- aletornw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Only one question.. is the IR-camera the one who doesn't need light to take pictures?
- listerine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It needs a different spectrum of light, one that we can't see. But to take pictures your need IR lighting.
- theantidote, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Well I'll be damned! I have that exact same camera lying around. How could I not try this? It looks so damn cool.
- BugMeNot2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0.......the result isn't THAT good.
- lilgryph, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yay.. Now perverts can see through swimwear at the pooL!
- chrisbudden, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Try this. Look at a remote control transmitter through a digital camera (the screen) and press a button on the control.
- zone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0first IR hack I saw..

- hammerattack, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You can turn just about any digital CCD-imager based camera into an IR camera. The dirty secret is that CCD images see visual and infrared at the same time. In older camcorders, if you pointed your TV remote at the camera, it would show up on the video as a bright white light. The IR componant plays havoc with automatic color and contrast software, so manufacturers insert an IR filter in the lens array. Replace this filter with a piece of exposed film, and presto chango, you've got an IR camera. Instead of ***** up a perfectly good digital camera, do this to a cheap $20 webcam, or find an older video camera and just cover it with a large piece of exposed film. I would think a video camera would be more fun. You can also use IR LED's from rat shack to make a high intensity array for night time or ultra-low light use.
- republicoftexas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is cool. This may be a dumb question, but here it goes. Is there any radiation problem with modding this? Thanks.

Fu*king sweet! - Fourzero, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Crappy result. Crappy IR torch he made as well!!!
- Starhockey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I've done it with a webcam. What you get is a poor quality IR cam that is pretty fun to play with. Its not going to see through clothes (sorry).
so far i've found fun effects with photographs, exposed film and old post it notes...
any other fun things to look at? - zone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"This is cool. This may be a dumb question, but here it goes. Is there any radiation problem with modding this? Thanks."
lol :) no, you don't worry about that. totally safe. - DarkHorizon5, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Did this to three cheap 5$ cameras. First one, I cracked the lens into about 10 pieces, second I forgot to put the IR filter itself, and third, worked great. Then I tried it on a more expensive sony cybershot, and couldn't find how to get the zoom tube off..
- xinyin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Very cool...
- godmode, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Dont forget to use the PF4 filter that sees through clothes!
- Philbert, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Of course if you have a real-film camera, 35mm preferred, you can buy infrared film for it.
- Namco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Dammit, it's been dugg-to-death... or dugg out.

nice try. - punx45, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0tried it on my fuji finepix 2600. it renewed my interest in the battery drainer. it works.
and if you are going to attempt to use IR film in a 35mm camera, check with the camera manual to confirm that you can. some cameras ruin the IR film.
