- quomen, on 10/12/2007, -49/+42I'd like to inject her with my venom..
- Tonyisbad, on 10/12/2007, -37/+16Great just when I was about to go to bed. And when i have nightmares about this and consult my buddy Dane and his dream book, he is going to call me "Super Ultra Tremendously Gay". Great.... I can see it now..

- DscHmi3, on 10/12/2007, -32/+10Leave it to the French...
- inadvertence, on 10/12/2007, -0/+141For those who wonder, what the caption says at the bottom of each image is:
"Without protection, it is with AIDS that you make love. Protect yourself.". - Coniferous, on 10/12/2007, -3/+112Good. Thats the point. Its really about time that someone made a poster that /Scared/ someone. Quite frankly, i'm sick of these stupid posters with hot guys (or gals) on them that say something along the lines "Whats in his/her pants!". Yeah, effective jackasses. Thats going to get someone to think twice.
AIDS is scary. Getting it ruins your life. We need more posters that reflect the REALITY of the situation. - deannnnnn, on 10/12/2007, -4/+189Very old.
But here are some German ones from this year: http://www.spiegel.de/international/zeitgeist/0,1518,474858,00.html - TheWorm, on 10/12/2007, -7/+127Why does every other country in the world not have such strict standards with advertisements and media and are able to have some fun? This whole country is too damn conservative. We would never see a poster half this effective in America. They don't even want posters like this, because they don't want people to know about sex. People were even complaining that princes guitar (somehow) looked like a penis and it was making our children gay.
- MSTK, on 10/12/2007, -10/+31By the way, why is it spelled "AIDES" on the poster? Is there something in the translation that adds an extra word in the acronym?
- themastersb, on 10/12/2007, -28/+4Just goes to show that the french are a bunch of spiders and scorpions.
- raithetarkon, on 10/12/2007, -31/+6@deannnnnn
Cool.. but I don't get the 4th pic.. I can't read german so all I see is a nice pair of boobs.. is that supposed to deter me? - akyra, on 10/12/2007, -5/+6Very effective.
- decipherd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+22@raithetarkon..
Thats why the english is underneath..

(age check though) - stillwaters, on 10/12/2007, -0/+30@MSTK: AIDES is the name of the organization behind the pics.
- BPGB, on 10/12/2007, -0/+20This year's swiss stop aids campaign is quite good, too:
http://stopaids.ch/stopaids.php (Click Campaign -> Spot) - RAEP, on 10/12/2007, -0/+25@MSTK
The French acronym for AIDS is actually SIDA (Syndrome d’Immuno Déficience Acquise). AIDES is just the organization, like GoustiFruit said. - mdhauke, on 10/12/2007, -14/+6"Those images make me decidedly uncomfortable."
So do the French - IMustBeEmo, on 10/12/2007, -4/+17Forget having unprotected sex, those posters make me want to take LSD
- Kenelm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9"AIDES" is the plural of "help" in french. But it's not an acronym at all.
It's not really obvious for a french that there's a link between this name and AIDS, because it's spelled SIDA in french. - Zippo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+24I always knew Scorpios were good in the sac.
- fluxingtontheIV, on 10/12/2007, -11/+3@deannnnnn
man, those breasts are perfect, yummy... - AndyM2000, on 10/12/2007, -5/+0i think they just look ***** up...
- ElectricFuneral, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2deannnnnnn's post had better pics, the raiders fan was awesome.
- HunterTV, on 10/12/2007, -0/+19"My name is Kafka, and I appove of these ads."
- jessebs, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I know AIDES means help, but I couldn't help but think about the South Park episode where Jared had aides to help him lose weight.
- lixao, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Just to clarify the name a little bit more:
AIDES is the name of the charity (but it could also translate to aids,as in help and support, not the disease, but the plural of aid), I think the idea behind the name was to have strong name in French (help and support), but also have a double meaning in English, meaning "Aid for Aids". As someone already mentioned aids in french is called SIDA.
The associations website is:
http://www.aides.org/ - Technopundit, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Arachnids have all the fun.
- rnwen2750, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The Swiss one posted above kicks ass! Much more effective than the non-campaign going on in the US.
- aides, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3For your information, this "Spider and Scorpio" campaign was not officially endorsed by the French NGO AIDES.
Somehow, the visuals (which unfortunately include our official logo on them...) got leaked on the internet.
AIDES is a community-based organization founded upon the mobilization of People Living with HIV and their peers, that's one of the reasons why we do not approve this campaign which suggests that People with HIV are like dangerous insects.

- Kourgin, on 10/12/2007, -27/+10and.. uhh.. props to the scorpion..?
- stupidverizon, on 10/12/2007, -8/+88Why is it we have to see the ass of the guy but nothing of the girl? Stupid unfair world...
- fulldecent, on 10/12/2007, -5/+49What guy? All I see is a spider and a hot girl.
- refreshments, on 10/12/2007, -6/+18Forget the spider, to be that scorpion....

