Rock Band 2 to include EVERY SONG from RB1 as free DLC
kotaku.com — Says IGN 360 editor Nate Ahern: "If you bought Rock Band 1 then chances are you'll feel cheated by the release of RB2. Immediately upon purchasing Rock Band 2 you'll have the ability to download a huge library of songs, as well as all of the songs off of the original disc as a free download."

- mywhitenoise, on 07/06/2008, -68/+9Some of those songs are amazing (Dinosaur Jr., Sonic Youth, Talking Heads, Modest Mouse) but I REALLY wish there was a way to remove some songs through DLC, haha. I'm going to hate to be forced to play Paramore, Panic At The Disco, Linkin Park, Avenged Sevenfold, The Donnas, The Muffs, Motorhead, Dream Theatre, System of a Down, Disturbed, and Lit (....damn, that's a lot of bad music on that list!) to advance in the game.
More importantly, I hope that rumor about the Rock Band 1 songs being free DLC is true.- lalolost, on 07/06/2008, -17/+6Open your ears too all music
- mywhitenoise, on 07/06/2008, -18/+12Dude, I have a broader taste in music than most people. No way in hell am I going to open them up to Paramore, Panic at the Disco, Disturbed, or Linkin Park.
- bigbadgoat, on 07/06/2008, -2/+9As long as you don't have a problem with playing some classic pearl jam.
Ten would be an amazing album for DLC.
- swgc5, on 07/06/2008, -11/+45Dream Theatre does not make bad music.......
- mywhitenoise, on 07/07/2008, -15/+4So I get dugg down for saying bands like Paramore, Panic at the Disco, Linkin Park, and Disturbed suck, and this guy who says Dream Theatre makes good music gets dugg up?
Clearly you guys have no taste.
Oh right! I forgot, you guys were also the ones who gave that Linkin Park video thousands of diggs! I totally forgot about that. Go find some decent music to listen to. - finaldrumgod, on 07/07/2008, -7/+1Dunno who Dream Theatre is, but I like Dream Theater! lol
Oh in case anyone didn't know there is a difference between the two
Theater: A place
Theatre: An art form (such as dancing, musicals, opera, etc.)
Just thought I would share that... :)
It doesn't matter a whole lot anymore, just lost knowledge. - NicUrfe, on 07/07/2008, -0/+3@finaldrumgod
That's a load of hooey.
Theater and theatre mean the same thing, it's just that the latter spelling is more commonly used in Britain. - pandaplaya, on 07/07/2008, -2/+2Dream Theater is amazing. I talked with some guy who works at EA a few months ago and he asked me "If there's any band you could see on Rock Band, who would you want it to be?" Of course, I said Dream Theater, and he mentioned how he knew they were trying to fit them in somehow. So excited...
Although, I would have liked to see a better song, like In The Name Of God or The Glass Prison. Good luck trying to beat those. - Mikecol, on 07/07/2008, -3/+1However, the singing is horrendous!
- mywhitenoise, on 07/07/2008, -15/+4So I get dugg down for saying bands like Paramore, Panic at the Disco, Linkin Park, and Disturbed suck, and this guy who says Dream Theatre makes good music gets dugg up?

- logicalnoise, on 07/06/2008, -6/+3every band you listed had been dominating the request section on HMX's site. get some perspective before you spout off. sevral of those bands I requested myself.
- mywhitenoise, on 07/06/2008, -10/+3That's too bad that 14 year olds dominate the Harmonix site.
I guess I should watch TRL and "get some perspective" on what real music is, since the music I listen to isn't dominating the MTV audience. - logicalnoise, on 07/06/2008, -3/+5dude we're talking about ROCK BAND! a game that gets criticized for promoting older bands like the police, rush, boston, grateful dead and many others. HMX is appealing to everyone and you bitched about them appeasing a few requests for newer meterial. Now I've been loving teh classic stuff as well as some of the newer stuff but HMX knows that music is subjective to everyone and they can't please everybody completely so their just trying to give everyone's requests some attention. BTW I haven't watched MTV in 10 years.

