Crazy guy(me) on a mission to meet Michael Dell to share an idea he has..
ideafordell.com — I'm on a journey to try and meet Michael Dell himself, face-to-face to share with him an idea I have for changing the way we use computers. A simple idea I came up with during the course of my day-to-day duties as an IT-Janitor. Is it LAME to digg my own story, .,. I figured if I waited for you guys it was never gonna get DUGG... we'll see..

- tygut1, on 10/12/2007, -11/+38Good luck, a Digg to help you get there.
- Stompp, on 10/12/2007, -9/+10Ditto, good luck.
Bookmarking, curious to see where it goes! - falcon707, on 10/12/2007, -7/+12What's the idea!?!
(Agh! I read the whole thing with the hopes of finding out...) - electrosoccertu, on 10/12/2007, -2/+77I guess...but my thought is that this guy isn't giving a shred of proof for his idea, and won't tell anyone, but thinks, based on his own review, that it will change the world.
A man is always wise in his own eyes.
IMO if this were my idea I'd humbly tell a few select friends and that's it. None of this promising the world, we've had enough of that all throughout history. And most of the time those people fall flat on their face. The ones who did change the world never thought highly of themselves or their work.
You're never smart until you realize you're stupid. - diggywiggit, on 10/12/2007, -5/+28I'll digg you only if you promise to not put ads on your site.
- miznig, on 10/12/2007, -0/+37if his idea is to lease out computers, he is lame indeed
- treelovinhippie, on 10/12/2007, -4/+66@ the OP
You're an idiot... don't stroll up to Michael Dell and hand-over your idea for them to make millions off.
No they won't partner with you if you tell them. They will take the idea, say it sux and hand it to their management board who will decide whether to adopt it or not.
If you think it's great roll with it yourself.
Secondly, Dell is a ***** technology company. They don't innovate. All they do is take existing technology and pump it out to the masses in all it's ricey glory. - SundayTrain, on 10/12/2007, -4/+13Brings back memories....
Back in the day a co-worker/software engineer had this "great idea" that related to a new type of licensing model with hardware and software and a tie in with Citrix Metaframe, Dedicated servers, thin clients.... all the stuff we have come to know today...
He thought the model and the details of his plan were revolutionary and one day he just left his job and when I called him, he was on his way to talk with Dell too. He went to Austin. He had a middle level meeting with some reps and the last I heard, his wife was looking for him because of unpaid child support bills. He spent everything he had and from what I last remember, he is now working IT for Southwest Airlines in human resources.
He never hit it big. It's a sad story but true.
Just like in Texas Holdem, always save yourself some outs.... - Monolith2, on 10/12/2007, -15/+20Jose is the biggest douchebag in internet-land.
- zephc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+53"Mr. Dell. Michael - may I call you Michael? Michael. I'd like to show you these immortality rings I have here; I- I think they'll change computing forever! No, please, just a moment of your time. Please, don't run, I don't want to have to chase you..."
- archivist, on 10/12/2007, -10/+1yep goodluck with your quest. the idea alone is great nonetheless : )
- chris355, on 10/12/2007, -7/+4I hope this guy can get to Mr. Dell. However, he should keep in mind that he is probably going to have to do so through a half dozen lawyers. Large companies know that their greatest asset is their intellectual property. They don't want someone coming in off the street and presenting them with an idea that they may already be working on. They won't even talk to you unless you sign a full disclosure agreement that immunizes them against litigation if they decide to run with your idea and not pay you for it. At any rate, I admire his creativity is using PR to get to to MR. D. Good luck dude!
- Ascus, on 10/12/2007, -6/+4A dig for you. hope you get to meet him and pitch you idea. Just be ready and be able to highlight you idea in 30 seconds.
- Wooism, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3Why would you want to tell Michael Dell? Everyone knows innovation comes out of Cupertino!
- macfanboi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6$100 he has a really lame idea.
- sundancekid503, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I hate to be cynical, but this has to be one of the stupidest things I've ever seen. This guy comes off as being incredibly naive when it comes to business.
- Stompp, on 10/12/2007, -9/+10Ditto, good luck.
- joseguia, on 10/12/2007, -41/+15Thanks man, front page of DIGG will definitely grab someones attention at Dell... got a ways to go!
- ledmatrix, on 10/12/2007, -1/+69No offense joseguia, but in your correspondences with Dell, you come across as a twit. I hope you aren't serious about being contacted about your idea. I doubt they are taking you serious. I sure wouldn’t.
