- RogerStrong, on 01/29/2008, -1/+38And if he can afford not to care about blocking someone's loading dock, he can afford not to care when someone backs a truck up firmly against the side of his car, and uses the roof of his car as a loading dock extention.

- cawpin, on 01/29/2008, -0/+9I wouldn't advocate ***** with somebody's vehicle in any situation, ever. However, if I use my loading dock to throw trash to the curb, so be it.

My friend was driving his 745iL in the rain and he slammed on the brakes causing him to slide into another car. We both got out and I just wanted to know if everyone was ok. - GeorgeClayton, on 01/29/2008, -9/+13Drivers of exotic vehicles aren't automatically douchebags. A more accurate stereotype, is those who call people with exotic supercars are automatically jealous ignorant fools. Sure some of them got money from mommy and daddy, but many earned their money through hard-work and innovation. Many of you wouldn't understand that as you go to and from your day-to-day jobs. He probably earns enough money that the time needed to park and walk isn't worth it. As long as you pay off your parking tickets and move the car soon enough, they usually can't tow it anyway.
- Kallius, on 01/29/2008, -0/+9You're right, exotic car drivers aren't automatic douchebags. But when they feel that those pesky laws that apply to the commoners really don't matter to them, THEN they are douchebags. Doesn't matter if they cheerfully pay the fine. Parking illegally is not the same as purchasing a good parking spot.
By your condescending post, I'm guessing that you are one of the douchebag-rich, or one of their supporters. - GeorgeClayton, on 02/06/2008, -0/+1Nah, I'm not a rich-douchebag yet, but I'm working on it!

- sampanc, on 01/29/2008, -2/+3It's the most rewarding day that meter-maid will witness in his career. All the other days he's gotta put up with people yelling at him for giving tickets.

- sampanc, on 01/29/2008, -1/+0yea i did. the "traffic warden" was cheered on by the crowd. I can't imagine a crowd cheering her on in any other situation where she would be giving tickets, can you? That cheering from the crowd therefore made that "traffic warden"'s career quite rewarding that day. I don't see how that doesn't make any sense.

- skinrock, on 01/29/2008, -23/+7I saw that, too...so now I'll ask this. Why the hell are they saying it's the owner when he's getting in the passenger seat?
- 3d150n723n7, on 01/29/2008, -0/+22There are two people getting in the car. Check out the guy on the right in the yellow jacket. He's got the driver's door open about to get in.

- Stupidumb, on 01/29/2008, -3/+1"Ya, but the picture is clearly focused on the passenger."
What are you, some kinda art major, huh?! You gotta apply some of the ***** you learned just to justify your life. Talking about composition and ***** is that what you mean? Don't get me wrong, I'm not jealous of you, I just hate that ***** stupid comment. I've had people on Digg directly insult me, but your comment has angered me in a way I did not think possible. That was the stupidest thing I've ever read. I hate you.

- stefugee, on 01/29/2008, -2/+2they both look kinda toolish
- ChrisViz, on 01/29/2008, -7/+14I see nothing more than jealousy in the comments. How can you tell someone looks like a "wanker", "*****", "tool"? You don't like him because he is rich?
He got a good parking space and his parking fine will go towards your taxes... everyone wins.- ivantalboys, on 01/29/2008, -5/+12He is a wanker, ***** and tool because most parking restricted areas are there for genuine reasons. So because he has money he thinks its fine to inconvenience other members of the public just to park a little bit closer to where he wants to go.
- demonstro, on 01/29/2008, -1/+8That parking fine will not go towards our taxes. It'll just get sucked into a huge black hole.
- Kallius, on 01/29/2008, -1/+3Again, you apologists are missing the point. Rich people aren't hated. It's when they get ARROGANT and think they are BETTER than others just BECAUSE they have money, is when they are hated. Or do you feel that just because someone has money makes them a better person?
- Impeller, on 01/29/2008, -0/+1You're a complete dumbass... your comment is the "stupidest" i've read in days...

P.S these guys are fairly young, lucky *****:(- Takran, on 01/29/2008, -1/+5Veyrons are production vehicles, not customs (though I'm sure you could make arrangements). You'd think that the fact that it was until very recently the fastest production street car wouldn't have gone unnoticed.
- makkaveli19, on 01/29/2008, -1/+4they are production, but almost everything can be customized. when paying 2 million euro's i would expect them to put it where i want it. also it could have been from outside of britain, maybe he came on the ferry. I've seen right hand drive veyrons btw.

- BrewBeau, on 01/29/2008, -12/+3There's a difference between having a nice car and that. Think of how low your self-esteem must be to spend 7 figures on a car.
- Takran, on 01/29/2008, -3/+8If I had the money, I'd buy one of those in an instant, and not to show off; those are ***** hot cars. Maybe they like Bugatti? You all know what assuming does: makes an ass out of you and some guy named ming.
- RomeyRome, on 01/29/2008, -1/+7It's all about proportions. You live in a $400k house, you buy a $50k car. You live in a $8m mansion, a million on a car is about right.