In my opinion, Sonic Youth and Modest Mouse are boring as *****, whereas Dream Theater are ***** amazing, but oh well, who cares? Everyone likes different things, which is no reason to call something you don't like 'bad'.- mywhitenoise, on 07/06/2008, -12/+3That's perfect reason to call something "bad". - ChildeRoland420, on 07/06/2008, -2/+1I really doubt this rumor. Can they release this thing at a decent pricepoint if they have to pay all those royalties again?
I really hope this rumor is either confirmed or denied soon. I really want to buy RB, but I might as well wait for RB2 if this is true.- scooterbaga, on 07/06/2008, -2/+1edit: I fail at commenting in the correct thread...

- finaldrumgod, on 07/07/2008, -4/+8You are the most obnoxious person on the face of the planet. Whenever I open up something I want to read I see a comment from you bashing everything about it and that's all fine and good, it's good to have an opinion, but then you bash the people that disagree with you. Here a couple examples of what I'm talking about (on this small thread alone):
"You're emo, you don't count."
"That's perfect reason to call something "bad". It's called an opinion, you stupid *****."
I really don't understand your premise. Maybe it's just me, but I'd like to hear constructive criticism. Just because you like music that is laid back and simple doesn't mean complex or upbeat music is bad.
I absolutely dread seeing "mywhitenoise" in any comment system, but you've gotten my attention. Not the good kind. I hate you.
Good day.- mywhitenoise, on 07/07/2008, -5/+2"Just because you like music that is laid back and simple doesn't mean complex or upbeat music is bad."
haha, I listen to a ton of music that's upbeat and complex. More than anything I listen to electronic, synth based music. Some of my favorite bands are New Order, Talking Heads, !!!, Nada Surf, Nine Inch Nails, Blur, The Cure, Radiohead, Pavement, ELO, Queens of the Stone Age, Broken Social Scene, Daft Punk, Built to Spill, Faith No More, LCD Soundsystem, among many many others...dude I own close to 500 albums, and then another 400 in digital format.
"it's good to have an opinion, but then you bash the people that disagree with you."
I bash when people bash me...take this one for example (the one you noted, but only showed one side of the argument)
"Learn to respect other people's music tastes, *****."
my response: "That's perfect reason to call something "bad". It's called an opinion, you stupid *****."
You sound like a whiner bitch than I am. - MewTwo, on 07/07/2008, -0/+2Wait, wait, wait a second... let me get this straight.
Are you trying to tell me that Talking Heads is laid back and simple and Linkin Park and Disturbed are complex/upbeat?
As a drummer you should really widen the music research you seem to not be doing.
- mywhitenoise, on 07/07/2008, -5/+2"Just because you like music that is laid back and simple doesn't mean complex or upbeat music is bad."
- smacksaw, on 07/07/2008, -3/+2Actually, Paramore isn't technically music.
- DisturbedOne, on 07/07/2008, -1/+0Holy crap, you have to play through music you don't want to!!!!! OH MY GOD what a horrible thing. Stop whining and saying stupid ****. I am pretty damn sure that people don't like every single song on RB1 and played though them.
- lalolost, on 07/06/2008, -17/+6Open your ears too all music
- JaysonthePirate, on 07/06/2008, -28/+7although convenient, we've played these songs already. i want the 5 pad drumkit!! i want to see people remaking songs with the editor in gh4. who cares about the vocalist anyway. singing isnt all that fun.
- logicalnoise, on 07/06/2008, -6/+8if you actually think the GH4 song creator will be worth a damn I'd ask you to go to any music store and stand in the keyboard section and just listen to people dick around with the keyboards. that's what 99% of what people are going to make with it.
- sg7791, on 07/07/2008, -1/+4I bet I can guess your favorite part of Tony Hawk 4.
- JaysonthePirate, on 07/11/2008, -1/+1i ask you to go buy a copy of amplitude and go online. theres some incredible stuff there. trust me. people can make amazing things with the simplest programs. although the gh4 editor looks to be pretty complicated.
- BrownManUPS, on 07/06/2008, -29/+5That sucks for RB1 owners.
