The top 10 Most Wanted Games 2007
bit-tech.net — Top 10 list of games, centred mainly around PC, didn't agree with some of their choices but cool list nonetheless.
- 1056 diggs
- digg it
- Paroparo, on 10/12/2007, -30/+46Where are all the Nintendo games? New Mario, Metroid and Super Smash Bros coming out next year, but these guys don't seem to care. All the games on the list are interesting, or at least I recognize they're interesting to a lot of people, but those aren't exactly the top ten all around.
You can't really say "top ten wanted games" and include PC gaming anyway, since it's a comparatively small phenomenon compared to console gaming. Seriously, there are many times fewer PC gamers than console gamers out there. Of course that's probably not the case on digg... =P- walkingdogs, on 10/12/2007, -4/+58Not only the Wii titles but what about UT2007 or Alan Wake or Spore!
- bigz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Alan Wake is 2008
- FalseProphecy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+23"New Mario, Metroid and Super Smash Bros coming out next year"
This year. - whiskeymb, on 10/12/2007, -7/+17without seeing Spore or Supreme Commander on this list I have to disagree with him. These two games will be huge and redefine their genres. C&C3? I haven't seen or heard anything about this that makes it sound good besides the graphics. Which, from what I've seen, look more distracting then anything else. Plus, you gotta wonder about a game that has so many hollywooders in it, anybody remember the drab game that Wing Commander 3 was?!
- profOblivion, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9@beachbabe22
You're back? So that makes account number... what, 7? 8? More? Man, after yesterday I thought you'd died horrible, gruesome death or something. Ah well, one can only hope. - sion2119, on 10/12/2007, -10/+5This list is garbage, just someone's "opinion" of top ten wanted games. Not actually top ten wanted game...*marked as lame*
for instance, I don't care for that pirate game... - kcpwnsgman, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7"Top 10 list of games, centered mainly around PC"
- hypnotizd, on 10/12/2007, -4/+37No Spore? No digg.
- ivachen, on 10/12/2007, -7/+3I call BS that project H.A.M.M.E.R does not make the list... I mean, that's what the wiimote is for right?
- wingnut21, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5"Alan Wake is 2008"
Goddamnit. I guess Remedy caught whatever disease 3D Realms has. - Atom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18 wtf kind of ***** list leaves off spore?!? Are you kidding me?
- ahawks, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Not only are the Wii titles missing (and as other pointed out, Spore, and many others)... but the author is so ignorant to the reader's perspective that the games' platforms aren't even mentioned.
Sure, some of those looked mildly amusing, but I've pretty much sworn off buying a PS3. However, I do like to follow the struggle (if you can call it that so far) between the 360 and PS3, and I'd like to know which of these games were strengthening each side. - kendals, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1You got some numbers to back up that statement?
- canti32, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14Did anyone else notice that they used a fake GTA 4 screenshot from a couple of months ago?
- thelastknowngod, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14WTF?!? What about Duke Nukem Forever?!?
- jrefenes, on 10/12/2007, -1/+27Excuse me?!
"......and include PC gaming anyway, since it's a comparatively small phenomenon compared to console gaming"
I can think of about 8 million subscribers to World of Warcraft that would beg to differ calling PC gaming a "small phenomenon" - Drahkar, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Yea, this list is a joke. Its completely biased and has little basis in the actual draw for the new year. The fact that it doesn't list Spore, one of the most awaited games of the new year and it lists a couple games that I have not heard even a mild peep of, I'd have to say that its more of a personal opinion site that a reasonable 'Top Ten List'.
I really need to make my own site so I can start making realistic lists based on reader poles.
Marked inaccurate for obvious and glaring biased choices and the complete lack of several highly anticipated games that are obviously higher on the list than games like 'Pirates of the Burning Sea'. - docdoak, on 10/12/2007, -7/+5GTA IV behind Halo 3 and at number six? That is a disgrace.
No one has any idea what to expect from GTA IV...that is why it is so anticipated. What will Rockstar do? No one knows. We all know it will be revolutionary, though.
Buried for lame... - Pile, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4What a crock.. Hello? Spore... marked as inaccurate
- mkokes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well though it is an expansion, I'm sure there's a couple people out there that have World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade on their list of things to buy in the next 6 days.
