Teen Movies Coming to Videogame
variety.com — Paramount is getting "Clueless," hanging with the "Mean Girls" and looking "Pretty in Pink" for its first slate of videogames. The studio is co-publishing casual games based on those three pics from its library for release later this year. It's splitting production costs with partner Legacy Interactive.

- darkchild82, on 07/22/2008, -0/+41DS right? Please tell me they're not wasting money to make 360 & PS3 versions.
- zen53, on 07/22/2008, -0/+13I'm sure microsoft & sony's marketing dept will pick up these titles to make their consoles more family orientated!
- Audacitor, on 07/23/2008, -4/+1Real gamers use PCs.
- Ashkc88, on 07/23/2008, -0/+3Real gamers use what they're more comfortable with.
- rpgmaker, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1Yeah, that's why most games are released for the PC months after the console version, right?
- eyefork2, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1Real gamers own more than one platform to avoid such cesspools of fanboyism.
- xboxrant, on 07/22/2008, -0/+35Yippy more crap. As if movie games aren't bad enough.
- media2me, on 07/22/2008, -0/+21No way they can't be serious. There is no way that these would make any sort of game. It's like they really believe girls and women can't play the video games out there or can't be interested in games unless they do stuff like this.
- Kanten, on 07/23/2008, -0/+3Maybe you'll fight dinosaurs like the Home Improvement game.
- media2me, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1That was a game? They have lost it.
- bcstereotype, on 07/23/2008, -0/+2I didn't even know this existed - thanks youtube! ;D
- Kanten, on 07/23/2008, -0/+3Maybe you'll fight dinosaurs like the Home Improvement game.
- nneader007, on 07/22/2008, -0/+11Yeah. Great Move for video games. NOT!
- jchemtob, on 07/22/2008, -2/+4Where are the movies for dudes?
- seanshady, on 07/23/2008, -2/+5Well lets be honest, video games are for dudes. For every three chick movie video games they have 500 terrible games based on guy movies.
- clutcher, on 07/23/2008, -0/+2Seriously, Wouldn't it be cool if they made a guy game where you do all these missions to get the girl and when you beat the game you get to have sex with her? and they show it.
pixels jiggling...- Kanten, on 07/23/2008, -0/+2Mass Effect?
- ScionX, on 07/23/2008, -0/+2plumbers dont wear ties
- exomni, on 07/23/2008, -1/+1No such game would ever exist. No game developer allows AO games on their consoles. Unless you mean a computer game, then maybe (probably already).
- otros, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2Probably already?
Oh my! I guess digg is full of twelve years old. Larry anyone?
Or I'm just missing the /s?

- louiebaur, on 07/22/2008, -0/+6Wow this is great I cannot wait as a matter of fact I am going to hold my breath!
- Haoie, on 07/23/2008, -0/+8If they can make a Desperate Housewives video game, the sky's the limit.
Or rather, the bottom of the barrel. - eduren, on 07/23/2008, -1/+28Please don't. The only good Movie to Videogame was Goldeneye.
- AwesomeMonster, on 07/23/2008, -1/+8or riddick.
- 3sicasity, on 07/23/2008, -3/+4or return of the king
- JessicaSarahS, on 07/23/2008, -0/+2My thoughts exactly. I wasted so many years playing Goldeneye and I loved every minute of it :D The movie to video game or video game to movie thing just does not work. I do not see why people keep trying to force it to work.
- eyefork2, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1I'm still dreaming of a HL2 movie that doesn't suck
- Elliottx, on 07/23/2008, -0/+20Brb, goin to kill myself.

- eyefork2, on 07/24/2008, -0/+3Brb, goin to get my zombie survival kit.
- minnymoo, on 07/23/2008, -0/+5thinking about it, a Ferris Bueller's Day Off video game wouldn't be SO terrible.
nah, nevermind.- bytor4232, on 07/23/2008, -0/+3Only if all characters are playable. I'd love to be the "Professional" in Ferris! Varooom!
- LavaWarrior, on 07/23/2008, -0/+121) crappy movies
2) crappy games
3) ?????
profit or teens killing themselves? - GetSmartGal, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1All I am going to say is that chicks shop more, pay more for what they buy, hence spend more money then you guys. If you are in a recession hit the demographic that will spend the cash. Come on guys if game developers make more money selling to chicks it means they have more money to spend making newer and cooler "dude" games. It's all good!
- AsadM, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1Oh, of course! The economic charts only apply to males! How could I forget!