- logicalnoise, on 07/06/2008, -3/+5how so? the only songs they won't get if they don't spring for the RB2 is are the songs on the RB2 disc.
- ChildeRoland420, on 07/06/2008, -6/+1Maybe because the price of RB2 will have to include the royalties on the RB1 songs, meaning that they are paying for them twice when they buy RB2.
- scooterbaga, on 07/06/2008, -4/+2"That sucks" is what I'm thinking. How does this help RB1 owners feel less cheated? If anything it would just rub it in that buying the first one was a bad move.
If it's true, I'm certainly glad I waited. - ChildeRoland420, on 07/07/2008, -0/+2I bought RB1 today after making this comment and am already regretting it. Not because of the possibility of being charged twice for the same songs, but rather the guitar was broken coming out of the box.
- sup34dog, on 07/06/2008, -1/+26not really... this makes me very (and I mean very) happy. Assuming it's true, that is.
I bought two copies of the RB1 special edition: one for my brothers (for christmas) and one for myself, and I don't care if people who only bought RB2 get RB1's songs for free as well. I don't want to have to swap discs to play the songs for the first one. In fact, I never want to have to play RB1 again after RB2 comes out - I just want all of the songs available to play in one game.
I'll even buy the new drum set if it's awesome. - mgyqmb, on 07/06/2008, -0/+9Sucks? They got to play the game, with the full understanding that in the future, there would probably be a sequel for a price that they were willing to pay.
If everyone was willing to 'wait for the next best thing' - we'd never buy anything because they'll always be a better product coming out later.- MaceSoul, on 07/06/2008, -9/+1Then don't go out and buy RB2, make sure you wait for RB3, or 4, or 5,
- kitaljevich, on 07/06/2008, -1/+1grow some eyes.
- kylesellers, on 07/07/2008, -0/+4I'm glad about this, and I own Rock Band 1. I hate having to swap back and forth between Guitar Hero 2, Guitar Hero 3, and Guitar Hero: Aerosmith depending on the songs I want to play.
If I could consolidate all of them and only need 1 disc, that is a good thing, and that seems to be what Rock Band is trying to do. - coyote1284, on 07/08/2008, -0/+1How so? I already have a full controller set for RB1 so I won't have to get another set, I'll just buy the new game. So what if people jumping in at RB2 get the music we already played for free, in the long run, I only spent ~$60 extra.
- logicalnoise, on 07/06/2008, -3/+5how so? the only songs they won't get if they don't spring for the RB2 is are the songs on the RB2 disc.
- fizquierdo87, on 07/06/2008, -22/+7If the DLC thing is true, thats great, but as an owner of Rock Band you kind of have to feel cheated...
- wwwdot1jesdotus, on 07/06/2008, -23/+4Why would you feel cheated? Did you not get exactly what you paid for when you bought RB1? That's like the parable from the bible:
Matthew 20:1-15 "For the kingdom of heaven (or Rock Band 2) is like a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire laborers for his vineyard. 2 "Now when he had agreed with the laborers for a denarius a day, he sent them into his vineyard. 3 "And he went out about the third hour and saw others standing idle in the marketplace, 4 "and said to them, 'You also go into the vineyard, and whatever is right I will give you.' So they went. 5 "Again he went out about the sixth and the ninth hour, and did likewise. 6 "And about the eleventh hour he went out and found others standing idle, and said to them, 'Why have you been standing here idle all day?' 7 "They said to him, 'Because no one hired us.' He said to them, 'You also go into the vineyard, and whatever is right you will receive.' 8 "So when evening had come, the owner of the vineyard said to his steward, 'Call the laborers and give them their wages, beginning with the last to the first.' 9 "And when those came who were hired about the eleventh hour, they each received a denarius. 10 "But when the first came, they supposed that they would receive more; and they likewise received each a denarius. 11 "And when they had received it, they complained against the landowner, 12 "saying, 'These last men have worked only one hour, and you made them equal to us who have borne the burden and the heat of the day.' 13 "But he answered one of them and said, 'Friend, I am doing you no wrong. Did you not agree with me for a denarius? 14 'Take what is yours and go your way. I wish to give to this last man the same as to you. 15 'Is it not lawful for me to do what I wish with my own things? Or is your eye evil because I am good?'- digitaldivinci, on 07/06/2008, -2/+5buried for "The Kingdom of heaven (or Rockband 2)".