- radixus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6I don't get it . . . just because the list doesn't include a specific game you're interested you instantly mark the article as lame?
You can't get a world average of the top 10 most wanted game, the best you can do is either provide your opinion or opinions of a small handful of the public. Personally the list is pretty good. If you really look at it the top two games are pretty much the most wanted games. They are two games the industry has been buzzing about for the past year or two. I'm of course talking about Project Offset and Crysis - two LANDMARK games that will change the industry. They deserve to be on the list then anything Nintendo can release as well as Spore.
So just because it doesn't have your favorite game, doesn't mean it can't be a valid list. - Managore, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Who the hell is churning out all these top # lists of games? Though clearly some of those games deserve to be on that list, there are a lot of people waiting for Spore and Supreme Commander, more than for most of the games on that list. People need to learn to either personalize a title with "My top 10..." or don't make assumptions that most people will disagree with.
- SimonDonkers, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2First person shooter: 1, 2, 4, 5, 9 and 10
Real time strategy game: 3
Roll playing game: 7 and 8
Come on, I would really have hoped that some innovation would show up and that there's more to life the FPS games. 4 out of 5 most wanted games are an FPS? This seems far to much like the author's preferred games rather then most wanted games.
(yes, some of these categories are disputable) - NinjaBoy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yeah i was expecting sprore to be #2. Crysis was obvious #1 choice.
- KingMoses, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Has Spore even had a release date announced? It might not come out in 2007.
- Managore, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2As far as PC games go at least, I think the following would be part of any list of most wanted or most anticipated,
Spore
Crysis
Supreme Commander
Burning Crusades
but I don't know, I hear that "Pirates of the Burning Sea" has a *way* bigger following then, say, WoW, or Spore, or SupCom/TA. Well, assuming each of the aforementioned games has a following of _less than three people_. - mfratt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1A few of those games actually look pretty decent, and although I am no big gamer, I might have to plunge into a few.
Personally, the only things I'm waiting for in 07 are GTA IV, GnR Chinese Democracy, and Rush's new album. - skankyBacon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"This list is garbage, just someone's "opinion" of top ten wanted games. Not actually top ten wanted game...*marked as lame*"
What else would you expect? When you're talking about the most wanted video games, it goes without saying that you're going to be in the realm of subjectivity. - themastersb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2In order to want most new games I need a new graphics card :(
- tafkase7en, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Where is Assassins Creed and God of War 2? This list sucks.
- mrwiggl3s, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Worst list ever
- Alegis, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4"Did anyone else notice that they used a fake GTA 4 screenshot from a couple of months ago?"
Yep. Lost all credibility for me.
And wtf is left 4 dead. "It's quite possible that you haven't heard about this game yet"
Then it ain't a most wanted game.
Bad list, buried. - PSPon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I hate clicking next
- ryandeean, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8The Microsoft guy said at CES today that there were 200 million PC gamers compared to less than half of that for consoles. Don't know whether that is true.
- Paroparo, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7Well maybe if you count people who've ever played Minesweeper or Solitaire, but hardly if you measure it by people who buy games, or even pirates. I can't say I have any reliable statistics for you on gamers (someone please correct me if you do), but the list of best-selling games ever indicates console games sell *a lot* more, which means to me that there are more people who play them.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best_selling_computer_and_video_games
Aside from a few extremely popular games (The Sims, Half-Life, Starcraft, WoW) they tend not go over the 4 million mark, while several games beat that amount on all three systems last generation. Mind you, these are the best selling PC games of all time compared to just a single generation of consoles, where two of the three competitors sold just about as few units as is possible without the entire being a failure.
The funny thing is that the best seller in recent years, aside from the non-gamer games of the Sims franchise, is WoW, one of the relatively few games out there that is extremely pirate-proof due to its multiplayer nature. Guess it shows piracy really does hurt sales, eh? =P - drjekelmrhyde, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4That can be true look at Korea Consoles dont fair well there even the mighty DS
- superheroboy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Anyone who has lived or visited outside the US can see how popular internet cafes are for their multiplayer gaming. I would think the 200 million number is conservative.