- spartan777, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17sorry man, but its a weak idea, lease software/hardware? who cares, why couldn't they now? or just buy and sell on ebay. leasing cars has been around for a while, but how many lease cars? some, but very few. the way you praise dell's so-so products (some cool, some suck) makes you sound like you work at dell. sorry man.
- drakethegreat, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Actually there are companies that will lease computers and software but because the idea hasn't caught on a whole lot, nobody has heard of them for the most part.
- AnalystX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+22I have to agree with ledmatrix. Your style of communication, if used in a correspondence to me, would have caused an instant spam reaction. What is with the [comma space dot dot space]? I don't understand why anyone would go out of their way to correspond using incorrect punctuation when the correct punctuation is easier to type: [comma space]. At this point you would be best served turning over your idea to a broker, or hiring yourself an administrative assistant who can communicate professionally.
- portis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16She ROXX eh? Good start to a conversation.
- markr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6If you really believe in the idea, then good luck - you've got a long way to go and I suspect that Dell really won't be interested - but you're young and ambitious so why not try and go it alone?
Some of the most successful things in the world are rejected at the first hurdle, - e.g. the Beatles or Google - but the key is to ensure that you bounce back and commit yourself to the idea.
That said - to me it sounds lame, have a good think and work out if you're wasting your time!
Good luck! - dustyshadow, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6"Actually there are companies that will lease computers and software but because the idea hasn't caught on a whole lot, nobody has heard of them for the most part."
Are you crazy? A lot of corporations lease their computers from the hardware companies. It's a tax advantage (I think)
Sun leases, Dell leases, IBM...they all do! . - hurfydurfur, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Change how we "buy" computers maybe. Companies already amortize the cost of a computer over 3 years which really, really helps defer ownership and aging as you gain revenue from making that equipment work for you.
Hardware is so cheap, is this where we are annoyed? Or is it complexity, reliability and higher functions? - Tiak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Leading software on the other hand, which seemed to have been implied ends up almost invariably leading to stronger, more evil DRM, which of course will lead to non-lease stronger standard DRM, which leads to a complete lack of digital rights.... I hope this crap never happens.
- AlexApetrei, on 10/12/2007, -5/+80I wish you the best of luck in your en devour.
And if you succeed, i will most definitely be purchasing a pirated version of your idea. - ThePharaoh, on 10/12/2007, -15/+8I'll digg it just to see what happens...
- senfo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9How will Digging it let you know what happens?
- A2Ska, on 10/12/2007, -26/+4I'm usually not a fan of the "digg this" submissions, but leasing software is not a bad idea.
- geminitojanus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+22Yes it is. It's almost as bad an idea as DRM, as it is effectively the same thing, only for software instead of for media.
- tardmongerster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14I used to rent software from a store in Virginia in the 90's. They had lots of good stuff. It was retail stuff on disks of course. Rent, copy, repeat!
- Snowcat, on 10/12/2007, -13/+12I love the idea and wish you the best of luck - however, you might want to polish up your emails to be a bit more professional. Don't get me wrong - they're great! You're great! (But it might help to be more polished.)
- luckyjonny, on 10/12/2007, -0/+20Indeed. The tone of his emails certainly says CRAZYGUY!!!
- quick2k2ecotec, on 10/12/2007, -14/+1dugg for you!
- adamsucks, on 10/12/2007, -8/+10Dugg. I look at it this way: It's almost impossible for the average Joe to get his words where they need to go in the corporate world. This is an opportunity to change that, if only just once. I don't really even care what your idea is, it's just the principle of it.
Good luck, man.- Egoist, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Except that in the corporate world, there are people whose jobs it is to do just this and he can easily speak to them. Even if he talked to Michael Dell, he would more than likely just pass it down to those people and that would be it.
This guy just wants to talk to Michael Dell for personal reasons or to say that he talked to Michael Dell, not to pass along some great idea. If all he wanted to do was give the company the idea, he would've given it to them already.
From reading his introduction, it sounds like his idea is about leasing/renting computers and software. I pray that it's more than that, otherwise he's going to get a very tepid response. - thinkdifferent, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1And if the idea is just leasing, it's not an idea that isn't done already. Corporate computer hardware leasing has existed for years. Most commonly they are lease-to-own with $1 buyout.
- Egoist, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Except that in the corporate world, there are people whose jobs it is to do just this and he can easily speak to them. Even if he talked to Michael Dell, he would more than likely just pass it down to those people and that would be it.
