Why Video Games and Movies Don't Mix
doubleviking.com — We’ve all been there: the scenes in the movie where there ’s some fantastic martial arts/gunplay/car chase/insert-theme-of- manliness-here, and we know, as Hollywood does, that it would be cool to relive the best moments in an interactive fashion... but only if the result didn’t always suck.

Also, the Godfather game was pretty damn good.- B1663r, on 04/24/2008, -0/+3Well if you are gonna use Goldeneye, can I use Godfather??? Because Godfather is in an entirely different realm than Goldeneye...
- jmpeagle, on 04/24/2008, -1/+8that is a video game based on a movie, not a movie based on a video game...but I dug you anyways b/c goldeneye rocks
- unicronband, on 04/24/2008, -0/+3I should have read parent comment more carefully. But no, I can't think of any good video game -> movie adaptations.

that pretty much counts.- Corrosionx, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1Everyone else who wants to make a movie out of a game needs to take a long hard look at Advent Children to see how to do it.
- bagboyrebel, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1except advent children was terrible. It was one big fight scene with next to no story.
- Murdats, on 04/25/2008, -0/+1@bagboyrebel
and thats how you do it. - Corrosionx, on 04/29/2008, -0/+1Granted the story wasn't excellent, but I think as a first try as a Final Fantasy japanese-made CGI, it was excellent. Next time an epic story wouldn't hurt.

- EWcom, on 04/24/2008, -5/+10This is a good article - some games have so much potential to be good movies, and it always gets blown.
- sterntastic223, on 04/24/2008, -4/+2batman for NES is the classic example
- macweirdo42, on 04/24/2008, -0/+3WTF is wrong with you? Batman for the NES was a freakin' masterpiece.
- mattyice11, on 04/24/2008, -0/+4What do you think are some games that would make good movies? I honestly can't think of one.
The bar for what makes a good game storyline is so much lower than the bar for what makes a good movie storyline. People mention games like Bioshock and Metal Gear as games with great story...I really like those games and enjoy the stories, but if I were to compare them to movies that I think have great stories it wouldn't even be close.
I love games. I love games with interesting stories. But anyone who thinks that games are on par with film as far as storytelling goes is nuts.- sterntastic223, on 04/24/2008, -0/+2it's different kinds of storytelling. any game that would tell as linear a story as a movie wouldn't be any good. the best bet is to have a game with a great setting and run with it
- petebot, on 04/24/2008, -0/+12KOTOR
- Crosshare, on 04/24/2008, -1/+1KOTOR would make a better movie than episodes I-III combined. Too bad most Star Wars geeks already know the twist.
- TheUngod, on 04/24/2008, -0/+2Final Fantasy...almost any of them. Most games by Atlus (digital devil saga, persona, odin sphere). I'd say most games with decent character development can become good movies, if given the right twists.
- electrichead, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1The Legacy of Kain and Soul Reaver series have one of the best storylines that could be translated to an anime/live action movie. But I still hope that they don't! There is no way they could keep the feel of the game.
- cygnus2112, on 04/24/2008, -0/+2God of War, maybe. Prince of Persia. Starcraft.
- Matteos, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1Mass Effect might work... Half Life (1 and 2).
- ZeRux, on 04/24/2008, -1/+1Each movie based on a video game will inevitably suck for as long as directors make them to please video game audience (by focusing on action, special effects and as little talk as possible) instead of trying to please movie audience (by focusing on dialogues and storytelling). Even games wil great storyline are bound to become disasters because of this mistake.
- BattleChimp, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1The article isn't really about "why video games and movies dont mix", its more about how hollywood blows and ruins the things we love.

- Dundasbro, on 04/25/2008, -0/+1I quite enjoy Alien Vs. Predator 2, actually. The ability to be a facesucker, burst of the humans chest run away for awhile evolve into a killing machine that walks on walls and can tear apart others without even thinking about it is quite fun, even if the game is a bit dated.

- LegendaryHitman, on 04/25/2008, -0/+1EWJ, Freakazoid were bloody classic, also add Animaniacs, Pinky & the Brain (which I'm surprised they haven't tried to do as a movie), and Tiny Toons...

