8 Great Villains We Want in the Next Batman Movie
omglists.com — With The Dark Knight set to break box-office records, a sequel is almost certainly in the works. With Heath Ledger and Aaron Eckhardt's masterful performances as The Joker and Two-Face, respectively, finding another villain or two to ably face off against the caped crusader, while staying true to Christopher Nolan's darker tone won't be easy.

worse...villain...ev-er- BobZombie00, on 07/24/2008, -26/+3your mom's the worst villain ever.
- Ascendancy5, on 07/24/2008, -0/+12You're an idiot.
- Kohaxx, on 07/24/2008, -0/+21Meh, I liked the cartoon version, he had all the elements of a decent batman villain:
Snapped due to a bad day: check
Already had slightly insane tendancies (punctual to the point of obsessive/compulsive): check
No powers but picked a signature calling card with some cheesy themed weapons (Sword shaped like a clock hand): check
Certainly not a movie worthy villain but he wasn't the worst. Now Calendar man, that was another story:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v139/mengblom/ba ...- Asianwaste, on 07/24/2008, -0/+5Calendar Man (as seen on Long Halloween) would actually translate well in the Nolanverse. He'd be the b-villain serial killer type. You just can't overplay his gimmick.
- Asianwaste, on 07/24/2008, -1/+1Clock King wasn't even really a Batman villain
- kardiss, on 07/24/2008, -6/+3worst...grammar...ev-er

- Urbanninja622, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2You didn't read amalgam did you? Because I think you can only get good villains by mixing them. Riddler and King Pin make The Big question, Joker and Sabertooth make Hyena. Batman and Wolverine make Darkclaw. I'm not making this up.

- BobZombie00, on 07/24/2008, -26/+3your mom's the worst villain ever.
- fcruz1331, on 07/23/2008, -0/+82The Batman movies have focused a lot of attention towards the Mob, so Black Mask does seem like a likely possibility if he can be adapted the way they did with the Joker; the same can be said for the Riddler. As for the rest, I really hope that the producers do not sacrifice realism just for the sake of having a big name villain.
- FUR10N, on 07/24/2008, -0/+14i could see edward norton as the riddle, that would be great
- Kohaxx, on 07/24/2008, -0/+6Rumor has it that the guy from Dr. Who is interested in playing the Riddler:
Playing Batman's arch nemesis The Riddler would reportedly be a "boyhood dream come true" for David Tennant.
"I'd love to play the Riddler and be bad to Batman," the Doctor Who star told the Daily Express.- damndj, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1Hm, I could easily see DT as the Riddler, but... meh, show us something we haven't seen on the big screen.
- sean1562, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1yea but all the people who volunteer themselves for the role probably arent gonna get it. hopefully they pick a great actor not just some guy who kinda looks like the villsin
- damndj, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1Hm, I could easily see DT as the Riddler, but... meh, show us something we haven't seen on the big screen.
- mattyz0r, on 07/24/2008, -10/+5Johnny Depp as the Riddler
- SolituSneiku, on 07/24/2008, -1/+1I can see Steve Buscemi as the Penguin
- eastsoccer19, on 07/24/2008, -0/+7Nolan already said the Penguin was too zany for his interpretation.
- innocentsinner, on 07/24/2008, -0/+6I heard rumors of David Hyde Pierce as The Riddler
- eastsoccer19, on 07/24/2008, -4/+3since were talkin about whos the next actors. who is the next joker since they didnt kill the character?
- fcruz1331, on 07/24/2008, -0/+6I don't think there's any chance we see a new Joker any time soon. Rumor has it that he was intended to play a part in Batman 3 but was eventually written out after Ledger's death.
- DarkDx, on 07/24/2008, -0/+5Little Spoiler....
They will probably show him briefly (with another actor) in the super high security jail/psychiatric hospital or whatever at the beginning of the movie. - Peck3277, on 07/24/2008, -5/+1Here's a tip, try putting SPOILER before you open your big mouth. It's not out in some countries yet *****
- MoClippa, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1You Bastard!
- UserNull, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2With the way these movies are going, I would really like to see one of Batman's most famous foes. I just don't think that people know who Dr. Strange or Black Mask are. Riddler FTW
- iakupo, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1I like the idea I heard of making the riddler into a serial killer, although would that be enough for an entire film?
- Sogui, on 07/24/2008, -0/+5The Old Mr. Freeze, not the AHHNOLD "ICE TO MEET YOU" Freeze.