- ledguitar, on 10/12/2007, -58/+20I see how this is creepy but how does this show the dangers of unprotected sex and contracting AIDS?
- icurnvs, on 10/12/2007, -55/+9bury me
- karel747, on 10/12/2007, -5/+245Simple message, really: Don't ***** giant spiders or scorpions, or you'll get AIDS.
Good thing I wore a condom... - icurnvs, on 10/12/2007, -8/+34Sorry ledguitar...the Digg community can't help you if you fail to see the obvious facts. It's obvious that when a spider or scorpion goes from being small to like really really big, they can carry AIDS....duh!
- siszam, on 10/12/2007, -29/+9Do you think wearing a condom protects you 100% from HIV? Volunteer for hospice work sometime. It will open your eyes. The only 100% protection is abstinence.
- goodoldharris, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9As the first commenter admits, the images will make many people feel uncomfortable. This unpleasant emotion is clearly associated with sex, and more specifically, with the message printed at the bottom of the ad - that you can get AIDS from unprotected sex. For any ad, getting people to associate the right emotion with a message is more effective than just getting them to read a message. I think, after seeing this ad, some people might think twice before having unprotected sex. I'm not sure why you doubt it would be effective. Or maybe, you just forgot to put the "/sarcasm" at the end of your comment.
- BrainInAJar, on 10/12/2007, -4/+20siszam:
sentiment like that is dangerous... here's what someone horny hears... "a condom isn't 100% effective, so ***** it, let's bone her bareback"...
if you seriously think you can convince people /not/ to have sex, you're a ***** moron. It's best to at least hope they do it safely, and keep your morality out of a public health discussion - Pottersquash, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6

Who said anything about morality? He said he worked at a Hospice and saw ppl who used condoms yet will die from aids. Strange, you say "keep your morality out of a public health discussion" as if he is trying to alter someone's behavior and moral guideposts while your condoning lying to people on the guise that "its whats best for them" because they will have unprotected sex otherwise. There is nothing moral about making the factual statement that absentice is the only 100% way to avoid AIDS, and anyone who has 100% avoidance of danger as a goal should have the option of knowing the truth, sure for most the 99,9 or so percent protection of a condom is good enough but for some the cost/benefit of sex wouldn't be worth it, let them make that decision. Further, don't bring your accusation to a public health discussion - Technopundit, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Meh. I've had worse.
- theskunkworks, on 10/12/2007, -11/+97lucky spider....
- pirana0, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8He's about to shot web.
- MrBuckley, on 10/12/2007, -3/+87I can only imagine the kind of reaction that that would receive in the U.S.
- seventoes, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10oh god, it wouldnt even get approved to go public, too many religious nuts...
- TheLoneWolf071, on 10/12/2007, -8/+181Spider man, spider man, does what ever a spider ca.... holy *****!
- ParanoiaAgent, on 10/12/2007, -7/+164I don't know how many nights I've had a few too many, and woke up with a huge scorpion cuddling me. Good thing I used protection.
- jnavarre, on 10/12/2007, -128/+17Arrrgh. Why isn't there a man-ass warning in the title? It's way more important than NSFW.
- Eska, on 10/12/2007, -12/+142Someone is insecure about their sexuality.
- jnavarre, on 10/12/2007, -84/+11Not liking man-ass makes me insecure? I don't get it.
- dassin, on 10/12/2007, -4/+107We'll all make sure to label the articles containing man-ass from now on, so you can find them better.
- Innagadadavida, on 10/12/2007, -18/+43Seriously, if you just LOOK at the title, you can determine that it's NSFW. It's clearly about sex, and it's clearly about sex in france, how can you not assume that there is going to be nudity?
- jnavarre, on 10/12/2007, -34/+7Or there could be a section dedicated to man-ass!
Wow, now even *I'm* starting to question my security.
I seriously can't make a comment without sounding like Tobias from Arrested Development. - Innagadadavida, on 10/12/2007, -15/+5I wasn't very clear in my comment. I wasn't trying to be funny or make fun of France. I meant sex in France because they don't have the same censorship rules as we do in the US.
- Dundasbro, on 10/12/2007, -5/+34You sound like a 12 year old trying to prove to his friends he isn't gay by being the most anti-gay you can be. Kinda like when year 1 guys have a crush on a girl and don't want anyone to know, they throw rocks at her.
You can just come out of the closet now, we're all friends here. - refreshments, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16Seriously, it's just a guy butt.
I don't start bitching if I see boobs. That's why they have strict censorship laws in America. Guys are scared they might see a guy butt! - jnavarre, on 10/12/2007, -13/+9Damn! I made a tongue-in-cheek comment (admittedly not very funny) and now I'm being burned at the stake. I'm *not* homophobic.
- tizz66, on 10/12/2007, -3/+35Tell me about it. I went to see 300 last week, and you know that scene where you see his ass? Yeah, turned me gay on the spot. Damn movies, I wish they'd warn me.
- m3mn0n, on 10/12/2007, -9/+3Dude, looking at a naked guy ***** a scorpion is like the most un-gay thing ever.
Quit being so homophobe. - AustinMeoang, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1@jnavarre
YOU need a man-ass warning! - T3hl33tg33k, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1He just doesn't like naked men! Just because he didn't masturbate to the picture and post it on Digg doesn't meant he is a homosexual.
- naio21, on 10/12/2007, -9/+2@jnavarre: don't criticize men nudity in a social site FULL of perverted ***** like Digg.
You've seen the results: dugg down into oblivion. Now I'm next.
- sucks, on 10/12/2007, -26/+14my pet spider felates me