- Bodhinature, on 01/29/2008, -2/+5I had a guy park his Civic in my driveway blocking me in. My own driveway! He was parking for an event down the street and the streets were full. - sanotaan, on 01/29/2008, -0/+1i wondered why the owner would be bothering with that side (passenger) of the car from the outside anyways. as for the steering wheel position, i don't believe bugatti's line extends to include that particular car for the english market--so he's got to deal with left-hand drive.
- Bodhinature, on 01/29/2008, -2/+2And here we can witness the douchebag in his natural habitat...

- se1zure, on 01/29/2008, -20/+6so everyone who parks wherever they want automatically does it because they think they are above the rules.
Sorry, But if I drive a car the price an upper class home I would welcome any tickets as a no ***** door ding fee.- RogerStrong, on 01/29/2008, -1/+14If you think that driving an expensive car gives you the right to block someone's loading dock, that's fine. That in turn gives me the right to back a truck against it and use it as an extended loading dock platform.
- Aensland, on 01/29/2008, -2/+12You're a ***** moron. You're not supposed to park in certain places because there's a good reason -- e.g. fire hydrant, near corner and possibly obstructing view of traffic, etc. Btw my area has plenty of ***** like you who think they can park anywhere they like e.g. at corners just because they drive huge ***** SUVs. I take great joy in scraping against their sides as I make the turn. Parking spots exist for a reason, asshat.

Who doesn't get irritated when some rich bloke thinks he can park wherever he likes? that normal parking rules do not apply to him.
(or that any parking fine he may get is just loose change to him, now if they towed his car away that would be another story)- sittered, on 01/29/2008, -14/+8There should be a graduated penalty the more the car costs...I'm thinking a sledgehammer to the windshield is the proper punishment here.

- stephant, on 01/29/2008, -11/+30What leads you to believe that he thinks he can park anywhere he wants? Oh, I get it, class warfare. You hate whoever this is because they might be rich (I suppose someone cleaning the car could have parked it there but he's guilty by association so it's a moot issue). And if you're rich you always think you can park anywhere you want. God forbid he parked there to run in for second to do something thinking he just might get lucky and not get a ticket (no one here has EVER done such a thing). Or even worse, maybe he didn't realize it was a loading zone. Nope, with your input I've decided he's a rich and he's an ***** that thinks that because he's rich he can park anywhere he wants. Seriously though, I hope me or you don't ever become successful or win the lottery or whatever because we'll have to give away all our money so we won't hate ourselves. Man rich people suck.
Now, just for fun, replace rich with some other group identification such as race. Then we can really get going with this idea of yours.- ghm101, on 01/29/2008, -6/+8all very fine arguments,,, except the arrticle mentions him getting another ticket recently. so it seems to be a habit.

- mabhatter, on 01/29/2008, -5/+3it's england, they still have nobles and a monarchy.... the whole point of the thing is to be better than regular people!
people get upset that the nearly $120 fine for parking isn't enough to deter from parking clearly illegally to pop-in for a quick snack or whatever versus taking time to find a legal spot and pay coin to the meter like the rest of us. Usually with these people they justify that their TIME to find a legal spot is worth more than the $60 for the reduced ticket, and they will have an assistant drive into town later to pay that, again so they're not bothered. THAT is what makes people upset.
Meanwhile the rest of the people on the road have to find a legal spot and avoid hitting this overly expensive car which there's no way they have liability insurance to cover a scratch to the paint on. - RonnieW, on 01/29/2008, -5/+3They would never tow a car that expensive, they once tried to tow my brotherinlaw's alpina, he handed them a form stating that they recieved the car in perfect condition. They wouldn't take that risk :) if they were to damage it, it would cost them a years salary.
- Lythium, on 01/29/2008, -0/+1Funny thing is, there _are_ license plates you can buy (at least in the US - no idea how it works in England) which pretty much do allow you to park anywhere you want - and I'm not referring to the professional plates for police, doctors, and whatnot. You have to be willing to cough up the cash, though, and you have to "know people." So yes: "rich blokes" often really _can_ park wherever they like.
- sanotaan, on 01/29/2008, -0/+2to people of that income stratus, the parking fines are more like "usage fees"--they likely view it as "it costs X pounds to park here"
- sittered, on 01/29/2008, -14/+8There should be a graduated penalty the more the car costs...I'm thinking a sledgehammer to the windshield is the proper punishment here.
- bemyokono, on 01/29/2008, -3/+59I know exactly what the people are feeling. I work at a golf course and constantly see rich old men in their convertable BMW's and corvettes parking where ever the hell they please within the course parking lot. Its like they dont even see the lines drawn on the pavement, so they just decide to park right over them.
- 3Den, on 01/29/2008, -18/+4Would those old men happen to be members of the golf club?
Cause I'll tell you - when I'm old, and buy a membership to a big back yard to play golf in... I'm sure as hell going to park where I please.- Aensland, on 01/29/2008, -1/+10Now suppose some other old fart grazes against your car because you parked at a bad spot? Stay within the lines, what the ***** is so hard about parking properly.
- DEADB33F, on 01/29/2008, -1/+2Seeing how many spaces you can take up in a car park is a fun game I often play.
If you try hard enough you can render 4-5 spaces useless to other drivers.
Disabled parking spaces are a bit trickier, they are much bigger so it's usually quite hard to block more than 2-3.