His tragic history and semi-noble intentions make him an interesting character and separate him from the rest of the Batman villains which are typically just flat-out no-questions-asked evil. Also in Nolan's series he has thrown in two antagonists into each movie so far. So the real question is which 2 (or more) villains will we see in the next movie.
Characters like Zsasz would be waaay to simple for a primary antogonist in Nolan's universe. Crazy guy who kills people? Yea I just saw that this weekend.
Forcing Batman into a fight with Mr. Freeze would put Batman into one of those "Am I really doing the right thing?" quandaries that Nolan seems to love. - PunkRampant, on 07/24/2008, -3/+4Bring back Jim Carrey as the Riddler. Say what you want about the direction and scripting of Batman Forever, but that casting decision was spot-on.
- zofobread, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2Echh....too flamboyant and over the top. Doesn't mesh with Nolan's style of film at all. If you need a little reminder, click the link.
http://www.geocities.com/SouthBeach/Palms/1129/rid ... - PunkRampant, on 07/29/2008, -0/+1Well Carrey shouldn't act exactly the same, of course. Nolan could have him tone it down and Carrey's charisma would still be perfect for the Riddler's character.
- zofobread, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2Echh....too flamboyant and over the top. Doesn't mesh with Nolan's style of film at all. If you need a little reminder, click the link.
- Elranzer, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1The Penguin is the last remaining villain who has ties to the mob. Considering he's one of the major villains of the series and one of the more realistic villains, Nolan should really consider him. Also of note would be Rupert Thorn.
Of course, I'm talking about the "real" Penguin, most notably played by Burgess Merideth (pretty much the only serious villain of the 60s Batman) as well as the Animated Series' Penguin.
- SoopaflySAM, on 07/24/2008, -10/+38What!! No Mad-Hatter? Ventriloquist? Man-Bat? Clayface?
Half of these have already made it to the movies. Let other villains make it to the movies- tweaq, on 07/24/2008, -0/+8Me and my friend were talking about the next villain the other day and decided on the Ventriloquist, because he would fit in with the tone of the TDK and he hasn't bee used before. But Nolan has stated that The Riddler is the only villain he is interested in working with, but I don't think he would fit in with the tone of his movies. (he doesn't kill anyone)
- CCB0x45, on 07/24/2008, -3/+3The ventriloquist is such a lame villain, come on do you really think it would be difficult for batman to beat a guy with a puppet... this list also blows. Szarszar or however you spell it was in batman begins also(brief cameos.)
- Kohaxx, on 07/24/2008, -2/+11Mad Hatter doesn't work without superpowers.
Clayface clearly has superpowers.
Man-Bat. worst named on the list and obvious superpowers.
Ventriloquest, he's a crazy old guy with split personalities, no thanks.- DownIsTheNewUp, on 07/24/2008, -1/+2Mad Hatter uses technology, not superpowers. It's all in the hats.
- Kohaxx, on 07/24/2008, -0/+8True, however there is no current technology that could be possibly misconstrued to make his hats seem realistic. It's about the same as trying to pass off the Mr. Freeze storyline.
- Jrr6415sun, on 07/24/2008, -0/+6I've heard a lot of talk about the hangman as he has a lot of interaction with the Falcones, the police and twoface.
From wikipedia:
"Hangman is a serial killer who murders police officers on every holiday of the year, leaving behind a version of the children's word game "Hangman" (with key letters missing) spelled with letters in blood on each new victim. During the events of Batman: The Long Halloween , Batman captured and imprisoned Alberto Falcone, the serial killer known as Holiday who murdered members of the Falcone crime family on holidays"
Harvey Dent/Two-Face - The Hangman's main and last target was former D.A Harvey Dent/Two-Face, who was captured and nearly hung in the basement of Arkham Asylum during a deliberate arson attack on Gotham's sewers. Batman got there in time to rescue him and confront Hangman once and for all, making him the second survivor. Two-Face then kills the Hangman. - Lalaphive, on 07/24/2008, -2/+3Dugg for Clayface (though he might seem like a DC version of Sandman , I just always liked Clayface)
- jave8u, on 07/24/2008, -1/+3In Sci Fi magazine, it read that Guy Pearce as Man-Bat, Josh Holloway as Clayface, Michael Clarke Duncan as Solomon Grundy, Vin diesel as Killer Croc, and Steve Buscemi as the Mad Hatter were all possible villains. Just a handful, but interesting nonetheless.
- Sabretou, on 07/24/2008, -1/+2Dugg for Man-Bat. I seriously want to see him in live-action.