- Stevethegreat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Never forget how much money game developing companies pump from the hardware industry. If titles themselves are the main resource of money for console developers then PC hardware is the one for the top of the line PC games developers (which actually hurts the small developers in the PC industry, they run quite of a risk). But don't -ever- believe that EA for example makes more money from the consoles, Battlefield 1942's advertisements alone gave the company as much money as a successful console run. Hardcore gamers buy both the hardware AND the game, when talking for PCs, even if they're pirates they will pay the hardware from which a great premium goes to top of the live PC gaming companies, things are quite more balanced than you may think
- SimonDonkers, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Microsoft sold 10.4 million 360's if I remember right. According to http://www.mmorpgchart.com/ World of Warcraft is over 6.5 million subscribers alone.
PC's are a far bigger medium then consoles. PC's also have far more copyright issues and consoles usually attract more hardcore players who pay more for games more often but PC's is still a huge but often overlooked market. - endersadvocate, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"consoles usually attract more hardcore players who pay more for games"
i hope your joking
talk about disillusioned - autocrawler, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"PC's are a far bigger medium then consoles. PC's also have far more copyright issues and consoles usually attract more hardcore players who pay more for games more often but PC's is still a huge but often overlooked market."
The PC gaming consists of two polar opposites: Casual gamers, who just want some entertainment on their home/office computers and
Hardcore gamers, who are, like me, going for the best gaming experience possible in terms of visuals and controls et cetera regardless of cost and convenience. Combined with lack of ease of use compared to consoles, it is the PCs which attract the hardcore crowd. Console gamers are not hardcore, they are somewhere in the middle between casual and hardcore.
Also, to note: console games are just about $10 more expensive than their PC counterparts, so err...the difference isn't that huge.
- Paroparo, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7Well maybe if you count people who've ever played Minesweeper or Solitaire, but hardly if you measure it by people who buy games, or even pirates. - DrummerSi, on 10/12/2007, -2/+45This list is *****! Where's SPORE!?
- entertainer, on 10/12/2007, -13/+2Spore is for little kiddies.
- Daveoh, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2Spore is not for little kiddies, it is for people with creativity and imagination.
Anyway, it was hyped up too much and now everyone has forgot about it. - FuzzyBunny, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Yeah this is a pretty poor list. MGS4 and Dragon Age are extremely unlikely to make it in 2007. Some VERY notable exceptions missing from the list are Spore, Mass Effect, Assassins Creed, and Supreme Commander. I find their exceptions all the more notable since I have never even heard of Left for Dead, Project Offset, or Pirates of the Burning Sea.
- Stevethegreat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3You never heard of Project Offset? It is a very famous underground game, it currently holds a great deal of innovation in graphics. It can easily better than any game currently announce included Crysis. It's the first which promised to deliver large scale with cinematic graphics, I 'm looking forward to it, but sadly -as it seems- it's 2008 title.
- lax767, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16UT2K7 is where on that list? It looks a lot better than that pirate game, ARRRGGHHH
- Fascist, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I've always had a soft spot in my heart for extreme fragging sports.
- lustre, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Yes, me too. I find myself incredibly bored with anything that isn't really rapid paced and carries the risk of being blown up. UT has always been a favorite. It actually gets the adrenaline flowing.
- Daveoh, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Yeah, UT2K7 should definitely be there.
- yournamehere, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1wasnt a demo suppose to be released by now?
- Misanthrope, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19It's all "amazing graphics" type games. Every single one. This is a list of the best graphics of 2007, without a doubt.
- ilyag, on 10/12/2007, -6/+4Why don't people like you understand that good graphics does not mean that the game will suck? More often than not, graphics contribute to the experience by providing more depth in the game's interactive environment.
Look at Alan Wake. Nobody knows what the game is actually like to play. All anybody knows is that it takes place in an incredibly realistic-looking environment. And this is what people are most excited about for this game -- the ability to explore this environment.
By the way, I have a question for you: how many games with mind-blowingly amazing graphics have actually been really awful? List them, please. I want to know which specific experiences in your gaming life have created your hatred of immersing, photo-realistic graphics. - Coffeedemon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5@ilyag
I'll start... Unreal 2.
I like nice graphics but that game was a very weak "FPS by numbers". - edge10, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5How about Doom 3. Great graphics, when you could see them but repetitive game play.
