- digg it
- seaner, on 10/12/2007, -6/+39It is great to see Digg even more mainstream and on Google.
- N080dy, on 10/12/2007, -10/+10Absolutely, this is a great move for both.
- beelz, on 10/12/2007, -4/+22digg + google = rocks
- vexter, on 10/12/2007, -7/+17That really is a nice addition to google. I wonder how long before it starts to annoy me?
- ramibotros, on 10/12/2007, -32/+27This is not only for Digg. Stop these stupid comments about Digg+Google. Any developer can go here and create his own subscribed links: http://www.google.com/coop/docs/guide_subscribed_links.html
And I had submitted something before you, kevin. It made it to the frontpage, too, anyways. http://www.digg.com/technology/Google_Press_Day_2006_Announcements - chesterjosiah, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7MOD ramibotros up. He's responding to N080dy's comment, "Absolutely, this is a great move for both." In other words, ramibotros is just staying that this isn't a Google-Digg partnership like Google did with Sony for the Da Vinci Code contest. Anyone can create a co-op.
Anyway, I just did a Google search for Miyamoto tennis in search of that recent post on digg with the video of Miyamoto playing tennis on Wii. None of the normal Google search results had it, but lo and behond at the top, in green! The co-op link had the digg post I was looking for. :-) Brilliant! This means that I will no longer need to go to Digg to search for a story I previously read. I CAN JUST SEARCH FOR DIGG STORIES ON GOOGLE.Kinda scary, but still. . . . Brilliant!
- nato64, on 10/12/2007, -12/+7Awesome! Sounds really cool.
- deltaechoromeo, on 10/12/2007, -5/+81Google just got that much smarter. I like the idea of professionals being able to find things that are relevant to their jobs with every search.
- tysonhy, on 10/12/2007, -9/+14This is great stuff, I subscribed to it. Also, it's great to see how much digg is expanding!
- bscott86, on 10/12/2007, -31/+7Hopefully this will mean more traffic for Digg. Google is a pretty big deal around here. A partnership with Google is a pretty big deal around here.
- mecanabis, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15its not really a partnership. anyone can sign up. but its still a nice feature
- tedwardo2, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5He's right. It's not a partnership. It's more of a... co-op.
- chaosmachine, on 10/12/2007, -12/+139digg, google, and submitted by kevin rose.. hm.. i wonder if this will make the front page? ;)
- kevinrose, on 10/12/2007, -11/+108nice icon, looks strange seeing it on that side of the comments..ha'
- Universal, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11Why didn't I think of that? ;)
Neat-O. Digg
- jgee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12I'm a little confused, I see what this is supposed to do, but is it working right now? I tried a google search, and came up empty handed..Can someone please explain this, its a bit unclear.
- kevinrose, on 10/12/2007, -8/+57hold tight all - looks like they are rolling it out tonight - try again in another 30 mins or so...
- PathDaemon, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6It's working for me. I typed a common Digg term and saw results under the Sponsored Results box.
Nice, Kevin et. al.! - EliW, on 10/12/2007, -6/+7If your search doesn't return any results, then try again. As Kevin stated it's still being rolled out and service may be a little intermittent this evening.
- crjones, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3Im having the same problem. It said I was "subscribed" but a search doesn't show anything about digg.
- curtissthompson, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6Yeah it is up and running now for me...Very nice to see Google, the large corporation that it is, recognizing Internet start-ups, just as they were once upon a time at Stanford University! This will definitely be a useful addition. Thanks Kevin and company!
- fudged71, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3obvious, but make sure you're signed in :D
- immure, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Also make sure you're using the .com address, for me .co.uk doesn't work.
(Compare http://www.google.com/search?q=linux to http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=linux) - Eloom123, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@immure thats exactly what it is, my defult is the .com.au site, I went to just .com and now it works. I guess I'll have to wait for .au to catch up!
- bpapa, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Ummm can somebody give me a little background on what the frick this little google app is?
- deltaechoromeo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6It adds some extra searches at the top of your Google Search Results. Those results can be personalized by subscribing to some content providers that Google has programmed in, like Digg, or People Magazine, or the Mayo Clinic. So you find searches that are more relevant to your interests.