- triferlinks, on 07/06/2008, -16/+2just take what you like and save the space. guess i wont be picking up RB for the wii. oh wait? DLC? nevermind.
- xxA7XxaDdiCtxx, on 07/06/2008, -18/+4Ah *****, this isn't good news for the average 360 owner. Imagine the space it would take up on the average 20 gig HD and all of it just for one game. I also don't want to pay $160 for a damn new hard drive.
- Lawrencesss, on 07/06/2008, -8/+3I think its because you don't have friends.
- PhoenixAvatar2, on 07/06/2008, -1/+8You don't download the entire disk, just the songs you want.
- vawksel, on 07/07/2008, -1/+4Each song seems to be around 30 megabytes. Why so big, I have one idea: It should be more like 6 megabytes, but they are separate tracks synced together, so I guess Drums.mp3 + Voice.mp3 + Guitar.mp3 + Bass.mp3 + Background.mp3 = 5x normal size of a song.
So, for 60 songs, that's about 1.8 gigs of your 20 gig hard drive... No big deal if you ask me.- Spudster, on 07/07/2008, -0/+1You're also forgetting that each song has a unique video performance behind it. That's what really adds up the megabytes.
- PhoenixAvatar2, on 07/07/2008, -0/+1That was only with the PS2 and Wii versions. That's why they don't have DLC and customizable characters.
- brainboy77, on 07/06/2008, -33/+3Yeah, I haven't bought RB1, and will not buy RB2 nor GH4 for 2 main reasons: they are too big, they cost a lot, and my friends don't come to my house a lot. if you want to be a rockstar, get a real guitar and drumset. a lot more musical things will be open to you and you won't look like a jackass playing on plastic instruments.
- Lawrencesss, on 07/06/2008, -1/+11If you want to be a car thief, buy a handgun and a slim jim.

- coyote1284, on 07/08/2008, -0/+1I do play guitar AND GH/RB, *****. It is a completely different experience, and I do both just for fun.
- Lawrencesss, on 07/06/2008, -1/+11If you want to be a car thief, buy a handgun and a slim jim.
- sperin4, on 07/06/2008, -2/+72Wow. There is a ton of bitching in these comments.
The free DLC thing is great. Now I won't have to switch back to the first Rock Band when my girlfriend will inevitably want to play I'm So Sick and Flirtin' With Disaster after the sequel comes out. Also, Bob Dylan! And a ton of other classics. Sure, everyone isn't going to like Modest Mouse and everyone isn't going to like Mastodon but HMX seems to have a good balance. It looks like its time for me to begin hunting for a used hard drive though.- Dan11023, on 07/07/2008, -13/+3I call a ***** on this comment......... diggers dont have girlfriends
- jacen, on 07/07/2008, -0/+6Agreed, this is a very strong set list. But still no Beatles! I wonder if Apple (music, not mac) is holding back the master tracks from Harmonix, much like Led Zeppelin is.
- BackEnThaWomb, on 07/07/2008, -0/+3This is why I love Harmonix. They know that they can't please everyone, but they sure as hell try to.
- tallguyg, on 07/07/2008, -0/+1wow. my girlfriend loves singing those songs too. what is it about those songs that makes them love them?
- Falsey, on 07/07/2008, -0/+2Hell, Rock Band 1 still isn't ***** out here in Australia, so this is awesome if true.
No need to buy RB1.
- Newedge14, on 07/06/2008, -11/+3The way I could see this happening is if you had Rock Band 1 and then once you bought 2 there was an option to import RB1 songs off of the disc to download on your console, this way you don't have to pay for royalties again and it makes it so only those with RB1 can play the songs they already own.