- omatsei, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5@ilyag: Actually, I know quite a bit about Alan Wake. It's based on a novelist named Alan Wake, who suffers from insomnia (hence the name Alan, which means he's "A. Wake"). He goes to vacation in Oregon somewhere, just off the Pacific coast, and that's when his insomnia really kicks in... He starts seeing *****, and not remembering how he got to places, etc. In the end, it looks like a psychological thriller on par with the nightmare sequences of Max Payne, but not a FPS.
- ilyag, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1omatsei:
Thanks for describing the story of the game, but it's something I already know. What I said was that nobody knows what the game is actually like to PLAY. In other words, we know about the graphics and, yes, we know about the storyline. But we know nothing about the gameplay.
Hell, we don't even know if you use weapons in the game, or if it's a role-playing adventure where you have an item inventory. We know nothing about any of this. - smitting, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Is it just me, or do all of these games looks like interactive cinema rather than games? I don't see any games on this list that I can pick up and play for 15 minutes.
- ilyag, on 10/12/2007, -6/+4Why don't people like you understand that good graphics does not mean that the game will suck? More often than not, graphics contribute to the experience by providing more depth in the game's interactive environment.
- CraigB12, on 10/12/2007, -20/+3I don't see how HALO 3 isn't number 1, its going to be the highest grossing game in video game history.
- EXreaction, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I don't know if I agree with you.
Personally I would put Halo 3 at the top of my list, but even still, it is impossible. With only about 10,000,000 Xbox 360's it couldn't even be the best selling game if every 360 owner bought the game(not to say Halo 3 won't make quite a few people buy a 360, but still, I doubt it can even get near The Sims as far as sales go. - Daveoh, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Because Microsoft doesn't rule everything.
- EXreaction, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I don't know if I agree with you.
- otheruser, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9NO SPORE, NO THANK YOU.
- DJFMA, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8I can't believe Mass Effect isn't on there.
- NoTiG, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Where is quake wars enemy territory, and ut 2007 ?
- noclips, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Exactly. Those are the only 2 games I am definitely buying this year. Spore is a possibility. Yet none are on the list, buried
- Shawnosaurus, on 10/12/2007, -9/+1I'm calling "ass suck" on this list. It's really missed the mark in several regards. I've never heard of their site and apparently they have never heard of half the games we have.
- pathy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Bit-Tech is a *very* good site. It's also very well known, especially among PC Gamers/Hardware enthusiasts. It isn't a group of little nublets.
See, the problem with these lists are - There are a LOT of games ready for 2007 right now. It's a bit difficult to make them cross platform, because there are just so many awesome games planned to come out.
For me, the first is going to hit close to my birthday - STALKER... Mmmm... - runeasgar, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2Actually.. they are very obviously 'nublets' not interested in the games, but in the graphics, based on your comment and their list.
It has NO diversity AT ALL. A good 'site' about gaming isn't going to restrict itself to one realm of gaming.
- pathy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Bit-Tech is a *very* good site. It's also very well known, especially among PC Gamers/Hardware enthusiasts. It isn't a group of little nublets.
- drjekelmrhyde, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Where's Leisure Suit Larry ;-)
- GenVoss, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16Duke Nukem Forever didn't make the list?
- SlabbaJabba, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That is scheduled for 2009.
- RRGunn, on 10/12/2007, -11/+0LOL @ HALO 3 NUMBER 5!!!!
oh man, thats funny.
LEFT 4 DEAD is going to be better? what a joke!
especially because it says "most WANTED games",,,, GTA and HALO 3 should be 1 and 2 ... then super smash even...
and i laughed at this comment for the #1 game... : from the same developers who brought us Far Cry (still probably the second best FPS of all time)
AHAHA
whoever made this is a tool- Daveoh, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I only agree with that comment... personally I put FarCry down at the bottom of my favourite FPSs (and I don't believe anyone thinks it's anywhere near 2nd best FPS EVER)
- afpunk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What are you two talking about? Farcry was fantastic, and if it wasn't for Half-Life 2 being released that same year, it would have been the FPS of the year. (Yeah, I know Halo 2 was released the same year, as well as Doom 3). It was the first FPS with enemy AI that actually made sense, had beautiful graphics, and more OH F&*K moments than any game I've ever played, even to this date (including FEAR, RE 4, etc.--I play a lot of games). The only, and I mean only, downfall of that game was the console style checkpoint system which made some of the difficult sequences needlessly frustrating. I'm floored that people who claim to enjoy FPSs could dislike this game so much.
