7 Reasons “Clone Wars” Will Be Worth Seeing
mentalfloss.com — The latest Star Wars movie, Clone Wars, opens this Friday. We ’ve done our homework on the new movie, and it actually looks pretty good. As the seventh movie in the epic series, we turned up seven reasons why Clone Wars will be worth seeing.
- 1052 diggs
- digg it
- merlin484, on 08/11/2008, -4/+53blasphemy, jar-jars not in the movie
- tibblesnbits, on 08/11/2008, -8/+3Thank God. I don't think that most of us would be able to stand another movie with him in it.
- SilentRamble42, on 08/11/2008, -0/+4Supposedly Jabba the Hutt's son/nephew/whatever is even more obnoxious than Jar Jar.
- Coven, on 08/11/2008, -0/+3Actually, it wasn't that bad. He's pretty much an infant. No lines, just goo-goos and gaa-gaas.
- litolist, on 08/11/2008, -0/+3I never understood why people think he's obnoxious, but yet C-3PO gets a pass.
- Charlotte_Web, on 08/11/2008, -0/+1Aint It Cool News had two reviews of The Clone Wars posted yesterday, by Harry and by Massawyrm, and both of them absolutely hated it.
Oddly enough, though, both reviews have been pulled from the site and I can't pull them up in Google cache. But, just to prove they existed, here's the titles from Google:
"Dammit! Harry hated THE CLONE WARS!"
http://www.google.com/search?num=20&hl=en&suggon=0 ...
"Does THE CLONE WARS suck as bad as the Prequels? Massawyrm says 'ROGER ROGER!"
http://www.google.com/search?num=20&hl=en&suggon=0 ...
And keep in mind that Harry said that he loved the three prequels, so if he says this one sucks, you know it's got to be bleedin' awful.
- sircomix, on 08/11/2008, -1/+5Any word on the level of racial stereotyping in this one?
Lucas is usually good for some big-nosed, money grubbing aliens- Nozferatu, on 08/11/2008, -0/+3They wouldn't be from the superior planet of Is Rael would they?
- Harbinger1080, on 08/11/2008, -0/+1I did read that Jabba has an uncle who moonlights as a New Orleans jazz piano player..
- woulok, on 08/11/2008, -0/+1blasphemy! mentioning Jar Jar
- N01SE, on 08/11/2008, -0/+1George Lucas ruins everything he creates, his sac of evil under his chin frightens me.
- TheInformer, on 08/11/2008, -0/+2Jar-Jar's returned to his first love.... Wookie Hairstylist on Kashyyyk.
- tibblesnbits, on 08/11/2008, -8/+3Thank God. I don't think that most of us would be able to stand another movie with him in it.
- Rev0lver, on 08/11/2008, -13/+2The force is strong with this one.
- galvo, on 08/11/2008, -18/+4Because it's a ***** Star Wars movie, duh.
Who the hell needs a reason, let alone seven, to watch a new Star Wars movie?- zomglolcats, on 08/11/2008, -1/+7The prequels say otherwise.
- solidus636, on 08/11/2008, -9/+3I don't care what anyone says, the prequels are what made me like Star Wars. Truth be told, I hadn't even heard all that much about Star Wars before I saw the third one, and that was a spur of the moment kind of thing because I went with friends.
- zomglolcats, on 08/11/2008, -1/+7The prequels say otherwise.
- andypop481, on 08/11/2008, -12/+94Aaah, no, it'll suck.
- MrM4nager, on 08/11/2008, -3/+1Yeah....but I'm gonna go anyway
- SuperWinner, on 08/11/2008, -1/+4fanboyism is a disease...
But just like the last lucas farce, indiana jones movie, the fanbois will be out in force to make sure it does a billion dollars at the box office. Sad. - rblancarte, on 08/11/2008, -0/+8I have heard it DOES suck.
My friends went to the Austin pre-screening yesterday (I had to pass because I was busy), their synopses:
- Kids Movie
- bad story
- bad animation
- TERRIBLE voice acting
They pretty much said that even the pre-screening wasn't worth it.
- quomen, on 08/11/2008, -10/+98I'm not watching this.
- tdogg241, on 08/11/2008, -1/+2I can think of 3 reasons "Clone Wars" won't be worth seeing: Episode I, Episode II, and Episode III.
I'm done with Star Wars.
