- tykwondingo, on 10/07/2008, -3/+12Of course it's a lie. I can't believe the article didn't mention the fact that 90% of "light" cigarettes have more nicotine in them than "regular" cigarettes. Go natural.
::lights up American Spirit, Perique Blend::- Narcowski, on 10/07/2008, -3/+3Or, you know, don't smoke?
Or grow your own, cut out the pesticides. - tykwondingo, on 10/07/2008, -0/+2No thanks.
American Spirit's natural organic perique blend = no pesticides.- Endrian, on 10/07/2008, -0/+5You're sounding a bit like an advertisement here.
- tykwondingo, on 10/07/2008, -1/+2Holy *****, I do, sorry.
I would totally advertise for them... people are going to smoke regardless. Not a bad idea Endrian. - OiPunk, on 10/07/2008, -0/+1Spirits are totally the way to go.. a bit more expensive, but better taste and a little bit better for you.
- texpundit, on 10/07/2008, -1/+2They also give me a massive headache when I try to smoke them. :(
- awtripp, on 10/07/2008, -2/+1They give you a massive headache because you're smoking more pure tobacco and less *****. Ever try to take a big rip on pipe tobacco? Yeah. Brutal.
I smoke Nat Sherman Natural's myself. But I do love a good Marlboro Red. I can definitely feel the difference between them when smoking though. - tykwondingo, on 10/07/2008, -0/+2They've never given me a headache.
I love Nat Sherman's Mint. So good...
- Caulfield, on 10/07/2008, -2/+2You ***** hippie. Gimme a deck of Reds.
:)
(actually not a smoker) - singularityv, on 10/07/2008, -3/+1The periques are interesting. They're one of the only non-cloves I actually like.

- MattB123, on 10/07/2008, -0/+2I like his vulva-shaped snout. But it doesn't make me want a cigarette.
- zerton, on 10/07/2008, -3/+5Light cigarettes really seem less harmful to my lungs. But it could all be in my head and not in my chest.
- MWeather, on 10/07/2008, -0/+8It's in your head. There is no light tobacco. They just poke holes in the filter.
- KaseyCarbone, on 10/07/2008, -2/+14So it's not true that low tar cigarettes are perfectly healthy? And here I've been smoking 5 packs a day... I FEEL SO USED.
- dannythepan, on 10/07/2008, -5/+0I want in on this money
- NonLeftistDiggr, on 10/07/2008, -5/+170 sympathy for anyone "misled" by the label on "light" and "low-tar" cigarettes, may their lawyers burn in hell too. A smoker damn well knows deep down what they are buying regardless of the advertising.
- SaperKain, on 10/07/2008, -7/+6This is conservative supreme court. 4 out of 9 judges are ***** insane. Big tobacco will win no question about it.
- tourettes1992, on 10/07/2008, -8/+11I enjoy my right in being able to enjoy cigarettes. I get it, smoking cigarettes will give you cancer, but I along with millions of other smokers enjoy the sweet, subtle flavor. I love Camels, Turkish blends are the shizznat.
- jerrycurley, on 10/07/2008, -9/+4fine...don't ever take a penny of health care that you don't pay 100% for. (That includes your own insurance.) And don't ever call in sick due to smoking related illness.
- johnroth, on 10/07/2008, -11/+5jerry is right. And if you have or end up having a wife and kids sit all them down for a family meeting and explain to them that you don't care if you end up dying early or suffering from painful cancer that takes an incredible amount of money to treat. You look at them and you say to your children, who probably rely on and love you and you say "These Turkish Blends are so goddamn good they're worth leaving all you little ***** behind."
- saltydawkins, on 10/07/2008, -0/+9By that standard you could cut 90% of health care due to "probable cause of illness".
- Recidivus, on 10/07/2008, -1/+9Same goes to car drivers, fast food eaters, alcohol drinkers, electronics consumers, the list goes on and on about things we know are bad for us but we continue to do it. Why pick smokers out of the lot? Why would I have to pay out of my pocket when some chub chub gets a free ticket?
- Hetman, on 10/07/2008, -1/+2Good reason for no universal health care if you ask me. As mentioned above. If you cut out smokers you have to cut out motorcycle drivers, high risk jobs cops firemen etc. Fatties, whores "more likely to devolope STD's" etc the list goes on and on.
- jerrycurley, on 10/07/2008, -2/+1Recidivus...driving cars i a benefit to society. Fast food is not bad from you insmall quantities, nor is alcohol. There is nothing wrong with electronics...etc. Smoking has ZERO benefits to people or society, and hurts your body from cigarette #1.
- jerrycurley, on 10/08/2008, -1/+1Hetman...again...no you don't. You are a simple minded individual if you think your analogy is valid. EVERY decision is life is based on risk/benefit. Thre is ZERO benefit (bot to society and the the individual) to smnoking a cigarette. There is a benefit to being a policeman, fireman, etc., and even for riding motorcycles, etc.
- Scorps111, on 10/07/2008, -1/+2@tourettes1992
you tried Turkish cigs called Next they are actualy alright.
I live in the UK and tend to buy Regal or L&B and lucky strike if i can find them :P