- TheTap, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3This list is suspect.
While it's not a complete game per-se, WoW's Burning Crusade is gonna have huge numbers. The existing installed user base is 8 million. There are already reports of stores opening at 12:01am next week for the release. Is anyone gonna do that for Halo3?- GilesGuz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Are you on drugs? Halo 2 marks the first time many went out to 12:01am releases and undoubtedly Halo 3 will be the same.
- dopelogic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5What about Assassins Creed?
- AgentBorrelli, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Yeah, all i have to say is SPORE . . .
- bootz52, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What is the name of the song in the beginning of the Project Offset YouTube trailer??? Any one of you diggers know??
- skankyBacon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2According to the end credits, both pieces were by Enya, from the Lord of the Rings soundtrack.
The Council of Elrond and Lothlorien
- skankyBacon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2According to the end credits, both pieces were by Enya, from the Lord of the Rings soundtrack.
- skymt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6If Far Cry is the second-best FPS of all time, I must have just been dreaming about Half-Life 1&2 and the Marathon Trilogy.
- afpunk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Of course, at the time of its release, Half-Life wasn't just the best FPS of all time, it was the best game of all time. And if you were judging games at the time of their release, it would probably be a push between HL1 & 2 for best FPS of all time. However, as of today I simply can't put Half-life 1 at the number 2 spot. For what its worth, my top 5 single player FPSs of all time (judging by the amount of fun they would be to pick up and play today) would be:
Half-Life 2
Farcry
FEAR
Half-Life 1
Doom 1
Yeah, I'm missing some titles there that some will be mad about (notably both Halo games and the Quake series) but this is just my opinion. Other games with FPS elements but normally classified as other genres (RPG and strategy, respectfully) that could make this list are Deus Ex and Battlezone.
That's way more than I had to say, but my point is that considering Farcry the second best FPS as of right now is not that far of a stretch
- afpunk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Of course, at the time of its release, Half-Life wasn't just the best FPS of all time, it was the best game of all time. - runeasgar, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1That's a horrible list.. it has no diversity at all.
Throw in Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, Super Smash Bros. Brawl or something..- Coffeedemon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Diversity? Not sure you know what that word means. You only listed Nintendo games.
- ethon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15Add another to the list: Half-Life 2: Episode Two?
- Kickersny, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Agreed. Half-Life 2: Episode 2 / Portal / Team Fortress 2 are on the top of my list.
- Spetz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I don't even want HL2 Ep2, I just want portal! Although I think you have to buy Ep 2 to get Portal. :/
- vdog, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Portal has me more excited than Ep2, but I can't wait to get my hands on both.
- MadOgre, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'm waiting for that HP Lovecraft game to come out on PC.
I'm waiting for an Undying 2 as well... loving the FPS Horror game genre. Anything that makes me have to turn off the computer and walk away because it was too damn freaky - I love that. - Kink, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2GTAIV should be way higher than sixth. I know loads of people who just can't wait for it to launch in October.

2: Project Offset
1: Crysis
Buried as inaccurate- autocrawler, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3All the "top ten" lists are pure personal opinions, I simply can't see how and why can one mark them as "inaccurate" due to this. If all the top ten awaited lists would exactly match the "top ten most hyped" lists, there'd be no point in making them. :P
- XISUPERMANIX, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2If GTA IV is set in europe I won't even think about trying it, gay music/gay accents can it get any worse? Music will probably suck if it were set in Japan but they will probably have better cars, a better map. One of the things I loved about San Andreas was the fact you can go into buildings and have different types of fun like the old arcade games or blackjack, poker etc. There would be plenty of things to do in Japan but in europe you could probably just walk into some building and drink tea.
- dyzlexiK, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6L4D is by turtleneck studios? This has to be the least researched article ever. My top 10:
10: Duke Nukem Forever ( :) )
9: Super Mario Galaxy
8: C&C3
7: HL: Episode 2
6: Crysis
5: Ut2007
4: Spore
3: Super Smash Bros Melee
2: WoW: Burning Crusade
1: Halo 3- Jetpac, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Not my top 10.