Take it as a challenge movie-makers... Do it!- SuperVepr308, on 04/24/2008, -0/+5It was one of the (if not the best) story I have seen in a game. I was just thinking of how the sound of the Big Daddy's coming toward you with the rumble on made me almost sweat. Definitely best single-player experience I have had.
- surKaz, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1Exactly.. Thrust that into the hands of a Movie-buff who says games can't be as good as movies..
- surKaz, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1Exactly.. Thrust that into the hands of a Movie-buff who says games can't be as good as movies..

- SuperVepr308, on 04/24/2008, -0/+5It was one of the (if not the best) story I have seen in a game. I was just thinking of how the sound of the Big Daddy's coming toward you with the rumble on made me almost sweat. Definitely best single-player experience I have had.
- SuperVepr308, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1I guess one problem is the protagonist is usually alone and that turns people off the movie. DooM was like that and we all saw that result...Bioshock was fanatastic and a Big Daddy would be awesome on screen but I lay odds they would ***** it all up.
- evilninjax, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1Of the filmmakers out there, wouldn't Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy, Pan's Labyrinth) be perfect? He's already denied any interest, but said that if the project were interesting and offered to him, he might consider it. THAT could possibly set the standard for success (HALO not so much).
- SuperVepr308, on 04/28/2008, -0/+1del Toro rocks. I loved The Devil's Backbone. He sold me right there.
- mentallyinhell, on 04/24/2008, -1/+5Now I really want to see a Big Daddy...
- Cowgodx, on 04/24/2008, -1/+24I hear Boll wanted to make the world of warcraft movie...scary indeed
- azAZ09, on 04/24/2008, -0/+5That may be the move that revives the PC gaming industry--like a fire that revives the forest by killing a part of it. Imagine if everyone who played WOW was depressed, disenchanted, and looking for the next game. Lots of new PC game customers return to the economy.
- TheUngod, on 04/24/2008, -0/+4They already have one. It's called "World of Whorecraft." Chances are it's better than something that would come out of Hollywood.
- ikarimaru, on 04/24/2008, -0/+3I suppose his casting included Mr. T, William Shatner, and Verne Troyer?
- Kajarago, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1Yeah, I heard that too...I also heard Blizz said they would not let anyone, especially Uwe Boll, do a movie of WoW.

- drmangrum, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1Blizzard is smart enough to find a director that doesn't suck balls. There's no way they would let someone like that assclown kill their main cash cow.

- zephyr42, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1I am *so* glad he's not doing anything with Max Payne, loved the games, they better not ***** up the movie.
- typicalusername, on 04/24/2008, -4/+21I actually did enjoy Spirits Within, but it was more of an animated movie and I don't count it as a "video game" movie. As far as "understanding what the hell was going on", the author must be as dumb as a box of rocks, because that movie was easy to follow.

- BoneheadFarker, on 04/24/2008, -0/+7Uwe Boll really is THAT talented...

- meghalc, on 04/24/2008, -4/+1I think Unreal Tournament would kick ass as a movie lol OH maybe they can hire ROCK as the main guy?
- galeninjapan, on 04/24/2008, -1/+261. Video games are interactive
2. Movies are Passive
The audience is doing completely different things in movies and video games. Example, The Mario games are really fun but completely mindless and made a terrible movie.
Citizen Kane is brilliant but would make a ***** ***** video game.- ikarimaru, on 04/24/2008, -0/+10Just as long as it has a flashback sledding simulator.
- leerayIG88, on 04/24/2008, -6/+1Your ass is passive when a ***** is thrusting into you. :-P
- ExSlashdotter, on 04/24/2008, -3/+3As much as i've hated pretty much every videogame -> movie adaptation, i still think a well made Metal Gear movie would be awesome.
Thank god they killed the Halo movie. That just couldnt have gone well...- Crosshare, on 04/24/2008, -0/+6If you did some research into the way the Halo movie was going before the execs got their dirty hands on it, it was going to be awesome. See: Peter Jackson & Alive in Joburg
- xXMetalJesusXx, on 04/24/2008, -2/+1I'm with you....Peter Jackson has done nothing but ruin projects since Dead Alive. Suing the producers for LOTR, making King Kong a failure both narratively, and financially...not to mention continueously being the reason for a lot of the delays around the making of The Hobbit.
Until a PROPER team gets assembled to tackle Halo: The Movie...leave it where it is...
- Zihuatanejo, on 04/24/2008, -3/+2Video Games + Movies = ERROR PAGE DOESN'T LOAD

