- jasonalangraves, on 06/29/2008, -0/+1I have really tried to like Windows Vista Ultimate, but in the end, I just fee like Microsoft financially raped me. No, Vista does not crash as XP did from time to time, but it does lock up quite frequently. The worst thing is, I don't ever see the error report being sent of to Microsoft, which is worrying, because how can they address issues that never get reported to them.
Lately, I have been toying with Ubuntu. Yes, Ubuntu has some major issues of it's own, however it's graphics and user interface puts any of Microsoft's products to shame. While Ubuntu has it's share of problems, and certainly a lengthy learning curve, it's free. Problems do get fixed in Ubuntu, and I must say far more rapidly than with Microsoft's products. While the hardware support with Ubuntu is not as vast as with Vista, the fact that it is free, looks beyond amazing, and runs like a banchee even on a very old and slow system leads me to conclude that unless Microsoft does something to mend the rift they created with Vista, like giving a discount to all of us that were mislead into spending hundreds of dollars on it, Microsoft's reign is over. It's the way business ought to be. Innovate, or go out of business, or get out of the way. I highly recommend Ubuntu. It's on par with Windows, and yeah, has it's problems, but it's free.
Vista is a big steaming pile of feces. Avoid it as you would a big steaming pile of feces!