- tweaq, on 07/24/2008, -0/+8Me and my friend were talking about the next villain the other day and decided on the Ventriloquist, because he would fit in with the tone of the TDK and he hasn't bee used before. But Nolan has stated that The Riddler is the only villain he is interested in working with, but I don't think he would fit in with the tone of his movies. (he doesn't kill anyone)
- leerayIG88, on 07/24/2008, -22/+4I'd like to see Batman vs Superman.
Only one man lives.- Hellothere123, on 07/24/2008, -3/+1That movie already exists.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRmmjxX0yR0
- Hellothere123, on 07/24/2008, -3/+1That movie already exists.
- langdonalger, on 07/24/2008, -3/+139i'd really like to see a Nolan Catwoman.
EDIT: that's a Catwoman character played by an actress in a Nolan film, not Nolan as Catwoman.- BobZombie00, on 07/24/2008, -0/+21A Nolan catwoman would be better though.
- TalkingBanana, on 07/24/2008, -2/+26...I wanna see Christopher Nolan as catwoman...
- Pusod, on 07/24/2008, -12/+2Angelina Jolie was born to play this role!
- sindex, on 07/24/2008, -0/+8Oh god no.... do not want.
- langdonalger, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1She would be good, but too... predictable and attention stealing for the nolan batman universe. I'd prefer someone more subtle, like a Mia Kirshner.
- whatthefu, on 07/24/2008, -1/+35It's going to be unbelievably hard to top the Joker. Half of those wouldn't be able to carry the movie as a "main" villain. Catwoman would simply be on the side since she is a love interest. The Riddler I could see happening, but to me he is like a lame version of the Joker.
- Kohaxx, on 07/24/2008, -0/+5The Riddler has some elements that would translate well, he's certainly not as evil as the Joker but I have a feeling that's intentional. There are more versions of the Riddler than the really bad one everyone remembers who left clues to his crimes, in fact originally the clues were designed to throw people off of what he was really planning.
Like the time he held Gotham hostage with explosives that actually turned out to explode Lime Jello just so he could hack into the police database with the force distracted.
Rumor has it Dr. Who is interested in the role, I'd really like to see the stylings of the Riddler minus the campiness of the Jim Carrey version. Black Mask would certainly fit the dark theme though better and be more of a trial for Batman, but Riddler's already been hinted at in both movies.- rooeeez, on 07/24/2008, -2/+8I think someone said they'd like to see carrey come back and do a serious riddler, one that would fit into nolan's batman world. i think that he would be able to pull that off.
- pcslugster, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2"It's going to be unbelievably hard to top the Joker. Half of those wouldn't be able to carry the movie as a "main" villain."
Totally.
- Lucifugerising, on 07/24/2008, -0/+27Black Mask and Zsasz seem to fit Nolans bill perfectly.
I can also picture Strange being easily worked into a smaller role.- CCB0x45, on 07/24/2008, -3/+6Zsasz was in batman begins, he was one of the escaped convicts.
- AppleGeorge, on 07/24/2008, -1/+5Yeah, but he had no real role or any contribution to the main storyline, or even anything at all to really do with Batman in the film.
- dpcdomino, on 07/24/2008, -2/+7Riddler does not. Bale does not portray the intellectual Batman very well.
- shakbhaji, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1For some reason (I think it's the picture in the article) I see Ben Kingsley as Dr.Strange. Think Lucky Number Slevin.
- CCB0x45, on 07/24/2008, -3/+6Zsasz was in batman begins, he was one of the escaped convicts.
- bannus, on 07/24/2008, -2/+33How do you possibly pronounce Zsasz? Zuh-sass-iz? Just "zaz" ?
- CLShortFuse, on 07/24/2008, -0/+9"zaz"
as pronounced in the Batman Begins video game - Aigan, on 07/24/2008, -0/+10Who honestly played that?
- CLShortFuse, on 07/24/2008, -0/+9"zaz"
- bibfortuna, on 07/24/2008, -20/+11Zsasz was in Batman Begins.
- radsprack, on 07/24/2008, -2/+35Yeah...the article says that. Thanks for the update.
- Miamisun, on 07/24/2008, -3/+17I am voting for the cerebral assasin the Riddler. Room for a secondary villain might also be available. Hell bring back Scarecrow in the third movie as well.
- fuzzmeister, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1I think you could play the Riddler as a shadowy serial-killer type, taking inspiration from the Zodiac killer. My limited knowledge of the comic books tells me that would be a huge reinterpretation, though.
- UserNull, on 07/24/2008, -0/+3Amen. I think if the Riddler was portrayed as some sort of genius with a very intense case of OCD they could do wonders with it.
- MisterChirish, on 07/24/2008, -0/+0The trick is to make sure he's not a lame Joker reinterpretation (like many have said he is).
