13You should get a used burger with the game!
- unununium, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I'm not sure if you'd be able to tell the difference...
- uberdesigner, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Are they even allowed to resell Burger King games?
- xcheats, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's no different than any other publisher.
- djrbx, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Funny, I just bought Fuzion Frenzy 2 at EB about 5 minutes ago
- mrsark, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1those games are 99 cents now..
- deadlikeoscar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I heard they are going down to like 79 or 75 cents on Tuesday. (Same price as the toys) I'm not sure if you have to buy a meal with it anymore or not.
- Yokai, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1You guys have no idea how business works do you? EB games obviously wanted to get the rights to sell the BK games at EB games, however Burgerking wants to make their own profit by selling meals with em. Therefore, BK says ok but now you have to change 8 dollars not just 0.99c. So, in a sense, It is burgerkings fault because they want to gain more profit by selling it at a lower price.
Though why you would want that game anyway would be beyond my knowledge, it just looks like a stupid advertisement...- deadlikeoscar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2The sale of Used CDs DVDs Games etc. generates ZERO income to the original selling party.
- nerdx1000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@Yokai
Back away from the keyboard you ***** idiot! You are hereby banished from the internet!
Seriously though, EB and BK teaming up in a price fixing scheme is just about the dumbest idea I've ever heard of.
- juliocgrajales, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Whats the big deal don't like it don't buy it but I do agree EB Games, Gamestop, back in the days FuncoLand all of them are rip-offs charging ridiculous amounts of money. I guess their business model is buy games from crack users who stole the games from someone else for a penny on the price and resale for close as possible to the original price... if they don't sell they just keep on buying every know copy of a game and if someone is really interested they have to pay whatever price they mark it... of course I am just assuming all this stuff I think the most obvious thing to say about all the stores is that their business practices suck big time... the whole videogame industry is a ripoff
- Emesis, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3How dare a store charge a price you don't like!
I mean, what's happening to this country when monsters like EB Games can get away with crimes like this? Somebody should do something! - CraigJ, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Sorry, I don't get it. I buy used stuff there all the time. I got 2 games, Doom3, Area 51 (with the manuals, no less) and an extra controller for around $45 - seemed pretty reasonable. All retailer suck sometimes, Best Guy, Frys, etc. So what? You don't want to pay $8 for it? Quit your ***** bitching an move on. Hell, they are probably just following some stupid guideline and have no clue anyway.
lame. - PermaNoob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0EB Games!?!?!? I thought that was a Publix employee lounge.
- Nocturnal, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3You think that's bad? Here in Hawaii, Toys N Joys http://www.toysnjoys.com/, sell the Burger King games for $50.00+. Yes, you heard me right, worse than selling it used, they sell it brand new for $50.00+!!!!!!!!!!!
- Juroujin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1heh yeah, TnJ is notorious for having really expensive games.
- OrGoN3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4They actually got $3 for the trade in. As for the cost, well, isn't that the cost anyways since you have to buy the meal? And it was limited time if I remember correctly, which equals rarity.
In the long run, who cares! If the game is not worth $7.99 to you, simply don't buy it! It's going to be worth $7.99 to someone. And if not, then the game's price will be lowered. As of right now, it is the cheapest retail game for the 360 (retail, not including Live Arcade).- xino, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I saw Max Payne 2 at Gamestop for $1.99
- xerokitsune, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Eventually BK will stop carrying them then used will be the only way to get them aside from Ebay. If someone wants to grossly overpay for a game then let them, if they don't sell EB/Gamestop/other will take a loss. Personally I couldn't care about them selling something like this.
If you want to really see something silly, go look up the price "Chase the Chuck Wagon" for 2600 sells for normally.- ptsd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2you could only get chase the chuck wagon by sending away a bunch of proof of purchases off of dog food...its not the same thing.
- DisposableRob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1NVM wrong thread
- xino, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Xbox 1 users beware:there is no Xbox Live functionality in any of the Burger King games unless you are playing them on Xbox 360.