- ChildeRoland420, on 07/07/2008, -0/+2What's to keep someone from renting/borrowing the first disk?
- ChildeRoland420, on 07/07/2008, -0/+2What's to keep someone from renting/borrowing the first disk?
- FalseProphecy, on 07/06/2008, -6/+45What the premise is, is "if you bought Rock Band 1..."
It's not going to be free for anyone who's just purchasing Rock Band 2 and didn't buy the first one. That's WHY you'd feel cheated, and that's WHY that statement was given. To CORRECT the thought that people would get all the RB1 songs even if they didn't buy the game.
And I'm sure that the price of all the songs is going to be near the price of the original game disc, plus you'd have to go through Microsoft's or Sony's proprietary (read: retarded) point system in order to buy them. It's still worth it to buy the first game if you haven't, especially if it's on sale.- mywhitenoise, on 07/06/2008, -4/+38There's no point system for Sony.
- FalseProphecy, on 07/06/2008, -3/+24Whoops, my bad. I was thinking of Nintendo's Wii Points, or whatever they have.
- DarknessGP, on 07/07/2008, -1/+18There is a point system for Sony. It's called local currency... because they understand that people don't want to have to do funny math to buy stuff.
- doshindude, on 07/07/2008, -6/+1@ FalseProphecy
How is the Wii Points system retarded? It's the most comprehensible out of any of the current-gen console "points" systems (100 Wii points=$1.00USD). If you want to talk retarded, let's talk about Microsoft Points, where they freakin' tax you. - Zalyster, on 07/07/2008, -0/+7@doshindude
100 Wii points = $1.00 USD still makes less sense then just using actual currency on Sony's.
- sselbor, on 07/07/2008, -2/+7How is that going to work? Why couldn't people just borrow RB1 to get the free DLC and buy only RB2?
- mywhitenoise, on 07/06/2008, -4/+38There's no point system for Sony.

- logicalnoise, on 07/06/2008, -6/+1the stand alone disc version will be 59.99 just like any other game release. and if the special edition is more it'll be because the instruments will be of higher quality but I doubt they'll stray from teh 179.99 original price. maybe they'll match GH4's 199.99 at most.
- Opelious, on 07/06/2008, -2/+147Guys, this is NOT accurate. This is from one of the 360 editors for IGN posting on the Insider boards when a forum member asked about that specific line:

This story is claiming that the RB1 in RB2 is very real after all:
"Still, according to Harmonix, online World Tour wasn't the number-one feature requested by Rock Band fans. That distinction goes to "backward compatibility"--ensuring that all of the hundreds of songs that were found in the original Rock Band and available as DLC since its release will work seamlessly once the sequel rolls in. In that sense it's mission accomplished, because the game will feature full support for all of the original Rock Band songs, all of the downloadable content, and, naturally, the more than 80 songs that will be packed in with the disc version of Rock Band 2."

- hoowahman, on 07/06/2008, -5/+4Can't you people just be happy that you will get all those songs. TONS OF SONGS. I have bought almost every song for RB1 and really you can just look at it as paying to get the songs earlier than the people that have to wait to get it for free after buying another game. You can think positive I know you can. In fact we made it possible for these extra songs to be created by funding it.
- ZimbuTheMonkey, on 07/06/2008, -1/+13Some people are just petty. Why the ***** would RB1 owners feel "cheated"? We bought the game and got full use and enjoyment out of the product. At the time, you paid for the product knowing full well what was to be included. It is irrelevant that RB2 features all the RB1 songs for free.
Simple and unwarranted case of buyer's remorse. - ch4os1337, on 07/06/2008, -2/+4God damn it! I bought RB1 and sombody stole the Disk.(and my orange box) :'-(

- PullingTeeth, on 07/06/2008, -1/+5Nothing like a Digg article related to music to ignite the worst of diggers
- Dan11023, on 07/06/2008, -12/+6SWEET! I JUST SAVED MYSELF $170! I was gonna go buy this sometime this week.........
THANK YOU DIGG!!!!!
