- DanQuist, on 10/11/2008, -0/+3Surprisingly well done actually, except that I've overclocked on two different Abit boards and they both let me increase the multiplier.
One nasty thing about overclocking is that if you have to increase the voltage core too much, your pc will turn into an energy hungry monster. The power consumed by your cpu is proportional to the frequency multiplied by the square of the core voltage, so don't do it unless you need to, or don't care about electric bills. - 1legend, on 10/11/2008, -0/+1I'm interested in overclocking but haven't ever done it before until yesterday with my GPU (Radeon 4850). I managed to OC the core to 700mhz (from 625mhz) and OC the memory to 2290mhz using ATI Overdrive and ASUS SmartDoctor.
Unfortunately for me, I have a Dell Optiplex 755 and can't overclock my CPU (Q6700). I think I will build my next computer so I can try overclocking my CPU for the first time =)
Great guide btw. - welliwonder, on 10/12/2008, -0/+1Sigh, very little information on that "guide" for anyone to overclock anything.
Google overclocking/hardware forums. Ask questions. - smrekar, on 10/12/2008, -0/+1my interior monologue read the teaser text in the voice of dwight shrute.
- hammer310, on 10/12/2008, -0/+1I know that if I tried this, I'd put it back together and my rig would catch on fire.
