Just like everything else on the planet.- psogle, on 07/22/2008, -1/+4They are definitely unsafe. I used to drink one or two a day and at times my heart felt like it was going to pop out of my chest, so a little more unsafe than movie popcorn butter which will just kill you slowly
- cquinnd, on 07/22/2008, -0/+4" I used to drink one or two a day "
That counts as abuse or overuse. You are supposed to give your body time to recover between uses, or figure ways to compensate for the side effects.

- MajorJJH, on 07/22/2008, -0/+8Pretty much a case of "Everything in Moderation"
I'll be a lot happier when people stop reporting on every thing that is dangerous to have too many of!
Side note, anyone else get the "Ask Bethea" ad up there? "Free astrological reading today!" Oh yeah, perfect for the Digg crowd, as if we don't give those people enough crap without them coming to look for it!- MEatRHIT, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1Indeed I have an "Ask Bethea" ad... I miss my snorgtees' girls.
- jonxblaze, on 07/22/2008, -1/+5These drinks are highly addictive...if you are not a coffee drinker then you wouldn't understand. It took me a while to stop drinking these!
- chris1234, on 07/22/2008, -0/+4Coffee is pretty good, but it can't deliver the caffeine jolt like energy drinks can... but, i guess that's probably one of the reasons why they are dangerous. I guess everything in moderation.
- Bukowsky, on 07/22/2008, -0/+4you must be drinking the wrong kind of coffee!
Anything coffee with the words 'French Roast' or 'Colombian' on the package, gives me a major caffeine buzz! - jonxblaze, on 07/23/2008, -0/+2The weird thing is at my office..there are days when I get a good buzz from a cup of coffee and days that I don't. We drink the the same kind every day. I wonder if one of my co-workers is secretly spiking my coffee?
But yeah stay away from those energy drinks..they are bad news!
- Bukowsky, on 07/22/2008, -0/+4you must be drinking the wrong kind of coffee!

- socialpyramid, on 07/22/2008, -0/+7I think all energy drinks are nasty personally. I did see this funny looking Turkish one the other day in a Brooklyn market tho...
- ganus, on 07/22/2008, -0/+6I stopped drinking energy drinks about 2 years ago.
- MRAS, on 07/22/2008, -1/+6Mixing beer and a energy drink you will have lower inhibitions with the energy to try something new!!
- 01GoldDigger, on 07/22/2008, -0/+6one of my coworkers is addicted to NOS- he tried to get me hooked and i said "hell no!"
- drmobutu, on 07/22/2008, -0/+7I doubt energy drinks can be all that much worse for you than regular soda...I mean, they don't even work that well. I usually avoid them, just because of the corn syrup...
When it comes to energy drinks, there is only one Real Thing...the original formula Coca-Cola...- jonxblaze, on 07/22/2008, -0/+4You obviously have not heard of "Red Balls"...the energy drink choice of crackheads!
- Nomadelle, on 07/22/2008, -0/+5You must be drinking the wrong kind of energy drinks!
- cquinnd, on 07/22/2008, -0/+5Most energy drinks are regular soda, with a greater concentration of the elements that normally give you a buzz.
I switched to Rockstar "JUICED" drinks a while back specifically because they are not based on corn syrup formulas, and even then I have learned to cut back significantly.
- wtfersk8s, on 07/22/2008, -1/+6B12 shake>any energy drink
I take No Xplode every morning to get me through the day. It also helped me focus in class better, thus improving my grade. Lemonade version ftw.- MEatRHIT, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1NO-Xplode is great no sugar no aspartame and you don't need much for a bit of a kick in the morning. I only take it if I am really dragging in the morning though... and of course before I work out.
- j5uh, on 07/23/2008, -0/+5i love my monster drinks!!!
- lisapham, on 07/23/2008, -0/+5The energy drink makers will not be too happy with this article...
- nblsavage, on 07/23/2008, -0/+5Why are most energy drinks fruit flavored? They're either overly sweet or taste like cough medicine (I'm looking at you Red Bull). I've only seen one so far that was cola flavored (Howling Monkey)
- TalSiach, on 07/23/2008, -0/+5well if you drink Vodka Red-Bull there are lots of risks....... i can say it from experience ;)
- jonxblaze, on 07/23/2008, -0/+2Yeah risk of getting wasted!!! That combo always gives me a headache!
- Bukowsky, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1maybe. But that's a tasty drink.
- skewl, on 07/23/2008, -0/+4Energy Drinks + Alcohol = Danger.
- LegendX, on 07/23/2008, -0/+4You are only in danger of them if you drink them like an average thrist quencher. I find if you sip it like drinking champagne you don't burn energy as quickly. Plus you save a lot of money on drinks. Just my word of advice.
- maddvibe, on 07/23/2008, -0/+4A couple times I've had anxiety attacks after drinking energy drinks. Obviously I don't drink them anymore. I do like the taste of them, they are strangely addictive.
- RobotHuman, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1Energy drinks + alcohol = Sparks = Delicious!
