Scientists makes first paper based transistor
alphagalileo.org — These results suggest promising new disposable electronics devices, like paper displays, smart labels, smart packaging, bio-applications, RFID tags, among others.

- aladrin, on 07/23/2008, -1/+5Okay, I don't know what kind of porn magazines require transistors... I'm actually rather scared of this idea.
- LiquidShield, on 07/23/2008, -0/+4what about a porn mag with 3D images that pop off the page...

- jeremyduffy, on 07/23/2008, -1/+7Yeah, because we really need even better RFID technology before those pesky privacy laws have a chance to get passed.

it's a scam- EmperorOfCheese, on 07/23/2008, -0/+3More specific link? Searching paper transistors shows nothing.

- steveoco, on 07/23/2008, -0/+5Maybe TP will actually evolve beyond paper on a roll... I'm still waiting for the three seashells though.

- kazukisan, on 07/23/2008, -3/+1When this becomes cheap product, I will make a picture of Bush show up on some toilet paper, and then wipe my ass with it. :) this will make me happy.
- EarthBoundX5, on 07/23/2008, -2/+3by the time that happens, you wont give a ***** anymore and you'll instead hate mccain or obama or whoever is our next president, thats how it works. Bush was not bad, he was just a president, and unfortunately with being a president, you receive a ***** ton of criticism from the young and stupid.
- roodammy44, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1"Bush was not bad"
Causing the death of a million iraqis, throwing away america's civil liberties and worsening a situation causing massive devaluation of the dollar and global crash?
Not bad?
He's not bad if you're used to corrupt, warmongering, incompetent politicians - but most other democracies aren't (unfortunately, blair was almost as bad as bush in the uk)
Have you ever thought that a lot of the "criticism from the young and stupid" might be completely valid? Don't tell me you're a 30%er.
- roodammy44, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1"Bush was not bad"
- LiquidShield, on 07/23/2008, -1/+3Just stick with whipeing your ass with the RIAA, and MPAA toilet paper... God only knows how long before people stop giving two ***** about them...

- roddack, on 07/23/2008, -1/+1First thing I thought was my old radio has paper transistors then I realized those where paper capacitors.
- krnldmp, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1"and rival with the actual state of the art of oxide thin film transistors"
I highly doubt that's true from an overall performance standpoint.- charlietuna, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1He means rival, as in "always suck in comparison".
- aserer511, on 07/23/2008, -2/+1lends a new meaning to the word motherBOARD

- askantik, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1My thoughts exactly... because we don't ALREADY have enough "disposable" *****, do we?
- palehorse864, on 07/23/2008, -1/+2Imagine this technology developed further. When you overclock your processor too much, it can literally burst into flames!
- clockb0x, on 07/23/2008, -0/+4I think this would be great for spy gadgets - when you are compromised you could just light it on fire.
- mattmollysdad, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1smart toilet paper
- rex84, on 07/23/2008, -1/+2Hmmmmm, I wonder what the mean by "bio-applications"? Another tool for big brother?
- Shinbone, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1Interesting, but...
Save a tree, use a vacuum tube? ;) - pixmaker2, on 07/23/2008, -1/+1got any pictures.
- TastyWheat, on 07/23/2008, -0/+2Ramp up the voltage and you could get self-destructing letters. Awesome!
- majordanger, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1This may seem to be a laboratory curiosity now. But if this technology can be stabilized against humidity and temperature changes, there could be a whole family of low cost and/or disposable electronics products produced with an offset printer.
But don't get too excited, I think it was about 1995 when I first read about plastic transistors. That is just now reaching maturity in some displays. - BWatkins, on 07/23/2008, -0/+0Just what we need more garbage and tracking devices.
- muzjik, on 07/24/2008, -0/+0repeat article, buried.
