- b3astie, on 07/04/2008, -17/+2But does it have xmb and in game messaging, or trophies?
- MavRevMatt, on 07/04/2008, -1/+7Who cares?
- limezor2, on 07/04/2008, -0/+6Looks like you don't feel very welcomed in here, b3astie, but hey, I hear there is a nice community for people like you. Ebaumsworld.com
- Atomic1fire, on 07/04/2008, -0/+5No
its a demo of an open game...
Networking theoretically could be added due to it being open source
and Im not sure what kind of game trophies a flying squrrial would need
but just take it as it is... A free to play, free to pirate or buy (both legally) (and open source) game. - Dermah, on 07/04/2008, -2/+0Jeeze can't anyone take a joke anymore?
- nmnnotmyname, on 07/04/2008, -0/+6Digg users prefer better jokes.
- Acglaphotis, on 07/04/2008, -0/+6I thought that being funny was a necessity for a joke.
- bonlebon, on 07/04/2008, -0/+9Go Blender!!!
- dullnation, on 07/04/2008, -0/+5Looks dull but dugg for blender.
- ZephyrNinety, on 07/04/2008, -0/+6A video of the demo but no demo?

- Tayloristehsux, on 07/04/2008, -1/+9Reminds me of the good old N64/PS1 days.
- nmnnotmyname, on 07/04/2008, -0/+5Sort of, but it's better than that if you look back once more.
- shamnvik, on 07/04/2008, -0/+19Have everyone seen the movie this is based of?
http://www.bigbuckbunny.org/- MavRevMatt, on 07/04/2008, -1/+6Yes and it's amazing.
- Atomic1fire, on 07/04/2008, -0/+10its more like a 3d short but it was entertaining anyways
- mossblaser, on 07/04/2008, -0/+3Short length, Movie quality

- antdude, on 07/04/2008, -0/+13Blender, not Bender!
- havokdu, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1Why yes of course.
The similarity of both words for non English speakers made the above phrase famous whenever there is an article discussing the 3d creation tool.
- havokdu, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1Why yes of course.

- antdude, on 07/04/2008, -0/+13Blender, not Bender!
- sockpuppets, on 07/04/2008, -2/+11For a moment I thought it said "Bender." I was unsure if I would buy three hundred $1 hookerbots or just one $300 hookerbot.
- CrushThemTorg, on 07/04/2008, -0/+4Hello moderate spender
- scy1192, on 07/04/2008, -11/+4Doesn't look too promising. Big Buck Bunny was only "good" because it was Open Source, we all know that. This game probably won't be anywhere near the standards that the proprietary game makers have set. They need to stop copying Pixar and get some original stuff.
- almondfilter3, on 07/04/2008, -0/+4Its not about copying Pixar or automatically equalling proprietary stuff, which is impossible at this point anyway. These major projects are really promoting open source for a variety of reasons (efficient alternatives to $10,000 software, students, ect). The Bunny project in particular showcased the robust fur system in the newest Blender, which is no small feat. A fur system from a company yielding those results is impressive, even more so being open sourced. Lots of promising stuff here.
- raynevandunem, on 07/04/2008, -0/+4Actually, I just saw the movie this week. For a movie without dialogue, I found it to be a good short. Nothing earth-shattering about the feature's flow, and hopefully won't be milked as a "franchise" (third parties should be able to expand it into new territory if they have the time and talent), but it was good for a non-big-budget animation.
Also, I don't think they were going for Pixar; instead, this would be something that you'd see on an all-animation cable/satellite network's gallery of indy shorts (specifically Nicktoons or Boomerang). Or at least Aardman Animations ("Wallace and Gromit", "Flushed Away"), since the Blender Foundation is based in Amsterdam rather than in Hollywood. - kirado4, on 07/04/2008, -0/+2You just don't get the point of the project do you?
- Oxygen, on 07/04/2008, -7/+3I donno, a video game about a blender doesn't sound that exciting.
But hey, that's just me.- Atomic1fire, on 07/04/2008, -1/+1Blender was the program used to create the game
the actual game is about a squirrel I think- Atomic1fire, on 07/04/2008, -1/+1alright The actual game is about a flying squrrial that throws nuts... (the kind that grow on oak trees)
happy now? - chaos386, on 07/04/2008, -1/+1*whoosh*

Don't get me wrong, I loved me some Spyro...- zwaldowski, on 07/04/2008, -0/+5I wish I could upmod you a million times. That was the video game of my childhood.
- Walkboss, on 07/04/2008, -0/+2There's another guy a couple comments down that mentions Spyro if you want to start living the dream.
- shrewduser, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1spyro wasn't the most original game, it borrowed heavily from other titles in the platformer genre. as does this game
- Cogboy, on 07/04/2008, -0/+4It didn't have to be original, it was good.
- zwaldowski, on 07/04/2008, -0/+5I wish I could upmod you a million times. That was the video game of my childhood.
- jfkf, on 07/04/2008, -2/+2Is there a Linux version?
- nmnnotmyname, on 07/04/2008, -0/+4Ironic.
- kirado4, on 07/04/2008, -2/+2no.. um it's Opensource dude.. of course..
- ninja0, on 07/05/2008, -1/+1No. Its windows, because windows is open source and blender is open source they decided to stick with the windows open source platform.
- scarecrow2k6, on 07/04/2008, -3/+5To all the people who are not excited about this game...well lemme tell ya...open source is the fewcha!!! This might not look shiny but this is the start. A time will come when you or your kids won't have to spend $60 for some fun.
Open source FTW !!! - renumeratedfrog, on 07/04/2008, -2/+5The graphics is rather underwhelming for this day and age. The grass looks like just a single surface, without any plants sticking out of it.
- Atomic1fire, on 07/04/2008, -1/+8except that can be improved
its like the ultimate modding game due to it being open source
- Atomic1fire, on 07/04/2008, -1/+8except that can be improved
- brettalton, on 07/04/2008, -11/+1A PLAYABLE game wasn't actually released, only a movie of a guy playing the game.
Buried.- Atomic1fire, on 07/04/2008, -0/+3the files are provided in a link

- tpfaff, on 07/04/2008, -0/+3spyro the dragon anyone?
- Billistic, on 07/04/2008, -2/+1Man I try blender, why are all 3D programs so hard to use? Why can't it be more like spore for making models....
- Kosher1947, on 07/08/2008, -0/+0Well...3ds Max is pretty simple, and Cinema 4D is incredibly simple to use. The problem is they are expensive to get, Cinema 4D not so much.
Blender suffers from a poor interface design, and a community of people that refuse to take an honest look at it. This makes for a hella learning curve and the need to CONSTANTLY search tutorials. I use Blender/3ds Max/Maya. Blender is good for fast and simple animations, while 3ds Max is what you use for super realistic renders. Maya is best creating CG that will be merged later into video.
