There is nothing wrong with that, because it is a business where they can and have to be extremely picky. She needs to put up a head shot with a talent agency where she can get jobs here and there, but she doesn't need to be making a huge scene out of this. Her case is not new or original. There have been hundreds of thousands of girls turned down who look just as good as she does. That's the nature of the bidnez.

      Beauty contests never pick the hottest, there is always SOME talent involved, if not much. So no big surprise she could win a beauty pageant but not be a model.

Also, the more curvy a woman is the more tailored a garment must be so that it presents in the way the designer wants it to and that can create all sorts of complications during a show.

        But since they are hiring women based on appearance in a job that is based on appearance then I guess they can use whatever criteria they think is best. It doesn't mean that this girls is fat, or that she is unattractive. It just means that the agency thinks she doesn't fit what they are looking for.

Most of the women in Playboy would be rejected as clothing models (their loss is our gain). What the fashion industry is looking for in models doesn't necessarily coordinate with what most men would consider hot. There are exceptions. I dated a model in Seattle a few years ago, she was 5'11 and easily an 8-10. Never had trouble getting work. She did a lot of work in Japan. Apparently they like those giant barbarian women over there. ;)

      Too bad she was an 8-10 dress size and a 14-16 bitch size. Guess if I had to live on a starvation diet of wheat thins and beer I might be a little crabby myself.

      So it sounds like her "size 12" is actually what the majority of diggers know as a size 8 or 10 -- which is a huge difference, at least in the US.

I had a friend in college who later did some male modeling and he said it was the easiest job you could ever imagine. He worked enough real jobs to see that all models were grossly overpaid for the little amount of "work" that went into each shoot.

      The other thing is there are thousands and thousands of girls who are extremely pretty who are trying to be models. Its a completely flooded job pool. Its statistically next to impossible to make a living doing it. Just because you are hot doesn't mean you'll get to be a model. There are 100 insanely hot girls up for each modeling contract with an agency. You know what gets you the contract? Dumb luck, that's it.

      this concept has everything to do with either the selection practice is central to the operation of your core business. if it is, it is exempted by Title 7 (equal employment law).

      In modeling, especially on the catwalk, they want a slim girl, because truthfully she uses less fabric for the clothing. What I think most people don't understand is that the modeling industry is tough and there are alot of good looking people out there chasing the same dream. I admit, she's pretty, she photographs well, but that just doesn't cut it anymore. You have to have more than just a nice body and good looks. She would probably do well in print ads or even acting, but sometimes you just have to accept limitations in life. She should be happy, Im sure there's more than enough over weight woman dying to look like her.

The models are selected to show the women that attend the shows what they would look like if they were thin which is their dream. Similarly, the gay guys at the shows aren't looking at the women in the clothes, they're looking at the clothes.

However your standard department store models, lingerie models and beauty pagent girls are always height/weight proportionate. So in the end, this girl was probably asking the wrong model agencies.

What fashion designers think is ideal for their shows and what guys think is hot are much different.       Wow. All of the talk on here completely justifies at this point all of the hatred towards fat people. They seem bitter, hateful, jealous, lonely...all the things that people tend to accuse obese people of being.