- jerrolds, on 04/24/2008, -7/+8FF: Advent Children was pretty good I thought, the fight sequences were amazing
- deaftly, on 04/24/2008, -2/+9The story was ***** crazy
- SSCrow, on 04/24/2008, -3/+3Good action, Stupid Story.
- punkcat, on 04/24/2008, -3/+5by good do u mean it had nothing to do with the games and was bat ***** crazy?
- SketchaMPM, on 04/24/2008, -1/+3It had everything to do with the games, but it was confusing as hell if you weren't familiar with FF7's already mind-boggling plot.
- JoshuaLowe, on 04/24/2008, -2/+3Games typically lack any real plot depth or character development. And they often don't require it to be considered good - see Gears of War, Doom, GTA, or pretty much any hit series. And yes, that includes Zelda games, fanbois. Good films often hinge on plot depth and character development. So bringing the two together is pretty much an impossibility without making changes so drastic that you'd barely recognize a good film based on any given game.
And this is probably why the Halo film project has struggled, even with Peter Jackson's involvement. Or the Metroid film that John Woo was supposed to do.
Bioshock is a watered down version of Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugged", by the way.- surKaz, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1True.. Not every movie (or many movies) is/are going to be a good candidate for a game and vice versa.
However, there are some games that would make a great movie and vice versa.
"Atlas Shrugged".. looooooong book... And really deep.. - psykiv, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1Digg me down, but I agree. As much as I loved Zelda, there just wasn't really any plot development. Can someone tell me what exactly the storyline of twilight princess was? For example, with OoT ganon was mentioned from the beginning. In TP it really felt more like ganon was just thrown in at the end. There was pretty much no character development at all. Tell me, how many times did you go back to Ordon Village, or the Goron Mountains, or Zora's Domain, or the Frozen Mountains (whose name I can't even remember right now)? For the most part, once you were done with the stage, you never went back to it, with the exception of maybe Kakariko village.
I don't know. To me the plot of the game was: get master sword. find ganon. kill him.- YellowSnowDemon, on 04/24/2008, -1/+1Majora's Mask!
- surKaz, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1True.. Not every movie (or many movies) is/are going to be a good candidate for a game and vice versa.