- tdogg241, on 08/11/2008, -1/+2I can think of 3 reasons "Clone Wars" won't be worth seeing: Episode I, Episode II, and Episode III.
- fadetoone, on 08/11/2008, -4/+57The little jedi chick in the previews seems pretty annoying. If anything it turned me off.
- jezsik, on 08/11/2008, -0/+3Watching the previews, it reminds me of a show I've seen on TV, Storm Hawks. A bunch of 20-somethings fly around on motorcycle jet planes having various adventures. The animation is the same style, the voice acting is indistinguishable, the attitude and wise-cracking humor is identical. I'm not exactly thrilled.
- scoottie, on 08/11/2008, -0/+3she is annoying. after about the 3rd or 4th time she says something you are basically saying ok we get it you are the spunky sidekick. her calling skywalker "skyguy" was lame.
but at least she isnt JarJar - KMartSheriff, on 08/11/2008, -0/+11The typical "badass" chick with an attitude in just about every sci-fi film/tv show is a turn off. It's just so predictable too. There's ALWAYS that stereotypical attitude bitch.
- SuperWinner, on 08/11/2008, -0/+1looking bad so far....
http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/clone_wars/ - Kanten, on 08/12/2008, -0/+2Question: Why would Anakin have a Padawan during the wars when he's barely even officially a Knight in Ep. III?
- toenexx, on 08/11/2008, -12/+59Mmmm, I'll just go see The Dark Knight instead....
- retrovertigo, on 08/11/2008, -13/+1Dugg down simply for pandering.
- davidkeithjones, on 08/11/2008, -0/+4Same here. This SW should go straight to DVD.
- SuperWinner, on 08/11/2008, -0/+1so should the last 3..
- BXRWXR, on 08/11/2008, -6/+43I'm sick of Clone Wars - do something different.
- Rudegar, on 08/11/2008, -1/+6siamese twin wars?
- scoottie, on 08/11/2008, -0/+9timothy zahn books anyone?
- newwildlife, on 08/11/2008, -0/+5Grand Admiral Thrawn = Love
- ThisCommentSux, on 08/11/2008, -0/+3Mara Jade = Love
- SuperWinner, on 08/11/2008, -0/+1Japanese twin short skirt wars?
- tmurphy77, on 08/11/2008, -5/+11I already saw this... I have the DVD from the Cartoon Network version - I see no need to watch the same story again. For those that have also seen the Cartoon Network version, are these any different?
- retrovertigo, on 08/11/2008, -2/+9Yes. One is a cartoon and the other is computer animation.
- Coven, on 08/11/2008, -0/+13The movie that was just released does not rehash any of the cartoon storylines. As far as I know, neither does the new series. They are all new stories, albeit set during the Clone Wars.
- tmurphy77, on 08/11/2008, -0/+2I see. Well then, being the father of a seven-year old I will undoubtedly see this. Is it me, or are the screen shots in the article horrible? Hopefully the movie and subsequent series will be better - this has PS2 video game footage written all over it.
- oxilite, on 08/11/2008, -0/+0I saw it last night for free, It was actually pretty good. The third point that the article makes is definitely true... Droids will pick people up by the wrist and shoot them at point blank range in the chest. Thats pretty sweet even if it is animated. And it is kindof cool to see jedi engaged in trench style warfare.
- cadmiumpaint, on 08/11/2008, -10/+70with all the money that Lucas has, why did they settle for such ***** looking animation?
- Coven, on 08/11/2008, -5/+7I saw a pre-screening of the movie last night and I have to say, I was impressed. It looks cartoony, but the action sequences really show off what the animation department at Lucasfilm has been able to do.
- SkippyDoorknob, on 08/11/2008, -3/+18It's a stylistic choice. It's not a "well, that's the best we can do, oh well" situation.
- KMartSheriff, on 08/11/2008, -2/+10A bad stylistic choice at that.
- Testiculese, on 08/11/2008, -2/+2Definitely a bad style. I'll not bother going to this one based on the characters alone. I don't watch regular Anime with this kind of styling. Proportionate-looking people are always the better choice.
If they did this with Final Fantasy animation, I would be enthralled. But no, disappointed yet again. - malex, on 08/11/2008, -4/+6It takes more than you not liking something to be considered "bad." In my opinion it looks brilliant, and designing characters is my job.