- ibooz, on 01/29/2008, -13/+44I don't understand why one would feel compelled to linger about and 'cheer' as someone received a ticket? I can assure you that had this been a geo metro, no one would have even batted an eye. by all means, let's delight in another's misery (deserved or not). after all, it makes us feel better about ourselves, no? and I'm sure that ticket was a pittance for whomever drove the veyron.

He probably sees it as the only way to assure that he won't get door ding by some random *****.- skyshock1, on 01/29/2008, -1/+10I'd write it off as part of the cost of owning the car. *shrug* It's probably WAY cheaper to pay parking tickets than repair door dents.

- Campog, on 01/29/2008, -11/+40So, basically a bunch of bitter lower-middle class people gathered around and treated some bobby like a hero for ticketing a rich guy? This guy was obviously a douche for thinking he could park anywhere he wanted, but really, who cares? They act like they are all somehow "sticking it to the man" for the crime of being richer than all of them.
- Hollic, on 01/29/2008, -2/+5Precisely why this is going to be buried, but good point anyhow.
- skyshock1, on 01/29/2008, -3/+8Joke's on them. He probably makes more money just walking from a distant parking spot than the ticket is worth. That ticket probably amounts to a money savings for this guy.
- brucerchapman, on 01/29/2008, -3/+24Who cares about the parking ticket? I'm just excited someone is using their Veyron to run errands in a city instead of locking it up in a Museum. 1001 hp to run downtown and pick up a few things? Now that is awesomeness, right there.
- LuxFX, on 01/29/2008, -4/+133Reminds me of a joke. I can't remember where I heard this, but:
A wealthy NYC stock broker talks with a loan officer at a bank. He says, he needs to go out of the country for a month, and he needed to take out a short term loan for $5,000. The officer asks what he will be using for collateral, and the man hands the officer the keys to his Ferrari, parked outside. The officer accepts, the man finishes the paperwork, the bank moves the Ferrari into their garage, and the man leaves the bank by taxi. A month later he returns and pays off the entire loan, plus the $50 in interest it accrued. Before he left, the loan officer says, "I really shouldn't be so nosy, but everyone here has just been dying for you to get back so we can ask: why would somebody with a $200,000 Ferrari need a $5,000 loan?" The man replies, "I didn't need the $5,000. But where else in New York City could I park my car for a month for $50?"- Samsong, on 01/29/2008, -24/+4Older and more used than Hillary Clinton's vagina.

So they're simply cheering because Mr. Big Shot thought he was above the law and could park wherever the f*ck he wanted. Well, his ass got served, and that's about just RIGHT, so the cheer is understandable. Besides if you look closely, nobody's really cheering, they're just happy about it. My favourite car.
Oh well, not all England is like that, Manchurians are mainly asshats ;) Though in Leeds it probably would have been broken into or vandalised, it would have been out of admiration. - statikuz, on 01/29/2008, -0/+2Do that too many times though and the car will get booted/towed. - asianswoosh, on 01/29/2008, -0/+1Lucky he didn't own the car in South Africa, because when people that rich do stuff like this here the cop will wait for the owner to return then try and get a bribe off him or the crowd will just torch the car.

- christophelyon, on 01/29/2008, -0/+2Don't forget that in most underground car parks, a sports car like the Veyron will not enter nor exit easily, it's cheaper to get a ticket than to scratch the bumper on the ground..

- HadBeans, on 01/29/2008, -0/+5Apparently belongs to Everton football (soccer to you yanks) player Tim Cahill. Wasn't him driving but when you earn 27000 quid a week you can afford a nice little run around.
Don't think the fine will worry him either.- mitch37, on 01/29/2008, -0/+0The Australian, Tim Cahill. Nice.
- custaro, on 01/29/2008, -1/+0That's the first thing I thought when I read the article too - must be Tim Cahill's. There's only a handful of Veyron's in the UK and there couldn't be that many up north. The photo kinda wrecked that assumption but I guess it could be a mate of his?
- christophelyon, on 01/29/2008, -0/+2In Lyon, I've already seen almost a riot against the owner of a Lamborghini Murcielago who had parked his car just before a restaurant in the city center. It wasn't even badly parked, parking was autorized at that spot. The people just felt offended that he was driving a Murcielago... He had to interrupt his lunch to leave immediately with the car so that it doesn't get too damaged, as people were begining to throw all kind of garbage on it.