- ikarimaru, on 04/24/2008, -2/+5I'm certainly glad he didn't bring Silent Hill into this. I actually thought Silent Hill was decent, minus the unnecessary Sean Bean parts and the "tell all" ending. I'd like them to make another one, but maybe with a little more competent editing/writing.
- ZergyPoo, on 04/24/2008, -1/+2I actually thought Silent Hill was horrible. It was the first movie I've walked out of in a long, long time.
- dangerdooms, on 04/24/2008, -0/+0I basically knew going into the theatre I was paying 8 dollars just to see the scene with Pyramid Head. That and the fact that they shot the cliff scene with the cross in the background in my town. It's called the Devil's Punchbowl for some odd reason.
- leerayIG88, on 04/24/2008, -0/+2Why would you walk out? You payed to see the movie....what a waste of money.
- ZergyPoo, on 04/24/2008, -1/+2I actually thought Silent Hill was horrible. It was the first movie I've walked out of in a long, long time.
- adwarereport, on 04/24/2008, -1/+12Beautiful Katamari ... the movie!!
- macweirdo42, on 04/24/2008, -0/+2I don't see why the hate on movie tie-in video games. I mean, yes, they often stink, but there are some real gems out there... Goldeneye, Aladdin, Lion King, Batman (NES)... And more recently, though it wasn't perfect, it wasn't half-bad, you have Spiderman 2... Granted, I realize that this list represents the exceptions in the movie-to-video-game world, but the exceptions really are great games. Certainly, the same could not be said in terms of video-games-to-movies.
- designerutah, on 04/24/2008, -0/+2Truth is though, the best "movie" games are those where the designers focused on delivering a great game and used the universe of the movie to base it on. Also, the best "game" movies are those where the director used the game universe and basic storyline, but went through the effort of actually developing a real story and some plot and character development. Otherwise, most move/game combos bite on one side or the other.
- Ironage, on 04/24/2008, -0/+0http://www.petitiononline.com/RRH53888/petition.ht ...
LEAVE MOVIES ALONE!!! - mavrick45, on 04/24/2008, -0/+2Trust the mushroom
Trust The Mushroom! - detales, on 04/24/2008, -0/+9There's nothing inherent about videogames that prevent the story or characters from being interpreted into the film medium. Videogames tell stories differently than movies, just like comics and novels. You have to find a way to take the best elements of any source material and weave it into a film.
The problem is that Uwe Boll has a monopoly on videogame movies and until that black plague of a film director is dead, there is no hope. But I guarantee you that if, say, Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight) got a hold of Half-Life or Bioshock, we'll see a good videogame movie. - DrunkenSavior, on 04/24/2008, -0/+2THERE'S A BLOODRAYNE II!? :(
- whatthefu, on 04/24/2008, -1/+5Hitman could've been a great movie. Unfortunately they blew it completely.
- Twisted871, on 04/24/2008, -0/+2I stopped watching when that stupid sword fight started.
- LeePeyton, on 04/24/2008, -0/+2i think it could have been worse. but it could have been awesome.
- FlipSpiceland, on 04/24/2008, -0/+20Perhaps you're right, but I'm pretty sure Street Fighter: The Movie: The Game: The Movie would be a hit.
- Crosshare, on 04/24/2008, -1/+5Epic Combo
- bluerei, on 04/24/2008, -1/+0Although, they did do the game based of the movie based off the game.
- serif69, on 04/24/2008, -0/+2Nothing gets by you
- Logomatrix, on 04/24/2008, -4/+0warcraft, if done correctly, would be awesome, it has a story, a mmo and books.
- trubbleshute, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1The problem with a warcraft movie is that it would be another lordchroniclesofthegoldenringscompass.
- KaivenTor, on 04/24/2008, -1/+4Uwe Boll is just plain one of the worst directors EVER. Please, please stop giving him franchises to kill off. I'm still waiting for a decent BloodRayne movie with Nazis. Final Fantasy actually amended it's ways, so I wouldn't necesarily put it on the "Don't make anymore" list. Wing Commander could have been much better, I dare Hollywood to make a kick ass sequal. Super Mario Brothers was... Different. Not the most impressive film, but the concepts presented weren't altogether That bad. Now, if we could pry Boll's clammy hands off it, the House of The Dead property could be used for a neat zombie movie, but that's a long shot. Not too much hope for Alone in the Dark, but hey, you never know. Hollywood just needs to stop giving work to horrible directors and find some people that are actually worthy to these films and they might actually start turning out some halfway decent stuff.
- jedinate, on 04/24/2008, -5/+13The Tomb Raider movies are not about to win any Oscars, but I enjoyed them and didn't spend the whole time cringing at how bad they were. They get my vote for an adaptation done right.
- sp4rob, on 04/25/2008, -1/+0Agreed...For mindless entertainment, they are some of the better adaptations. Of course with enough money and Angelina, anything looks good
- duk0r, on 04/24/2008, -0/+9Good article.
I think Half-Life the move would be a kick ass action thriller... If done right, pfft fat chance.- LEPT0N, on 04/24/2008, -0/+2I actually think it would be pretty good. As someone stated already, movies are passive experiences, and since the main character in Half Life is pretty passive to the story going on around him (i mean come on, he never speaks), it would probably adapt pretty well to the big screen.
- mistergoomba, on 04/24/2008, -1/+8Am I in the minority by loving Super Mario Brothers?!
- serif69, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1The Super Show was way better.

Do the Mario!

Just like that - bagboyrebel, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1Even if it wasn't anything like the game, I actually really enjoyed that movie.
- serif69, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1The Super Show was way better.
- Jsmuli2, on 04/24/2008, -4/+2I loved Enter the Matrix. You got to move in bullet time, it just doesn't get cooler than that! Plus it was actually part of the movie.
- Crosshare, on 04/24/2008, -1/+4Umm... did you play Max Payne? But I do think Enter the Matrix gets more crap than it deserves.

