Why The Digg Front Page Isn’t Everything!
enhancedperfection.com — Chances are I ’m never going to get onto the front page of Digg, and even if I did my web host would probably kill over. However, just because I can’t hit it big doesn’t mean that Digg doesn’t help my blog out. In fact I can link almost all of my marginal success with this website to my activity on Digg. Here are some of the ways that Digg can help.

- SethEllis, on 07/02/2008, -2/+1Thanks, you're the 2nd person that has told me that, but it doesn't happen to me. I think it might be a caching issue.

Why The Digg Front Page Isn’t Everything
July 2nd, 2008
Chances are I’m never going to get onto the front page of Digg, and even if I did my web host would probably kill over. However, just because I can’t hit it big doesn’t mean that Digg doesn’t help my blog out. In fact I can link almost all of my marginal success with this website to my activity on Digg. Here are some of the ways that Digg can help out even the smallest weblogs:
Get Indexed
Putting a story on Digg is an easy way for your website to get indexed by Google. If your just starting out chances are Google doesn’t crawl your page very often. However, Google crawls Digg constantly. Every time my site gets submitted to Digg it gets indexed within a day. In addition to getting indexed quickly the link also helps your keyword rankings. Combine this with some clever SEO and you’ll see traffic from Google in no time.
You Still Get Traffic
Believe it or not you don’t have to get onto the front page to get traffic from Digg. I get daily traffic from stories that were submitted over a year ago and never got over 30 Diggs. The trick as always is to use keywords wisely. Someone will search for the keyword on Digg, and they will run into your article.
Invaluable Experience
Just because you aren’t hitting it big now doesn’t mean that you won’t in the future. With each attempt you make you’ll learn a little bit more about how to market your website. People don’t become SEO/Marketing guru’s overnight. You need experience, and active participation on Digg is a great way to learn.
It’s Fun
Who said you have to get massive amounts of traffic to enjoy blogging or Digg? Getting a story to the front page of Digg is an adventure in and of it’s self. Enjoy it! - aliweb, on 07/02/2008, -0/+7I am trying hard to get to first page but no luck so far. I have seen that some times very stupid and mediocre news goes to first page but not quality ones.
- macbookhair, on 07/02/2008, -0/+4Digg is great for getting your pages on google fast.... I agree with that.
- Jasper710, on 07/02/2008, -1/+3Hitting the digg homepage will increase your rss subscribers by like 20-30%
- nudeinfl, on 07/02/2008, -0/+2Excellent insight into this. I agree it is a fantastic way to get seen by google almost immediately. Also, you just neve know who else will pick up on it. If you are an adept at Digg, you will be able to shout to a lot of people. The ones who have difficulty seems to be the ones who join and post their own webpage.
- Nitrolinken, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1Dugg for actually being useful while being about digg.
- priandoyo, on 07/03/2008, -0/+2Yes agree, it's not everything since we still can have a lot of friend here.
*i love digg - UltramegaOK, on 07/03/2008, -0/+10I see what you did here. Reverse Psychology.
Clever bastard. - slimzainy, on 07/03/2008, -0/+2Great insight
- db0255, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1You're about to eat your words, Joka86...and it's a good thing...
- Peintros, on 07/04/2008, -0/+2Great article. Patience a virtue. I won't give up, and one day...maybe one day...I will nail the front page :D
- w21irving, on 07/04/2008, -3/+1Dear digg community:
Im sick of these "how-to make it to digg front pages" sites that are all attempts to make the ***** front page of dig. Why not actually submit an interesting article that digg.com was made for, and no more of this repetitive 'i wanna make front page' blog *****. Bury them as they come, maybe we'll get worthwhile articles again...
-thank you for your attention - Midnightrambler, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1The term you are looking for is "keel over" not kill over.
- tehbored, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1Well, there is one sure fire ticket to a front page submission: xkcd spamming! It worked for me and it can work for you(not that it will do anything for your blog)!
But seriously, I submitted my blog to digg before and got a nice amount of views considering I never broke 10 diggs. - dawnraid101, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1It is now everything to you, lucky bastard.
- Surferess, on 07/05/2008, -0/+2FP is everything.