- SuperWinner, on 08/11/2008, -0/+1more evidence SW is for kids only now, this one looks like a kids cartoon!
- cadmiumpaint, on 08/11/2008, -0/+2@malex
you've just proved the disconnect between designers and the audience.
you create things that other designers and people in your field love, but the average guy, the ones who make or break the project don't get it, or don't really like it.
working in studio environments i see this all the time. I think Lucas and his animation team fell into that trap. - lowtolerance, on 08/11/2008, -0/+0This looks like something straight out of cutscenes in a crappy Star Wars knock-off bargain bin PC game.
- KMartSheriff, on 08/11/2008, -0/+1@malex:
Then you must be a terrible character designer.
- jezsik, on 08/11/2008, -3/+19Cheap, fast, easy. It's not about vision and story any more, it's about filling the swimming pool with dollar bills.
- Coven, on 08/11/2008, -2/+1See the film, watch the show, and you will be surprised. The animation is better than you think.
- jezsik, on 08/11/2008, -1/+2Oh, I think the animation is just fine. Unfortunately, this movie appears to be little more than Storm Hawks with light sabers and magic.
- scoottie, on 08/11/2008, -1/+2after awhile if you let yourself get immersed in the movie it doesn't look as bad as you might think
- NotOptium, on 08/11/2008, -0/+5Hell of an endorsement.
- scoottie, on 08/11/2008, -0/+1@notoptium
like i said in my other comments its a good movie just dont think its worth the price of a movie ticket
- cesclaveria, on 08/11/2008, -0/+2I guess the most obvious answer is that they chose a style similar to the one used on the CN series.
- dn11, on 08/11/2008, -1/+4Indiana Jones 5 is going to be done entirely with filmed concept art drawn on napkins with CG monkeys and nuclear powered saucer fridges added in post (and since Ford is too old now they are going to superimpose Shia's face on to a younger Harrison Ford body and composite that on the napkin art background)- the budget will be $300 million - with a story centered around Indiana Jones fighting dinosaurs and cave men that traveled through time while he is chasing down the sacred golden dinosaur egg of power. Expect it to get great reviews and make tons of money. Lucas kicks ass.
- Cybermaul, on 08/11/2008, -0/+1Win.
- Flashtone, on 08/11/2008, -0/+1they should of at least went pixar.
- DiscoLando, on 08/11/2008, -13/+7I will readily admit I'm a Star Wars fanboy, and I will always be one. If they made Star Wars toilet paper, you'd better believe I'd go out of my way to use it exclusively.
- retrovertigo, on 08/11/2008, -1/+2That's a bit excessive don't you think? Besides Cottenelle has the cute puppy down and is soft on the ass. Do you really want to wipe your butt with Yoda or Darth Vader's face? (Don't answer -- I really don't want to know)
- jezsik, on 08/11/2008, -0/+3Dug for metaphorical possibilities.
- DiscoLando, on 08/11/2008, -0/+1Hmmm.... indeed, the possibilities are endless.
- BoneheadFarker, on 08/11/2008, -0/+1Star Wars: The Toilet Paper? That will go great with my Star Wars: The Breakfast Cereal and Star Wars: The Flamethrower...
- Engine24, on 08/11/2008, -4/+2Uhhh.... maybe just maybe
- gametavern, on 08/11/2008, -5/+51Hey, the last 3 movies were almost all cartoon graphics, why not a fully cartoon one?
- Kanten, on 08/12/2008, -0/+2Because the last 3 movies sucked.
- Kajico, on 08/11/2008, -3/+26Reason number 1 it will suck.
Genndy Tartakovsky is not attached to the project- hydroplane, on 08/11/2008, -7/+11In Soviet Russia Genndy Tartakovsky is attached to YOU.
- tumbler360, on 08/11/2008, -3/+14Rental. I've had enough with the "New Star Wars" movies. Added to netflix.
- shindrak, on 08/11/2008, -0/+0No need to rent - its going to be on TV. The "movie" is the first 3 episodes of the TV series.
- divrekku, on 08/11/2008, -3/+7More importantly, Lucas didn't vomit all over this flick like he did with the last three movies, as well as the new Indy movie.
- Coven, on 08/11/2008, -0/+3Bingo. Number one reason to see it. Lucas did not write or direct this one. It shows too. Far more enjoyable than the prequels.