Where the Joker was chaos and anarchy, I agree with you and think that the Riddler would be fantastic if he was portrayed as a significantly cold, calculating and deliberate assassin/burglar.
"Riddle me this, Batman - at 200 yards, how long will it take for me to hear the screams?"
- banido, on 07/24/2008, -15/+7Move along people, it's just another Batman story on Digg.
- jellydoughnut21, on 07/24/2008, -2/+11you can't say bad things about Batman on digg!! DUGG DOWN DUGG DOWN!!
- bwonder, on 07/24/2008, -5/+2In a film series like Nolan's Batman, I can't imagine Bruce Wayne feeling conflicted about tackling with an enemy named Mr. Whisper.
- plimpton777, on 07/24/2008, -3/+20Mr. Mxyzptlk.
- xyllar, on 07/24/2008, -1/+12Now there's a character that just SCREAMS realism.
- radsprack, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1Bat-Mite would be more acceptable.
- Bologner, on 07/24/2008, -1/+2HOW DO YOU SAY HIS NAME?!?!?!?!
- innocentsinner, on 07/24/2008, -0/+6How do you say it BACKWARDS?!
- shakbhaji, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1mix-iz-pit-lik?
- MaxwellEugene, on 07/24/2008, -0/+7You don't. You read it in dialog balloons.
- Br3ach, on 07/24/2008, -1/+18Aw, they left out the Condiment King
- Kohaxx, on 07/24/2008, -0/+18I think people are digging you down because they don't remember the Condiment King from the animated series.
Dispatcher: Disturbance reported at the top of the Crown restaurant. Suspect is a male costumed extremist armed with what appears to be a... ketchup gun.
Batman: It's going to be one of those nights.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Condiment King: So long, suckers! Parting is such sweet-and-sour sorrow. (Batman yanks away his loot bag) What's this? Ah! The big bad Bat-guy. I knew you'd ketchup to me sooner or later. How I relished this meeting. You, the dynamic Dark Knight, versus me, the conceptual Condiment King! Come, Batman. Let's see if you can cut the mustard.
Batman: Quiet! (He punches the King in the stomach)
Condiment King: (Slumps to ground, gasping) You hit me!
One of those priceless parodies of the campiness of Batman villains.
- Kohaxx, on 07/24/2008, -0/+18I think people are digging you down because they don't remember the Condiment King from the animated series.
- TheInformer, on 07/24/2008, -5/+10No KANE?
- Asianwaste, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1I can so see David Kane in the Nolanverse. He could be a member of the League of Shadows.
- SolituSneiku, on 07/24/2008, -1/+4I thought it was Bain?
- ZenMojo, on 07/24/2008, -0/+18I think he means Cain and you mean Bane.
- Asianwaste, on 07/24/2008, -0/+3Right you are.
- cep59186, on 07/24/2008, -13/+2I'd like to see Batman vs Superman.
- flangepiece, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2Yeah baby. Dugg.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Batman:_The_Dark_Knig ... - skinny01, on 07/24/2008, -1/+1In I Am Legend, there's a poster in the future NYC of the Batman vs. Superman movie. I posted about it in a reply on digg a while back. I believe the date was sometime in 2010. Lets see if I'm right and that was a clue left for us.
- flangepiece, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2Yeah baby. Dugg.
- martoq, on 07/24/2008, -1/+11I'd settle for one well thought out one.
- fluidfoundation, on 07/24/2008, -1/+2Then how about David Tennant as The Riddler. They were able to create a credible version of the Joker and Scarecrow, I think they can think the Riddler out to be a solid character. I think David could really pull it off.
Or what about Jason Statham as Rush?- FearlessFreep, on 07/24/2008, -1/+3Rush Limbaugh as a Batman Villian?...could work..
- jasepower, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2uhh... do you mean Hush?
- fluidfoundation, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2Jasepower: Yes. Spelling fail for me.
- fluidfoundation, on 07/24/2008, -1/+2Then how about David Tennant as The Riddler. They were able to create a credible version of the Joker and Scarecrow, I think they can think the Riddler out to be a solid character. I think David could really pull it off.
- krisscofield, on 07/24/2008, -2/+14I'd love to see Nolan or an equally as dark/creative director tackle Mr. Freeze. Maybe even bury and shame the Schumacher version?
- Kohaxx, on 07/24/2008, -0/+12Nah we still need time to recover from "Ice to meet you", that and the only way he could be envisioned realistically is as a chemist with a wife dying from cancer who makes a suit to commit crime with a gun that sprays liquid nitrogen, and even then, that's not cerebral enough to be a menace to Batman.
