No blackberry plugin? What does that mean? I could take or leave flash. AJAX for the web + h.264 for movies. Just say no to Adobe. I could go on for quite a while about why Flash is just bad for the web overall. As for MMS, i'm quite happy just emailing pictures.. I've been sending MMSs from my iPhone since day one. You can email pictures to phones too, 10digitphone#@carriersmsgateway.xyz ... here's a list of these... I haven't paid for an SMS or MMS in some time. I can even send to email addresses and phones at the same time. Replying works too.

The rest you've listed are good items, and can totally be fixed with software updates which just take time. The iPhone was very obviously rushed. So much so it even made Leopard late. The original iPhone OS X kernel was some early beta of 10.5. The SDK took a long time too. Apple still seems to be tying up loose ends on little things let alone big things.
I'm happy I've been able to use the phone in what I believe now to be an early stage of what's to come. It's still the best phone I've ever used. - SealandRes1, on 07/11/2008, -0/+3I know they are fixable with a firmware update, that's actually what's nice about having an iPhone vs. any other phone. BB/Motorola/palm will add features into their phones by spitting out a new phone every month or so, but Apple just updates the software of their phones adding functionality into exsiting phones (for free).
The blackberry plugin is basically support for blackberry connect. Basically it makes it easier for crackberry users to switch to iPhone. - mrtrik, on 07/12/2008, -0/+1Wait... so updates to firmware are a good thing, rather than buying new hardware. Seems like a big plus to me.
Though your list is comprehensive as to what an iphone doesn't do - and it can be even longer. Like iphone can't make you pancakes...
The majority of the items on your list are of no concern to most users. I've had the original iphone for nearly a year, and I read your list and I nod my head in agreement, all those things are missing. How many have I actually wanted/needed/missed/realized during the year i've had the iphone? 4. I would like to shoot video, I would like to send multiple pics as an attachment, I have wished for copy/paste on half a dozen occasions, and having to reenter usernames/passwords is a pain (I have a long email address).
Otherwise... everything else either has simple ways to do it, or it's not really that important. I realize I can't speak for everyone... but I do believe the majority of users would side with me. it's the 80/20 rule. In exchange for some missing features, I get an intuitive, easy to use, no hassle phone/mobile device, that just works. And I think the majority of the people would agree. Those who don't... hell, honestly, they'll never be happy with anything. They're the ones running they're own linux boxes, bashing Windows, complaining about everything "popular" or accepted by the masses. They hate the ipod, they hate IE, they hate anything simple, convenient and lacking elite status. And frankly - I don't think apple is making products for that group.
- mrtrik, on 07/11/2008, -2/+7Not that interested. 99% of the time flash is implemented poorly, in advertising, or just plain uselessly.
- SSUK, on 07/11/2008, -4/+520000% of statistics are heavily exaggerated.
- wdfadude, on 07/11/2008, -1/+2mrtrik: while I agree that Flash, for the most part, has been widely misused since its inception in the late '90s, it is quickly becoming the standard for embedded video on web pages. Knock out Flash, and you've rendered a lot of video sites useless.
- kibbledbits, on 07/13/2008, -0/+2Flash has been set by by all the rampant marketing done through it. Really With HTML 5 & CSS, Quicktime and Javascript there isn't much you can't do.
Remember Steve Jobs is using the iPhone to get Adobe's Flash support for the Mac to be on par with it's Windows counterpart. Adobe has long neglected Flash on other platforms.
- Kingoftherings, on 07/11/2008, -5/+15Seems like an oxymoron to use OSS on such a locked down device...
- dcstriker, on 07/11/2008, -6/+1trouble activating the phone first!!!
- Mercury821, on 07/11/2008, -0/+37Why do you need a separate app to read Slashdot? Is something wrong with the Safari browser?
- bigsteve, on 07/11/2008, -1/+2You don't. I've been reading slashdot on the iPhone since day one.
- gogog0, on 07/11/2008, -6/+6oboy games digg, bury this submission unless you want to go back to the old days of digg where a handful of people controlled every front page post.
(ps: how sad do you have to be to manipulate digg. seriously, get a life oboy.)- tnoy, on 07/11/2008, -0/+2I've never pay attention to who posts the stories. Its pointless to even care.
- Sephr, on 07/11/2008, -2/+10I didn't announce that yesterday. That app was made a while ago. And this is not SourceForge on your iPhone, this is just their NEWS.
- Sephr, on 07/11/2008, -0/+3I said I, meant "they". I don't work for SourceForge. Sorry.
- freezerburn666, on 07/11/2008, -0/+6so you can get websites on iphones now or something?
- Sid0101, on 07/11/2008, -5/+2I want to get an Iphone. However, I don't want to get the data plan. What steps do I need to take to accomplish this?? Any Diggers?
I reside in NYC.- sneakerelph, on 07/11/2008, -0/+4Why would you want an iPhone without the data plan? that's the entire point of the phone.
- Skahara, on 07/11/2008, -1/+6Steal it.
- ftx437, on 07/11/2008, -1/+3how would it let you install apps from Freshmeat on the iphone when you have to use itunes to install apps?
- bianconeri4ever, on 07/11/2008, -0/+2that was a misunderstanding, I misunderstood "grab the latest releases" for "installation". Fixed now, my bad!
- ftx437, on 07/11/2008, -0/+1ooooooo
i was thinking that if they did that then that app wouldn't be around long.lol
- ftx437, on 07/11/2008, -0/+1ooooooo
- bianconeri4ever, on 07/11/2008, -0/+2that was a misunderstanding, I misunderstood "grab the latest releases" for "installation". Fixed now, my bad!
- Br3ach, on 07/11/2008, -1/+7Buried because there is no tech site I can read this week without SOMETHING ABOUT THE iPHONE on it
- rodrigo74, on 07/11/2008, -0/+1Well, you can always go outside, or go read a book.
- flarn2006, on 07/11/2008, -3/+1I was once at the ThinkGeek HQ
- astrobela, on 07/11/2008, -0/+2"-Can't change order of cities in weather
-Can't change indices in stocks"
Not true. - Balla79, on 07/12/2008, -0/+1Reading Linux news with something you can't use with Linux? I know...You can jail break it, but why not buy something that works with Linux in the first place. I use Linux because I don't like vendor locking like Apple does.
- Disfnord, on 07/12/2008, -0/+2Why is this in the Linux/Unix section and not the Apple section?
- dimitrisokolov, on 07/13/2008, -1/+1
SorceForge is one of the worst designed websites on the planet. Ridiculous to read, bad design and just horrible to look at. It needs a major re-design. - chevriley, on 07/16/2008, -0/+1buried coz if i wanted to read about the bloody iphone i'd just look at one of the seventeen zillion front page articles this week. i came to linux/unix to escape from this...
