        Yes, his mastery of photoshop that any 14 year old could accomplish after having messed with photoshop for 2 hours is just breath taking...

        If you think he's "absolutely stunning" you need to check out some people with actual talent and abilities with adobe...check out the artists at www.worth1000.com and just google search...

        The world doesn't need more horrible artists painting toilets, copy and pasting HL2 graphics onto a building, or taking pictures of faucets barely dripping into an empty sink and claiming it shows the internal strife of mankind vs nature...so please watch your praise.

        And I'm not artist, I realize I have no artistic abilities, but praising people for work such as that, hinders them from coming to that same realization.

        "In Half-Life 2: Raising the Bar, City 17 is described as being in an Eastern European setting. Some fans believe City 17 to be Sofia, Bulgaria, the hometown of the art director of Half-Life 2, Viktor Antonov. This is based on both City 17's general resemblance to Sofia and the frequent appearance of Bulgarian words (written in Cyrillic characters) on signs and graffiti throughout the game (although some of these are words in other Slavic languages as well). One clear example is "цимент" ("cement") written across the top of a large building in Ravenholm - the only language that spells the word in this way, using the Cyrillic alphabet, is Bulgarian. Furthermore, near the beginning of the game a newspaper entitled "Работническо Дело" (Rabotnichesko Delo) can be seen - this was the most popular newspaper in Bulgaria during its Communist period.   • U83RMENSCH, on 08/29/2008, -1/+2no, actually this is what they said and it has been known for several years now. its still the half life 2 story arch but they said the episodes are beings considered "half life 3" .. which is why they decided not to call half life episode one "after math". they said a half life 4 might be made, but it will only exist in the half life universe and will be made by a third party company ( much the same opposing forces and blue shift where. ) right now valve is working on the portal sequel ( which is think is stupid.. but what ever ).

    There used to be a ton but I can't find the rest. If you want try and find some more look for Half0-Life 2 and HDR rendering... these call came out before the Source engine got HDR so searches won't be very productive in sorting through them but that's all they were calling them back then.
    • reallybigname, on 08/29/2008, -0/+3That's exactly what I was thinking about posting. Yeah, this post is crappy after you've seen real HDR renderings. The guy that I saw do this in a video tutorial took pictures of a real chrome sphere in the space where he wanted to place the object. Then, he took pictures of the sphere from both sides and somehow wrapped those images as a spherical lightmap for the model. Awesome, the best lighting ever.

Obviously its photoshoped, its not the point. The game models are in there for a joke / to get a point accross. Yes it is europe, yes the game was modeled after that type of architecture and yes that part of leipzig does look like the game. gg...

    ive been there too, but only the city center (st thomas church), and that part doesnt look much like those pics.