- Crosshare, on 04/24/2008, -1/+4Umm... did you play Max Payne? But I do think Enter the Matrix gets more crap than it deserves.
- danqueca, on 04/24/2008, -1/+7I have actually enjoyed every Resident Evil movie, not great, but enjoyable movies, the same with Silent Hill. I agree, it all depends on the director and the material that the game gives them to work from.
- whitezombie420, on 04/24/2008, -0/+16i'll probably get buried here but.....
why does everyone bag on the mario bros movie, i mean sure it was nothing like the game, but it wasnt a bad movie. i have definitely seen worse. plus it has dennis hopper in it, that guy can save ANY movie. except for land of the dead anyway.
the first mortal kombat movie was decent too. hell, more than decent. the second one was horrible, but the first was good.- punkcat, on 04/24/2008, -0/+6have u seen any of them as an adult now?
- whitezombie420, on 04/24/2008, -0/+2hahaha
actually i downloaded and watched mario bros last year and i still thought it was good. i cant say ive seen mortal kombat as an adult. but now im gonna have to go download it. :)
- whitezombie420, on 04/24/2008, -0/+2hahaha
- SniperZ, on 04/24/2008, -0/+8Yeah Mortal Kombat was pretty good, even to this day I dont mind watching it.
- bluerei, on 04/24/2008, -1/+0Reasons it sucked:
Bob Hoskins
John Leguizamo
Koopa was a human with horns
There was nothing about the mushroom kingdom that made me want to be there.
Lame jump boots
Yoshi was a retarded looking mini-raptor
Koopa Troopers
There is more to hate on.- whitezombie420, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1dennis hopper with horns is scarier than koopa
you're not supposed to WANT to be in the mushroom kingdom, thats the point, it was taken over by koopa. everyone there hates it because he ***** it up
jump boots are just a power up, each game has different power ups, the only constants are the flower and the shroom. do you hate mario 3 because mario uses a jump boot power up in that game?
leguizamo is funny sometimes
yoshi was a weak charachter in the games anyway, i always avoided using him as much as i could.
ok, so the koopa troopers lacked shells and therefore looked different, so?
i guess all i missed was hoskins, i dont know much about him, but he was a good mario.- bluerei, on 04/25/2008, -0/+0The whole point is this movie was the most horrible representation of the game, which is why it sucked so much
- whitezombie420, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1dennis hopper with horns is scarier than koopa
- punkcat, on 04/24/2008, -0/+6have u seen any of them as an adult now?
- lotar732, on 04/24/2008, -0/+5I broke 3 controllers beating Ninja Gaiden on Master Ninja.
I don't think I'll ever mentally recover mentally. That "game" was so intense, I honestly am contemplating not getting Ninja Gaiden 2 for the possible heart attack that may follow when I'm getting railed by .- SSCrow, on 04/24/2008, -0/+2But Ninja Gaiden is so much fun on Master Ninja.
- Meatball01, on 04/24/2008, -2/+12Good Video Game to Movies - Mortal Kombat
Good Movie to Video Games - Goldeneye, The Warriors, Riddick
Looks like the movie makers fault to me.- TorontoJays, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1Completely forgot about escape from butcher bay. It was far more enjoyable then the Reddick movie.
- ZenMojo, on 04/24/2008, -0/+2It's the fault of producers, plain and simple. They get their hands on a popular property, they tack down the cheapest writer they can get, they draw a director from a hat, and they immediately take over the project with their "creative insight," which basically involves telling people what not to put in the movie without worrying whether or not the movie was a good idea in the first place (see: Mario Brothers).
- electrichead, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1Riddick the game was nothing like the movie though ... maybe that's why it was so good?
- trdrstv, on 04/24/2008, -0/+0Good Video Game to Movies - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Street_Fighter_II:_Th ...
It was actually pretty good if you get the chance.
- debuffplx, on 04/24/2008, -5/+3Mortal Kombat was pure badass. The whole experience was great - the soundtrack, Scorpions into, sonya's tittays and napalm death playing while Goro ***** ***** up.