- bwonder, on 07/24/2008, -2/+4Honestly, Freeze is one of the last interesting characters in the series. He's motivated by more than just chaos (Joker), justice (Twoface), and money (Everybody else). He's got a wife to save, and that's pretty interesting.
- AllButOneDay, on 07/24/2008, -1/+14I have recommended John Malkovich for the role of Mr. Freeze in a previous post.
Maybe this time someone will read it. - coreychauk, on 07/24/2008, -0/+5I think the Schumacher version did a pretty good job of shaming itself.
- DyceFreak, on 07/24/2008, -35/+3***** Batman.
- jellydoughnut21, on 07/24/2008, -1/+3you can't say bad things about Batman on digg!! DUGG DOWN DUGG DOWN!!
- aredcalledblue, on 07/24/2008, -1/+4No ***** you.
- Amadeus2490, on 07/24/2008, -16/+2Spider-man 3 had 2 villains in it, and was a bad movie. I can't imagine how bad the next Batman movie is going to be if it has EIGHT villains in it.
- stealthc, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1It had 3. And these are just eight possibilities. I assume they are proposing that only one be made the next villain.
- Amadeus2490, on 07/24/2008, -1/+3Well, they completely butchered Eddie Brock/Venom, so I like to pretend that he doesn't even exist. As for the next point: I was being a total smart-ass.
- stealthc, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1That they did.
And sorry for not picking up on the smartassitude.
- Amadeus2490, on 07/24/2008, -1/+3Well, they completely butchered Eddie Brock/Venom, so I like to pretend that he doesn't even exist. As for the next point: I was being a total smart-ass.

- WillNavidson, on 07/24/2008, -0/+7Batman Gothic would make a marvelous and truly scary film; unfortunately, this will absolutely never happen.
- FearlessFreep, on 07/24/2008, -3/+1Batman Vs Dracula (cartoon) was pretty good....
Although Batman with Scooby Doo and the gang could also be intestersting
- FearlessFreep, on 07/24/2008, -3/+1Batman Vs Dracula (cartoon) was pretty good....
- swaters210, on 07/24/2008, -0/+19Black Mask would be some scary ***** in a Nolan film. I never heard of him until just now , when I looked at this article.
- Harabeck, on 07/24/2008, -1/+7The problem with most of those villains is that theyre really unknown. One of the reasons Dark Knight is better than Begins is because the villain is much more iconic.
- wolferz, on 07/24/2008, -0/+5But batman only had one TRULY unforgettable villain... and that was the joker. A franchise reboot couldn't be done without him.
Doing other iconic batman villains pretty much means cat woman or penguin... perhaps ivy or ridler. No matter what they will just force parallels with the old movies which isn't good for the franchise.- otros, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1Im not so sure about that last point. I don't know if it forces parallels or comparisions. If it's the latter, this movies stand up so well to the old ones that it can't be a bad thing.
- UserNull, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1That's what I've been saying all along! Thank you. I thought no one else would realize that.
- wolferz, on 07/24/2008, -0/+5But batman only had one TRULY unforgettable villain... and that was the joker. A franchise reboot couldn't be done without him.
- chicken101, on 07/24/2008, -3/+10Dark Mask played by Samuel l. jackson.
- AppleGeorge, on 07/24/2008, -7/+3Black*, jackass.
- convergent, on 07/24/2008, -1/+6You're really calling him a jackass because he didn't know the name of a villain?
- punkcat, on 07/24/2008, -0/+5Its samuel L* Jackson, *****.
note: i dont really care i just wanted to jump on the over reaction bandwagon.- SituatioNormal, on 07/24/2008, -0/+5It's* Samuel* L.* Jackson, motherlicker.
- SituatioNormal, on 07/24/2008, -0/+5It's* Samuel* L.* Jackson, motherlicker.
- mecharabbit, on 07/24/2008, -0/+8You racist bastard! Why does it have to be an African American playing BLACK Mask?
- chicken101, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2why doesn't it have to be?
- shakbhaji, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2If skin color is the only criterion you're using then... Wesley Snipes.
- kevisazombie, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1Nick Fury up in this bitch!
- DarkDx, on 07/24/2008, -1/+8I'm tired of these ***** bat mans in my ***** city!
- AppleGeorge, on 07/24/2008, -7/+3Black*, jackass.
- CCB0x45, on 07/24/2008, -0/+43I hope that its Bane... bane from the comics was a badass... bane from batman and robin was completely retarded, he couldnt even speak! In the comics he was smarter than batman.