But much better that the articles piece of crap attempt of a list by a factor of 100 - SeriouslyButNo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Melee's already out. :)
- modarius, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I think you meant Brawl ;D
- dyzlexiK, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1No, I meant Melee. Thats how good the game actually is ;)
Yeah, I did mean brawl. Oops. - docdoak, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1No GTA IV? You are an idiot.
- randomguy0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"No GTA IV? You are an idiot."
It's his opinion. Not everyone likes GTA jackass.
- Jetpac, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Not my top 10.
- Jeveran, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Considering the quality of the writing in the article, and the myriad complaints about the content in comments above, I suspect the list was compiled by the author googling the names of each of the games and counting websites mentioning the titles.
IMO, Spore belongs in the number one spot. Of all the games mentioned both in the article and on this page, it is the game that has gotten the most intense scrutiny, and generated the most excitement amongst industry professionals at events like the Game Developers Conference. - KHCloud, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Left 4 Dead? What in the world is left 4 dead?
Seriously where is Spore, Assassin's Creed, Lair, Mario Galaxy, Smash Bros Brawl? - phenom2k7, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Another poor list of games.
- ophilye, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3regardless of whether the list is crap or not.. the games are at least worth the attention. Crysis is absolutely beautiful. I doubt it will look that beautiful for most of us, but the screenshots are worth mentioning (saying a lot from a girl that usually prefers Viva Pinata-looking things). That's the closest to realistic I have seen yet.
And Left 4 Dead is going to be more fun long-term. who doesn't like the idea of being a zombie if you can't be one of the main killers with your friends? I personally am looking forward to finding my husband (who inevitably gets the good position) and eating his brains.
Bioshock everyone has looked forward to for months. I swear I saw that being advertised last year at this time. I dont' think it will live up to the hype. - Thezeppelin62, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Crysis looks freakin sweet
- steven401, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Only just heard about Project Offset, looks decent.
- mygen, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1No Burning Crusade?
Rubbish!- TheTap, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I am in full agreement with you on this. We'll know for sure in a few weeks but Burning Crusade is gonna have huge numbers and the pre-release anticipation is beyond fever pitch.
- fullphaser, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1As with a previous poster, I was surprised when I didn't see DNF on the list
- LeftistPersona, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Raiden will be in MGS4. Dumbass.
"Set after Metal Gear Solid 2 (thankfully no sign of the long haired pansy Raiden)."- scallon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3And there will be exclamation marks. They were reinstated for nostalgic reasons. The MGS4 info is seriously out of date.
- weslobombs, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2no wii games?
lame geeky *****. no digg- Wytefang, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1Might be a clue there for you about how strong the Wii's line-up is right now and in the future. Other than Mario (yawn) and Metroid Prime: Corruption (cool), there's not much else coming that makes the Wii look even remotely like being worth buying, imho. All the Nintendo fanboys are going to be crying over their Wii's in a year when they're bored of the only 3-4 decent games that the system has. Gimmicks are like that, they start out huge and then fade pretty quickly.
- Rimrose, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I must say this list isn't very good. Why is Halo 3 so far down the list? And what is up with that pretty pitiful looking Pirate game? But I must say, Project Offset looks pretty yummy. Especially if it is released on the 360 or PS3! Crysis also looks amazing, tho doesn't look like my type of game. Also, where are all of the Mario games? No Smash Bros. Melee?
- mymidgetfriend, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Do we really need to limit our lists to "Top 10"?
How about a "All the games we're looking forward to in 2007" list
The games in the list all look promising, but as diggers have pointed out there are tons of high and low profile games missing. - Overmind12812, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2Dude...why the PC bias? There are at least 10 times more Xbox360's than people with PC's that play a lot of games; games like Halo 3 will sell way more copies than the best selling PC games this year. Furthermore...WTF?! No Spore!? If your going to create a bias that puts the PC games at the top of this year's most wanted list then at least include the game the is on everyone's most wanted list - Spore. Bury this poor excuse for a list of the "most wanted PC games"...according to a PC Fanboy.
- Stevethegreat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Maybe but I really doubt if it will measure up with a PC FPS like Crysis, or Project Offset or even STALKER. Console controller always takes away half the magic of a shooter
- Wytefang, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3To Overmind12812: Well you don't do much to make yourself sound like an even-minded gamer yourself. There are WAY more gaming PCs out there (that can play the majority of current and upcoming games at least on lower resolutions) than there are X360s. Do some research and then come back when you know something. Digged down for stupidity.