- cwestpha, on 10/12/2007, -19/+4I will dig for you but... I mean Dell isnt that prestegus of a company anymore. After the exploding batteries, outsourced tech support, lousy at home service, etc... Dell isnt all that impressive anymore. Oh well.
- imcompa, on 10/12/2007, -3/+20The comment form has a spell check. "prestegus" = prestigious
Dell is still one of the biggest, if not the biggest distributor of PCs. Someone who can't hit a button that says "Check Spelling," probably isn't the best person to take any advice from.
I think It's a dumb idea. Here's to wasting money on bandwidth and a domain.
- imcompa, on 10/12/2007, -3/+20The comment form has a spell check. "prestegus" = prestigious
- Petrarch1603, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15what exactly is the idea? I wanna support the underdog, but after checking out the website it isnt clear that there is any substance to this
- jerwood, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17Well, obviously, he doesn't want someone other than Michael Dell, visionary, to steal his awesome idea. Because someone who call sell lots of cookie cutter computers in massive quantities with razor margins, without much in the way of original R&D is the only kind of guy who can get a great idea like his off the ground.
- Petrarch1603, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12i still dont see any substance to the claim that this will change the way software is sold. has this guy sold software before? has he done anything on a scale of a company like dell? probably not. There are scores of businessmen who want to make proposals to leaders of industries. nothing indicates why this guy is any different [not being harsh, just healthy skepticism]
- drlog, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Yes, we should all be skeptical.
He HAS hit the front page though so we will see how well he goes.
- Seidoger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5With that website, Dell could take your idea and not tell you.
Although the leasing thing already exists -- mostly with PC games though.- khrome, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1it has to be negotiated individually with manufacturers, though, not hardware vendors
- tehsexy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5do you have a plan for securing your idea when, and if, you reveal your idea to mr. dell ? i'm inferring that you have not actually implemented and patented your idea, so how do you plan to keep YOUR idea from becoming HIS idea once you reveal it to him?
- Salmonized, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I was thinking of the same thing....probably will be told it was a bad idea, gets thrown out, then in a few weeks Dell will have a new "idea"....
- iFrank, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1RTFA. The idea's already been patented.
- khrome, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9@iFrank: reRTFA, he *wants* to patent it.
- thinkdifferent, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@ifrank
You can't patent ideas. You can copyright expressions of ideas and patent implementations of designs, but not anything so broad as an idea.
- nickhodge, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Don't think this will work. Pretty well all software EULAs do not permit leasing/renting etc.
- conjuror1972, on 10/12/2007, -13/+4michael dell?? zzzz. Id digg you if you were trying to meet jobs.. :)
- bcullman, on 10/12/2007, -6/+4I had a similar thought a while back.. what if could sell back (actually discount upfront) to dell unused computing power that could put towards some of the large computing projects out there (the protein folding project, seti or whatever they are calling it these days)
Anyways, my idea is this: when you buy a computer from say, Dell the cost is say for the one you want, $1000. But for 20% off (or some other non trivial amount) you agree to let dell remotely use your computing power for large computing projects - for the life of the computer, or the first year or some other timeframe. They somhow promice to only use the computer only when you are not using it. Perhaps if you set it for the lifetime, you get %80 off.
The user would get a better deal from the computer maker, inexchange for them agreeing that the software wont interfere with thier daily tasks, or expose them to viruses.
Dell would get vast computing resouces that it could resell, or use for humanitarian projects- geekdreams, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4OS X has Xgrid computing built-in (off by default), although you don't get a discount for using it... just have to settle for "helping humankind", I guess.
- srg13, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Xgrid is a tool to let you make a supercomputer with a bunch of macs, not to let others use your computer when it's not in use.
- TheCheeks, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6i dont like dell but Digg for you, regular people should be able to contact the head of the company from time to time with fresh ideas. its almost like the big bad companies dont want fresh ideas from actual users anymore.
- nixdoctor, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Only if it listens to its customers, Dell would make much better computers.
- DoubtfulSalmon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Is anyone running a book on how long it will be before Dell's legal ***** send a "cease, desist, and hand it over to us" letter about the domain name? 'cos I want in. Ten bucks says it lasts till next tuesday!
