- IamKrAzE, on 06/10/2008, -2/+21I wonder how well she handles the metal detectors.
- stizz, on 06/10/2008, -0/+10I have a similar disease and only one titanium hip so far..the metal detectors suck donkey dick.
Particularly right after 9-11 when every time I beeped at a metal detector I was immediately given the 'you are a dangerous terrorist' treatment.
I empathize with this women.- texpundit, on 06/10/2008, -0/+2My grandmother had it but never had any replacements. She had tons of bone spurs and had to have her feet broken and realigned. *shudders* My mother's had both her knees replaced due to osteo-arthritis.
I have osteo-arthritis which, thank God, is not nearly as bad as rheumatoid.

- orxor, on 06/10/2008, -0/+1FTA: A dozen operations and countless procedures meant Mrs Brown had so much metal inside her that she set off airport alarms on a visit to the U.S.
- sanman, on 06/11/2008, -0/+1But Lindsay Wagner made being maimed and crippled look so glamorous...

- dyskon, on 06/10/2008, -12/+6This is amazing. Maybe soon they will be able to replace my spine.
Bad posture and reading digg for hours has turned me into a cripple. :-/
DAMN YOU KEVIN! ITS LIKE CRACK!- Jorrin, on 06/10/2008, -2/+2Then please, feel free to leave.
- fulibs, on 06/10/2008, -0/+1I think you mean give you a spine, you need to have a spine before they can replace it.
- MikeonTV, on 06/10/2008, -6/+16She got through airport security but my Macbook Air didn't :(
- Oxygen, on 06/10/2008, -1/+17Only Terrorists use Macs. Everyone knows that.

- dsmx, on 06/10/2008, -0/+8We have the technology, but we don't want to spend a lot of money.
- Hangly, on 06/10/2008, -0/+10The real bionic woman has one bionic ear.
- ObamaWins08, on 06/10/2008, -6/+11I could really use a bionic joint right now... somebody put on some Marley...

- Kragnerac, on 06/10/2008, -1/+2Does she have the ultra awesome visual UI bionic eyes?
- Llan, on 06/10/2008, -9/+6She should use her music player to play the d-d-d-d-d-d-d sound and move in slow motion.
C'mon, noone made this joke yet?- Bluemotion, on 06/10/2008, -0/+2i thought it was more of a ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch sound.

- mGARANDEUR1, on 06/10/2008, -3/+4Don't let that women near an NMR or MRI.
- Skafia, on 06/10/2008, -0/+4Actually, most false joints, if not all, are made out of Titanium, which is a nonferrous metal alloy; meaning magnets have no effect on them.
- blackinthmiddle, on 06/10/2008, -0/+2Very true. Titanium is used because it's the one substance that the body doesn't reject right away. It rejects it, just not that quickly. Usually a good Titanium hip replacement will lat 10 years before the body rejects it.