EDIT: More like $60 - stinger666, on 07/06/2008, -3/+7I wish I didn't buy RB1. Oh well, at least it made me want to play a real instrument. I'm a real drummer now!
- SuperIntendo, on 07/06/2008, -1/+2As am I!
I always wanted to play drums before but the first rock band gave me the motivation :D - cmsjustin, on 07/07/2008, -1/+8I'm a real fake guitar button pusher!
- LookAnOwl, on 07/07/2008, -8/+2These music games are so stupid. Why would you sit around and play fake instruments all day when you could just go play the real th... oh... I'll go away now.
- SuperIntendo, on 07/06/2008, -1/+2As am I!
- BrainsVolpe, on 07/06/2008, -2/+5I nearly ***** a brick when I saw Silversun Pickups on that rumored list.
They're my favorite band; if "Lazy Eye" is on the disk (likely as a bonus tour song), I hope their other songs get released as DLC later.- BrainsVolpe, on 07/06/2008, -1/+1Ah, ha. I didn't even see the last grouping of songs at the end marked as bonus tour.
- pixelatedsoul, on 07/07/2008, -0/+1I saw them live a couple months ago. They tore the roof off the dump. I can't wait to play that. Hopefully it's true,.
- Dylson, on 07/06/2008, -8/+3***** ME!

- nonsomniac, on 07/06/2008, -0/+20The RB1 song list as DLC has since been debunked. Everyone knows Nate is an idiot. Hillary posted a retraction on the Rock Band forums already.
- Dan11023, on 07/06/2008, -2/+2Link or it didnt happen
- Gimjee, on 07/06/2008, -0/+2It's better just to buy the game instead of the whole set all over again.
- MewTwo, on 07/06/2008, -0/+1But the instruments are improved, someone said.
- DarknessGP, on 07/07/2008, -1/+1and? Why do I need to buy a new mic? I hope they release a pack with just the game and guitar. Cause, I really only need another guitar, and honestly how much improved are they? Doubtful it would be enough to warrant replacing all my RB1 instruments.
- ChildeRoland420, on 07/07/2008, -0/+2Hopefully they're improved enough that they don't come broken out of the box. (Like the RB that I bought yesterday)
- MewTwo, on 07/06/2008, -0/+1But the instruments are improved, someone said.
- thecosmicpope, on 07/06/2008, -3/+2The battle of Rock Band v Guitar Hero (and anyone else who joins the party) will be won when one of them developes a system where you feed it an MP3 and the game makes it playable.
Not possible at the moment, sure. But it will be one day.- Typhoon2009, on 07/06/2008, -0/+7No... the battle will be won when one of them creates hardware that works 100% fine with the other game. If they think I want two drumsets in my house they're ***** out of their minds
- DarknessGP, on 07/07/2008, -0/+4Well, that will never happen because Activision is full of itself.
So, Rock Band wins? I mean I already have a full RB set, and that is one of the key reasons I'm not getting GH:WT. That and GH3 showed me how they butchered the great game that was GH1&2 - Typhoon2009, on 07/07/2008, -0/+1My dog destroyed my RB drum's cable. Strike 1 for Activision being ***** bitches about their hardware, and strike .5 for Harmonix not making the equipment wireless.
- DarknessGP, on 07/07/2008, -0/+4Well, that will never happen because Activision is full of itself.
- TheInimitable, on 07/06/2008, -1/+5Not possible. Ever.
- doshindude, on 07/07/2008, -0/+2First of all, that will NEVER happen for two reasons: licensing/copyright hell, and it's just ***** impossible to isolate all that stuff out of an MP3 file, why else do you think they get master tracks to make these games? If you want a game where you use MP3s to generate your gameplay, download Audiosurf for 10 bucks from Steam.
- thecosmicpope, on 07/07/2008, -2/+1Perhaps I was wrong in using the term MP3 then, because in the future you won't need to isolate all of the parts out of the file at all. .MT9 can already do it for you.
http://digg.com/tech_news/New_MP3_Revolutionizes_W ...
Whilst Audiosurf is fun, it really isn't the same thing sitting at your PC moving a mouse compared to standing up with a plastic fisher price squeaky guitar and hammering out a solo.

