- sysop073, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1It's a good thing we have Digg to keep us company
- Fishn2, on 07/02/2008, -3/+21We could destroy a few of these diseases by killing all the mosquitos.
I for one would not be against the decimation of the little bastards.- dylio, on 07/02/2008, -3/+3I don't care if there'd be ecological impact, at least I won't have to worry about huge mosquito bit welts.
- billbugger, on 07/03/2008, -0/+7anyone know a good (credible) resource for explaining the positive impact the mosiquito has on this planet?
- greenfyre, on 07/05/2008, -0/+1http://www.gigglemoose.com/artcl-blackflybenefits. ...
Sierra Leone and Uganda both have a medal "The Order of The Mosquito" to recognize it's role in keeping the white man out.
Given the 10 million enslaved and 15 to 45 million murdered in the Congo region you can see their point.
- greenfyre, on 07/05/2008, -0/+1http://www.gigglemoose.com/artcl-blackflybenefits. ...
- nblsavage, on 07/03/2008, -1/+10no mosquitoes? Say goodbye to a fair number of bat and bird species. Then say goodbye to those who predate on them.
- thebza451, on 07/03/2008, -2/+9LIKE ME OM NOM NOM NOM
- EmperorAwesome, on 07/04/2008, -2/+1Goodbye then, should've found a less obnoxious niche.
- opticwind, on 07/04/2008, -1/+1It's impossible with DDT banned. Yes, it has ecological dangers, but when millions of people are dying I think drastic measures might just be needed.
- greenfyre, on 07/05/2008, -0/+1Ecosystems are complex beasts; the multiple interedependancies and feedbacks mean that the consequences of that sort of action are highly unpredictable, and usually not good.
- guillebravo6, on 07/02/2008, -2/+2this is scary
- santaliqueur, on 07/03/2008, -0/+2That's the idea.
- Haoie, on 07/03/2008, -0/+4With the world globablised as it is, it wouldn't be unthought of for an especially contagious disease to spread to many countries in a matter of days.
Still, why worry about the sky falling? - screenwalker, on 07/03/2008, -3/+2Where's Malaria the biggest killer of them all - and AIDS that also slowly kills millions???
- redneckblues, on 07/03/2008, -1/+3It's harder to spread HIV. Most Diggers are safe.
- bixby1, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1The bacteria is outpacing our ability to combat it? That cannot be a good thing.
- feacesface, on 07/03/2008, -5/+2Phhhht. Quit being little Willamina Whiners. Seriously, e. coli feels like a mild cold AND it puts hair on your chest.
- billbugger, on 07/03/2008, -0/+2e. coli (a stain of it) is found naturally in your stomach and helps digest food.
- Niightwitch, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1It's found in your large intestine, the lower bowel, not your stomach.
- billbugger, on 07/03/2008, -0/+2e. coli (a stain of it) is found naturally in your stomach and helps digest food.
- dunnylovehun, on 07/03/2008, -1/+3DUGG! For Wire Season 4 reference
- acehorne, on 07/03/2008, -1/+1Salmonella and Escherichia coli? PLEASE...talk about weak!!! Those bacteria are just fodder for the media. How about replacing them with Bacillus anthracis and Yersinia pestis. Anthrax and Black Death FTW!!!!
- mag7, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1011. E-Douchebag Virus
- GeckoSlayer, on 07/04/2008, -0/+2It is widely known to be transmittable through social websites known as "myspace" and "facebook"
- InvisibleInk, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1This list makes me sick.
- rz8472, on 07/03/2008, -1/+6It's only a matter of time that H5N1 crosses the species barrier into humans. Meanwhile, Viagra production is at full capacity and stronger than ever, so at least when we're dead, we'll know that some of us went down with priapisms.
- anagoge, on 07/03/2008, -2/+10Personally, I believe the most life threatening illness is Interneticus Disconnecticus.
- RobotKeaton, on 07/03/2008, -1/+9Cholera should be number, if for no other reason than the fact that it routinely slows down my Oregon Trail game.
- sporg, on 07/03/2008, -0/+2Pure gold sir.
- BIGHED, on 07/03/2008, -0/+2You've died of Dysentary.
- acehorne, on 07/10/2008, -0/+0Dysentary is usually by Shigella, not Vibrio cholera
- TheSeeker11, on 07/03/2008, -4/+2All of these diseases pale in comparison to a Chuck Norris roundhouse kick.

3. Yersinia pestis bacteria + others: http://chamorrobible.org/gpw/gpw-20040801.htm - bleh19799791, on 07/03/2008, -0/+8Don't demonize diseases. They keep the world population in check.
- opticwind, on 07/04/2008, -0/+2Ever notice how the population that's being "checked" is the one NOT taking up natural resources as if there was no tomorrow?
- alternateheaven, on 07/03/2008, -0/+3I'm more worried about something we have a known functional vaccine for that we no longer give to the populace: Smallpox. At this point in time were there to be an outbreak of it the population would be seriously ravaged before the CDC could mobilize to do anything about it.
- kevin726, on 07/03/2008, -1/+2FEARMONGERS
- Niightwitch, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1What else would you prefer them monger if not fear?
- Khast, on 07/03/2008, -0/+3This is one list you definitely don't want to collect them all.
- zerhynn, on 07/03/2008, -0/+6By god, we're in for a *****. Somebody better call Morgan Freeman.

- soulonfire928, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1I always love to read about infectious diseases...Ebola and the Black Death being my favorites to read about and study.
Morbid, I know. Fascinating nonetheless. - BIGHED, on 07/03/2008, -0/+2I think we should all be thankful that Zombification is not on that list.
- elpifco99, on 07/03/2008, -1/+0These 'diseases' are just the earth's immune system. We are the disease.
- opticwind, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1Then go off yourself and do the world proud. Or, you're a hypocrite.
- jendel, on 07/04/2008, -0/+0her we go again, save your self
