Wii Passes Xbox360 as Best Selling US Game Console Ever!

engadget.com — It's neck-and-neck but Nintendo looks to have just slipped past Microsoft in terms of total US sales for current generation game consoles. What's more, it's pulling away with a 3:1 sales lead for the month of June. NPD Group reports more than 666,000 Wii consoles were sold in June compared to 405,500 PlayStation 3s and 219,800 Xbox 360s.

    Says nothing about best selling "EVER!" OP must be a fanboy. FTA shows they are talking about current gen. It states that 10.9 million Wii's have been sold compared to 10.4 million for 360.
- whatisnotmyname, on 07/18/2008, -5/+0Someone else already pointed out the age difference in the consoles, but has anyone pointed out that Wii consoles outsell PSPs on a monthly basis and if they can continue their respective sales rate will overtake PSPs in a year or so? Or has someone pointed out the absolute differences of the consoles, one being a portable semi-multimedia machine, the other a casual game-targeted console? Or that the PSP hasn't even come close to DS sales? Sorry Tahiri, just wondering what your point was.
  
  And I thought the fanboy witchhunt was done in 2006, when every post that was even remotely favorable to any console, platform, company resulted in dunking the fanboy to see if he floats. The high levels of obesity resulted in many false-positives, with people being incorrectly "outed" as fanboys, and subsequently led to the fanboy whalehunts. Just saying, maybe we can stop with accusations of fanboy whenever someone says anything at all pro or anti anything.

    Not this year. PSP has been the best selling system every month
  - whatisnotmyname, on 07/18/2008, -1/+0Tahiri can you point to some proof? I'm not going to look too hard, and yeah, I know VGChartz doesn't always have the most accurate methodology, but if I have to pick between them saying "data for the period 05th Apr 2008 to 12th Jul 2008:

    Total 5,808,155 3,159,388"
    
    and even the very NPD reports this article is based on saying 799,594 Wiis vs. 333,629 PSPs in a one month period, and you saying "nuh-huh!" I'm going to take not-your-opinion for the win.
    
    Not saying you're not possibly right, just saying the facts say you're wrong. If you've got something that says otherwise, I'd love to see it. Otherwise, I'm just going to consider you a crackpot.
    
    PS, the NPD report says the only things a PSP outsells are PS2s and XBox 360s.

  A childish, troll-like quip on how my choice is better than your choice, infuriates me. It's a fanboy manouver. Especially when facts are blatently schewed in their favour. Who am I not to respond when 20 seconds of research is all that's needed to comprehensively counter his arguement?