- goob, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Whenever you search for something on Google, the results page will have a few relevant Digg stories at the top that have something to do with whatever you just searched for.
- bpapa, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Woah, cool. Never heard of this, i'll give it a whirl.
- wayjer, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3How did this all come about Kevin?
- EliW, on 10/12/2007, -5/+5Look under the 'News' section in the coop directory.
- dirtyfratboy, on 10/12/2007, -6/+21Google + Digg = Googg? Doogle?
Either way, the future is here.- relinquish, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16I like the sound of Doogle. Or maybe even Diggle.
- chaosmachine, on 10/12/2007, -2/+26my uncle's dog is named doogle.. and diggle sounds like it might be illegal in 37 states..
- mapkinase, on 10/12/2007, -9/+8How about Giggle? I am giggling right now.
- bobothn, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2that is great chaosmachine
- Nitrodist, on 10/12/2007, -1/+41For those who don't know.. this is what it does..
http://img53.imageshack.us/img53/4597/z2sv.jpg- Poco, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2So this Digg didn't make the Giggle search?
- relinquish, on 10/12/2007, -11/+5Kevin: A little offtopic, but have you considered adding user messaging capibilities to digg? It would be extremely useful to send personal messages to specific users.
- crispyart, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6i hope/pray that would never happen. myspace im is bad enough.
- grendel, on 10/12/2007, -8/+6Digg mobile.
Digg RSS feeds right in my f*cking eye please !
(I want a TM on that slogan)- fletchowns, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Digg mobile would be cool, but the rss works in the mean time
- Tanpreet, on 10/12/2007, -10/+5yo this is great. im happy that its like a partnership type thingy and not a takeover like those rumors about Yahoo and digg. and its great cuz its google!
- Lumiras, on 10/12/2007, -13/+3This is really, really awesome. Kevin, did you have a hand in creating this?
- Mongoose, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Cool. This will probably turn me into even more of a digg whore.
What exactly is Google Co-op? Will it be a social-networking type thing or just little add-ons to your results pages? - Sequence, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3Things that should be added to digg: Private Messaging to specific users and maybe.. a forum where the mods are the users by voting on action to specific topics, something like digg news system.
- grendel, on 10/12/2007, -4/+18^ I'm not messaging none of you.
And I dont want none of you to message me.
Digg works as is.
Lets not turn it into some crappy forum. - mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9wow, digg is currently the only news source for google co-op!
http://www.google.com/coop/directory?cx=news
i'm just realizing how perfect this is. when i'm searching for something tech related on google, i want to able to see what everyone else considers to be the best resource! this is so perfect. - awfulshot, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2At a Glance
Subscribers: 36
Subscribed links: digg- BerenTW, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4ya i saw that... odd that there is 320+ diggs, but only 36 subscribers.
digg and runners... wish there was an option or feature that only registered diggs from people who followed the link. - Wilson, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5I followed the hyperlink but I see no way to subscribe.
EDIT: Oops, Adblock Plus and Filterset.G blocked the Subscribe button. - jgee, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2If it's rss based, prolly is, it takes some time to refresh.
- BerenTW, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4ya i saw that... odd that there is 320+ diggs, but only 36 subscribers.
- thehead21, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2Sweet, Just subscribed this is going to be cool! Good work Kevin and the Digg/Google Team!
- JnOrris, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2Wow, looks like Kevin has some mad-hookups at Google. Very impressive.
- neo7779, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1Digg Team,
Nice to see Digg moving up in the world. Keep up the great work. Just don't let Google take over the design of Digg. :) - Travisrd, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1wow.. digg owns, :P
- Vixenbergen, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15I don't know why people see this as moving up in the world, or having "mad - hookups" with google. This is not an affiliation or partnership with Google in any way.
Look at this feature as just another one of Google's apps, like Gmail, Google Calender, etc. This is Google Co-Op, and it's just another service. I could make any website in 5 minutes, sign up with Google Co Op, and google will search within my website and show relevant results with user's searches (who are subscribers). Not to detract from Digg's "victory" but judged on the comments, this is way overblown.- jayadelson, on 10/12/2007, -1/+29I will offer some counter points to this, in that it did require a relationship with Google. First off, Google selected some partners to pre-code the feature for today's release. It was not just an announcement of a specification to which we coded and crossed our fingers. Second, because we were first, it required a long, detailed relationship with Google as they developed the specifications and we helped engineer the code on our side, tested it prior to release, and ensured a smooth roll out. We were very happy to have been able to engage with Google directly in this process. More importantly, we're lucky to have Eli on our team who does a fantastic job coding. Good work, man.