- xtr3m, on 10/12/2007, -6/+8I'll digg you but... http://www.arts.uottawa.ca/writcent/hypergrammar/punct.html
- btipling, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6What the hell does Dell have to do with how disparate software companies implement their distribution systems and business plans? You're not starting off on a good foot my friend. Dell is about building computers as fast and as inexpensive as possible, not much else. Also your website is ugly. (I'm really not a hater).
- Herolint, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7What do you expect? It's powered by "Microsoft Office Power".
- btipling, on 10/12/2007, -1/+23This guy's website just screams 'ignorant doofus.'
"The people here are awesome, top notch!!1111one
I got an idea for DELL 2.1 ..!!!!!!
omgroflcoptersubmittodigg 2.0!!!!"
- in2thel2ain, on 10/12/2007, -1/+46I have a great idea that will revolutionize Pamela Anderson's career. But I will only tell it to her boobs and demand a face to face meeting.
- masgrada, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2It's probably hardware that takes place of software. Like plug and go sorta thing. Rent it if you want. Sounds like it might fit the description.
- lokadin, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1zo'onai Even if you tell everyone your idea, no one is going to do anything about it. The best way of actually getting anywhere is letting as many people know as possible. See how the idea bounces off, maybe someone will show you that something is amiss.
Perhaps one day, you'll get a reply from Mr. Dell, and you'll tell him all about your idea. Then it turns out it wasn't Mr. Dell but an zo'o.u'i Evil Idea Stealer!!! and they would then go on and tell Mr. Dell or implement it themselves and make lots of money. No one will believe that it was indeed your idea, I mean what are the chances, they could very well be seated highly in the Dell hierarchy.
Anyways, if it is an Idea that is very simple, chances are, someone else has already thought of it, and tried to implement it. If it is not a simple Idea, or requires elaboration, start trying to express it now, and you wont embarass yourself not finding the words to put it in to Mr. Dell.
zo'o Big Brother wont steal your idea, he can't see you in the sea of at least moderatly sucessful companies.
Ultimatly it's your descision. .ui I have my own Idea.
http://lokiworld.org - dawglse, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1hehe, dugg just because you're also from Dallas and that this might get your idea out to Mr. Dell.
Also, try going to that Dell Direct store in Northpark mall.
One of the guys there was a friend of Dell's... Or so I've heard. - monergism, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5While I admire your idea, to a degree, it will violate many of the EULAs out there and therefore fail.
Sorry. - jobyyboj, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9I'd be surprised if Dell entertains unsolicited product ideas. I mean, if Dell did use the idea, the author has legal recourse to claim a share of the profits, more power to him. If however they *already* have a similar idea in the works, he then has legal recourse to claim a share of Dell's profits. Ordinarily the legal department wants a total release signed before anyone even receives any ideas submitted 'over the wall'. Sad to say, but this is the way our legal system works.
- posneg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Hey if you've got a great idea that's umm... great. But why oh why are you constantly using completely retarded punctuation? Where the heck did you come up with , .. ? And why do you put , .. it after nearly every , .. thought?
It doesn't mean ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!
As another poster said, you sound like a bit of a twit. But then again if you weren't you probably wouldn't go through all this trouble so I say good luck to you! :) - willgonz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Like other ideas. If you think of it, some body else already has. I thought of a system where you can mail your treasured items that the security folks try to take at the airport. You're in line. You get stopped. The pocket knife your great grand-father gave you will be lost forever. Jump out of line. Go to my vending machine and buy a prepaid envelope for face value and a convenience fee. Address it to yourself and drop it in the mail. Get on the plane. Get home wait for a couple days and get your family heirloom back. Anyway, was at the airport not to long ago. Low and behold, a machine sitting right there. My idea and someone else's too.
Anyway I'm sure Dell has a think tank. You meet with Michael Dell and he tells you, "We already researched it and here is why it won't work." - sowdog, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13/me plans to start a site to meet scarlett johansson to uhm ..er.. share an idea
PREPARE TO DIGG IT FOLKS :D - vonskippy, on 10/12/2007, -4/+13DELL SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Salmonized, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Has he been told that there are patent trolls out there to ready to jump at a chance to make a quick dough when they take him to the cleaners?? He should not be telling anyone that he has an idea, because someone is watching what he has to say.....not a smart move....who knows..i may even make them mine..
- mjar81, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3My wife works for a patent attorney. I never realized how expensive it is. $10k + with lifetime fees every year.
Good luck Mr "IT Janitor".

Na man, talk to Steve - you know, where inovation actually comes from.- marimo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1So you actually think Steve Jobs rocks! Their OpenDarwin project was for soliciting for free labour/ideas from the open source community. It failed dismally though.

