Defrag and optimize your brain...
techdirt.com — Here and I was trying to cram as much in there as I could... Who would have thought that the idea of reading too much could actually hinder your thought processes. Hopefully, I have been ignoring the correct data all along. Enjoy.

- oldcyborg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I, for one, believe that the brain gets loaded with information, good and bad, and that the more that is in there, the longer it takes me to sift thru it, and be able to say something timely. That's why I like email better than chat, and NGs better than email. No pressure.
I would love to be able to prioritize my various knowledges into groups and tighten up the whole thing so that it will run faster... I need a lot more RAM too. I am talking about Flash ram. I want keep all the good stuff in it. hehehe
Admittedly, I read constantly. It's an enjoyable escape, and learning process. Unfortunately, I no longer care for books, but instead think of things as they appear on a 19" LCD Screen. If I could just network an old laptop with a big screen to the bathroom, I would be in Sin City..... Live Porn, in the bathroom...
Nevermind....
Cyborg - 1337geek, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1this has nothing to do with defragging. Defragging would be taking a bag of m&m's and arranging the colors into piles so they are easier to get to by color.
- DFrag, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0What about me?
- kris2pe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah its nothing that I haven't already now! Its not only ignoring useless data but also compressing data & visualizing words into objects!!!
- oldcyborg, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0You got the jump on me, Dfrag!!
Cyborg - conigs, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2So according to this, I should be ignoring about 90% of the posts recently?
- theblackapple, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0More is always good.
http://theblankapple.blogspot.com/ - op12, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1conigs - more like 99%
- FunHeadlines, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"I'm not ignoring you, honey, I'm optimzing my brain."
- natedogg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This has nothing to do with "Defragging" ...needs a different title...
- ah802, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Cyborg: You need a dual monitor set-up or at the very least widescreen to sort out your thoughts.
- dBLiSS, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Agreed.. UNDigg
- capajc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Bad title. Applying PC jargon to the rest of one's life is just as bad as using sports metaphors for everything. If not worse.
Dugg for the cogent suggestion in the article. It sounds obvious, but that doesn't mean the right people are/were thinking it. - diggnationdevon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I agree, bad title.
- scottedu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I agree capajc...I think that title was way off base. They really need to get their heads in the game.
- wylddog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0agreed bad title good info
- fugitivALiEN, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What's with the links to blogs with other links with sub links to the actual article? Don't worry about crediting the "source" for your digg scopp ;)
- woohoowoot1, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0good digg ++
http://www.freexbox360.ca/?r=10318 - sonofalink, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0A cheap/easy way to optimize your brain is to get another brain, move all your thoughts to that brain and then move them back.
- billyboobs34, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0My brain and the brain between my legs are in RAID 0
- Cerberus047, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Brain defraging......57%......58%......58%.... oh ***** it froze and i got the blue screen of death.... curse you microsoft!!!!!!
- trogdoor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0So I will be smarter if I forget I ever read this article.
- foxhoundadmin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0a "defragmented" brain is a BAD thing. there are over 100 billion brain cells in an average [adult] human brain. there are even more glial cells which connect neurons to neurons. think of glial cells as your [motherboard] bus. there are 10 to 50 times more glial cells than brain cells (neurons) in an average [adult] human brain. the more glial cells, the better. they also provide support and nutrition for the neurons. my theory, the more "fragmented" a brain, the more glial cells. the more glial cells, the healthier the neurons. also, the more fragmented a brain, the lesser chance of losing information. kinda like RAID...on steroids.
so, where's my nobel prize? anyone? anyone? - 1ivewire, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's all about the metadata. How much of the space in my brain should really be dedicated to keeping the rest of my brain organized and free of useless information?
- serra, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0My brain is like a hard drive, I have to get rid of some crap in order to put more crap into it.
- foxhoundadmin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0actually, 1ivewire and serra, you are both right. my theory, yes, you do have to get rid of some crap in order to put more crap in. however, when you get rid of some crap some crap is hashed and stored for retrieval later.
- spaceboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0At least it isn't called "Hacking your Brain"
- FunHeadlines, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Lizzie Borden took an ax,
and defragged some with brain hacks... - Elranzer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0So where's Diskeeper Brain Edition eh?
- nariposa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1So information gluttony actually makes you dumber.
