Earthlink employee recommends Linux on an official Earthlink blog!
earthlink.net — Wow, how cool is this! Earthlink employee Donal Loch Hinman has an article on his Earthlink blog, in which he recommends GNU Linux! ---> " Today, there are literally hundreds of different distributions of Linux, many of them just as easy to use as Windows or Mac." Maybe it's time to move off of P2P-busting Comcast and onto Earthlink!

- schestowitz, on 12/04/2007, -11/+5Wow. That's mainstream. One concern (or pet peeve) is the link to linux.org as the holy grail of GNU/Linux. The looks of this Web site can turn some people off/away.
- monkeestylee, on 12/04/2007, -6/+8meh
- NaziHatinChimp, on 12/04/2007, -4/+20Oh Wow! Super neato! Someone out there recommends linux!
- chingy1788, on 12/04/2007, -7/+1you know something really freaky?
I had a dream once and it had earthlink in it, and now i see earthlink...
It was a company that provided virtual mem over the net
yes i have weird dreams, must have gone nuts and wikied alot that night... - digitallysick, on 12/04/2007, -3/+12earthlink is still a company wow, thanks for the info
- linagee, on 12/04/2007, -4/+7Are they still owned by scientologists?
- slashbot, on 12/04/2007, -1/+7they were owned by scientologists??
- norman619, on 12/04/2007, -0/+2You learn something new every day.
- kungfoolou, on 12/04/2007, -0/+3They are a public company, hence ownership is shared among stockholders. True, Sky Dayton, their founder, is a Scientologist and some original investors are Scientologists. But working for Sky (outside of Earthlink) I never EVER heard him mention it ONCE. Yes, that religion is about as crazy as they come, but why do people harp on that all the time. And this is coming from a deeply anti-religious, devout agnostic.
- linagee, on 12/04/2007, -4/+7Are they still owned by scientologists?
- slashbot, on 12/04/2007, -8/+2Earthlink? Next we'll hear an AOL employee recommending Linux.
Not exactly a compliment there.... - mikedoth, on 12/04/2007, -4/+2He'll probably get fired, heh.
- thenotself, on 12/04/2007, -5/+1i get all creamy when i hear linux in the news
- Hockey13, on 12/04/2007, -1/+9So an Earthlink employee suggested Linux and we should therefore switch from Comcast to Earthlink? Sorry if I don't really see the connection.
- jmonkey, on 12/04/2007, -2/+5OH MY GOD THAT IS F-ING AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- BHSPitMonkey, on 12/04/2007, -0/+6I wonder if their service department helps Linux callers.
- Baelorn, on 12/04/2007, -0/+4http://xkcd.com/278/
- BHSPitMonkey, on 01/21/2008, -0/+1Well-played.
- norman619, on 12/04/2007, -0/+4From experience, the answer is no.
- Baelorn, on 12/04/2007, -0/+4http://xkcd.com/278/
- SovereignGFC, on 12/04/2007, -2/+2I use EarthLink at home and never have any P2P problems, or connection problems period...
- norman619, on 12/04/2007, -2/+2Earthlink is DIAL-UP.
- vertinox, on 12/04/2007, -0/+1Like he said... He hasn't been having any problems with his dial up.
- Bootes, on 12/04/2007, -0/+1They offer more than just dial up. Such as DSL and even cable internet in certain areas.
- norman619, on 12/04/2007, -2/+2Earthlink is DIAL-UP.
- damndj, on 12/04/2007, -0/+6What is more amazing than this Blog is the fact that they still have employees left in the United States.
- vertinox, on 12/04/2007, -0/+1He's probably a well paid shill... living in India.
- MonsterChaOS, on 12/04/2007, -1/+2...and how is this news?
- senatorpjt, on 12/04/2007, -0/+6Earthlink also recommends Scientology.
- vertinox, on 12/04/2007, -0/+1*coughs*
Yep.
- vertinox, on 12/04/2007, -0/+1*coughs*
- chronicRick, on 12/04/2007, -0/+3That front for scientology is still around?
- TheZorch, on 12/04/2007, -4/+1Its better than most Christian churches by a long shot.
- norman619, on 12/04/2007, -1/+4Prison inmate also recommends Linux!
WOOT!!!!! - fani, on 12/04/2007, -2/+2As much as Comcast may suck. Comcast >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Earthlink.
I have Comcast Cable modem with around 12Mbps/2Mbps. ( regularly get spikes to 16Mbps )
and am happy with their service there. Pay $33/month triple play for it.
And WTF with this digg story ? Who diggs this to the top page ? Is it another conspiracy by earthlink to get digg traffic/ad revenue/sympathy subscribers ? - damonic, on 12/04/2007, -1/+2Too bad his job just got outsourced to India...
- WarriorDragon, on 12/04/2007, -0/+3Earthlink has some of the worst customer support I have ever had to deal with.
- alperea, on 12/04/2007, -2/+1Ok, so the logic is: Linux is great, therefore switch to Earthlink, because they don't block p2p traffic?
Who wrote this, Bush? Same logic. 9/11 happened, therefore Osoma is bad, therefore we must invade Iraq NOW! - RaiderWolf, on 12/04/2007, -0/+0I use Linux but I cancelled with Earthlink long ago.
NEWSFLASH: Linux is very good, Earthlink isn't. - DarkNemesis618, on 12/04/2007, -0/+1It may not sound like much, but hey, a recommendation of Linux is always good.
- ThinkFr33ly, on 12/04/2007, -0/+1Why the hell is this news?
- sugarhigh4242, on 12/04/2007, -0/+0Its in the best interest of every ISP to recommend Linux.
All those poor Windows machines doubling as spambots and zombie boxes for DOS attacks are a significant strain on ISP bandwidth.- damndj, on 12/04/2007, -0/+1Not from a technical support perspective.
- damndj, on 12/04/2007, -0/+1Not from a technical support perspective.
- bffoley, on 12/04/2007, -0/+1This would have been an amazing story ten years ago.
Whenever a Earthlink or Netzero commercial comes on TV, I'm amazed they're still in business.