- JigoroKano, on 07/24/2008, -0/+5...and his background story was so incredibly ***** up.
- brian1625, on 07/24/2008, -0/+4Yeah, the theme could be redemption.
Begins ="Fear" = Knight = "What we can become" 3 = "Redemption".
Bane will kick Batman's ass and he'll have to "Learn to Get back up again" A Rocky type story perhaps?- FearlessFreep, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1And Survivor does the theme song
- ZenMojo, on 07/24/2008, -0/+3He was badass in the cartoon, too. Generally, everyone knew how to treat him other than the writers and director in Batman and Robin.
- hyperboy, on 07/24/2008, -1/+27Riddle me this Batman!
- TalkingBanana, on 07/24/2008, -4/+3I think Bane is going to make an appearance in the next movie. I think he is going to be the large black prisoner from the ferry scene. He could be a mob enforcer of some sort, maybe get hired by the penguin.
- chancesarent, on 07/24/2008, -0/+8Why do people equate that guy with Bane? He has nothing in common with the Bane character besides being large. That, and the prisoner was actually a pretty noble and stand-up guy.
- vgtek, on 07/24/2008, -0/+9Damn, Ice Cube knocked Debo all the way to Gotham?
- mrsammercer, on 07/24/2008, -0/+3That's my bike
- rbk303, on 07/24/2008, -2/+218 is kind of a lot for one movie isn't it?
- dturnbull, on 07/24/2008, -0/+5You make me happy in my pants.
- shibagarden, on 07/24/2008, -5/+0Quit while you're ahead.
- fuzzmeister, on 07/24/2008, -0/+3Considering that the first movie got great reviews, but this one got even better reviews, that logic doesn't seem to fit here.
- FearlessFreep, on 07/24/2008, -1/+1Like Superman 3
- shibagarden, on 07/24/2008, -1/+1And Alien 3…and Star Trek III…and Episode VI…and Spiderman 3…and Batman Forever…and Godfather III…and…oh, screw it, I'm getting bored.
- Wilsomatic, on 07/24/2008, -1/+1And Final Destination 3!
*Slowly steps away* - ma2t3rchief, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1i kind of agree with the first comment because this film was so beautifully crafted. i think it would be more powerful if they didn't make a third one. but the studio is going to force them to make a new one. but it would be bad if they chose the number one on this list because its to unrealistic for this universe. i would that they would hire someone genius for what ever villain they choose, hopefully they'll choose the riddler nolan could really create a great character.
- fuzzmeister, on 07/24/2008, -0/+3Considering that the first movie got great reviews, but this one got even better reviews, that logic doesn't seem to fit here.
- pootpoot, on 07/24/2008, -0/+4Hmmm... Never heard of Deacon Blackfire, but he sounds really really interesting... It could work, L. Ron Hubbard anybody?
- AppleGeorge, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1Black Mask would be amazing. It actually works well with the setting and macabre type atmosphere that Nolan has set in Begins and The Dark Knight.
- 2h3px, on 07/24/2008, -0/+8So basically someone compiled the comments here: http://digg.com/movies/So_Where_Does_The_Dark_Knig ... into a story.
- protodon, on 07/24/2008, -2/+2Seriously I love clayface, at least the way Batman: The Animated Series portrayed him. Alas I don't think I'll ever get to see him in this uber-realistic batman franchise.
- MJaques, on 07/24/2008, -9/+6CATWOMAN WILL BE THE NEXT VILLAIN!
When Lucius Fox crafted the new suit for Batman in the Dark Knight, he said "it would protect against Cats" (or something to that effect). That's a pretty dead giveaway as to the film's next villain.- dagamer34, on 07/24/2008, -0/+20Catwoman is hardly a real "villian" but more a nuisance. I don't think you could drive an entire story with just Catwoman. Sure, she'll probably be in it as it plays into the whole anarchy bit, but we need a villian that can attempt to match the theatrics the Joker pulled.
And no, Nolan probably isn't going to do Catwoman + The Penguin. No "Batman Forever" rehashes please!- CCB0x45, on 07/24/2008, -0/+9That is Batman Returns. Batman Forever was Riddler and 2 Face
- bwonder, on 07/24/2008, -5/+6You must be some kind of genius. No one else picked up on that.
Ever. - GerudoX, on 07/24/2008, -2/+1I think it was an nice inside joke to fans that he threw in. I've read repeatedly that Nolan won't use Catwoman or Penguin
- CLShortFuse, on 07/24/2008, -7/+3Um, I'm pretty sure he said that i would protect him against dogs. Batman mentioned he needed better protection from dogs in the beginning of the movie.
