Science Labs At Night [PICS]
seedmagazine.com — MUCH OF MODERN SCIENCE lives in laboratories, those distinctive structures that house the most particular means for testing our ideas. Such places have the exceptional ability to isolate problems, to control and to vary inputs — temperature, air pressure, speed, light, or sound — and then to precisely record the results.

- GiJoeBob, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2Moles and trolls, moles and trolls, work, work, work, work, work. We never see the light of day. We plan this thing for weeks and all they want to do is study.
- Greengoo, on 07/24/2008, -1/+2Unforeseen Consequences...
- senatorpjt, on 07/24/2008, -0/+8Wow, such clean labs. My lab looks like a tornado went through it.
- kidathinnes, on 07/24/2008, -0/+3I'd like to see a set of "offices at night". I've always thought about what my office would be like at 4am. Dark, quiet, kinda spooky.
- zosoIV, on 07/24/2008, -0/+7Good morning, and welcome to the Black Mesa Transit System. This automated train is provided for the security and convenience of the Black Mesa Research Facility personnel. The time is eight-forty seven A.M... Current outside temperature is ninety three degrees with an estimated high of one hundred and five. The Black Mesa compound is maintained at a pleasant sixty-eight degrees at all times. This train is inbound from Level Three dormitories to Sector C Test Labs and Control Facilities. If your intended destination is a high security area beyond Sector C, you will need to return to the Central Transit hub in Area Nine and board a high security train. If you have not yet submitted your identity to the retinal clearance system, you must report to Black Mesa personel for processing before you will be permitted into the high security branch of the transit system. Due to the high toxicity of material routinely handled in the Black Mesa compound, no smoking, eating, or drinking are permitted within the Black Mesa Transit System. Please keep you limbs inside the train at all times. Do not attempt to open the doors until the train has come to a complete halt at the station platform. In the event of an emergency, passengers are to remain seated and await further instruction. If it is necessary to exit the train, disabled personnel should be evacuated first. Please, stay away from electrified rails, and proceed to an emergency station until assistance arrives. A reminder that the Black Mesa Hazard Course decathlon will commence this evening at 1900 hours in the Level Three facility. The semi-finals for high security personnel will be announced in a separate secure access transmission. Remember, more lives than your own may depend on your fitness. Do you have a friend or relative who make a valuable addition to the Black Mesa team? Immediate openings are available in the areas of "Materials Handling" and "Low Clearance Security." Please contact Black Mesa personnel for further information. If you have an associate with a background in the areas of "Theoretical Physics," "Biotechnology," or other high-tech disciplines, please contact our civilian recruitment division. The Black Mesa Research Facility is an equal-opportunity employer. A reminder to all Black Mesa personnel: Regular radiation and biohazard screenings are a requirement of continued employment in the Black Mesa Research Facility. Missing a scheduled urinalisys or radiation check-up is grounds for immediate termination. If you feel you have been exposed to radioactive or other hazardous materials in the course of your duties, contact your radiation safety officer immediately. Work safe, work smart. Your future depends on it. Now arriving at Sector C Test Labs and Control Facilities. Please stand back from the automated door and wait for the security officer to verify your identity. Before exiting the train, be sure to check your area for personal belongings. Thank you, and have a very safe, and productive day.

PIC TAKEN DURING DAY??? Sunlight shines through the blinds!!!- lolwutpear, on 07/25/2008, -0/+0there is some light out there, but i'm not willing to rule out external lights on the building or a full moon.
- Epistaxis, on 07/24/2008, -0/+0Aww, I was expecting it to be an expose on waste - so many labs leave on all the lights and machines (including computers) overnight. Even over weekends, but then any serious lab has people in on the weekend anyway.
- hammerton1, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1I was hoping for something more erotic.
- scarwars, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2where are the guys with bra's on inputting ripped magazine covers into the slots to make the ultimate woman?
- onClipEvent, on 07/24/2008, -2/+2i'm tired of photographers use color lighting whenever they photograph science labs.....it gives people the false assumption that science labs are full of strange colors and glass flasks with blue liquid stacked all over the place.
- benkraj, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1For someone who works in a biochem lab- that's kind of how it is.
We have tons of flasks/containers/etc. that have blue gel stains in them.

- AudiaGirl, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1Makes me want to be a lab technician now.
Cool pictures. - mserebreny, on 07/24/2008, -0/+0I grew up in Palo Alto and I must say, I've never seen SLAC like this before, cool!
- yeahaboutthat, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1When I saw the pic of the Burgess Laboratory (11 I think) those old sci-fi movies where aliens cruelly held and experimented on unlucky humans sprang immediately to mind. The beautiful picture belies the sad lives of those trapped in those little cages.
Look, I'm not against research and the use of animals in research--just putting my reaction out there... - scumblz, on 07/25/2008, -1/+0Since I've never seen these during the day with people around, these pictures are really not that awe inspiring.
- azntiger1000, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1Why do labs look so eerie, but cool at the same time?
- JMellissa, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1I guess they're not very busy. Many LABS I've worked in were staffed around the clock.
- macattack5, on 07/26/2008, -0/+0i envy the cleanliness of these labs!
- susankinga, on 08/04/2008, -0/+0Bummed me out looking...have to go back to work sooner than I'd like....anyone want to take my place?