- Bluemotion, on 06/10/2008, -0/+13Bionic my ass!
i thought the title meant an advantage over normal joints, like super strength ability (actually that would be muscles, but still).
I bet she is grateful for the NHS. - Skafia, on 06/10/2008, -0/+23This isn't bionic. Unless her joints shoot lasers or are now at least 8x stronger/ more flexible, they're not bionic to me, nor to Steve Austin.
- ep53, on 06/10/2008, -1/+29In before anyone else....DailyFail is crap.
- waveringhobbit, on 06/10/2008, -3/+1I bet the terrorists are scheming in making bionic people... then plant bombs in their system. hahahah!
- ChileanGoD, on 06/10/2008, -1/+1I can't look at this without listening to the million dollar man theme music in my head.
- ElAssoWipo, on 06/10/2008, -0/+5I exploded of laughter when that page loaded.
That picture is... less than bionic. - xister, on 06/10/2008, -0/+1Ugh- the x-rays of those screws going into her bones made me wince. I bet she's got some fantastic painkillers.
- WELLDOITLIVE, on 06/10/2008, -1/+0No nerves inside your bones.
- BOFH2, on 06/10/2008, -0/+1You are right but there is still pain there. She would have been off the PKs(usually) about 4 weeks after each surgery.
- WELLDOITLIVE, on 06/10/2008, -1/+0No nerves inside your bones.
- Frostek, on 06/10/2008, -0/+549-year old grandmother. Yep, that's Boldon Colliery for you...
- kingofinternet, on 06/10/2008, -0/+1i can always count on the dailymail and fox news!
all the news that's fit to print! - Hanker, on 06/10/2008, -2/+4It would suck if she has to fight Magneto in an epic battle for world domination
- blackinthmiddle, on 06/10/2008, -0/+3Titanium isn't magnetic. Obviously, neither is the plastic joints they've put in her. Magneto would have to resort to picking up a car and slamming it on her. Sucks.
- Mathieujofis, on 06/10/2008, -1/+0"Initially it was put down to 'growing pains'. She was then diagnosed with depression and put on anti-depressants, before the real cause was identified and the years of surgery began."
Can someone tell me how we go from depression to arthritis?- AngelaQ, on 06/10/2008, -0/+2The same way a woman in her late 20's gets diagnosed with "growing pains". Talk about a crap diagnosis, there is no such thing. It's just doctors who haven't figured out what is wrong with somebody of a certain age.
- galvo, on 06/10/2008, -0/+1In before entertaining news story.
- CuriousDan, on 06/10/2008, -0/+0With metal implants in her knuckles and elbows she could have been a MMA sensation.
- Ben789da, on 06/10/2008, -3/+0I bet she's a real machine in the sack..
- S4MF1SHER, on 06/10/2008, -0/+1Yikes
- S4MF1SHER, on 06/10/2008, -0/+1Yikes
- GeorgeXIV, on 06/10/2008, -0/+2I'll probably need bionic thumbs from computer, texting and gaming by the time I'm 50
- PDF84, on 06/10/2008, -0/+1I guess scientist don't conduct experimental procedures on attractive women in the real world.
..sigh.. - pbarbosa, on 06/10/2008, -0/+0if the bionic parts were made out of adamantium, then Wolverine would be a woman.
- blackinthmiddle, on 06/10/2008, -0/+1No, then the woman would be Lady Deathstrike!
- PDF84, on 06/10/2008, -0/+3Go Go Gadget Hip Fracture!!!
- diggrnumber1, on 06/10/2008, -0/+1and i thought my grandma had had a lot of joint replacements. she's only had a measly 3 so far.
- camintmier, on 06/10/2008, -0/+2Lindsay Wagner is definitely hotter.
- modex, on 06/10/2008, -0/+3Having a bunch of joint replacement surgeries hardly makes one "bionic"
I'm not sure whether to bury this as inaccurate or lame... - daschupa, on 06/10/2008, -1/+1My grandpa had his blood replaced with piss and vinegar. It was a bad Christmas.
- speedk0re, on 06/10/2008, -0/+2i like the fake hot one on TV better
- rv36116, on 06/10/2008, -0/+2Welcome to ***** surgery central. Yay, you're dumb enough to let MD's do joint replacements like a hobby!
The only replacement surgery worth having that is rather easy to come back from is a hip replacement, but you're still pretty limited in what you can do w/the replacement other than normal everyday walking.
The shoulder surgeries suck ass, she's lucky she can move her arms after having both replaced. Knees are usuallly decent, but she got them done in the 90's, so they're probably going to need to be removed and replaced again soon.
I'm a therapist, I see this all day long.
She's not bionic, she's somebody's summer house and boat purchaser, thanks lady, you just made Dr. Smooth's family very happy!- AngelaQ, on 06/10/2008, -0/+1I hope she's given up climbing ladders. Those artificial joints weren't meant to last a lifetime.
This happened in England, where people who need treatment get it. Nobody got rich over it.
- AngelaQ, on 06/10/2008, -0/+1I hope she's given up climbing ladders. Those artificial joints weren't meant to last a lifetime.
- shieldss, on 06/10/2008, -0/+2Does she have a really bad fake American accent like the abomination of a TV show from last year?
- jbenze, on 06/10/2008, -0/+0I had both hips and both knees done last year, having both elbows and shoulders done this year. I'm most annoyed that she beat me...
- s4g4n, on 06/10/2008, -0/+2Don“t piss her off, her limbs are made from plastics
- mrgoat, on 06/10/2008, -0/+3***** me! Daily Mail spam on the front page again.
Anyone know who they use to spam digg? I would like to hire them, as there ain't NO WAY that mail readers are digg users. - s2ao, on 06/10/2008, -0/+2Daily Mail, please bury
It's the UK equivalent of fox news (although it's really hard to be as bad as Fox) - Frisbinator, on 06/10/2008, -0/+1What is bionic about barely-functional joint replacements?
- vichussmith, on 06/10/2008, -0/+1Wow, from looking at the pictures, you can see how her shoulders are so different compared to the average person. Fascinating.
- GazP, on 06/10/2008, -0/+1http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2008/06/09/article- ...
I swear in that xray, shes left her Nokia N95-8gb next to her!! - marthafocused2, on 06/11/2008, -0/+0WOW!!! Thats all I can say, well, perhaps one more thing....where can I get some Bionic legs?
