- tinker123, on 10/26/2007, -1/+1Most of these distros are not different enough for me to risk the potential hassle of losing support by not having vanilla Ubuntu.
Most of the features are things I can do for myself with vanilla Ubuntu. Since I don't want that much and I can usually avoid altering the sources.list ( death in Ubuntu ) I am just fine.
While having a KDE based Ubuntu would be nice I've gotten used to gnome and have installed the one or two kde apps I miss. Luckily, most of my favorite apps are cross platform and non-desktop specific.
Every since I was in college and discovered the value of cross platform apps with gnu emacs I've aimed for that. You can take your investment in learning an app with you