- dftz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1wow Project Offset is amazing...
- Planar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hello? What happened to Spore? I know everyones been waiting for that.
- KragTheDigger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Indeed, I have to say I expected UT2K7 to be mentioned (and everybody's favourite 'most expected' game by now: Spore).... where's Duke Nuk'em anyway ? :)
~K - fotodevil, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1It bears repeating, but this list is useless without Assassin's Creed. AC is perhaps the most impressive looking game I have ever seen. Once I heard it would be coming out for the 360, I decided to give Microsoft some of my money. Spore has serious potential, but I question the possibility of it coming out this year.
- subject117, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Uhhh...are we forgetting Spore and Supreme Commander????
- Canthros, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I'm not really sure if I'm excited about _any_ of these games. I've never been able to muster any real enthusiasm for the MGS games, Sim-anything, or the western-style RPG (matters of taste), and I'm pretty burned out on FPS gameplay for its own sake (I enjoyed HL2, but that had more to do with the story than shooter gameplay). I might play RTS games if I didn't suck so badly at them, and I haven't been interested in GTA ... ever, actually. (Just a note on Halo 3: I thought that Halo was a nice, refined and polished, if almost completely pedestrian, example of the FPS genre. I've never been interested enough in it to purchase an X-Box for any of the sequels. Glad you guys like it, but I'd prefer to have a good sequel to Tribes 2.)
Project Offset and Crysis look really, really impressive. I might even buy one or the other. I'm not really convinced I would enjoy either, assuming they'll even run on my machine. Left4Dead might be fun if any of my far-flung friends can manage any interest. Bioshock might be worth a shot, too. However, I doubt I'll buy Left4Dead at the bog-standard $50 new-PC-game price tag, and I'll have to see reviews on Bioshock before I decide to bother.- Wytefang, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3In response to Canthros's comments about not playing RTS games because he 'sucks at them' -
I'm confused why people woudl be afraid to play a game that they might 'suck at'. So what if you suck? Playing games is about having fun and trying new things, not necessarily having to be 'great' at them. If people had to be 'good' at every game or genre in order to play that genre, there wouldn't be a whole of games being played, that's for certain. That whole mindset never made a lot of sense to me. On a sidenote, PC games have generally always cost $50. Occasionally you'll find a cheaper game like when UT2K4 came out in DVD format for only $30(!) but generally speaking there's nothing new about a PC game costing $50 (which is still a good $10 cheaper than any next-gen console game's cost, I might add). - Canthros, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I don't enjoy losing. I especially don't enjoy losing by grotesque margins, as I tend to do in, e.g., Starcraft. _I do not find constant frustration enjoyable._ It is not an exciting challenge for me. It is not 'fun'. It is a pain in the ass, and I don't enjoy it. There are plenty of games and game genres that I *do* enjoy, or find to be a reasonable return on my time. Hell, I've played UT2k7. Thought it was nicely done, if derivative. I've played BF2. Thought it was a dog of a piece of software and the online play only so-so. I've even played a few RTS games, and I know that I just don't care enough to worry about making sure that I get the build order right to the second. (I enjoy 2D fighters now and then, too, but not enough to bother with most of them: I simply can't be bothered to worry about individual frames of animation.) There are more profitable places for me to spend my free time, and so I do.
No, there's nothing new about PC games costing $50 when new. That doesn't mean I think that it's a good price for every game, and I tend to purchase games when they get to a price point I find acceptable.
I'm sorry you fail at empathy. In the future, please spare me the indignity of being a soapbox for your navel-gazing philosophy of videogames. - Wytefang, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I suppose if you hadn't posted a somewhat bizarre comment, implying that PC games costing $50 was a new thing, we might have been spared having to post our 'navel-gazing' views on computer gaming. ::: shrug :::
- Wytefang, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3In response to Canthros's comments about not playing RTS games because he 'sucks at them' -
- seneyr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Decent list. Project Offset makes the list, but no Spore? Isn't Offset being done by a very very small team?
- sypher85, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Project Offset really amazed me the most, its the first time iv seen anything about this game