- danieldantastic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5If you have an idea, take it to a company that implements ideas. Dell isn't an idea company, they just make decent stock PC's and second rate accessories. The fact that you look up to Dell makes you look like a dumb-ass. At least you're trying though, good luck.
- Parasocks, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3Two words: Breast implants.
- bigthink, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11I'm sorry to do this, but...
Dell, a “thinking-outside-the-box” company? We’re talking about Dell, right? Dell’s PC product lineup is a veritable Wikipedia how-to guide on how to not innovate. The 2010?? Man, I spent considerable time playing with one of these things about two weeks ago… For starters, the thing is stupid ugly…with the panel open, the deck looks like a mid ‘80’s VCR. The panel is free to crash into the motorized pop-up optical drive gizmo (a serious mechanical oversight/mistake). The keyboard sucks. Oh, and it costs $3500. Wait, let me say that one more time. It costs $3500 (starting price)…right, I’m talking US dollars. Guess how many of these they’re selling at that price? That would be ummm…not many. For $3500 you damn well expect something amazing (that much cake will most definitely build you one bada$$ desktop system)…and I’m here to tell you that the 2010 falls short all over the place. When upper management says to the R&D team…”ok you guys, retail for this is gonna be $3500”, they’re basically saying…”here’s a blank check, build something awesome”. To think that this was the best they could come up with given this kind of budget and mandate is utterly embarrassing. Truly. Imagine what Sony or Apple would have done with that kind of jack to spread around on a big box. Dell doesn’t play in the same league…not now, not ever, not even close…sorry. Dell’s stock price is in the latrine, they can’t make the direct model work worth a damn anywhere but the US. And yea, they’re dominant number 1 in the PC space in the States, but sadly this is precisely where profits are lowest globally right now. Dell is not a strong global player, and it’s hurting them. Badly. This company has never thought outside the box. It’s not part of their strategy. What’s won for Dell is mainstream, me-too boxes at competitive prices. This is their strength, and it shows with the junk they put out when they decide to deviate from that strength. Believe me, at Dell, innovation has never been part of the equation.- geekdreams, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I agree 100%.
Also, there's a reason the DJ Ditty and the Axim are "now defunct" -- no one should be trying to bring them back. - serebreal, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1"::…ok you guys, retail for this is gonna be $3500, they’re basically saying…'here’s a blank check, build something awesome'. To think that this was the best they could come up with given this kind of budget and mandate is utterly embarrassing. Truly. Imagine what Sony or Apple would have done with that kind of jack to spread around on a big box. ::"
Uhh... what would they do for $3500?
......... build a $800 Dell PC, but write "APpl3" on the front and put Unix & a windowmanager on it, then retail it for $3500?
(ba-dum cha!)
- geekdreams, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I agree 100%.
- marthaphoebe, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Michael Dell will steal your idea and leave you in the gutter. Try protecting yourself first.
- pyxlb0mb, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2ouch ... well good luck ... it's gonna be a while ... (anyone got a snickers?)
I agree ... cover your arse! - Focher, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Maybe this sounds offensive, but sending emails that sound immature (like "DELL ROCKS!") is not likely to get you time with anyone at Dell, let alone the chairman.
Instead of being so focused on only sharing it with Michael Dell, you should document your idea clearly and completely. Get it notarized with a date, seal it in an envelope, and then try to present it to some responsible for business development at Dell or wherever. The fact is, most companies no longer accept proposals for external people because it ends up in a fight over how much the idea is worth etc.
But if you still want to focus on Dell, more power to ya. I just suggest you be more articulate in your communications. - johnlark, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I always find it amazing when people assume their idea is the greatest thing since sliced bread and refuse to share it with others. I can tell you that mentality would never work in the venture capital community as so many people tend to believe, I am not going to share my idea in fear of someone stealing it. I am a strong believer in the underdog but I also have to question the legitimacy of this. You have to imagine, even if he wanted to listen to your idea, he couldn't do anything about it being that they are not able to accept unsolicited ideas. If you are truly serious about meeting him, buy 1 share of dell and go to the next annual stock holders meeting, that's your best bet but again, the way you present yourself here, I can tell you that you will not be taken seriously. I imagine at best he will give you the time of day at the annual meeting but you are setting yourself of for disappointment if you believe it will go beyond that.