- MWeather, on 10/07/2008, -0/+5I've only ever heard tobacco companies claim light cigarettes have less tar according to FTC testing.
- NoHardFelines, on 10/07/2008, -2/+4"As he lights an American Spirit, he asks how I smoke such *****. I say there's nothing like chain smoking GPC cigarettes, cause any smokes will kill you, but these will make you feel like it."
- kocurejd, on 10/07/2008, -0/+3Dammit. Looks like I picked a bad time to quit smoking. I could have sued the ***** out of these guys.
- leonardutah, on 10/07/2008, -0/+1I picked the wrong day to quit sniffin' glue!
- WyldeJ, on 10/07/2008, -11/+6I lie in here, beside the whitewashed wall,
My hair is gone, my head is bald,
The room is sterile and it's very cold,
Wish you were here, Dad, I need someone to hold.
I can't breathe, I'm on a machine,
It goes whirr and click, it's such a din,
I've got lung cancer, it's all black inside,
When Mom says smoking causes cancer, Dad, I think she lied.
I never lit up, even when you did,
I just sat next to you, a small little kid,
You huffed and puffed through your life, Dad,
And Mom always looked so very sad.
My friends asked me to smoke, but I never did,
Because Mom told me from young: smoking is stupid,
It soots up your lungs and blackens your teeth,
So when I see a smoker, Dad, I anger and seethe.
You smoked two packs a day but you're still healthy and strong,
I hate smokers, Dad, but I never thought you wrong,
I love you, Dad, I always sat next to you,
And I know that you always loved me too.
The room here is cold, I see you through the glass,
And I think back to long ago, Dad, of times past,
Of the memories, I recall as much as I can,
There's always been a cigarette, Dad, stuck inside your hand.
I remember the fun things, Dad, all the times we had,
But as I look at you from here, you look so very sad,
You're not smoking, Dad, no cigarette I can see on you,
Maybe it's just the hospital, and this is the ICU.
My breathing becomes labored, I don't think I'll live,
Well, I tried my best, I gave all I had to give,
But one thing, Dad, I cannot comprehend,
I'm not a smoker, so why is my life about to end?
How depressing was that poem about smoking?- FishHammer, on 10/07/2008, -3/+10Retarded and inaccurate because you can't get lung cancer from second hand smoke. If the dad didn't get it from smoking 2 packs of cigarettes a day, there's no way the kid is going to inhale even CLOSE to that much, unless he was sitting with a funnel above his dad's cigarettes inhaling. This is the kind of stupid ***** that gives the anti smoking lobby a bad name.
- Scorps111, on 10/07/2008, -4/+2Incorrect, there was a famous presenter in the UK that used to play for brass bands as a teenager. later on in life he developed lung cancer through passive smoking even tho he never smoked a single fag his hole life.
- Recidivus, on 10/07/2008, -0/+6Isn't it possible he just developed lung cancer from living in a populated area with other forms of pollution?
How do they tell the difference between tobacco related cancers and non-tobacco related cancers in non-smokers? - MaynardJK, on 10/07/2008, -1/+3"How do they tell the difference between tobacco related cancers and non-tobacco related cancers in non-smokers?"
They can't. It is all ***** propaganda.
- NoHardFelines, on 10/07/2008, -0/+4This is the kind of stuff that makes me lose faith in young writers. Just because it's deals with a sad topic doesn't mean it's actually sad, and just because it's sad doesn't mean it's good. People need to put some actual heart into their writing.