- SuperIntendo, on 07/06/2008, -1/+5If it seriously has E-Pro by Beck, I don't care how much it costs, they've got my sale.
- Goldbricker, on 07/06/2008, -0/+4This is the kind of ***** that needs to be ENCOURAGED in game companies. Not bitched about because you're disgruntled that someone might get a little something that you didn't.
- DarknessGP, on 07/07/2008, -1/+1yea, I can't understand any of the complaining. They are complaining because the company wants to make the core of the game available to the sequel. You mean I don't have to swap discs? And let me tell you, had they not been making current DLC and instruments compatible, the tubes would be set on fire with complaining.
Also, it was an IGN editor, so can't really trust his info. But I think it would make more sense if they gave you the RB1 songs free if you verify that you own the game, probably via a disc check or something.

- LittleDas, on 07/06/2008, -0/+10Buried as inaccurate since the rumor was completely unfounded and just an IGN editor pulling ***** out his ass. Nothing more to say.
- jkopacz, on 07/06/2008, -0/+3if this is true, its awesome!
i bought RB1 and have had fun with it for a long time now so i dont feel cheated anyone that didnt buy RB1 would get it in RB2. theyre "old" songs now but having the ability to play them in RB2 without having to swap disks = awesome! - Darkswarm, on 07/06/2008, -0/+4Being an owner of Rock Band 1, I actually would love the free DLC story to be true so I could just switch to Rock Band 2. Nevertheless, this is just a rumor and should not be posted as a fact, so I buried this story as inaccurate.
- badboys213, on 07/06/2008, -1/+4hellz yea, they have Modest Mouse, which excites me enough to replace an 's' with a 'z' in "hellz yea"
- Typhoon2009, on 07/06/2008, -1/+3Holy *****.
- Zdax, on 07/06/2008, -2/+4I peed.
- mcool119, on 07/06/2008, -5/+4Cool, now here's hoping they fix the easily breakable instruments and shoddy guitar gameplay. After playing GH3 ,Rock Band guitar really sucks.
- fzammetti, on 07/07/2008, -3/+1Definitely agree, guitar isn't too fun in RB... only one song gave me any significant trouble on Expert (High Tides and Green Grass), so the difficulty isn't too fun when you get to the point of playing everything on Expert without too much trouble, and it seems to "miss" a lot of notes when playing a full band. No, it's not calibration, and no it's not shoddy equipment because it works perfectly in GH3 and no, it's not me because when I play solo I can play most songs damned near flawlessly, it's only when it's a full band that all of a sudden it seems to not be as accurate.
- doshindude, on 07/07/2008, -1/+3I'm sorry, but that statement is just dead wrong. GH3's guitar sucked, the gameplay was horribly broken and the notecharts were a huge eyesore. Rock Band's guitar (when it works) and gameplay is the epitome of how these games should be made. I have a perfect working Fender Stratocaster controller and two defective RedOctane guitars (my Xplorer's strumbar can't handle fast strumming and my Les Paul had a broken motion sensor and select button out of the box, not to mention it randomly lets go of held notes in-game, despite RO's "great" history at making hardware, I have to say Harmonix/EA make better instruments, but that's just me. GH3's guitar gameplay is not better, harder notecharts!=better, it made the game quite disappointing for me, as I got many more cramps playing GH3 than RB.
- Icecold54, on 07/07/2008, -1/+1I haven't played RB1 much but i have played it. I did notice that most songs are pie in comparison to GH3. The one thing that really bothers me is that there is no indication of the hammer-on notes on RB1 (i may be wrong, as i just haven't found them yet, so please inform me if otherwise) . Also, GH3 feels easier to hit notes for some reason :S, but i do enjoy GH3 when it comes down to playing solo.
- erichapkido, on 07/07/2008, -0/+3The hammer on notes are slightly smaller than regular notes. Once you see it it's pretty easy to tell the difference and when.