- BoneheadFarker, on 08/11/2008, -0/+3I really wish that they had tacked on a scene at the end showing Lucas waking up and realising it was all just a dream...
- SuperWinner, on 08/11/2008, -1/+1...and you think he had no influence over its crappiness? Thats wishful thinking...
- MoralThreat, on 08/11/2008, -2/+12Enough of the prequel stuff already.
- sircomix, on 08/11/2008, -3/+2Yeah, I want a Postquel. Like how about some Thrawn stuff? Please?
- B1663r, on 08/11/2008, -0/+11If they had done a movie following the adventures of Han Solo and Chewbacca doing their nice guy piracy bit before they hooked up with Luke and Lea, I would be all over it. But more clone wars stuff??? There are already two feature films about this period and there is already 4 hours of cartoon...
This is pure and simple a ploy to sell more toy light sabers, because I bet they are the single most profitable aspect of the Star Wars product line. - iDiggYa, on 08/11/2008, -0/+1Yeah, when will they make movies for the new Jedi Order?
- Kanten, on 08/12/2008, -0/+1Episode 7 in the mid 90's would have been nice, but so much for ever seeing it happen now. Nobody wants to see a 70 year old Han Solo.
- Crumpledump, on 08/11/2008, -5/+32Why does the CGI look like something that came out 5+ years ago?
- davidkeithjones, on 08/11/2008, -1/+3WALL-E looks better than this.
I will stab you with my wooden beard! - Chode2235, on 08/11/2008, -1/+15So they could easily make a Wii game for it.
- hellsing47, on 08/11/2008, -1/+6You're right.
- BevansDesign, on 08/11/2008, -0/+2Because it wasn't originally intended to be shown in theaters. This is basically the pilot episode of the new 3D-animated Clone Wars TV series. They figured it was good enough to show in theaters. So, don't expect an ending with a lot of closure.
TV animation, as you probably know, needs to be cheaper and quicker to make. That's another reason why it's so heavily stylized: the more realistic stuff looks, the more detailed the models need to be, and the more difficult it is to animate them, and the longer it takes to render the results.
Instead of comparing it to stuff like WALL-E, compare it to other 3D TV shows. Although, I'm sure they probably boosted the quality a bit for the big screen, so really it's probably between movie and TV quality. The weekly TV show, whenever it comes out, will probably look a little less detailed, but otherwise exactly the same. Which, to me, is quite good. I still kinda wish they had stuck with the traditional-animation version though.- LilRabbitFooFoo, on 08/12/2008, -0/+1Then they shouldn't have released it theatrically....
- Lateralis1, on 08/12/2008, -0/+1Make that at least 10+ years ago. Toy Story's CGI obliterates Clone Wars.
- davidkeithjones, on 08/11/2008, -1/+3WALL-E looks better than this.
- SilentRamble42, on 08/11/2008, -2/+3The title makes me feel obligated to see it, which sucks, because it looks horrible.
- EllenO, on 08/11/2008, -1/+29It looks like Reboot came to DVD............................I miss that show.
- GlitchEnzo, on 08/11/2008, -0/+11So do I. Can you guess where my screenname and icon came from? ;-)
- EllenO, on 08/11/2008, -0/+7[Oh my god. They must still be stuck in the internet]
- EllenO, on 08/11/2008, -0/+5They should bring that show back. I thought it was a popular show?
- WELLDOITLIVE, on 08/11/2008, -0/+8INCOMING GAME
- KMartSheriff, on 08/11/2008, -0/+9Except Reboot would probably be more entertaining than this.
- Darkangel754, on 08/11/2008, -0/+12***** this starwars movie, Bring on a new full length Reboot movie!
- lololol1, on 08/11/2008, -0/+4its already in the works
- reddog093, on 08/11/2008, -0/+7You just made my day.
- GlitchEnzo, on 08/11/2008, -0/+11So do I. Can you guess where my screenname and icon came from? ;-)
- B1663r, on 08/11/2008, -6/+4I have become Star Wars bitch. I would want to see this more if it was voluntary, however I have a son at Star Wars target market age, and viewing this movie is no longer really voluntary.
Oh also, if you didn't know, this movie kicks off a tv series and they already have 100+ episodes planned.
So if you don't hate Star Wars yet, you soon will. - michaelphw, on 08/11/2008, -5/+3Yeah I'll see it.
- brokencode, on 08/11/2008, -3/+39I smell a box office flop.