This is not to say others can't create co-op modules, they can, absolutely. However, speaking from the inside, I can say we enjoyed the partnership with Google to make it happen and are honored to be first in line.
I never would use the word "victory" or "moving up in the world,"...though still I think it's pretty cool. :)

- Disodium, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1wow very nice. Very impressed :D
- calebcharles, on 10/12/2007, -5/+0I would like to take this time to digg for the first time. Thank you, Thank you very much. Excelsior!
- nayr74, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1This is so cool I almost sobered up after checking it out.
- dayquil, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2People, please relax, nobody's pulling strings. Jeesh. It's just a thing you sign up for and do.
- aplardi, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Really good feature, the next thing we need is a Digg content feature for Google iG that allows you to DIGG from the iG homepage!
All of these little features really add up on this site, without adding to complexity! Great stuff, keep it up. - rusdude, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Yeah, it'd be nice if Kevin could comment in the blog/diggnation how this came out. The News.com (CNet) article just says "the companies are not paying to participate in the subscription part of Google Co-op, she said."
- regriff, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I'm diggin' it. It's a nice feature to have. It adds flare to my daily google searches. Thanks Kevin!
- praveens, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1like you login and search everytime
- Universal, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1One word; AWESOME!!!
- AF-Geek, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3Digg + Google, I think I may wet myself!
Nice job Kevin. You keep coming up with great innovations that make everyone go, "Why didn't I think of that!?" - regriff, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2Even better, wouldn't it be a nice feature to be able to submit a story to digg buy clicking a DIGG IT button located next to all of your search results from google? Whereby the script collects the URL, Title (URL name), and Description (google preview of text) and populates a "Submit a story" form for you. Now that would be helpful!
- nerdler, on 10/12/2007, -15/+3Lame. This isn't a partnership. Anyone can do this.
- KillaGoat, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Report it then, I'm *sure* they'll take it off the front page :/
- affanjam, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Sweet I was Subscriber # 100
:( how come it doesn't show all the subscribers - Maxington, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1I have it a love it.
- calabria, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2way cool!
- Cinder6, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3It's working, albeit imperfectly. For example, if I type "playstation 3", I get no digg results, but if I enter just "playstation", I do. I haven't seen a multi-word search string show the Co-op feature yet.
It sounds cool, though. - FormulaOne, on 10/12/2007, -6/+4
This is one of those features that gets hyped initially, eventually goes nowhere and then it's forgotten. Sorry, but this is lame. - JC4P, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1Whoa!
This digg actually got comments by kevnirose AND jayadelson!
Edit:
GAY! I subscribed to digg and it subscribed me to all the ones in travel and medical too! And it wont let me un-subscribe from em! I dont want those! - fuxjoey, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2It's a good look for Digg, no question. But how does it actually enhance our search experience? I guess Im not completely understand how it works yet.
- subversive1, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1A simple idea that just makes so much sense.
- jzillan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1it enhances your search experience by providing relevant links to articles that matter. the articles you see in the SERPS (search engine results pages) are "FRESH" ....not old or outdated.
- Avalontor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Shouldn't your search site do that already?
- beatniak, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1wow
- micsco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2What I wanna know is how far this content gets integrated. Right now its just a onebox result, but will they start to tune the results so that our search results become more and more adjusted using this new coop tool, and the existing Personalised Search Results.
Oh and WOW!!! No [BETA] tag??? - setec, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Digg is great but I don't use google by itself. Dogpile gives better search results because it provides more than google.com. So, although this partnership will help Digg, its not something I really need or want to use.
- ypct, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Can somebody englighten me how those people got their photo icons into Google?
Example: http://www.google.com/coop/subscribers?user=017771777217723414381&start=220- pedrobeltrao, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4It looks like when you subscribe to a co-op provider Google creates a user profile for you. You can edit your profile info and for example upload a picture to represent your avatar. I figure that's how the pictures got there.
