+31 6 233 099 69 - Rha7dotCom, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Extremely Awesome, but anyway, I wouldn't buy it unless it's price dropped to a couple hundred and was sold at W*l-M*rt
- JohnP, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10And it costs $36,160.04 USD
- scanman20, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3I want one.
- Wamzlee, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8Holy crap! *gets out a checkbook* Name a price!
- nikoniko, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5How about $37000? That's how much he sold the first one for.
- foolfromhell, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3Firewalled. i have no firewall, can someone mirror? the images
- foolfromhell, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2I mean, i can get to websote, no Images
- antdude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Enable referral in Web browser. I had the same problem in Mozilla v1.7.12.
- Syrophenikan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4That is just flat out incredible. This is the kind of guy who should get an N.E.A. grant (but then again, his art is GOOD so he doesn't need it.)
- cybernetic798, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Wow that is a well conceived robot model...I'm tempted to suggest that to my research grp now cuz it jus looks soooooooooo cool
- ModernTenshi, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I would so buy one of those, you have no idea. Well, if you agree with me, then you do. But seriously, I want one of these things.
- Warpling, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1swt! I want one, and with motors and stuff, and a little brain and..... damn, its still awesome, I didn't see that at comic-con =( Little robot dude FTW~!
- hammydude, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Here it is via coral cache:
http://ueba.com.br.nyud.net:8080/html/Incredible-Little-Mech-Sculpture - Ireland, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3That would do for his resumé!
- Jolene, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Must...buy... *Puts ad out to sell car*
Wish there was more info on it though. Like what its made of, how long it took... any plans on selling...- GodPants, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Me too I want it **Goes and sells A$$**
- queefer, on 10/12/2007, -19/+3wow that guy has too much time
- levyjl1988, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5holy *****! they should mass produce these, I want one!
- tacom8, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2true that, how long before china get a hold of these bad boys for mega-production, man these would sell like hotcakes. that guy could make a fortune in licensing these.
He could even have his own tv show.."Poseable mini robots: the animated series" and Jackie Chan could do the voice over for the robot, and "Dr. Thumbsdown" his arch enemy could be played by Chuck Noris. awsome!
/time for bed, I'm going crazy...
- tacom8, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2true that, how long before china get a hold of these bad boys for mega-production, man these would sell like hotcakes. that guy could make a fortune in licensing these.
- Boredom431, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7That thing is sweet! It's like a improved version of the wooden skeleton things you can get in Ikea. I can see myself spending an hour on that thing just to get a position I like.
- slf67, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2You do realise it's only about 6 inches high. It's not a metal real doll!
- matx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1And what kind of positions are they
- JAWA, on 10/12/2007, -9/+2cool. i would buy one.
- Gabus, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1Incredible little thing... I want one!
- JStrider, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8very cool... i would really like to have one...
I wonder if he used the old hand controlled milling machine in the background of one of the pics... that would be waaaay hardcore- jellicle, on 10/12/2007, -9/+1No way its that CG.
- NewEvolution, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Way hardcore? *****, that man would be a god of machining the likes of which man has never seen.
We've got one of those old WWII vintage 3 axis mills in the metal shop at the university. Let me tell you, making something that precise on one of those would be a herculean feat. Perhaps if it was about twice the size it appears to be, it would be merely "astonishingly difficult."
All in all, I'm damn impressed. Even if he DID design that thing up on a computer aided CNC mill, that takes some serious mechanical engineering know-how to get all those tiny tiny joints to work right.
- tobsterius, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2It looks CG to me, but either way its really well done.
- jguerry, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1we have a very similar milling machine here at the university when i worked in the dept freshman year. i don't believe he used a computer at all in milling the parts. i'm sure he used a computer to help figure out the tolerances and such. you would think...
- Azewaldo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I saw this somewhere else, too (on TV?). I think it has over 700 moving parts.
- D4r7h3v1l, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9I just know that most people here, myself included, would want two and spends hours putting them into positions.
- Hanthus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Extremely unbelievable, this is not really a sculpture because of the freedon to choose the pose.
Totally dugg. - mark1372, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3Guys, I can't tell from the comments, but I'd really like to know...does anybody want one of these?
/sarcasm - swifty, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3"I am a cybernetic organism, living tissue over a metal endoskeleton."
Please let me not be the only one who, after checking this out, was reminded of the Terminator? - phantomAI, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3imagine a whole army of those...
- Twenty, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3That's downright astounding
- MsterTanPants, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0DUDE! Imagine a beowulf cluster of these things!!
- cokebottletuque, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I agree on the not being able to tell whether its CG or not, but in any event I still want one. All it needs now is a slimmed down frame, some muscle wire, and a chip small enough that it could lift it. on a side not any one know if a PIC or Amtel chip can handle powering muscle wire with out the need for additional relays?
- oyam19, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3can someone find out who the guy is who made it...
- Leonaken, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4It's like a mix between C-3PO and the N5s from I, Robot. That's sweet.
"I am C-3PO, please return to your homes. A curfew is in effect." - sfacets, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1Too much time + expensive machinery.
- enigmafyv, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0This is so pimp. The red robot is my new hero!
- Xinareiaz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think you are refering to the "wrestling robots"
- ZephyrWest, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Wow, that's incredible. The amount of detail is amazing.
- rgremill, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0You can just see the giant toy manufacturers trying to make it out of plastic.
- HaltingPoint, on 10/12/2007, -10/+1I'd love to add some more details to my coverage of this on my blog at The Halting Point, does anybody have any additional info other than the jaw-dropping pictures? Also, as I'm fairly new to Digg (but hope to be a great contributing user in the future) can anybody please explain how to get hyperlinks to work properly in your posts?
- HaltingPoint, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Ok, perhaps I did something wrong here....why in the HELL was I downthumbed to -6 for asking for more detailed info and for asking a technical question?!
- CarbonAndroid, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2He's very talented
- Zaius, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1That is quite a fine piece of craftsmanship there. Must of spent a long time designing as well as building that. Props to him!
- boxx, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7It's called ARTFORM NO.1
take a look
http://www.zoho.nl/zoho2.html - boxx, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12Here's More info
http://www.craftsmanshipmuseum.com/Ho.htm - jczer68, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Amazing stuff, especially if it was all machined by hand. I hope he doesn't let it go to waste and puts his work(s) on film as stop motion animation.
- yukevster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Suspicious... is it purely coincidental that that 'guy' looks like a model/actor? What's going on with that?
- photostyle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i've seen this before. maybe a year or two ago. i think you could buy one, but it was hella expensive. I tried to dig it up, but couldn't find anything on google.
- cleverboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Very amazing, beautiful work. That said, um... is it just me, or does the robot look like its executing a "BM"? It's not just me is it? Be honest.
- zweben, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Cool. Now make one that walks on its own. DO IT! NOW!
Thanks. - v0id, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I have a new hero! That guys got amazing talent and vision!
- Megladon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2God Damn, Holy *****! I machine metal myself, but that is is beyond frigg'n awesome.
- AdverseEntropy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1That is so absolutely killer. Makes me just want to play with it.
- melanko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'd buy one of thoes. Would really improve my figure drawing I think.
But, my wooden one pry would cost a WHOLE lot less. - RobotCitizen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It looks like an Asimovian robot. Brilliant display of technical skill. I want one on my desk!
- slf67, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Here's the specs:
