This script + cron = early death by heart attack- akifbayram, on 10/12/2007, -3/+21Has anybody, besides Micheal Freeman and his buddy, tried this?
- kalleanka, on 10/12/2007, -21/+3What happened to the username and password?
Without the username and password, how could they place the order?
They never typed that in the video, so something tells me they did something extra that is not shown in the video.
The option would be that the username/password is stored somewhere, but they didn't mention it in the video. - lightningrod220, on 10/12/2007, -24/+6Yes, but can it run on [insert iPhone, TiVo, Linux, Wii, PS3, Xbox, etc. here]?
- jcostom, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18@kalleanka
Download the script & read the man page. It's all covered in there. You create a personal config file that contains your username, password, default toppings, etc. - aplardi, on 10/12/2007, -30/+53Anyone else think it would be easier to... call... fax.... go to the website... or hey write a letter and train a bird to carry it to the owner?
- scootinger, on 10/12/2007, -10/+3What I'm waiting for is for them to make it able to order pizza from the Domino's PR department:
"We love to feed the media! Call the Domino’s Public Relations Department at +1-734-930-3741 to order a piping hot Domino’s Pizza for your newsroom or studio."

- nofxjunkee, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16From the README: "if you don't know how to install Perl modules, you're clearly not hard enough to be ordering pizza at the command line."
aplardi: If this is too hard then this script is not for you. Sadly, it's not for me either since dominoes doesn't do online orders in Canada. One day I will order pizza from the command line. - beager, on 10/12/2007, -3/+90pizza_party, much like Domino's Pizza itself, is not compatible with yum

- molecool, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9"Anyone else think it would be easier to... call... fax.... go to the website... or hey write a letter and train a bird to carry it to the owner?"
Uuuuuhhhmmm - NO??!!! I mean it takes you AT LEAST 60 seconds to call and talk to some guy (here in California probably speaks little/broken English) or to go to a website, get to the order page and finalize your order. I can do this on the commandline in less than 10 secs. Hey, it can be 1 second if you set up a bash script with your favorite pizza selections :-) - DigDugDigger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4"Either would allow for individuals other than the owner of the Dominos Pizza account to order arbitrary pizzas (with random toppings even) via the Dominos QuikOrder web server and have them delivered -- resulting in chaos, anarchy and confusion."

Normally I'd have a witty comment after a quote like that but in this case I think its best that the quote speaks for itself.
- diggapleaze, on 10/12/2007, -1/+131how cool would it be to make this a mythtv plugin?

How cool would it be to have a nice flash interface to order a pizza and select toppings with your wiimote? For example, you could drag the crust for the pizza size. - dreamlayers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+26Note that there is a security issue:
http://seclists.org/fulldisclosure/2004/May/0347.html
The script doesn't use SSL (your Domino's password can be sniffed) and it places your base64 encoded password on the command line (it can be read by other logged in users on the same machine via ps and other methods). There's also some interesting commentary on that page:
I believe it may now be in use internally at a large number of corporate organizations (primarily by hard-core coder types who are too focused on the task at hand to get up and go out to get a pizza -- or even to lift up the phone to order one), and installations can also be found on the public Internet. - kosai, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18Too bad it seems to order from Domino's.
- thewhitefedora, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3It can order from Pizza Hut if you change the url. They both use the same web interface.

You're just sitting at your desk working, or surfing the net, and you suddenly have the hankering for a pizza. Just open up terminal and command line your way into a pizza order with no fuss.- yournamehere, on 10/12/2007, -3/+15so at your desk you dont have a phone?
- DrGamez, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8I would just use their online gui. I can specify something a bit more specific and get it just as quick.
- victorc26, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's a nice option to have.
Typing out an order in two seconds sounds good to me.
Now, ordering pizza in Everquest or any other game, that's stretching it a bit though. - archlich, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3EverQuest used to have an ingame /pizza command...

- victorc26, on 10/12/2007, -11/+4True, I'd rather have Home Run Inn or Gino's East, but it's nice to have the option there.

- victorc26, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5That's the result of people burying comment posts just because they don't agree with what they read. I thought the point of burying posts is to remove outright insulting and spamming posts.
But yeah, Domino's has that, fake taste to it. It literally feels like card board when lifting a slice. I'd like to see Connie's, Home Run Inn, and Gino's East get an ordering system similar to Domino's.

- RandoTheKing, on 10/12/2007, -9/+1Or you could just go to dominos.com
...............................- victorc26, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5The point of the whole thing is that one command string can fill and purchase your order. In practice, it's actually a hell of a lot faster than going to the site and jumping from page to page.
- RandoTheKing, on 10/12/2007, -10/+0It takes 5 seconds to order ANYTHING from almost ANY pizza website. It's not ***** hard. This program is ***** stupid. This shouldn't even be on the front page.

- manitoba98xp, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Pizza Hut also uses QuikOrder, so I don't imagine it being difficult to allow Pizza Hut, too. Since it's a command-line tool, this opens up a myriad of possibilities. For instance, a web-based frontend. Or a GUI frontend (using something like zenity or kdialog to produce the GUI). Or even a cell-compatible frontend, going through another server. Wow, just imagine the possibilities.
Too bad it's not available in Canada. :(- maybeway36, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It is open-source, so someone will probably make it work eventually.