/emote wonders when we'll see the first lawsuit due to someone claiming to get cancer for watching TV. - brmast, on 10/07/2008, -1/+8'...a massive fraud on the smoking public'? Smoker or not, the general public should be well aware of the negative reprecussions of smoking by now. This is a joke.
- Shaman760, on 10/07/2008, -0/+9Wow this is so a priority right now.
- Icetype, on 10/07/2008, -6/+1Nobody in my generation I know smokes anyway (mid 20's).

- Icetype, on 10/08/2008, -0/+1Lol, actually I live in a liberal city where you can't smoke in public places. None of my friends smoke. If you want to smoke, go for it, I don't care. But where I live it's about as "cool" as sagging your pants to look like an idiot.
- zigardne, on 10/07/2008, -1/+1leave your parents basement and meet some people
- SportsAnna, on 10/07/2008, -2/+2Nick Naylor could totally win this case.
- Scorps111, on 10/07/2008, -0/+2Regal King Size FTW!
Marlboro ***** no thx - Addicuss, on 10/07/2008, -0/+3in the case of smokers who smoked 20+ years ago then yeah.. i think theres a case to be made.. now though? People are 100% aware and constantly reminded of the dangers of smoking. They do it anyways. As much as I hate the tobacco industry I cant say these people have anyone to blame but themselves.
- PunkJohnnyCash, on 10/07/2008, -0/+3It seems wrong to sue over their choosing to do something that has been so obviously marketed as unhealthy and still they chose to do it. I need a cigarette.

quick you need to start smoking now so you can get in on the money here.- KillsTheWeak, on 10/07/2008, -0/+1I used to light mine off the fry station lamps at Sonic Drive-In. I tried the grill, but the grease soaked up my cig.
- PunkJohnnyCash, on 10/07/2008, -0/+2light it off the stove...
- AndrewMoyer, on 10/07/2008, -0/+2"Light" cigarettes generally have a lower amount of "tar" per unit of nicotine, when compared to the "full flavor" variety from the same brand. When you're smoking because you're badly addicted, the less tar the better because all you want to do is get your craving to subside. Not necessarily less nicotine or tar overall, and certainly not consistent between brands. Keep in mind, these figures come from a robotic smoking machine that smokes in a way that is not at all representative of how real people smoke (who tend to compensate for the lighter smoke by taking bigger drags and covering the holes unconsciously.)
Still, "there is no safe cigarette."
Glad I kicked the habit... - Hetman, on 10/07/2008, -0/+5Can we all just agree that cigarettes are not good for you. Just like high cholesterol alcohol etc. Let me tell you something light beer is not really light beer. It has less alcohol so you have to drink twice as much of it to get drink. Actually taking in more alcohol. But all of the above are personal choices so if you want do them fine. Just stop complaining about the side effects.
- Skooma714, on 10/07/2008, -0/+1BUT I LOVE HIGH CHOLESTEROL ALCOHOL!
It's made with the grease you see on top of pizza and ribs. - Hetman, on 10/07/2008, -0/+2It sounds so disgusting yet I want it. I am never satisfied.
- Skooma714, on 10/07/2008, -0/+1BUT I LOVE HIGH CHOLESTEROL ALCOHOL!
- anillop, on 10/07/2008, -0/+5Alright its court season again. I love this time of year too bad it doesn't get real interesting until the playoffs.
- singularityv, on 10/07/2008, -2/+2Real smokers avoid lights like the plague.
*prepares to take another smoke break to light up a clove* - Skooma714, on 10/07/2008, -1/+1They won't hear a case about redress of grievances but they'll hear a case about more whining smokers?
