HOW TO: Make a wallet made from a computer keyboard

instructables.com — In all likelihood there is a keyboard within a few feet of you. Inside that keyboard there probably is a circuit sheet that makes for a surprisingly durable and thin material for making a wallet.

I think it's a good rule of thumb to never take a picture of your credit card and put it on the internet, never ever ever.

    • zieak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Some keyboards have two sheets on top of each other and you can easily get a wallet out of them. Others only have one circuit sheet though. Even if that keyboard has the 10 key portion it probably will not be enough.

      Circuit sheet wasn't designed for multiple folding/unfolding. It would be only a matter of time before the embedded wires started poking out, tearing up your ass, pants, chairs.
    • jchip, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10While the tutorials method does leave the wallet vulnerable to a fatigue failure, you could avoid that by just making squares of the circuit sheet. Layer over it in packing tape and the packing tape would take the folding and unfolding action.

      I _must_ make one of these... Now to find a keyboard that isn't in use right now.

      Look up "embodied energy", everything you buy has an ecological impact -- reducing that impact is a priority for people who would make such a wallet...like myself.

      Except, I will be trying to fuse (soldering iron through ovenpaper?) or sow (dental floss?) instead of tape.

I have gained valuable insight into what a waste my life has been up until this point, solely because I use a wallet. All that time spent opening and closing that thing and finding things in an organized fashion instead of fumbling around in my pockets through all the Cheetos crumbs to find a wadded-up bill. I've wasted my youth.

      FWIW, I also have a messenger bag, or as I'm sure you'd be quick to point out, a man-purse.

    geek factor is definitely a paramount issue for me..i really like this idea

    the wallet is different, it looks cool and high tech, kinda like a James Bond wallet.

If techies really are the anti-women that we think they are, then all of you diggers can't say crap about how a wallet is going to make you lose women in the first place, cuz you cant get one.

    after all, what would impress a girl more, you using your keyboard to make a wallet, or you using your keyboard to play World of Warcraft and surf p0rn all day.