- davidkeithjones, on 08/11/2008, -0/+9If only fanbois see it the movie will make at least $100 million.
- diskit, on 08/11/2008, -1/+13Do not underestimate the power of the nerds.
- rezonq3, on 08/11/2008, -0/+3Is it sad that it took me a second to see what you did there?
- ButlerMonkey, on 08/11/2008, -6/+25The only reason that this can be good is if the theatre makes a mistake and plays The Dark Knight instead.
- RainNIU, on 08/11/2008, -4/+16Lucas - Swallow your pride and make a post-'Return of the Jedi' movie. The Thrawn trilogy, Jedi Academy (actually this one would make a great cable TV series), and Vector Prime catalyst would be awesome. Hell, do 'Shadows of the Empire' - that would *rock*!
- JollyDumple, on 08/11/2008, -0/+8The Shadows of the Empire game on the N64 was AWESOME
- sircomix, on 08/11/2008, -0/+4Agree fully. Why wont he do anything post-Jedi? I didnt know it was a matter of pride.
- djgreedo, on 08/12/2008, -0/+1It's not. The Star Wars movies are about the Skywalkers and their story is effectively over with ROTJ.
- gerrylazlo, on 08/11/2008, -0/+4Much better still, have somebody else make it and don't let your cursed touch poison any part of it.
- djgreedo, on 08/12/2008, -1/+1What an unintelligent post. If you don't like the Star Wars movies, fine. Don't blame George Lucas for making something you don't like. You are aware that all the Star Wars movies are mostly the work of George Lucas, right? (ideas-wise, obviously a lot of people worked very hard on the films).
Star Wars fans love the movies. Some people like some of the movies but not others. Get over it. - Kanten, on 08/12/2008, -0/+2"You are aware that all the Star Wars movies are mostly the work of George Lucas, right? "
Apart from Empire and Return, the former of which is widely regarded as the best piece of the series, the same film Lucas calls the "worst".
- Nn010385, on 08/11/2008, -0/+1The problem is that all those stories are Expanded Universe material. George Lucas considers HIS movies to be the absolute Star Wars universe, and he would be the first to tell you that the Thrawn trilogy, Jedi Academy, and other stuff isn't canon. The strange thing is that despite all this, all those EU writers are on LucasArt's payroll for some reason.
- LilRabbitFooFoo, on 08/12/2008, -0/+1Lucas never wrote the outlines for 7/8/9.
4 5 6 were based on the events and forces of WW2.
1 2 3 were loosely based on the events of WW1.
Guess what 7/8/9 were supposed to be based on...but never happened?
- mkoby, on 08/11/2008, -4/+1I'm interested in this because I read the Dark Horse Clone Wars series and I'm interested to see what from that becomes canon (at least according to Lucas). I'm also interested in seeing some of the actual battles from those comics played out in this movie/tv series.
- cheap2, on 08/11/2008, -7/+1Clone Wars FTW!
- luke16, on 08/11/2008, -1/+5News of the World gave it 1 star......
...although that is News of the World.- Kanten, on 08/12/2008, -0/+1But it's the news.....of the world!
- darladoon, on 08/11/2008, -9/+4key words: "will be worth seeing"
translation: "this film might suck"
if involves the work of george lucas, it will most def suck.- babylonian, on 08/11/2008, -0/+6You didn't read the article. The last (and most compelling) reason is that "George Lucas Didn’t Write, Direct, or Produce It".
- iDiggYa, on 08/11/2008, -0/+1From the article:
7. George Lucas Didn’t Write, Direct, or Produce It- djgreedo, on 08/12/2008, -0/+1George Lucas produced the Indiana Jones and Star Wars movies. He wrote 5 and directed 4 of the Star Wars movies and wrote the story for the 6th. He wrote and directed American Graffiti and THX-1138.
They are all great movies.
If you don't like Star Wars or George Lucas's style, then why hope for a George Lucas movie without George Lucas's involvement? Sounds a little stupid to me.
There are plenty of movies out there that George Lucas didn't make.
- djgreedo, on 08/12/2008, -0/+1George Lucas produced the Indiana Jones and Star Wars movies. He wrote 5 and directed 4 of the Star Wars movies and wrote the story for the 6th. He wrote and directed American Graffiti and THX-1138.