- knifesideleft, on 07/07/2008, -1/+2Oh god RB guitars are the biggest piece of ***** that walked this earth. Me and a few friends finally beat ttfaf over the last few months but for some reason when we play RB we do considerably worse. The strum bar blows, I mean the click is a bit annoying on guitar hero but on RB it feels like I'm strumming some piece of broken plastic. It feels good to hear the click and know the strums being registered. The buttons are ***** too. Out of 5 rockband/guitar hero the ***** RB buttons always start sticking for some reason and I have to open and clean the thing. It doesn't even feel as good cause the buttons dont feel as well defined. The damn distortion switch is always in the way. And the charts feel simplified. I'm sorry but when you are good at playing on expert the easy ass guitar tracks doesn't cut it anymore, the only thing you want to do is play drums now. I'm sorry but for people that are really into just guitar GH still blows it out of the water definitively.
- StrikerObi, on 07/07/2008, -1/+5Already been proven as "speculation". Buried for inaccuracy.
- shondell, on 07/07/2008, -7/+2Bob Dylan, Norman Greenbaum, Journey, Fleetwood Mac, ALLMAN BROTHERS, STEVE ***** MILLER BAND, THE ***** GUESS WHO, THE WHO!!!! The best music ever was written in the 60s and 70s and it looks like RB2 has got some of those songs! ***** YEAH!
- bagboyrebel, on 07/07/2008, -3/+4I really hope that track list is accurate, some of the music looks pretty good. Also, I'm glad to see a ska band on there (mighty mighty bosstones).
- bagboyrebel, on 07/07/2008, -4/+1seriously, this is why I stopped commenting for a while, can anyone give me one good reason for why I was burried?
- benman587, on 07/07/2008, -0/+4You were buried by one person... calm down
- bagboyrebel, on 07/07/2008, -2/+1I know, It's just that I came back from a while of being away and it just reminded me of why I stopped coming in the first place. It just makes it harder to actually discuss anything when perfectly legitimate comments get burried.
- bagboyrebel, on 07/07/2008, -4/+1seriously, this is why I stopped commenting for a while, can anyone give me one good reason for why I was burried?
- dmackay14, on 07/07/2008, -4/+2I think i got eye cancer from reading these comments.
- sarchosis, on 07/07/2008, -0/+7It's a rumor. . . probably going to be more like an option to install the RB1 songs onto your HD so you can play them through RB2.
- cmsjustin, on 07/07/2008, -1/+2Yay!
- doshindude, on 07/07/2008, -0/+1It's feasible, as all of the RB1 songs combined would only take up about 5GB on your HD (Each song is 100MB max, from what I've seen in the DLC files).
- solid12345, on 07/07/2008, -0/+2Oh good god people, so should I bitch at Capcom because every Street Fighter sequel added in more characters but kept the old ones and I should feel cheated for buying the 1st version?
- sup34dog, on 07/07/2008, -1/+1It wouldn't all fit on a single DVD if they did it that way.
Plus, it's all speculation at this point. I suggest that you go ahead and enjoy Rock Band. I know I am.
- sup34dog, on 07/07/2008, -1/+1It wouldn't all fit on a single DVD if they did it that way.
- JoeB4ever, on 07/07/2008, -0/+3damn, no Tool on the leaked track list....yet
- Pirate207, on 07/07/2008, -0/+1Guitar Hero: World Tour is rumored to have Tool.
- Jaydo, on 07/07/2008, -1/+2Go smoke pot.
- AparoidX, on 07/07/2008, -0/+0It's better than having to switch discs all the time when you want to play a certain song. On top of that, you can pick which songs you want to keep. Who's complaining? (I bought RB1, btw)
...*****' BATTERY! - Pirate207, on 07/07/2008, -0/+4As nitpicky as this may be I'm not so sure about the first "leaked" song list
the AFI song is actually called Girl's Not Grey, now people make mistakes, but it could just be a made up list easily...- boydrew, on 07/07/2008, -0/+1I was just about to post this. That was the first thing i noticed on the page. I like that song.... Beck's E-Pro makes me happy too
- dhVyse, on 07/07/2008, -0/+2They just got my money.