- UMDWei, on 07/24/2008, -0/+5Bruce: "Would this protect against dogs?"
Fox: "It'll protect against cats."
- UMDWei, on 07/24/2008, -0/+5Bruce: "Would this protect against dogs?"

- futureisours, on 07/24/2008, -4/+1Superman. Come out with the movie adaptation of Dark Knight Returns already! If Miller is behind the reigns this has the potential to be the best superhero movie ever.
- fuzzmeister, on 07/24/2008, -0/+5That would introduce superpowers into the series, though, something which so far has been successfully avoided by Nolan and would almost definitely be to the movie's detriment.
- WhoDoneIt, on 07/24/2008, -7/+1How about an entirely new villain. Paris Hilton. We can call her..
...Crotch Stench. Spreads her legs and mutant crabs come out and attack Gotham City. The best part is Batman can beat the ***** out of her for the whole movie.- tnoy, on 07/24/2008, -0/+3It would be a documentary, then. I'd like the batman movies to stay works of fiction.
- hamburgers, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2I thought that movie got made last year, it was called cloverfield
- zomgwaffles, on 07/24/2008, -2/+1catwoman should be the next villian somewhat early in the story then later help batman to show that relationship build and the whole time be building up to white shark breaking out of prison and going after batman for messing with his crime organization
- UMDWei, on 07/24/2008, -0/+6I think you just described the second Green Goblin in Spider-man 3
- Beaches, on 07/24/2008, -8/+1Wow,... We actually want another Batman movie?... i guess i was wrong.
- fapfapfap, on 07/24/2008, -4/+2How about Deadshot, since it is already established that Batman won't kill, why not have a villain who wants to be killed
- rinote, on 07/24/2008, -2/+7God forbid that Catwoman is in the next film, because then my transformation to nerd-dom will be complete... I would have go to the third movie on the midnight showing dressed as Catwoman.
- pillcounterd, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1and whats wrong with that?
- MisterChirish, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2Oh thank God! Checked out your profile, and was quite happy to see that you are not a man...
Whew... There can be some really scary people on digg... had to be sure.
- fapfapfap, on 07/24/2008, -1/+2How about Ventriloquist and Scarface, since there is a mob theme to the story line already.
Could make Scarface creepy like the doll from the Saw series. - ntacsback, on 07/24/2008, -2/+29I want to see Bowser.
- praetoriansword, on 07/24/2008, -0/+5That's why diggers are not Hollywood's target demographic. We may go back to see the movie 2 or 3 times, but meanwhile, the rest of the world is wondering why Batman is battling Bowser in Liberty City in an attempt to foil the assassination attempt on President Paul.
- vism, on 07/24/2008, -0/+9While on a 3g iphone

- ryan899, on 07/24/2008, -10/+4I vote Johnny Depp as The Riddler. We can even bring Tim Burton back co-direct!
- paulvq, on 07/24/2008, -1/+4Why is everything automatically Johnny Depp? I like him as much as the next guy, but he doesn't need to be in every single movie.
- darkciti2, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2That would actually be an interesting production. Good luck getting Tim Burton (the original Batman producer/director/whatever) to work with them though.
It would be very interesting to see Johnny Depp in a bad guy role - apart from the bad cop in 21 Jump Street. - PilotHead, on 07/24/2008, -1/+4Go back to Hot Topic!
- dhusk, on 07/24/2008, -1/+1Lady Shiva.
In the comics, she's a master assassin and recognized even by Batman to be the deadliest hand-to-hand combatant in the world, even surpassing him. It would be intersting to see Nolan's Batman take on a foe he couldn't beat in a fair fight.- Dissonance, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2I agree. But if she is brought in we would need Ra's Al Ghul and Talia too. The whole wealthy Arab thing has a lot of popular interest today.
- cadmiumpaint, on 07/24/2008, -0/+13I like the Riddler, Zsasz....the serial killer aspect is great and i could see batman chasing down a creep like this. .the penguin could work if you reinterpreted him as a billionaire madman...Rockafeller meets insane crime boss kinda thing.
actually I think Nolan could make every character on that list work if he really wanted to. I think the Batman franchise is in good hands if he sticks to the the same philosophy that made the past two films great. - Asianwaste, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1Mr. Zsasz was in Batman Begins and Nolan said he's not going to do Penguin and Catwoman.
Personally I'd like to see David Kane, Hush, Black Mask (dugg for being #1), Deadshot, or Talia al Ghuul.
Calendar Man would fit nicely as a B-villain serial killer.- radsprack, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1Hush wouldn't really fit in this time line. We would need to make our way through three different Robins.