- ktonini, on 10/12/2007, -17/+3this is not recent...
- 4UIDigg, on 10/12/2007, -12/+4Even an ice-cold shower would not be this effective!

- CoffeeandTV, on 10/12/2007, -26/+1Older than Jesus.
- tvashtar, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9And on that note let us see what Jesus et al had to say about sexual protection:
“9 But Onan knew that the offspring would not be his; so whenever he lay with his brother's wife, he spilled his semen on the ground to keep from producing offspring for his brother.”
Genesis 38:9
It's always good to know there's biblical advice for the most obscure of possible situations. - Kale, on 10/12/2007, -1/+23@tvashar: Ever heard of context? Next verse:
Genesis 38:10 What he did was wicked in the Lord's sight; so he put him to death also. (NIV) - ewc80, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7So pulling out is wicked? Damn, you can't do anything without God getting pissed about it. Seriously though I always thought onanism referred to masturbation it sounds like its really about coitus interuptus. Either way, god needs to stay out of my bedroom.
- Carphunter, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1That's why we have facials and bukkake and other forms of sport. So it doesn't spill...
- T-Maaz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4@tvashar and kale:
So is it the pulling out that's the wicked part, or is it the whole part about banging your brother's wife that's the killable offense here? - johndi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5T-mazz, he was actually required to marry his brother's wife since his brother died without children. The argument over this is whether "every sperm is sacred" (Monte Python does a hilarious bit on that) or that he refused to give his brother's wife children as the child would have been considered his brother's child, not his. So basically he refused to impregnate his wife and sister-in-law so his own children by his first wife would gain his brother's estate.
It may seem like a small matter, but it isn't since this combined with "be fruitful and multiply" are the basis for the no birth control stance of the Catholic Church it isn't.
- tvashtar, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9And on that note let us see what Jesus et al had to say about sexual protection:
- cfpresley, on 10/12/2007, -5/+24That is one sexy scorpion.

What is with the hands forming the peace "V", (virus), symbol in the "punky"-looking dude's patch. Germans associate peace with virus? I could've sworn they were down by now.. :P- derphilipp, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1No, I thinks it just displays a fan-sticker and has no real meaning. In Germany the V-Sign is used for "peace" and "victory" - like in the US.

- poordavey, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4"It appears terrorists snuck a snuke up your snitch."
- chubbstar, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1trendspotter: take really old content from the internet and submit it to digg. guaranteed front page exposure!
- nakile, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1"...which uses really creepy but very well done photoshop pics..."
You mean those creatures aren't real? Who would have thought... - choopie911, on 10/12/2007, -11/+2OOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLDDDDDDDDDDDD!!!!!!!
- GoustiFruit, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1@MSTK: AIDES is the name of the organization behind the pics AND means "help" in french.
- paranoidfox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2anyone know what the image is above the bed in the man/scorpion picture? it looks cool.
- Indolentron, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I don't know what the picture itself is, but the effect is rasterbation.
http://homokaasu.org/rasterbator/
It basically enlarges a picture in a way that looks a little nicer than big blocky pixels.
- Indolentron, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I don't know what the picture itself is, but the effect is rasterbation.
- Thintalle, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Someone asked why it was called "AIDES" on the poster.
"AIDES" is the name of the organisation that made these posters, but also a verb meaning "Support/Help" in french.
"SIDA" is the 'correct' french acronym for "AIDS" (syndrome de l'immunodéficience acquise), but of course most french people are familiar with the internationally more common used term. - refreshments, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16I like how the campaign can be applied to both heterosexuals and homosexuals. Very effective.

Both are very much NSFW, though.- DreKor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1incredible. those are probably the funniest things i've seen all day.
- oxidas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8They are really effective as they are creative and grab your attention, at the same time they somehow subconciously warn you about the risks.
- crzy88, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1@oxides
I don't know about that. imo it does grab my attention but I don't think they do anything to help warn about the risks. The only way i think today's generation can actually learn is from dialog and ESPECIALLY from your own parents or counselors. Still, it just needs to get to those few people who will take it as a stern warning. On a side note couldn't they have put a crab instead of a spider or somethin? hehe -