- TheInformer, on 08/11/2008, -0/+1key words: "will be worth seeing"
translation: "30 year olds who live in their grandmother's basement might like it."
- tylercomp, on 08/11/2008, -0/+7seemed like the writer couldn't even convince himself it would be good
- Scopitone, on 08/11/2008, -0/+2Execution style killing of clone troopers.
- deathmetalhero, on 08/11/2008, -0/+0saw it this weekend, it is worth seeing without some stupid list on the internet.
- lukemeister, on 08/11/2008, -0/+2Man, this one could go either way...
- JasonCox, on 08/11/2008, -3/+26Dear George Lucas,
Stop with the Clone Wars crap and give us the live action series you promised.
Thanks,
-Fans- SkippyDoorknob, on 08/11/2008, -0/+28Dear George Lucas,
Stop. - diskit, on 08/11/2008, -0/+5Dear George Lucas,
You picked a lousy era for your live action series.
Seriously,
-Fans- djgreedo, on 08/12/2008, -2/+1Dear George Lucas,
Ignore people who claim to be fans yet don't like your movies. I for one like pretty much everything you've done Star Wars related.
Don't listen to people who don't like your movies. Listen to those that do.
I think between Eps III and IV is perfect for a live action series. I'm looking forward to more of the destruction of demcracy that started in Ep III.
Cheers,
A big Star Wars nerd who loves the prequels and Jar Jar. But Episode II is below par.
- djgreedo, on 08/12/2008, -2/+1Dear George Lucas,
- SkippyDoorknob, on 08/11/2008, -0/+28Dear George Lucas,
- seraph582, on 08/11/2008, -0/+3None of Lucas' franchises are what they used to be, nor will they ever be again. Get over it already. It's 2008 ffs.
- nurall, on 08/11/2008, -0/+5i don't know, that trailer looks crappy.
- babylonian, on 08/11/2008, -2/+15-1) THE PLOT REVOLVES AROUND SAVING JABBA THE HUT'S SON.
COME ON NOW.- jbettineski, on 08/11/2008, -0/+10Seriously. I saw the trailer for the first time, heard this, and decided that I was not going to be seeing it.
My 7 year old is dieing to see it, though.
I wish there was some way of explaining how horrible it is to him... but he'll love it.- SilentRamble42, on 08/11/2008, -0/+6Damn kids...
- leerayIG88, on 08/11/2008, -1/+1Get off my lawn!
- diskit, on 08/11/2008, -0/+7Hey now, I'm sure that's a very important part of the conflict during the epic battles between the two sides of the Clone War- oh, who the ***** am I kidding?
- SuperWinner, on 08/11/2008, -0/+2jabba's son will make an excellent xmas fluffy doll/toy/game/action figure

- jbettineski, on 08/11/2008, -0/+10Seriously. I saw the trailer for the first time, heard this, and decided that I was not going to be seeing it.
- amitgir, on 08/11/2008, -0/+102 reasons it won't be worth seeing:

The two biggest Star Wars fans (read: virigins) hated it...- CyberStriker, on 08/11/2008, -2/+1Although I agree with you (and I think Clone Wars will pretty much suck ass), I have to say that the day I start listening to reviews from Ain't It Cool News is the day I shoot myself. That fat, arrogant, social retard that runs the site just pisses me off too much.
- sindex, on 08/11/2008, -0/+3Yeah, but dude, Ain't it Cool News gives good reviews to *everything.* Seriously. ***** EVERYTHING. If they're giving it a bad review, that's not a good sign.
- Muncher, on 08/11/2008, -0/+1The two biggest virigins hated it? Damning.

- oscenester, on 08/11/2008, -2/+1Friend in the Airforce saw a free pre-screening this weekend. He says its definately worth the watch, and he's a big star wars geek, but
************ Semi Spoiler - Do not read if you want to be surprised *****************
the gore factor follows along the passive violence of the clone wars TV series, more than the traditional gore of the film Saga.
Still, he gave it two thumbs, so I'm there this wednesday.- btraxx, on 08/11/2008, -0/+1Definately worth seeing, huh?
- oscenester, on 08/11/2008, -0/+1Just sayin, if you wanted to see heads being 'sabered off, it aint happening.
- btraxx, on 08/11/2008, -0/+1Definately worth seeing, huh?