- Asianwaste, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1Hey if you can have Ra's Al Ghuul be Batman's trainer, you can reconstruct Hush in the Nolanverse.
- radsprack, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1Hush wouldn't really fit in this time line. We would need to make our way through three different Robins.
- wolferz, on 07/24/2008, -6/+2Riddler and Mad Hatter were essentially joker redux' with a little extra flair. Ivy, Freeze, Bane, are all kinda generic (evil seductress, mad scientist, and strong man). Clayface is really just a slimier Penguin redux. Of the remaining Batman villains the two most would secretly want to see... is cat woman and penguin. Obviously that is unlikely to happen as it would cast a shadow over the entire thing and lead people to make direct comparisons to batman returns.
Any supernatural villains will be out of place and risk pushing batman in the direction of all the batman movies after Returns and before Begins.
Besides. Two Face is in the next and, I might add, final Nolan Batman (this is a trilogy). Any other villains would need to be compatible with his character. Also the themes of batman finding himself in the first movie and struggling to find room for Bruce Wayne in the second will likely be continued with the third and final Batman. I haven't seen it yet... despite numerous attempts, so I dare not guess where it would go, but I would very much like to see just Two Face and no other villains.- freshyill, on 07/24/2008, -1/+2Wow, you sure do have the inside scoop on this Batman trilogy. Clearly you have inside information, and are not just a douchebag talking out his ass!
- wolferz, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1So sharing my opinion makes me a douchebag... but putting words in some ones mouth and then going off on them over what they never said doesn't make you one? Just trying to figure out which bizarro world you might be inhabiting.
Never said I had the inside scoop. Never said I knew what would happen next (in fact I said I didn't dare guess).
Nolan and Bale have both said they only plan one more movie... the same way G. Lucas and Spielberg only planned three Indy movies. There's no inside scoop needed for that... just paying attention to the press since before the movie came out.
- wolferz, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1So sharing my opinion makes me a douchebag... but putting words in some ones mouth and then going off on them over what they never said doesn't make you one? Just trying to figure out which bizarro world you might be inhabiting.
- AllButOneDay, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1Two Face died at the end of the dark knight. How realistic is it for someone to die and then come back to life? Besides Jesus, who was an obvious Highlander.
There can be only one.- otros, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1I've been wondering that. It's clear that they showed him dead, but I'm not completely sold on that one, I think we just might see him in the next one.
I don't know, maybe it was all the build up and how secretive they were about how it would look, for a part that lasted for what felt like the last fifteen minutes of the film. - wolferz, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1I don't think he did. There is info in other media and some of the viral marketing stuff that indicates he will be around for a while longer.
But having seen the movie, yes he did look very very dead. However, what if his heart was to just, I dunno, start beating again while he is in the body bag on the way to the morgue? Imagine a climactic opening scene where Two-Face rips his way out of the bag and kills the medics carrying his body to the morgue by crashing the vehicle. The crash destroys the car (and the bodies) enough that all any on can find is mashed parts. Months pass and we skip to batman doing his thing while Gordan chases him down. The story resolves with Two-Face admitting to his crimes and thus clearing batman. *shrug* It's a comic book recreation... realistic or not. There is one thing holds true in all comics... no one ever stays dead.
If it isn't Two-Face though... Joker is still alive, as is Scarecrow. They hinted at the presence of other villains... and I highly doubt they will introduce any supernatural villains. Rachel's death lead me to believe cat woman will appear in the next one... hopefully with penguin no where in sight. It would create a foil for the story of batman dealing with rachel's death in the face of the intense chemistry the Dark Knight has always shared with the Princess of Plunder.
And I think the joker is not done... they brought Scarecrow back even if it was cameo like appearances. Who's to say that the joker and batman couldn't find themselves in an outright war for Gotham in the next installment. Millions of fear maddened citizens fleeing from the Scarecrow, the Joker making things go boom, Cat Woman taking advantage of the calamity to line her spandex suit with Benjamins, and Batman caught in the middle.
*shrug* It's as good a theory as any.

i call him CUCUMBER EYES - catfish182, on 07/24/2008, -2/+2Who says he has to face a villain? after seeing the film why not someone like Green Arrow?
He could be dark enough to pull it off.
As a matter of fact you could do a Deacon and Arrow.
persoanlly i would love to see the comic version of Bane show up like how he was meant to be. That crap that Schmacher had was ***** - digitallysick, on 07/24/2008, -2/+5I would like to see Mr Freeze, similar to the one that was on the batman cartoon