- SSCrow, on 04/24/2008, -3/+2*****. Final Fantasy Spirits within is a Fantastic Movie. The story and characters are wonderfully thought out and well executed.
You just have to get past the awkward CG medium. That movie is gets ragged on too much for the wrong reasons. - crodragn, on 04/24/2008, -1/+2I thought Super Mario Brothers wasn't that bad a film. I suspect that the reason Chris rags on it so badly is because it owes more of it's inspiration to Alice in Wonderland than it does to the actual Super Mario Brothers game. To me, adherence to the source material isn't nearly so important as if the movie itself is good or not.
- SketchaMPM, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1I agree with your point, but the bottom line is that the movie itself was bad. VERY bad.
- wraithscelus, on 04/24/2008, -1/+1Legacy of Kain: Defiance would make a kick ass movie. I'd see it even if it were bad...
- modex, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1http://duggmirror.com
- OverZealousHobo, on 04/24/2008, -3/+1mass effect = interactive movie
it takes talent to pull that off...- drmangrum, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1You do know that just about every PC game made in the early to mid 90's was touted as an "interactive movie" right? It actually started to become a sick running joke, every title thought it was being unique when they were just recycling the same crap.
- BattleChimp, on 04/24/2008, -0/+3Look at Uwe Boll in that picture. That D-Bag has a sweater tied around his neck and is tryin to be tough/cool. Someone remind him he sucks.
- ZenMojo, on 04/24/2008, -1/+1Wait, Mortal Kombat's "cockamamie premise" was the actual plot of the game. Blame the ***** game!
- OfNumbers, on 04/24/2008, -1/+2It's obvious the author never played Enter The Matrix. It was written in a drunken stupor? I thought it was the best playing, best looking, best written Matrix game of them all. Period. Anyone who disagrees obviously missed that title, even though it got ported to every available platform.
- LegendaryHitman, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1Enter the Matrix only got cool points because it was The Matrix. But separate it from the title, and as a game it was only mediocre at best. Blocky, choppy gaming with less than spectacular control...not that great. And I'm one of the most die-hard matrix fans there is...
- sq2shooter, on 04/24/2008, -3/+2Has there ever been a movie based on a comic book or game that didn't suck ass? If you say Spiderman, or Batman or Hulk or ... I will be forced to stab you.
- FishRHuman2, on 04/24/2008, -2/+1Well, Spawn was awesome in SoulCalibur II, but I guess that doesn't really count.
- SketchaMPM, on 04/24/2008, -1/+3Comic movies that "didn't suck ass"...are you serious? Nearly every movie critic in the universe loved Batman Begins and Spider-man 2....wanna know why? Because they were damn good. The first Spider-man, X-Men 2 and Superman Returns were also quite decent. Are you ***** new? Fail.
- trdrstv, on 04/24/2008, -1/+1"Has there ever been a movie based on a comic book or game that didn't suck ass?"
Are you too young to Remember "Superman The Movie" ? The quality went down for the sequels, but the first one was epic.- SketchaMPM, on 04/24/2008, -1/+1Oh yeah, good call. The original two Superman films with Christopher Reeves were awesome. 3 + 4 sucked though.
- rlvis, on 04/24/2008, -0/+3We’ve all been there: the scenes in the movie where there’s some fantastic martial arts/gunplay/car chase/insert-theme-of- manliness-here, and we know, as Hollywood does, that it would be cool to relive the best moments in an interactive fashion…
Nope. Never been there. - FishRHuman2, on 04/24/2008, -1/+4Uggh. This reads like a horrible amateur blog post.
- thedogfatherx, on 04/24/2008, -1/+4Hitman was a terrible movie.
- SketchaMPM, on 04/24/2008, -2/+3There are no good live-action video game movies. None. And speaking of which, did that petition to stop Uwe Boll from making movies ever pan out?
- Lunarbunny, on 04/24/2008, -0/+2Don't think it has the million signatures but the major studios dumped him so now he has to work on a porn movie budget if he wants to make anything else.
- edzilla, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1Actually, no, thanks to some german tax shelter.