- decryption, on 10/12/2007, -6/+6Dell wouldn't know a good idea until Apple came up with it.
- johnlark, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2Have you ever met him? Probably not. He is a rather articulate person in fact. I thing it's interesting that people like you utilize open communication methods like this to act your shoe size rather than your iq. Grow up pal.
- digitallysick, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Dr mr dell, ur pc's sux0rz but good going on the 300$ laptop and desktops, since most of the world buys them , and i am left to work on them, and upgrade the ram/parts in a short period of time. Also mr dell, what happened to the "dude you getting a dell " guy, i think we need him back. Ps, Please dont screw up alien ware, thanx - consumer
- Sulleric, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Alienware is screwed up as it is. their computers are too pricey and overrated.
- hotdigg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4The time of Michael Dell (CEO of a large company), is no doubt quite valuable. Even if this guy only gets 5 minutes of his time, there is a substantial dollar value attached to that 5 minutes. Is his idea worth that? Prove it!
- AzrimEkim, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Here's a great idea for Dell: quit making crappy computers.
- echo1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2best "innovative" idea in this whole thread
- tumcerhum, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Anyone ever heard of viral marketing?
I mean, really, guys and gals, look at the unwarranted dell 'innovation' fanboyism.
No doubt the story will unfold over the next few days and weeks, goals will be met, announcements over some new revolutionary way of using computers (read: some new revolutionary way for Dell to get your money and/or crush its opposition) will be made, good times will be shared by all etc. An inspiring tale of the little nerd who could.
Please grow some scepticism.- BishopAzrael, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yeah, I'll agree with this here. Something's just not right here. Look, when's the last time any of us could say we know ANYONE who even liked Dell?
No one here.
Rotating out of that... I don't know. Something just strikes me as wrong.
This guy is a HUGE dell fanboi
He has an idea he KNOWS will change how things are done, yet wants to give it away?? WHY?!?!?! For the love of Pete man, give it to ME! I'll take it and use it properly. Dude, why are you going to give smoeone else the money that should be going into your pocket? No one is this lame.
Something just smells here and I call ***** - robottaway, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hot damn you read my mind. What kind of world do we live in
"I think Mr. Dell and his company have everything in place to make my idea become a reality, .. HP, ACER, none of those companies think outside the box, .. just take a look at Dells latest Inspiron Notebook - the M#####."
Pulleeez!
- BishopAzrael, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yeah, I'll agree with this here. Something's just not right here. Look, when's the last time any of us could say we know ANYONE who even liked Dell?
- blankartist, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This idea doesn't involve computing on a Segway, does it? 'Cause that idea bombed.
- LAhazmat, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1After Micheal Dell sends you on your way may I suggest you head to 6th Street?
You can listen to great music while putting back a few drinks with the good people of Austin! I love that town!
Good Luck! - earthtoandy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Dell is the ford of the computer industry. They aren't interested in innovative ideas unless they involve the efficiencies of production. The Model T didn't have innovative features, it had an innovative production model that made it cheap so everyone could have it.
Dell isn't interested. - dj4site, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6The problem (for industry) is that for every 100 crackpot ideas there may actually be a genuine advance lurking in there somewhere. Take the following conversation-
Inventor- Hi, I have this great idea for a vacum cleaner that doesn't have a bag...
Manufacturer- What? No bag? Sorry but thats a crazy idea, who would want that?
That was Mr Dyson talking to just about every established vacum cleaner manufacturer in the world, before setting up his own factory and nearly putting them out of business!
Truth be told, it doesn't matter how good an idea is if the people evaluating it are stupid and lack imagination. - KenYN, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I read the site, but I don't think it's a Dell creation - anyone want to probe the domain registration?
Anyway, the guy said he came up with the idea during his day-to-day work, but don't most companies have as part of their standard employee contract something to say that any ideas you have at work belong to the company, not to you, especially if it relates to work stuff.- tumcerhum, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4You don't think it's a Dell creation? Based on what? No (c) Dell at the bottom of the page?
All I'm saying is... don't just flat out believe stuff, especially if the person has something to gain by you believing him. Hell, don't just flat out believe me when I claim it's a fraud. For all you know I am a HP employee doing "antiviral" or "medicinal" marketing if you will (I am so going to copyright that term - which coincidentally is a great name for a band!).
- tumcerhum, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4You don't think it's a Dell creation? Based on what? No (c) Dell at the bottom of the page?
- bdubya, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Dugg to get a reply from Michael Dell