- babylonian, on 08/11/2008, -1/+25"2. Awesome Anime-Inspired Art"
Hahaha, are they serious? They are serious?- MarshalBanana, on 08/11/2008, -0/+4I know. Easily the worst part of the film (though that may not be true after seeing it) and it doesn't look very anime inspired at all.
- SuperWinner, on 08/11/2008, -0/+2anime is ghay regardless... the LEAST inspired MOST UNoriginal art form in the universe...
- Fleagleman, on 08/11/2008, -0/+2Man, they are really pushing both this movie and the tv series down our throats right now. Me thinks it's because they think it will suck.
- Grumby24, on 08/11/2008, -2/+4Sorry, but I'm done giving Lucas money. The last 3 films were terrible. If it gets great reviews by the general public then perhaps I'll rent it, otherwise I'm done with these films.
- TheKingInYellow, on 08/11/2008, -0/+2only seven reason? i figured it would have been more than that.
- scytheX, on 08/11/2008, -0/+4Woot !! At least George lucas isnt producing/directing it !
- happyhacker09, on 08/11/2008, -2/+1RAmen to that!
- cartman005, on 08/11/2008, -1/+1Why don't you want him to? You know that he directed the other six right?
- scoottie, on 08/11/2008, -1/+2i went to a private screener a day before the premier its starts off kind of cheesy but gets a lot better. overall it is a good movie, but not sure if its worth the price of a movie ticket.
i wish that Lucas would finall turn the timothy zahn books into movies- Nn010385, on 08/11/2008, -0/+2The Timothy Zahn books aren't canon; they're Expanded Universe. Lucas is in no way obligated to turn the Zahn books into movies because they're not part of "his vision."
- scoottie, on 08/12/2008, -0/+1never said he had to, just said i wish he would.
- djgreedo, on 08/12/2008, -0/+1Just read the books. I read them a long time ago (when they were brand new) and really enjoyed them, but to be honest they are nowhere near the quality of Lucas's story (even if the prequels are not executed as well as they could have been, the underlying story is EPIC and fascinating). The Zahn books are more like a fun adventure.

- CyberStriker, on 08/11/2008, -1/+1I laughed when I read your comment because it's true. Clone Wars is not worth seeing, period. No matter how many ***** reasons you have.
- Fleagleman, on 08/11/2008, -0/+9Somehow, they've managed to go backwards in CGI technology. Is it just me, or do the characters now look like old marionettes (Team America, Thunderbirds)? What's up with that?
- SuperWinner, on 08/11/2008, -0/+1Gerry Anderson would be proud
- djgreedo, on 08/12/2008, -0/+1It's deliberately stylised. They're not going for photorealistic.
It's also designed for TV, and therefore they are not going to be spending the kind of money that Pixar would on a movie.
- seanof, on 08/11/2008, -1/+3For number 2, the stills so far make this look more like machinama then proper animation. I don't think that's a good thing.
Number 5 makes me very very nervous. Also they never say Jar Jar isn't in this.
Number 7 is the best, but it doesn't guarantee that the people who are making it don't suck. - Apocalyptic0n3, on 08/11/2008, -0/+1I said it last week when the other (much better, btw) article hit the front page: I am really looking forward to this film and the following TV Series.
- zomglolcats, on 08/11/2008, -4/+2I'm still not quite sure why they chose to title it "Clone Wars" since they kinda already had a Star Wars movie entitled "Clone Wars".
- shredswithpiks, on 08/11/2008, -0/+3attack of the clones
- Coven, on 08/11/2008, -0/+3Except it was "Attack Of The Clones" and we only saw the first battle of the Clone Wars in the film. In "Revenge of the Sith" we see the last few battles of the Clone Wars. This leaves a good 2-3 years of time for filler material that the folks at LFL can work with.
- zomglolcats, on 08/11/2008, -1/+2Woops my bad on the title. Been ages since I watched the prequels.
- djgreedo, on 08/12/2008, -0/+1Watch them again. Everyone seems to like them better after a few viewings (perhaps it makes the cringeworthy moments less apparent).
I started off lukewarm with the prequels. I enjoyed them, but thought they were nowhere near the quality of the originals. As I've watched them more I now love them alongside the originals (though I don't enjoy Ep II as much).
The story of the prequels is more interesting than the almost plotless originals.
- Chaotyk, on 08/11/2008, -0/+3No, Episode II was called "Attack of the Clones."