- sbaysem, on 07/23/2008, -1/+0what is HAPPENING to the gaming world??!!
- theNazz, on 07/23/2008, -1/+5I read that the developers had to remove the "put baby in a corner" mini-game from the Dirty Dancing video game.
Apparently, nobody puts baby in a corner... - AzzidReign, on 07/23/2008, -2/+2Lindsay Lohan is a lesbian...
hehehehehhehehe - Smiley09, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1How does someone get funding for this?...and what developer and/or publisher would think that this is a good idea...?
- gogog0, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1ugh.. although i would love to see a Brick videogame done in the style of Bully

- digidiggs, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1oh great, had to put up with watching girly films now the games toooo!! OMG girl power is taking over
- djpray2k, on 07/23/2008, -0/+4Don't want them - don't buy them
But rubbish still sells to a certain group of gamers which means publishers will still put out rubbish games.
I mean you can either splash £10m (random number) on years of development on an epic title or buy a brand like has happened here, slap some Wii/Ds friendly interface on it and your're laughing. - haentz, on 07/23/2008, -0/+6Is this "variety.com" website something like the new Onion?
- bcstereotype, on 07/23/2008, -0/+3Imagine if it did come to the PS3/360 and the trophies/achievements that could follow:
Clueless: "Stuck around": You've played this game longer than Alicia Silversone's career lasted- digiframes, on 07/23/2008, -0/+2Just like her career, I'm should the game won't last either...
- Sexboy2K, on 07/23/2008, -3/+0what a waste of money no guy will play the game and girls dont really play video games much.
- JoEBlack982, on 07/23/2008, -0/+2The Breakfast Club would make a great Adventure Game. Or Tactical Shooter.
- Zippo, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1Oh yeah, these are going to be high-quality blockbusters.
- Antalos, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1I can't wait for the L Word game
- stonebone4, on 07/23/2008, -0/+3Ten bucks says every single one goes to Wii.
- Manguskahn, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1Well, now Yahtzee will have plenty of ***** games to compare stuff to.
- NeoCortex, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1So are they doing Porky's next? That should would be interesting.
- Xette, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1Most definitely they believe they're doing it to attract the girly girl audience. But agreed with media2me, I'm a chick and I love games just the way they are.
On the other hand, I think the article is a bit of bs... atleast I don't want to believe it. >. - ChinezePanda, on 07/23/2008, -0/+2In Mean Girls... can I kill Lindsay Lohan?
If I can kill Lindsay or any one of these chicks.. except that hot one from Wedding Crashers.. I'm buying a copy. - lameboy, on 07/23/2008, -0/+0Hey, didn't anyone play Sprung? That game was awesome! My girl and I shared hours of cozy nights curled up with a DS and a notebook and a copy of Sprung!
[Walks away in shame.] - Andrwmorph, on 07/23/2008, -1/+1ALL MY DREAMS HAVE BEEN ANSWERED!
- JessicaSarahS, on 07/23/2008, -0/+4I think a Desperate Housewives game exists out there somewhere.... how profitable was that game? I'm assuming, not very. It was a game that had too narrow of a focus, only fans of the show would understand the story (if any), and the characters would only appeal to the fans, which were primarily older women. I'm sure the same thing would happen with this game attempt.
Developers should just make good quality games that don't "talk down" or lower themselves to try and appeal to what they believe women want. There are already great games out there that do not dress themselves up in pink and flaunt themselves to capture women's attention, Portal, Guitar Hero, Mario Kart, etc. They do not have to market themselves as "girl entertainment". Even the Sims wasn't marketed as such, even though it is predominantly a female oriented game. The more these developers push girl-specific games, the more they're going to ostracize both men and actual female gamers and create a backlash against it. And the more likely people will keep saying these girl-oriented games are not "real" games. Then the cycle of games supposedly not appealing to women would begin again.
I know, I know, tl;dr. -_-, but all these articles about grrrrl gamers, games for girls, etc., are really beginning to annoy me. - finkist, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1I think they're targeting the Hannah Montana crowd, i.e. preteens, not grown women.
- soundgoddess, on 07/24/2008, -0/+0I know which one is next! Legally blond!
- soundgoddess, on 07/24/2008, -0/+0I know which one is next Legally Blond! Oh wait that one is MGM... who cares?