They did the same thing with Zelda Ocarina of Time/Ocarina of Time Master Quest for Gamecube and the Zelda collectors edition which contained all the Zelda games for NES and N-64. I think Ocarina of Time Master Quest is $40 and the collectors edition is $60. Collector's edition was free with subscription to Nintendo Power or with a purchase of a Gamecube. - joevill, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1O M G!!!
- Hallik, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0You guys do realize that if you're going to buy the game at Burger King, you have to buy it with a value meal. Hypothetically, a value meal can cost you anywhere from $5.50 to $8.00 plus the cost of the game itself, which is at least a few dollars, so basically you're paying the same amount of money but you don't get the food.
- GasPoweredGnome, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I feel bad so many people have had bad experiences with EB and Gamestop.
My local GS has actually a bunch of really awesome people working at it, and they are generally very helpful and knowledgeable.
Sucks :/. - miyamotofreak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If you guys want a videogame special store try Gamecrazy. Sometimes they're crazy cheap and they're trade in prices are way better than EB/Gamestop.
- dagamer34, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I didn't know the Burger King games were worth anything at all!
- ErinIsADrunk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1ha, the guy who traded it in probably got 25 cents for it.
- AndrewDB, on 01/10/2008, -1/+2God I hate my ex employer some times... (I'm the guy who wrote the story about the psychotic bitch who came into his EB..)
- tektalk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1All I can say to EB games is
"Stop Ass raping every customer who walks into your store!" - TejInLA, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The last time I went to a gamestop planing to buy a game (I'll frequently walk in and look around while I'm at a mall with others), they didn't have the game and asked me if I wanted to order it from them. I said no thanks, walked next door to best buy and bought it. They don't seem to buy a lot of stock of new games, since they make all their money on their used games, which I almost never buy anymore. Back in Snes days, there was a store called videottes near me that actually sold used games at a decent rate (~60% of new).
- thelimabeanking, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I don't have much love for EB...
But it is simple supply and demand. If it is worth 8 bucks to the consumer to get the BK game, and EB is offering it for 8 bucks, all is well. EB is happy because they made a boatload of money on the high markup. The customer is happy because the game was worth 8 bucks to them.
And if nobody values it at 8 bucks, nobody buys it and EB either shoves it into a warehouse and doesn't sell it or lowers the price to something people are willing to pay.
So what's the problem? - jrobbfed, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1actually it would be a 700% increase...
- TPrime, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think the funny thing here is that while there have tons of anti-EB and anti-GameStop stories over the weekend, I think a fair amount of digg users still shop there.
- brandonptx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1EB Games/Gamestop people are morons.
Go look in your local used Xbox 360 accessories section...
Ethernet cables are usually marked as "Xbox 360 Component Cables" and marked at $15.99 when the real used price for those are usually $4.99.
I've also seen many times Monster Branded/Or the fancy brand they now sell in Gamestops/EB's(the one with the finger print) component cables marked as "Ethernet Cables" and are used for $4.99 when a few inches over are the new ones going for $60/70.
Geniuses. I refuse to shop at those stores.- MewTwo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Everyone knows Gamestop is the LAST place you should shop for peripheral. You shouldn't even shop in any retailer for that.
- Pizzownzor, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0For the record everything that gets traded into eb has a set price in the computer system set by the home office. Some items like monster cables or any other brand named item don't have a special "monster cable" sku so they go under a generic sku that would make $50-60 cables go for $10-15 used. Also the eb you went to must be screwed up because used Ethernet cables are not under "Xbox 360 component cables" they should be under another sku and sell for $2-6 depending on the length. And i don't know why anyone would complain about cheap named brand component cables or, for example, $14.99 for a used logitech wireless PS2 controller. On a finishing note if you read the bottom of the receipt it will state the return policy for anything that does work so buying used isn't as bad as people make it seem.
- quamsta, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0When BK stops selling these things, demand might go up. They have the supply, customers have the demand. That means profit.
